Xzibit Brought Some Funk And Great Rhyme Schemes To “Alkaholik” Featuring Erick Sermon, J-Ro, & Tash

Xzibit has noticeably slowed down since 2020. That was the last year that the iconic West Coast rapper put out a full-length album. It was a collaborative record with B-Real and Demrick, called Serial Killers Presents: Summer of Sam. But, we all need to remember that the Dr. Dre collaborator possessed some incredible talent. That is why we want to go back in the time machine and look at his most successful record.

23 years ago today, Restless dropped. It was a 16-song, 59-minute-long album that featured the likes of Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and many others. One of the tracks that so many remember from this tape is “Alkaholik.” That had placements from J-Ro, Erick Sermon, and Tash.

The song effortlessly mixed funkiness with tremendous rhyming from Xzibit and the gang. “Alkaholik” interpolates the production from Kelis’ “Caught Out There.” What makes the sample so great is that on this track it takes on a vintage video game-like feeling. Everyone brought the right energy for this party-ready classic.

What were your initial thoughts on “Alkaholik” by Xzibit, Erick Sermon, J-Ro, and Tash when it first came out? Is this the best song off of Restless, if not what is better? Do you think this is Xzibit’s best album, why or why not? Who had the best performance on this track? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Xzibit. Kid Cudi, Skepta, & Pop Smoke Effortlessly Blended Psychedelic Trap And Drill On “Show Out”

Kid Cudi’s Man On the Moon series has been a cherished one ever since the first one debuted back in 2009. Each installment has provided some iconic hip-hop tracks for the 2010s decade and has helped define Cudster as an artist. What we have come to know and love about the Cleveland, Ohio native is that he is a malleable talent who is not afraid to try different sounds.

One of the prime examples of this occurs on his third entry, Man On the Moon III: The Chosen. We wanted to take a look back as the album is now three years old. Arguably the most memorable and well-put-together song is “Show Out.” On face value, you might be scratching your head as to how this would make sense. Seeing Skepta and Pop Smoke, two of the best drill artists, with a psychedelic pop rapper, does not sound like a recipe for success.

However, when you hear this song, everything just clicks. The beat from Dot da Genius is woozy and atmospheric, while also incorporating the familiar drill production style. On top of that, all of the performances are great. Pop does wonders on the hook. His smoky voice layers perfectly on top of the instrumental. Skepta shreds his verse with ease and Cudi finds a nice pocket on the drill and spacey ends of the beat. Another chance taken, another success for Cudi.

What were your initial thoughts on “Show Out” by Kid Cudi, Skepta, and Pop Smoke, off Man On the Moon III: The Chosen? Is this the best song from this album? Who had the best performance on the track? Does this record still hold a place in your rotation, why or why not? Finally, is where does this Man On the Moon installment rank amongst the rest? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Kid Cudi, Pop Smoke, and Skepta.

Quotable Lyrics:

Clip in the stick, stick in the coat (Boom)

PnB Rock’s Girlfriend Celebrates His 32nd Birthday With Throwback Snaps: Photos

PnB Rock’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, is making sure that her late boo’s legacy is kept alive and well, and that he continues to impact his loved ones in positive ways. Moreover, Friday (December 9) marked what would’ve been his 32nd birthday, if not for the tragic shooting that took his life in September of last year. On Instagram, the rapper’s baby mama posted various throwback snaps of some good times together in order to commemorate the occasion. “Happy Glo Day To The Best To Ever Do It!” she wrote as her post’s caption on the social media platform. “I Still Hate Every [ninja emoji] That’s Not You! I Love & Miss You.”

A couple of months ago, Sibounheuang reflected on the one-year anniversary of PnB Rock’s passing. “I’ve been in the deepest depression for a lil min contemplating todays date, which makes a year since your transition,” she expressed on Instagram. “I argued with God about openly reliving this day and i absolutely did not want to, so this is an act of obedience. This same day last year, you could look into my eyes and and tell my soul was not in my body. All I could hear were the gunshots over and over and they were so LOUD I couldn’t hear myself think. I was so terrified and heartbroken.

Drake Posts Throwback Pics While Reminiscing On His Relationships: Photos

Apparently Drake is feeling quite nostalgic these days, because he just took to Instagram with a throwback post on Sunday (December 10). Moreover, it features pictures of him from presumably over ten years ago, whether it’s with drinks, family at a meal, what looks like a record company or label office, or with his friends and partners. It’s always wild to look back at Drizzy’s earlier phases, as you can tell how much fashion has changed and you’re reminded that this wasn’t the biggest star in the world at one point. Recently, he also shared a clip of himself singing along to one of his old songs, so maybe he’s just in a reminiscent mood.

“I’m a nice guy but deep down a ice cold Toronto soul in a mink coat… but if you knew me back then you should already know,” Drake’s latest Instagram throwback post’s caption read. “ATF Precise Ent. Heartfelt Music Group Get Faded.” In addition to looking back on the past, the Toronto superstar is also making sure to spend some quality time with fans whenever he gets the chance. While on vacation, he bought some fans a round of shots, which they surely appreciated a lot.

