In recent weeks, The Weeknd has been teasing seemingly a couple things. One is more mysterious, but it appears to be a new album. The other thing, we know what it is for certain: a special concert in São Paulo, Brazil on September 7.

It turns out you won’t have to head to South America to catch the performance: It was announced today (August 21) that the São Paulo performance will be livestreamed via YouTube. The broadcast is set to start on the 7th at 5 p.m. ET (8 p.m. PT), via The Weeknd’s YouTube channel.

The Weeknd says of the news in a statement:

“I’m so excited to announce that we’ll be live streaming my show from São Paulo, Brazil, so everyone around the world can be a part of this special night. I wish I could come to every city and town on earth, but moments like this give us the chance to connect in real time at least and share that energy together, no matter where you are.”

A press release notes the “highly anticipated performance is expected to feature chart-topping hits and potentially offer a glimpse into what’s next for the artist.” So, it seems the big show might just shed some light on the more mysterious parts of The Weeknd’s recent activity.

The Weeknd Reschedules Postponed “After Hours” Tour Dates

The Weeknd is heading back to The Land Down Under in just a couple of months, according to AllHipHop. Abel Tesfaye went on quite the historic tour last year celebrating his last two albums After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). The After Hours Til Dawn Tour became a global event, however a couple of stops were canceled due to “schedule and logistical constraints”. From November through December of 2023, The Weeknd was going to be closing things out in Australia and New Zealand. Because of this pretty vague reason for shutting the fans out, the Canadian superstar felt it wasn’t right to leave them hanging.

So, earlier today, The Weeknd shared this exciting update via Instagram. “AUSTRALIA, I didn’t forget about you 🖤 See you in October. Ticket presale Aug 22. 🇦🇺 LINK IN BIO”. Yes, he is returning for a short time, four days to be exact starting October 5 in Melbourne, Australia at Marvel Stadium. Additionally, he will be there on the 6. Then, after about two weeks, the “After Hours” hitmaker will then hop on a flight to Sydney for shows on the 22 and 23 at Accor Stadium.

Sadly, residents of Brisbane and Auckland, New Zealand are going to be missing out this time around. Originally, the After Hours Til Dawn Tour stops were two nights in Brisbane and two in Auckland. While fans of those respective areas were upset, the fact that The Weeknd is doing this to begin with shows how much he cares about his supporters. He said it himself in a statement, “I want to make sure you all know I hadn’t forgotten about you. When I return now, it will be the right time, and I promise it will be such a special experience. I can’t wait to see you all!”.

What are your thoughts on The Weekend heading back to Australia after previously canceling After Hours Til Dawn dates? Are you surprised he dropped the original Brisbane and Auckland stops? How do you feel about him returning after all this time later? When do you foresee him dropping new music? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. The Weeknd Delivers Another Tease of Chapter 3

The Weeknd Becomes First Artist in Spotify History to Reach 100 Million Monthly Listeners

The Weeknd continues to build anticipation for his upcoming project, Chapter 3, by dropping a new teaser on Instagram. Fans can now glimpse what’s to come with all three previews available for viewing on his account.

These teasers offer another look into the highly anticipated Chapter 3, hinting at the themes and sounds that will shape The Weeknd’s next musical chapter. The artist’s Instagram posts have already garnered significant attention, with fans eagerly speculating about the direction of the new project.

Stay tuned for more updates as The Weeknd continues to reveal more about Chapter 3.

Recently, The Weeknd’s one-time show in Sao Paulo shut down Ticketmaster Brazil because 420,000 people were trying to buy tickets.

The Weeknd announced an exclusive one-night-only stadium show in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Estádio MorumBIS, debuting a never-before-seen production.

The performance, produced by Live Nation, follows The Weeknd’s record-breaking 2022/2023 After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which saw incredible success across North America, Europe, the UK, and Latin America with over 60 sold-out stadium dates with over 3 million attendees. The tour included two stadium dates in São Paulo at Allianz Parque last October.

United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye will again partner with the U.N. World Food Programme to contribute funds from the São Paulo show to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. $1 local equivalent from each ticket sold will go to this important cause.

