Iggy Azalea Hired Tory Lanez As Executive Producer On Her Next Album, Her Letter Says

Iggy Azalea’s letter to the judge regarding Tory Lanez’s sentence is out in full, and people have had no shortage of shocked, amused, indignant, or straight-up appalled reactions. Moreover, one of the most interesting parts of the letter has to do with the two artists’ continuous working relationship. In one part of her statement, the Australian rapper says that “if [Tory] is able to remain in the United States after he has served time, [she] would employ him without hesitation as an executive producer on [her] next album.” “In fact – I already hired him for the job prior to his conviction!” she expressed.

Furthermore, this is one of many defenses Iggy Azalea made in relation to the Canadian artist’s character. In addition, she also asked Judge David Herriford to consider a sentence that would be “transformational and not life destroying.” For example, the 33-year-old wishes that this sentence will not involve deportation to Canada so that he can continue to support his family and have work and income during his incarceration by being an artist in the U.S. “Any leniency you may afford him would be something you could be proud of,” Azalea stated.

Iggy Azalea’s Letter To Tory Lanez

Of course, after this letter’s full reveal, many people called her out for her explanatory Twitter post just days before. In it, Iggy Azalea claimed that she hasn’t been in contact with him for a very long time. Many felt that such a point became moot after the letter seemed to indicate that she spoke to Tory Lanez as soon as February of this year. Still, there is a lot of nuance to Azalea’s letter that the reality of Lanez’s crimes obfuscates. As she says, there’s a difference between rehabilitative punishment and punitive incarceration, but with a case as toxic and divisive as this, the threshold for forgiveness lessens.

Meanwhile, this is among the first times that his future music career fell under significant scrutiny following his release. Many haven’t yet thought about what the next ten years holds for him concerning his career. That conversation will surely roll around soon, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s able to still get play from behind bars despite what he was convicted of, as disappointing as that is for many. Regardless, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Tory Lanez and Iggy Azalea.

Tory Lanez Will Have Time Served Shaved From His 10-Year Prison Sentence For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday, August 8, nearly eight months after he was found guilty on three felony counts — assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence — in connection to shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet in July 2020.

The following day, Los Angeles legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff provided yet another update.

“Lanez will be credited for 231 days he’s already spent in jail, and he gets 15% credit of 34 days,” Cuniff posted to X (formerly known as Twitter). “[Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David] Herriford also is crediting his 40 days of house arrest, for a total of 305 days. He’ll request bail pending appeal, which will be heard Aug. 15. (Extremely unlikely to be granted.).”

In March, Lanez and his defense requested a new trial as “the only acceptable remedy for this miscarriage of justice,” which was denied in May. Cuniff reported in June that LA prosecutors were seeking a 13-year prison sentence for Lanez.

The week before Lanez’s sentencing, his defense filed a 41-page memo making the case for Lanez to receive probation and rehabilitation instead of prison time. Lanez received 70-plus letters of support to be presented to Judge Herriford for consideration, including one from Iggy Azalea.

Iggy Azalea’s Full Letter To Tory Lanez Gets Wild Reactions On Twitter

Tory Lanez’s sentencing is sweeping pretty much every media corner right now, and Iggy Azalea is, oddly enough, at the forefront. Moreover, social media users had a field day when the judge in Lanez’s case revealed that the Australian rapper and singer sent him a letter in support of him, one of over 70 that came in. Later on, she denied supporting him explicitly, and simply said that she was asked to give her honest opinion on the matter. However, after journalist Meghann Cuniff published the entire letter online, people blasted Azalea for her apparent lies and statements.

“I would not write to you on behalf of an abuser,” Iggy Azalea said of Tory Lanez in the letter. “I refuse to believe that he would do anything in malice especially to a woman. He said this is an opportunity to humble himself and soften his heart- ironic to hear one of the kindest people I know strive to become even kinder. I’m not shocked- Its who he is. Watering and shining light on others until something beautiful grows. Daystar Peterson is not the pest you’ve heard about, he’s a gardener. He helps others bloom.”

