The Weeknd Has No Issue With Recent MF DOOM Comparison

The Weeknd is currently on a massive tour. The After Hours Til Day Tour has been an exciting time for Abel. Although he is being panned for his role in The Idol, he still seems to be having a good time. Overall, it’s not all bad in regard to his new show. For instance, he is currently releasing new songs in relation to the track’s soundtrack. Last week, he dropped the track “Popular” which features Madonna and Playboi Carti. Moreover, on Friday, he is expected to drop more, which is great news for music listeners.

As for his aforementioned tour, just a couple of nights ago, he was in Portugal. During this performance, he got to perform “Popular” for the very first time. Additionally, as you can see in the tweet down below, he donned a very unique silver mask. Although, when you look at it, you can sort of see the resemblance with MF Doom. Ultimately, fans are very much digging the new look, even if it is simply a temporary thing.

The Weeknd Rocks A New Mask

In fact, Complex took to Twitter with a picture from the performance and dubbed The Weeknd, “MF Abel.” Clearly, the Canadian singer didn’t mind this comparison as he retweeted the post. At the end of the day, MF DOOM is a massive legend. Unfortunately, he passed away a few years ago, and since that time, he has received plenty of incredible tributes. However, it is unknown whether or not Abel was thinking of MF Doom when he put on this most recent mask.

For now, The Weeknd will continue to focus on his new show. The Idol episodes come out every Sunday at 9 PM EST, on HBO. So far, the reviews have been bad, but it still has room to get better. Mos Def Might Have To Send Tour Money To His Child’s Mother

Mos Def is gearing up for a sizeable tour this summer alongside R&B legend Erykah Badu. Unfortunately for Mos Def, he might not get to see any of the profits from their shows together. According to court papers obtained by The New York Post, the money from the tour may have to go to artist Karima Sorel. Sorel and Mos Def have a child together and he reportedly owes over $88,000 in child support.

Sorel is allegedly suing various companies associated with the tour including Ticketmaster and Live Nation in an attempt to get the money she’s owed paid out from the tour. This isn’t the first time the pair have had issues as it related to child support payments. A few years ago a court ruling forced Mos Def to cover Sorel’s attorney fees when it came to light that he consistently failed to pay child support. That precedent may loom large over future court proceedings involving the two.

Mos Def and Erykah Badu’s tour kicks off in Texas on June 11th. The pair will tour for a month and a half before returning to Texas to close the tour in July. Mos Def most recently released new music alongside longtime collaborator Talib Kweli as Black Star with last year’s No Fear Of Time. The album was released exclusively to the podcast network Luminary which left many fans unable to hear it. To promote the album the pair played two of the songs from it live on Saturday Night Live.

Fittingly, another place you can hear from Mos Def this summer is on a different podcast network, Audible. A few months ago the platform announced a Hip Hop 50th anniversary series coming this summer. Alongside Mos Def the project also seeks to celebrate the contributions made to rap music by artists like Snoop Dogg and Lil Kim. Danny Brown Admits Joining Childish Gambino On The Road Was “One Of The Worst Tours”

Danny Brown says that his tour alongside Childish Gambino was “one of the worst tours” he ever played. Reflecting on the experience during a recent episode of The Danny Brown Show, he revealed to Redveil that he would cry after being booed off stage. Ahead of the tour, Brown collaborated with Gambino on his Royalty track, “Toxic” which samples Britney Spears.

“I mean, shit, man, Childish Gambino,” he began. “I remember when I first did [‘Toxic’], people weren’t really fucking with Childish Gambino like that around that time. ‘Cause I remember when he asked me to go on that tour. My manager at the time was like, ‘You sure you wanna do this?’ I’m like, ‘Hell yeah, fuck that. I’m tryna get on the road.’ Which was, I will say, that was like one of the worst tours I ever played. They hated my guts every night – I was getting booed off stage. I remember I was crying one night, crying crocodile tears like a little bitch, sitting in some diner. We had some hoes with us and everything. I ain’t even wanna do with the b*tches, man. I’m like, ‘They hate me, man. This sh*t sucks. I’m really trash.’”

“They was hating my ass, dawg, that whole entire tour,” he continued. “But when I look at it, man, our music was so different. Like, I was coming from a whole different perspective than what he was coming on. But then when I got in the studio, I’m like, ‘Oh no, this n***a is dope.’ So I would say, more than anything, I’ve been impressed by people that I didn’t really think were like that. He’s just an all around talented motherf*cker in that sense, and I be jealous of them muthafuckas, too. I call them ‘art school kids.’ Like, this motherf*cker can really do anything – why you wanna rap?! This all I got! This all I know how to do!”

Logic Labels Himself The “Daddest B*tch”

Logic labeled himself the “Dadest b*tch” while backstage in a video posted on Instagram, Saturday. Logic is currently performing on his College Park tour. He’s had shows in Bridgeport, C.T., and New York City this weekend.

