Since the start of July, Brampton, Ontario, Canadian native Tory Lanez has been dishing out some unreleased recordings under the “Lost Tapes” moniker. He has done so every weekend and their existences range from 2015-2020. All of these releases see the multi-hyphenate using his auto-crooning style, which means that R&B is the name of the game. Fans of his continuously debate which side of him they prefer. But with him serving 10 years of prison time, any “new” music from Tory is going to be a welcome sight for now.

The topical focus for these now six different tracks has centered around falling in and out of love and getting absolutely freaky in the bedroom. That remains to be the formula on Tory Lanez’s two latest “Lost Tapes” installments, “Girls In The Room (2020)” and “L.M.B.B (2018)”. On the former, Daystar Peterson is drunkenly singing to a girl who has he has felt strongly about for some time. He tries to snake his way into her heart by telling this woman that she is messing around with the wrong guys. Conversely, “L.M.B.B” sees Tory losing “baddest b****” after she played with his feelings. Megan Thee Stallion faced some pretty traumatic times after she was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. Still, there are those out there who are on Lanez’s side, and when some of those folks tried to rattle Meg recently, she didn’t give them the satisfaction.

In a video that can be seen here, Megan is leaving some sort of public establishment as people around her say/shout, “Free Tory.” Meg, though, was seemingly unbothered as she put her hand over her mouth and made a sassy grimacing facial expression.

In her statement for Lanez’s sentencing in 2023, Meg wrote to the judge in part, “I want you to know that since I was viciously shot by the defendant a little over three years ago, I have not experienced a single day of peace. I have been tormented and terrorized in every degree by the defendant. He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma. […] He treated my trauma like a joke when I could have died that day. […] Today I beg this court to send a message to every victim of violence and fully hold the defendant accountable for his criminal conduct. This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence. His crime warrants the full weight of the law.”

The Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez case may have already wrapped up, but it continues to follow each artist around. In the latter’s case, it’s in the form of a guilty sentence behind bars that’s still developing and evolving, and in the former’s case, it’s Tory supporters still trolling her online and even in person. Moreover, a clip recently emerged of some onlookers yelling “Free Tory” in the Houston femcee’s direction as she exited a public location. She held her hand up to her mouth with a winced expression when she heard them, hilariously suggesting that something was stinky.

Furthermore, Megan Thee Stallion is still side-stepping much of the heated discourse that remains in the fallout of the Tory Lanez case. Whether it’s through a hot new album and tour, some sultry IG thirst traps, more brand partnerships, and wholesome fan engagement, she kept things busy to distract from the less fun parts of fame. This whole debacle over the shooting continues to spark contentious and combative takes from either side, and it became a pretty nasty development to witness. Alas, that’s just how some Internet debates go, and we hope that both fanbases can move on to brighter days ahead.

However, there’s also some alleged beef brewing between Megan Thee Stallion and frequent collaborator Cardi B, or at least, that’s what a select few fans fear. This stems from Cardi’s recent comments on her still-unreleased sophomore album, particularly how she suggested that not many albums are doing well commercially in the summer. Since MEGAN dropped in late June, many felt that this could’ve been a shot at her. But the Bronx artist maintained that this wasn’t directly or indirectly throwing shade: just speaking facts.

Meanwhile, the first week sales for Megan Thee Stallion’s new album were still a hot topic of debate online, but for very different reasons. Rather than the Bardi Gang taking aim, it was the Barbz who flaunted Nicki Minaj’s success with Pink Friday 2 in Meg’s face. Tory Lanez Unearths Two More Lost Tapes, “Phases / Someone Else”

When some artists go to jail or prison, they are not able to keep their fans interest. That could be because their music does not to hold up while they are inactive, or the listeners just are not loyal enough to where they need to constantly find the next best thing. Also playing into that is the rapper’s team either not wanting to push out new/unreleased material, or the artist is refusing to do so. For Tory Lanez, though, things are different, as the Canadian multi-talent is back with two new tracks, “Phases” and “Someone Else”.

The first of them is a 2017 recording, while the latter is from his early prime days in 2015. These are continuing his “Lost Tapes” series, something that the singer and rapper is doing to ensure a tight-knit connection with his listeners. Overall, “Phases” and “Someone Else”, see Tory Lanez once again in his melodic R&B bag. Out of all of the now four releases so far, the former is the most rap centric cut. On it, Tory talks about the common ups and downs in relationships. “Someone Else”, the incarcerated MC has a sneaking suspicion that his girl is cheating so he goes and throws himself a lean party with other random women. Both tracks are once again produced by his close friend and collaborator, Play Picasso.

Tory Lanez Digs Up Some “Lost Tapes” From 2016 Called “Girls Around The World” & “I’ve Been”

Tory Lanez is still giving fans some heat even though he remains behind bars in the form of the “(Lost Tapes)”. These are a handful of tracks that were recorded by the Canadian melodic rapper in 2016. Both “Girls Around The World” and “I’ve Been” are also self-produced, along with some help from his frequent collaborator, Play Picasso. The latter has helped make some of the rapper/singer’s biggest tracks such as “Traphouse” “LUV” and more. Their chemistry is highly underrated and if you have not heard a lot of their work together, we highly recommend you check out their catalog.