Iggy Azalea’s Letter To Tory Lanez

Of course, a lot of people clowned the flowery and generous portrayal of the Canadian artist. However, a more salient point was that Iggy Azalea did seem quite supportive of him, even as she claimed that she hadn’t spoken to him in a long time. From what this letter indicated, the 33-year-old reached out to him around February, and many took issue with her trying to cover that part up. Still, it’s easy to put her statements out of context. Whether she directly addressed the Megan Thee Stallion situation or not, her attempt to exalt Tory Lanez makes it hard to see it as anything other than full support.

Meanwhile, a lot of people also took issue with Iggy’s comments given that she alleged mistreatment at the hands of her former partner Playboi Carti. As such, many called her hypocritical for this support. Amid all those criticisms, though, this letter in full only made people clown her even more. Check out some reactions to the letter down below.

Twitter Reacts To The Letter

Regardless of this situation, this sentence already changed significantly. It’s probably going to keep doing so, and the discourse surrounding it will likely permeate for a long time. After all, this letter just added another element to an already wild, contentious, and scandalous trial. For more news and the latest updates on Iggy Azalea and Tory Lanez, check back in with HNHH.

The Letter Iggy Azalea Wrote For The Tory Lanez Shooting Trial Has Been Shared In Full

Before Tory Lanez was sentenced to a decade in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, it was reported that Iggy Azalea wrote a letter to the judge on behalf of Lanez, which she later addressed. Now, we have the full letter.

Meghann Cuniff, a legal affairs journalist who has been covering the trial and sentencing, obtained a copy of the letter, which was written in February. Azalea wrote, “I deeply appreciate the person he is and have never witnessed him loose his temper or raise his voice at a woman. He’s always been incredibly respectful of me and I refuse to believe that he would do anything in malice especially to a woman.”

She also noted, “I must make note of the things ive suffered through so that you understand definitively: I would not write to you on behalf of an abuser.”

Read the full letter below.

“Dear Honorable Judge Herriford,

I’m writing to you in regards to a case in your court.

My name is Iggy Azalea and I’ve been a successful musician for the last decade.

Ive sold over 65 million records throughout my career, had number 1 hits on the billboard hot 100 and broken records previously held by ‘The Beatles’.

My music has been nominated for 6 Grammys and I have a multitude of other musical awards.

Throughout my career I’ve toured with some of the biggest acts in music: from Beyonce to Pitbull.
Ive also collaborated with everyone from Britney Spears to Jenifer Lopez. In short, like yourself, I’m great at what I do and I’m well respected by my peers.

Becoming successful is incredibly hard to do and maintaining success is even harder.

The music industry is not designed to empower Artists – especially not women.

You learn to expect misogyny at every turn, no matter how much you’ve personally achived.

Sadly I’ve spent my entire career battling sexism and bad behavior behind the curtains.

One unfortunate consequence of that is I am victim of abuse myself.

I must make note of the things ive suffered through so that you understand definitively:
I would not write to you on behalf of an abuser.

In fact, its the very reason I felt it imperative I share my viewpoint as a woman in music: in regard to Daystar Peterson.

You are presiding over his case and It would mean a great deal to me if you’d please let me share with you why ‘Tory Lanez’ is far from your average entitled rap star.

I believe in justice and I know you do too. You’ve dedicated your life’s work to it and I respect that deeply.

Thats why im taking my time to do this, because I know the person you are understands in order to truly conclude what a fair sentence is, You need better understanding of who the person you’re sentencing IS at their core.

Judge Herriford, I was elated when I saw your name in relation to this trial because you have a reputation of being a very fair judge.

In fact its one of the reasons I was sadnned Daystar had subpar legal counsel and did not take the stand at his own trial.

We’ve all been frozen in fear before. The unfortunate side effect of his choice is he’s been painted in the most unrecognizable way: to you, the jury and the public.

Daystar Peterson is not the pest you’ve heard about, he’s a gardener. He helps others bloom. Any leniency you may afford him would be something you could be proud of.

You see, daystar has been helping me from the moment I met him. Our paths crossed in 2018 while working in the same recording studio. Although he was writing music for another artist, he took the initiative to come to my room in his break time and play song ideas he’d written for me too.

This resonated with me because it’s highly unusual for someone who’s already very successful to want to help others.