The clip opens with someone remarking, “You’re a bad b*tch, Bob.” “I am the baddest — I am the DADdest b*tch you’ve ever seen,” Logic responded to the praise. “Dad b*tch. I’m a dad b*tch.” “Feeling dad af lately #dad #dadjokes #daddy,” he captioned the clip.

“You can be my daddy,” one fan wrote in response with a laughing emoji. Another joked, “Next Logic release be like… ‘I’m a dad ass b*tch/And you’re caught up in the mix/Watch me spread this mix/Peanut butter is the fix.’” A different user remarked that they want another album from the rapper. “Loved the album, but it’s time for some Bobby Tarantino sh*t. We know it ain’t a thing for you to get that out for the Summer even while on tour,” they commented.

Logic released College Park independently back in February. It was his first release as an independent artist since his 10-year stint with Def Jam. When he announced the project, he explained that he was working “from the heart. “I love y’all and I’m making shit from the heart,” Logic told fans. “I’m loving hip-hop. I was not really feeling it for a while. I don’t really mean the music, I just mean the bullshit of the industry. But I realize now more than ever that none of that shit matters. I’ve missed you guys and I’m here and I just want to have fun and I’m so excited for College Park.”

SZA Explains Decision To Get A BBL: “I Treat My Butt Like A Purse”

SZA recently reflected on her decision to get a Brazilian butt lift during an interview with Elle. She had mentioned getting the operation during the intro track to her latest album, SOS. “That ass so fat, it look natural / It’s not,” she sings. The conversation arose during her talk with Elle while discussing her fashion sense.

“I hate trying on clothes,” she admitted to the outlet. “I don’t shop anywhere, I just wear whatever is free in my mail. I’m like, ‘Is it an extra large? Great.’ If I can feel like I’m under a blanket when I’m outside, that’s ideal.” From there, she added: “I treat my butt like a purse. It’s just there to enhance whatever else. And that’s why I paid for it, because it works all by itself.”

When asked specifically about the decision to get a Brazillian butt lift, she made sure to note that the choice was her’s alone. “I always wanted a really fat ass with less gym time,” she told Elle. “I didn’t succumb to industry pressure, I succumbed to my own eyes in the mirror and being like, No, I need some more ass.” As for the choice to reference it in her music, she added: “That’s some Jersey shit. You know what I’m saying? When I feel like I have too much to say and I don’t want to say it cute.”

SZA dropped SOS back in December 2022. At the time, it debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart and broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album in the US. Afterward, it spent ten non-consecutive weeks atop the chart while also being the first R&B album to spend its first seven weeks atop the chart since Whitney Houston’s Whitney in 1987.

That’s likely to continue over the next month, but when Drake and 21 Savage hit the road at the end of June, many hip-hop heads will likely turn their focus that way. Seeing as tickets have been even more harshly criticized for their price than Bey’s own concerts, it’s likely that many fans won’t be able to attend and will instead rely on social media and blogs to get their fix.

However, it seems one lucky Drizzy lover may get a chance to see the Canadian perform live after showing off his own rap skills on TikTok. A few days ago a video of a middle-aged man bodying Drake’s verse from Future’s “I’M ON ONE” began making rounds online, even reaching the point that the father of one himself saw the iconic clip. “Need you at the tour big guy, for sure,” he wrote when reposting it on his own Instagram Story on Monday (May 29).

Drake Reacts to His Biggest Fan

At first glance, the TikToker would certainly not appear to be a Drake fan, but his dedication and memorization prove otherwise. “All my h*es rockin’ Audemar / All my h*es rockin’ Rollie, Audemar, Patek,” he spits while casually holding a beer in one hand. “Bustdown thotiana, bustdown thotiana / Bust down a thotty with a bustdown,” Champagne Papi’s enthusiast continues, impressing the internet with his abilities.

Pusha T Fans Rap Along Word For Word At Belgium Concert

Fans of Pusha T in Belgium went viral on social media, Monday morning, for matching the rapper word for word on his songs from a concert in the European country over the weekend. In the clip, the fans rapped Pusha T’s hit song, “If You Know You Know,” from his 2018 album, Daytona.

Fans in the comments section of the clip posted by 2Cool2Blog on Instagram were impressed by the crowd, sharing plenty of fire emojis and other gifs. “It hits differnt in europe man they value shows differnt not a phone up in sight either in that front row they basking in the moment knowing he ain’t coming back immediately,” one user commented. “They waited all day to live in that moment and show casing it. Sea of white faces genuinely appreciating the culture. It’s been fascinating watching Germany and euro places go thru the 80s-2000s music this is how they learned English frankly after asking my European friends. It’s why these 90s rappers can tour over there like they new acts still.”