Drake’s Throwback Pics: Take A Look

Meanwhile, Drake recently appeared as a featured guest on “Needle,” one of many highlights off of the new album Pink Friday 2. Considering how important Young Money’s come-up was and how much they helped each other along the way, we love to see him and Nicki Minaj remain on good terms and supporting each other. We just wish that Aubrey Graham would’ve also included Queen Barb on his latest record, For All The Dogs, but alas, we were unlucky. Plenty of fans took this further and got straight-up mad, but you can’t always get what you want.

Also, there are these beef rumors with Metro Boomin that might be one of the biggest tragedies when it comes to two artists we love not getting along. Do you think they’re really on bad terms or are we reading too deeply into things? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section down below. J. Cole’s “January 28” Is In Contention For His Best Song Ever: “2014 Forest Hills Drive” Turns 9

There is that running joke around J. Cole about going platinum with no features. But, it is incredibly impressive what he was able to pull off. To put it in some context, he is the first rapper since 1990 to accomplish this. He achieved that on March 31, 2015. The record we are referring to is his 2014 record, Forest Hills Drive. A wide range of critics, listeners, and Cole fans will tell you that this is his greatest body of work.

Honestly, when you take a look at the tracklist, it is kind of easy to see why. Of course, everyone knows “No Role Modelz.” But, you have deeper cuts like “G.O.M.D.,” “Love Yourz,” and “Apparently.” The tape is now nine years old, but it is aging beautifully. Speaking of which, another one of those tracks that is still perfect is “January 28.”

While one-liners certainly do not make or break how good a song is, there are so many great ones on here. Some of them are below, but you can find a bevy of them. One example is, “Flow bananas, here, peel this back.” But, it is not just those, the overall writing is terrific. What’s the price for a black man life? I check the toe tag, not one zero in sight.” On top of that, the beat is mellow, but also hard-hitting, and Cole’s flows slip and slide through it.

What were your initial thoughts on J. Cole’s, “January 28,” from 2014 Forest Hills Drive? Is this the best song on this project, why or why not? Where does this song rank all-time in Cole’s discography? Overall, is this album his best body work? We would like to hear what you have you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around J. Cole.

Quotable Lyrics:

Like show me New York’s ladder
I climb it and set the bar so high that you gotta get Obama to force the air force to find it
Never mind it, you’ll never reach that

That’s every track, n****

PnB Rock Turns 32: Remembering Why He Was Able To Bring Great Vibes On Tracks Like “Lovin’”

The 2017 XXL Freshman Class is one of the best in recent memory. Sadly, we have tragically lost two of some of the very best along the way. XXXTENTACION and PnB Rock. Today, we celebrate what would have been the Philadelphia native’s 32nd birthday. Born Rakim Hasheem Allen on December 9, 1991, he was always able to provide listeners with great vibing music.

He was known by many for his hit song “Selfish” from his debut tape, GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions. But, he was much more than that. The R&B singer was a father to two beautiful daughters, Milan and Xuri Lee. Unfortunately, they will have to carry on without him after he was fatally shot during an armed robbery back in September 2022.

Relisten To “Lovin’” By PnB Rock And A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

We wanted to take the time to look back at one of Rock’s best tracks, to help continue to keep his legacy in people’s minds. One of those we can never forget is “Lovin’.” This song, featuring his close friend A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, landed on his debut album Catch These Vibes back in 2017. It has some of the best writing and perhaps the best beat as well. The bouncy production almost gives a bit of a throwback vibe. We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to Rock’s family and friends.

What were your initial thoughts on PnB Rock’s track, “Lovin’,” from Catch These Vibes featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie? Was this the best, or at least one of the top-tier songs from this project? Where does this cut rank amongst the rest of his hit songs? Was the 2017 XXL Freshman Class one of the best of all time? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for any news surrounding PnB Rock.

Juice WRLD Turns 25: He Had Everyone Enamored With What He Would Eventually Become On “Lucid Dreams”

Not every rapper who touches a microphone is destined to leave behind a lasting impact on the genre. There are just some who have a little extra something that almost every listener can get behind. One of those names was Juice WRLD. Born in the talent-rich city of Chicago back on December 2, 1998, Jarad Higgins was essentially an immediate success.

He broke through in 2018 with what many hip-hop heads and Juice fans would agree is his best album. It would be his debut LP, Goodbye & Good Riddance. It has almost officially been five years since its release on December 10. This may also be Juice’s hit-filled tracklist. You have tracks such as “All Girls Are The Same,” “Wasted” with Lil Uzi Vert, “Lean Wit Me,” and countless more. But, without a doubt, “Lucid Dreams” is Jarad’s magnum opus.

It was the song that put him on the map. Especially, with Lyrical Lemonade assisting in the production of the music video, it was a surefire mega song. It turned out to be just that, with over 942 million views on YouTube, 2.3 plus billion streams on Spotify, and going Diamond in February of 2022. It was so difficult to choose just one song that encapsulates what Juice meant and still means for hip-hop. But, that in and of itself is why he is such an icon and will be forever entrenched in the lore of the genre. Juice would have turned 25 today and we at HNHH wanted to remember him for everything he has done. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go to his family and friends.