Music is competitive in that way.

We’ve remained friends since and what I’ve come to understand about Daystar is: he’s genuinely passionate about helping others. He will go out of his way to help someone he sees even a glimmer of greatness inside.

Although he’s an incredible songwriter, it’s my belief this is his true gift.

Seeing what could be, and becoming the driving force to make it happen.

He battled and overcame some incredible odds on his pathway to success, in many ways he’s still battling now.

I think that’s one of the reasons he always fights hard to elevate others.

One of my favorite examples of this is the story of how he came to hire his personal assistant; Mario.

Daystar was stopped at a red-light with his window down when a guy in his early twenties yelled from the sidewalk:

‘Im chasing a dream too and ill do anything to work with you! Im working for postmates! Please let me give you my resume.’

Shockingly Daystar took his number, called the next day and interviewed him for a job.
He wasn’t in need of another employee. Still he created an internship and later a full time job for Mario. Ive seen him silently help people empower themselves in this way time and time again.

He creates space for others to be great.

I deeply appreciate the person he is and have never witnessed him loose his temper or raise his voice at a woman.

He’s always been incredibly respectful of me and I refuse to believe that he would do anything in malice especially to a woman.

Ive witnessed him defuse so many sticky situations with kindness and humor, he is the last person to loose his cool.

I’ve never encountered this jealous, rage filled person he’s accused of being. I know him to be someone who’s always bursting with happiness. In the moments you want to cry, if you call daystar, he will find a way to make you laugh.

Since Daystar remains in jail, many of his employees are left without work. I took it upon myself to hire six of his staff members, full time.

I did this not only because they are great hardworking people, but so that they remain in a position to transition back into running his business when he’s completed his sentence. Im doing all I can to make sure he’s in a position to come home and get back to work.

I hope that you’ll consider a sentence that allows for this to be transformational and not life destroying. Not only for Daystar – but for his family, son and the countless others who depend on him & are committed to helping him reach his full potential.

If daystar is able to remain in the United States after he has served his time, I would employ him without hesitation as an executive producer on my next album.
In fact – I already hired him for the job prior to his conviction!

I guarantee to you he has significant income and work awaiting him upon release if you would kindly consider a sentence that does not require deportation.

I have remained in close contact with him during his incarceration and I am confident he has already gained positive insight in regard to this experience. He leads a prayer circle nightly and is already empowering others during his time in Jail.

In fact when we spoke last week, told me he’s glad God put him in jail. He said this is an opportunity to humble himself and soften his heart – ironic to hear one of the kindest people I know strive to become even kinder.

Im not shocked – Its who he is!

Watering and shinning light on others until something beautiful grows.

Thank you for taking the time to hear what I have to say in relation to Daystars character.

Kind regards,

Iggy Azalea.”

DJ Akademiks Tells Megan Thee Stallion To “Bring The Lawsuit”

DJ Akademiks has long been a supporter of Tory Lanez which must have made his sentencing yesterday sting a bit. After a long-lasting trial over a shooting that took place years ago, Lanez’ fate is finally clear. The rapper will spend 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in July of 2020. After being found guilty in December of 2022 he was officially sentenced to 10 years behind bars yesterday. In the fallout of the case one of Lanez’ lawyers specifically pointed out that Lanez had been leaking court documents and medical information to Akademiks.

It was long suspected that DJ Akademiks had been receiving material from Lanez and his response to it came off a bit unhinged. When a fan in his comment section suggests he should be arrested, Ak loses it. In the following rant, he references a long-lasting beef he’s had with Megan Thee Stallion after being mentioned on her Instagram story. Megan accused him of being a “blog on payroll” and of purposefully spreading misinformation. Now in this new rant Akademiks has a simple message for everyone criticizing him, “bring the lawsuit.”

DJ Akademiks Asks To Be Sued

Fans in the comments of a repost of Akademiks’ video clearly sided with Megan more. “This level of rage towards a woman who you don’t even know is wild!” reads one of the top comments. “He don’t need a lawsuit. He need that chair from Alabama,” another comment jokes. Elsewhere in the comments fans speculate on why Akademiks seems to start beef with almost any woman he can. “I’m convinced he hates all women,” reads one suggestion. “He must have Mommy issues, bc he always have so much aggression towards women,” says another.