Other fans called out Jim Jones. who recently declared that Pusha T isn’t an all-time great artist. “Jim Jones could nvr lol,” one wrote. “@jimjonescapo Stop Playing With Pusha Ton Smh” another commented.

The performance in Belgium comes after Pusha T postponed his U.K. and European tour due to “production issues.” He explained in a statement, earlier this month, “Apologies to my European family, but I have to shift my European tour dates due to production issues. After the overwhelming demand and sellouts it breaks my heart. We can’t deliver the show we envisioned within the original timeframe, and you all deserve the full ‘It’s Almost Dry’ experience.”

Conway The Machine Postpones Tour After “Severe Leg Injury”

Conway The Machine is postponing his upcoming Won’t He Do It tour after suffering a “severe leg injury.” He made the announcement on Instagram, Monday, revealing that he has a fractured right tibia.

“The results are in [face palm emoji]. I have a Fractured right tibia, dislocated kneecap, ANNNNND the album of the year tho!” he captioned a statement. “But In all seriousness tho, anyone that knows me knows there’s nothing I love to do more than bein up on that stage! I can’t lie I’m super disappointed that I have to postpone the WHDi tour for a little bit, because I was really looking forward to goin on those stages and rocking this WHDI shit for y’all live. However I am in good spirits and I’m only looking at it as just a minor lil setback for a MAJOR COMEBACK! No stress!!”

From there, Conway revealed that tickets will be honored at the updated dates: “If u already bought tickets they’ll be honored at the later dates for sure! More updates coming this week. I appreciate all the love and concern for my well-being, love y’all.” He also shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed with the injury.

Plenty of fans shared their support for Conway despite the disappointing news. DJ Premier commented, “Heal up and get right back to it KING. WHDI? YHW!!!” One fan wrote, “Seen you in London Ontario last May, one of the best shows I’ve been to hands down still remember when you brought me on stage! Minor setback for a major comeback.”

DaniLeigh has shared that she is credited with helping with the choreography for Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour. She thanked the legendary singer for the opportunity on Instagram, Saturday. DaniLeigh explained that she had to keep the collaboration a secret throughout 2022.

“Kept this on the DL last year but I’m so grateful to have been apart of some of the choreography for the Queen Beyoncé Renaissance Tour,” she captioned a picture of the credits for the tour. “It was an honor and such a blessing. a dream come true!!! thank you to @beyonce and team, The show looks amazing!!!” DaniLeigh’s fans were excited for her in the comments section. “YEAH BIG DANI DOING BIG THINGS!!! The Renaissance World Tour kicked off on May 10, 2023, at Friends Arena, in Stockholm, Sweden. It marks her first solo tour since the Formation World Tour in 2016. Beyoncé will be performing a total of 57 shows through September 27, 2023, stopping in England, Spain, France, Germany, and more before coming home to the United States on July 12 for a show at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Lil Kim Honors Michael Jackson During Tour

Regardless of public controversy, the King of Pop’s legacy lives on, whether in people’s hearts or on massive stages. Moreover, Lil Kim made an impromptu appearance as a supporting act for Janet Jackson’s “Together Again” tour on Thursday (May 18) in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Specifically, the Brooklyn rap legend graced the stage as a replacement for Ludacris, another hip-hop icon, who was Janet’s supporting act save for that date. During her performance, she paid tribute to Michael Jackson with a dance and rendition of his classic track “Smooth Criminal.” Considering the gargantuan three-act set-up of the tour in massive venues, it must’ve been quite the show.

Of course, Lil Kim has gotten to that career point where she might receive similar tributes from other artists, or these artists speak on her profound influence on them. “My mom was a rapper, right?” Megan Thee Stallion expressed on the Hulu series RapCaviar Presents. “She was a female rapper, but I had never heard of women being rappers ever because my mom was listening to UGK, Three 6 Mafia. My daddy [listened to] Lil Wayne, like, we only listening to men in the house. But one day, my mom put on Lil Kim. Damn! She raps harder than a lot of these guys!”

In addition, the 48-year-old recently treated fans to a fun and era-blending show at Usher’s Lovers & Friends Festival. Along with her backup dancers, Lil Kim gave her own spin on Lil Uzi Vert’s smash hit track and dance, “Just Wanna Rock.” However you felt about that performance, you can at least say that it was heartening and enjoyable to see the star pay tribute to the newer generation. In a time during which hip-hop seemed more divided than ever, it’s nice to see the old and new guards move past the SoundCloud rap mentality and move further into supportive coexistence.

Meanwhile, she will always honor one of rap’s most enduring and influential figures: Biggie Smalls. “It’s always important to honor the king,” she expressed on his 50th birthday. “He’s the king. The king lives on. He’s just an amazing person, amazing artist … his legacy. It’s just great. Like, I mean, look at the catalog.