What were your initial thoughts on Juice WRLD’s hit song, “Lucid Dreams?” Where does this song rank for you amongst the rest of his biggest tracks? Will anyone else in the emo rap scene be able to replicate the impact he has left behind? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. The Weeknd’s “Starboy” Turns Seven: Stream “Stargirl Interlude” Feat. Lana Del Rey To Celebrate

We’ve seen Abel Tesfaye, also known as The Weeknd, move through countless creative eras in his career so far, but arguably one of the best was Starboy. Today (November 25) marks the seven-year anniversary of the LP’s release, and to commemorate, we’re spotlighting the sole female collaboration on the tracklist. Tesfaye opens his album with the titular single featuring Daft Punk (who also appear on the closing title, “I Feel It Coming”), and we also hear bars from Future and Kendrick Lamar on “All I Know” and “Sidewalks” respectively.

The song we’ve chosen for your consideration, though, is “Stargirl Interlude” featuring Lana Del Rey. Very little singing is actually done over the synth-heavy beat, but the vocals we do hear from The Weeknd and his longtime friend are nothing short of dreamy. “I had a vision / A vision of my nails in the kitchen,” the “Diet Mountain Dew” hitmaker croons in a sultry tone after the intro. After further setting the sexy scene, Tesfaye takes over to sing words of affirmation over his counterpart.

Our Starboy Shines Alongside Lana Del Rey on “Stargirl Interlude”

“I just wanna see you shine ’cause I know you are a stargirl,” the Uncut Gems actor repeats as the nearly two-minute-long effort closes out. Elsewhere on Starboy, we hear Lana provide background vocals on “Party Monster,” and before that, she and Tesfaye connected on “Prisoner” for his Beauty Behind The Madness. Since then, the Canadian and American have also joined forces on “Lust For Life” in 2017.

Revisit Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd’s ethereal vocals on “Stargirl Interlude” above. Lil Baby Reveals What He Used To Make From Playing Shows In 2017

Like many other rappers, Lil Baby didn’t emerge as a fully-formed superstar overnight. With a new post on his Instagram story, he tried to remind fans of the work he put in and inspire them to do the same. He did so by sharing a spreadsheet of what he was paid for performances he did in 2017. While the numbers aren’t insignificant, they’re obviously far short of the type of payday he gets now. “Stay down keep grinding” the caption says suggesting to his fans that their hard work will pay off eventually.

In the comments, fans largely agree with his positive sentiment. “That’s still good money! Slow motion better den none!!” one of the top comments reads similarly highlighting the virtue of setting long-term goals. “Ngl that’s motivational frfr,” another one of the top comments on the post agrees. Others make observations about the spreadsheet itself. “His hometown Atl paid him the least meanwhile every other city showed the most love. Crazy,” one fan noticed. Check out the post and all the fan reactions to it below.

Lil Baby Tells Fans To Keep Grinding

Earlier this year, Lil Baby found himself playing host to a surprising criminal affair. During a show in Memphis, a fight broke out in the crowd which resulted in a shooting. Thankfully nobody was killed but one fan was shot and ultimately hospitalized. They shared a video from their hospital bed the next day clarifying what went down. A few weeks later a suspect in the case was finally arrested. Throughout the drama Baby was surprisingly quiet, making almost no acknowledgment of it at all.

Earlier this year, Lil Baby shared a video of a fan who got a tattoo of him. While she seemed honored by the gesture, fans online debated the quality and placement of the tat after seeing it. What do you think of Lil Baby’s message to fans to keep grinding by sharing what he used to make from playing shows? Let us know in the comment section below.

Metro Boomin Shuts Down Rumors That Andre 3000 Played The Flute On “Mask Off”

Over this past weekend, Andre 3000 put out something that many fans had been yearning for. That was his first-ever solo album. However, after over a decade of waiting a lot of people were severely disappointed when he announced there would be no rapping. But, there was still a large amount that excited, regardless that three stacks would be playing woodwind instruments across the record. After listeners have had some time to sit with the idea and New Blue Sun being released, the music world is loving it. Leading up to it, his interviews had some wondering about his other solo contributions and Metro Boomin was one to take advantage of that.

We are referencing Andre’s sit-down with GQ, in which he said this. “I’ve actually played some wind things that I’ve put out in the world that I called myself another name under different artists that are out there that, you know, I was just kinda testing it out in a way. From known artists, and they’ve been cool about keeping it secret.” Because of this Metro thought he could be a little tongue in cheek. He claimed that Andre played the flute that you hear on him and Future’s smash hit, “Mask Off.”

However, we now know that it was all jokes. According to Uproxx, Metro cleaned up the mess he created by addressing an Instagram post from Complex. It included a video of Metro claiming that one-half of OutKast was on the flute for the track. The media publication took it further, making it out that Andre did have a hand in the production. The super producer had enough and maybe took a debatable shot at everyone who thought he was serious. Under the post, he commented, “How are you all even considered a real news outlet?”

What are your initial thoughts on Metro Boomin officially putting the rumors of working with Andre 3000 to rest? Do you think his response was valid, or a little out of pocket? Should these two work together in the future? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this.