Following the announcement of the sentencing yesterday, Tory Lanez offered Megan Thee Stallion an apology. He claimed to still see Megan as a friend and explained why they connected to each other in the first place. What do you think of DJ Akademiks newest livestreamed rant? Let us know in the comment section below.

Tory Lanez Spoke About Bonding With ‘Friend’ Megan Thee Stallion Before Being Sentenced To Prison For Shooting Her

After years in limbo, the Tory Lanez/Megan Thee Stallion situation has finally reached a resolution: Yesterday (August 8), Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Meg. Before the sentence was handed down, though, Lanez spoke in court.

Meghann Cuniff, a legal affairs journalist who has been closely covering the trial and sentencing, reported, “Lanez spoke for several minutes, asking [Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford] to not send him to prison. He called Megan ‘someone I still care for dearly to this day’ regardless of what she may think of him. He said ‘the victim’s my friend.’ He talked about bonding with her over the loss of their mothers. ‘We both lost our mothers. We would sit there and drink, and drink until we got numb,’ he said.”

TMZ also summarized what he said:

“Tory Lanez addressed the court before he was sentenced saying he wanted a chance, has a son that needs him and to better himself. He asked the judge to allow him the opportunity to prove himself and understood just how serious the charges were against him.

He also addressed the public’s views about him, saying he’s not a monster without sympathy or remorse … and apologized for his mistakes the night of the incident.

Tory said Megan Thee Stallion was a friend to him, and they both bonded over the fact they lost their mothers. Tory took full responsibility for his wrongs, and once again asked for a chance to prove he’d learned his lessons.”

Tory Lanez Has Been Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet, according to Los Angeles court reporter Meghann Cuniff. Cuniff, who has been following and reporting the case via her independent newsletter, Legal Affairs And Trials, since the beginning, attended the sentencing hearing, which saw the judge, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford, read out letters of support for the Canadian rapper, including one from Iggy Azalea. Cuniff’s work has earned her the affectionate nickname of “Meghann Thee Reporter” from followers online.

Tory was initially accused of shooting Megan in the summer of 2020 after a flirtation early in the year during quarantine that entertained and amused fans of the two rappers. Unfortunately, after party in the Hollywood Hills that July, Lanez was arrested for having a concealed weapon and Megan revealed that she’d been shot shortly thereafter, after initially telling police she’d cut herself on glass out of fear (this was just after the death of George Floyd).

A protracted dispute followed in which Lanez maintained his innocence, casting aspersions on Megan’s account of the shooting through surrogates and terrorizing her alongside DaBaby, who was also rumored to have had a fling with Thee Stallion. After multiple delays in the case, Tory was found guilty in December 2022 of assault with a firearm causing great bodily injury; concealing a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

While prosecutors recommended 13 years in prison, Tory’s defense asked for probation and rehab, but only after trying and failing to have the trial declared a mistrial and to have Judge Herriford removed from the case. Tory is reportedly planning to appeal with the help of Suge Knight’s former legal team.

Journalist Meghann Cuniff shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday (August 8) afternoon. She confirmed that the Chix Tapes creative has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Lanez reportedly gave a lengthy speech in court. He said that he still “dearly cares for” his victim, no matter what she thinks of them. “The victim is my friend,” he said of the rap diva. Tory Lanez was Finally Sentenced

“I said some very immature things that I shouldn’t have said. I revealed some secrets I shouldn’t have revealed,” he also admitted to everyone in attendance. Earlier today, the case’s District Attorney called Lanez out for lacking accountability by attempting to blame his alleged alcohol problem for his actions. His latest comments appear to be the first signs of remorse the world has heard from the R&B crooner. She didn’t appear in court herself this week. Still, Megan gave a statement asking the judge to not consider showing her shooter any mercy.

“He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media,” she wrote. While waiting for the final verdict in Tory Lanez’s case today, a supporter of the artist went viral from outside the courthouse. In a series of videos, she’s been bashing his victim, blaming Thee Stallion for having to take time off work to come and support her shooter.