Overall, these two “Lost Tapes” cuts from Tory Lanez see him in his R&B bag. Fans debate back and forth whether or not they think singing Tory or rapping Tory is better. It is certainly a tough question to answer, and that versatility is why the Canadian has gained such a following over the years. On “Girls Around The World”, he experiments with the Afrobeats genre as he swoons over women from Africa. Then on “I’ve Been”, Tory is trying to win back a former lover over a sexier and moodier club-ready beat. Hopefully, these two “Lost Tapes” are a part of a full project of the same.

Yung Joc Apologizes To Megan Thee Stallion After Publicly Doubting Her

Megan Thee Stallion was put through the ringer during her legal battle against Tory Lanez. Many believed that she was making false accusations against the R&B singer. These same people went after her publicly, and predicted that Lanez would prevail. Obviously, that did not happen. Lanez was found guilty and sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Megan in the foot. Megan Thee Stallion was vindicated, and several people have come forward to issue an apology. Yung Joc is the latest.

Yung Joc went on Streetz Morning Takeover to make his apology official. He told the hosts that he was wrong for doubting Megan Thee Stallion. “I apologize for not supporting you in your moment and believing in the whole situation with you and Tory Lanez,” he stated. “I still have questions, ’cause I’m human.” The rapper also made reference to the bet. In short, he promised to shave his head if Lanez went to prison. “I think that the moment when I made the bet,” he recalled. “Although we did it in a fun kinda way–maybe, just maybe, I was out of line for doing that.”

Yung Joc didn’t stop there. The “Buy U A Drank” rapper followed through on the bet, and shaved his head in light of the guilty verdict. “I lost the bet,” he told the Morning Takeover hosts. “And somewhere in there, we may have been a little buffoonish. ‘Cause I really made a bet that this man was gon’ get off, and he didn’t. And I lost my hair. I’m sorry, Meg.” Yung Joc revealed that he was inspired to make an apology after Shannon Sharpe did the same on his podcast, Club Shay Shay.

Like Yung Joc, Sharpe expressed doubt over Lanez’s guilt. He tried to correct his mistake, however, by having Megan Thee Stallion on his podcast on July 2. He cleared the air right in front of her. “I believe the joke wouldn’t been just as funny if I would’ve left you out of it,” Sharpe explained. “So for any unwanted attention, harm, shame, embarrassment that I caused you or your family. I wanna say as a man, as I sit here before you, I apologize.”

Tory Lanez’s Wife Reportedly Filed For Divorce After Less Than A Year Of Marriage

Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, received some more bad news this week, as Raina Chassagne, his wife of less than a year, has filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ.

Chassagne reportedly married Tory, with whom she shares a seven-year-old son, after he was convicted last year, which was revealed by court documents requesting a suspension of his prison sentence in favor of court-appointed rehab. The bail motion was the first time Chassagne was referred to as Tory’s wife rather than his fiancée. Chassagne also requests custody of the couple’s son, Kai.

In a post about the reveal, legal affairs reporter Meghan Cuniff, who covered the case extensively, wrote, “A new lawyer filed a motion this week asking that 31-year-old Lanez be allowed to halt his prison sentence and instead ‘live locally in the Los Angeles area’ with his new wife and their six-year-old son. The filing is the first time the mother of Lanez’s child has been deserved as his wife. Last filing she was his fiancée. A jailhouse wedding and marriage!”

Tory has secured a new lawyer for his appeal, engaging the services of David Kenner, who previously represented Suge Knight.

Tory Lanez’s Wife Files For Divorce Amidst His Prison Sentence

Tory Lanez’s fall from grace has been steep. The singer is currently serving a ten year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. He was convicted of “first-degree assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle” in 2023, and not be eligible for parole until September 2029. When his parole hearing arises, however, Lanez will be a single man. His wife of less than a year, Raina Chassagne, has officially filed a divorce petition.

TMZ reports that Chassagne filed the petition during the first week of June. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as her reasoning, and is lobbying to get sole custody of their son, Kai. Lanez and Chassagne got married on June 25, 2023, meaning the union failed to last even one year. That being said, the timing of their wedding had many insiders theorizing that there was an ulterior motive. Back in September, legal journalist Meghann Cuniff noted that Lanez’s bail motion coincided with his decision to get engaged and then married to Chassagne in quick succession.

It was widely speculated that Tory Lanez tied the knot when he did, so that he could avoid deportation back to Canada. “From his sentencing hearing engagement announcement to his bail motion wedding announcement,” Cuniff tweeted. “Tory Lanez’s relationship status has advanced rapidly in the last few weeks. His fiancée is now his wife, according to the motion.” Raina Chassagne brought her son to visit Lanez in prison. Daily Mail reported that she was seen sobbing during the R&B singer’s sentencing. She also tried to urge the judge to exercise leniency in Lanez’s sentencing. She cited his dedication as a dad, but the plea did not prove effective.

Tory Lanez has discussed the importance of his son in his life. In 2022, he told HNHH that Kai was born the day he was arrested. “What a lot of people don’t know [is] the day my son was born was the day I got locked,” he noted. “April 12th. I was coming out of the hospital, I was leaving the parking lot. I didn’t even get out of the parking lot.. But that’s something special about the day he was born. I’ll always remember it.” The singer also made reference to Chassagne, claiming they had a good relationship. “I’m not one of those child support … you know, situations. We’ve got a good understanding of what’s going on.” It looks like things have changed.

Eminem Disses Megan Thee Stallion On New Single “Houdini”

Eminem is back in Slim Shady mode. There are lots of different ways to tell. For one, the rapper’s new album will be called The Death of Slim Shady. The music video for his lead single, “Houdini,” features the classic, bleach blond Slim in action. The most telling side effect of a Slim Shady sighting, however, is the lyrical insult. Eminem’s alter ego loves to take shots at his peers, his predecessors, and pretty much any other person he can think of. He targets multiple people in “Houdini,” but the most notable is far and away Megan Thee Stallion.

Eminem turned the zaniness up to ten on the new single. He tells Dr. Dre to “f*ck off,” and does to the same to his children (one of whom just got married). Both Dre and his family are been topics of scorn and adoration over the years, however. Megan Thee Stallion is someone new. The rapper flipped a line about scoring a guest verse from Megan into a double entendre about Tory Lanez shooting her in the foot. “If I was to ask for Megan Thee (What?) Stallion if she would collab with me,” he raps. “Would I really have a shot at a feat? (Haha). I don’t know, but I’m glad to be back like.”

Eminem Mocks Megan Thee Stallion’s Shooting Injury

It’s a clever turn of phrase, but a topic that has not been received by the hip-hop community. Rappers who have poked fun at Megan Thee Stallion have either been scored by fans or Megan herself, in the form of a diss. Megan managed to win her battle with Nicki Minaj while dropping a number one single, “HISS,” in the process. The diss song, which dropped in January, is actually relevant to the current Em situation. Megan Thee Stallion made an oblique reference to Slim Shady on “HISS.” “I feel like Mariah Carey (Mariah Carey),” she rapped. “Got these n**has so obsessed (Damn).”

The line is meant to address Megan’s haters, but it’s also a reference to the 2008 Mariah Carey diss song “Obsessed.” The target of Mimi’s diss was, infamously, Eminem. The tension between the pop superstar and the rapper ran throughout the 2000s, and many feel like the former won out with a hit single. Eminem dissing Megan Thee Stallion over a subliminal actually makes a lot of sense. Eminem knows how to hold a grudge against rappers who slight him. He waited years to respond to MGK on record, and when he did, he demolished the pop-punk artist. It’ll be interesting to see if Megan Thee Stallion decides to respond.

Megan Thee Stallion Explains Why “HISS” Single Helped Her Depression

Megan Thee Stallion may be one of the most popular rappers in the world, but she’s had a difficult path to success. Her rise to fame coincided with a lengthy legal battle against Torey Lanez. The battle ended with Lanez receiving jail time, but a lot was said about Megan’s character that affected her self esteem. The rapper admitted that she felt ganged up on by the rest of the music industry as a result. She talked about this difficult period during a recent profile with L’OFFICIEL, and how the single “HISS” helped her get out of it.

Megan Thee Stallion told the outlet that she fell into a depression during the Lanez trial. “I felt so awful every day,” she admitted. “It was such a hard place to get out of. I don’t even want to care who hates me, really. What I should be focusing on is the love that I do receive.” The rapper said that this period helped her develop a thick skin. “That’s what I’m trying to get better about now,” she asserted. “Everything is not going to be great all the time. If I’m going to be here for the cheers, I got to be here for the boos.”

Megan Thee Stallion Felt Validated By The Song’s Success

It’s fitting that music was the thing that revived Megan’s spirit. The rapper was being attacked from all sides, including from Nicki Minaj. The two had thrown shots at each other previously, but it turned up a notch at the top of 2024. It was, in many ways, a precursor to the year of rap battles that we’ve had so far. Megan Thee Stallion put out the Nicki Minaj diss “HISS,” and it went straight to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. “Hiss” marked the rapper’s third number one single and first as a solo artist. It also was a shot of confidence at a much-needed time in her life.

“It felt good to finally be able to just talk my talk because I was in a place where I was so down, and I didn’t want to do anything to disrupt any kind of peace,” she opined. “I felt like, ‘Oh, Megan Thee Stallion, everybody hates you right now. Don’t you say a word. Just be quiet.’” “HISS” was also an opportunity to prove that she had what it took to go at the queen of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj, and come out the victor. This came as a surprise to even Megan herself. “I absolutely did not know it was going to do all of that,” she told the outlet. “I had no clue that was going to happen. It felt like everybody was kicking me when I was down.” If that’s not a remedy for depression, we don’t know what is.