The Weeknd’s “Out Of Time”: Refreshing Our Memory Amid The Conclusion Of This Final Trilogy

These last two weeks have been an exciting stretch for The Weeknd’s fans. After leaving off with Dawn FM back in January of 2022, Abel would tweet out “I wonder. Did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?”. He shared that message shortly after his fifth studio album was released to the public and we can remember the hype levels rising. Right now, though, they are shooting up again after three cryptic teaser trailers revealing what’s in store for this final third. The most recent one titled “Unprepared certainty…” has numerous unreleased tracks playing throughout, giving us still a pretty blurry look into the future. Because of this, we are going back to The Weeknd’s last project and one track we are replaying quite a bit is “Out of Time”.

We will tell you this is for science, but it’s mostly because this track is so damn good. The production on this song is arguably the best on the entire album. Abel, Max Martin, Oscar Holter, and Oneohtrix Point Never, all did an amazing magic job incorporating the dreamy sample from the 1980’s a Japanese pop classic “Midnight Pretenders”. The Weeknd glides over this instrumental, as he gets real about the mistakes he’s made in the past and how his willingness to change is too late to save his relationship. It’s beautiful heartbreaking anthem and one that still captures our ears to this day. We hope he’s able to work some more of these types of sonics into a supposed melding of his ideas from Dawn FM and After Hours.

Lil Wayne Proudly Rocks XO Chain Amidst Drake And The Weeknd Beef

Lil Wayne has had beef before. The rapper went as JAY-Z multiple times in the 00s. He also squabbled with Pusha T and the rest of the Star Trak crew around the same time. In recent years, though, Weezy F. Baby has preferred to keep the peace. He’s cool with everybody not named Birdman. This approach has been most evident in 2024, when his protege Drake went to war with the rest of the superstars in the rap game. Lil Wayne has maintained support for Drake without getting too involved. The rapper’s recent style move, however, has some fans scratching their head.

Lil Wayne appeared in the music video for Jon Baptiste’s “Uneasy.” The rapper can be shirt playing the guitar while rocking multiple chains. Nothing too out of the ordinary, as Rebirth fans know. The Weeknd recently posted a screenshot from the 2023 music video, though, and highlighted a crucial detail. Weezy is rocking an XO chain in the video, which is in reference to The Weeknd’s label of the same name. The rapper is showing love to the XO crew, even though they’ve been embroiled in a beef with Drake for the better part of a year.

Lil Wayne Was Recently Accused Of Dissing Drake

Some fans have noted that the video dropped last August, but the decision to rock XO was still a bold one a year ago. Lil Wayne knows the situation between Drake and The Weeknd. The Canadian stars have been sniping at each other for the better part of a decade. Drake and The Weeknd even fired shots at each other on the songs “Family Matters” and “All to Myself,” respectively. What makes the situation even stranger is that Lil Wayne himself was accused of dissing Drake on a new Cordae song.

Wayne dropped a stellar guest verse on Cordae’s “Saturday Mornings.” The Young Money boss throws a few digs at a rapper, and calls them “sweet” like a Teddy Graham. Fans immediately seized on these bars and tied them back to Drake. It isn’t hard to see why. Drake’s surname is Graham, and if there’s a rapper who has been called “sweet” more often than the 6 God, we haven’t heard of him. The diss theory went away pretty quickly, but Lil Wayne did not clarify who he was talking about on the song. Is there Young Money beef brewing? Or do you think Weezy is simply showing love to another Canadian?

The Weeknd Is Bringing A New ‘Nightmare’ To Halloween Horror Nights At Universal Studios Hollywood

On the cover of his 2022 album Dawn FM, Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a The Weeknd, aged himself to look like an old man with wrinkles and a gray beard. But you know what’s even scarier than beholding the ravages of age? A haunted house attraction!

The Weeknd is returning to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood this year for The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy, an “authentic, one-of-a-kind horror experience with surprises at every turn and music by The Weeknd scored by seminal producer, artist, and seven-time Grammy award winner Mike Dean.” You can watch the announcement video above.

“The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy” is one of eight haunted houses coming to Universal Studios Hollywood, along with “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface,” “Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines,” “Insidious: The Further,” “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” and “A Quiet Place.” There’s also “Terror Tram: Enter the Blumhouse,” which features characters from Blumhouse movies like M3GAN, The Black Phone, Freaky, The Purge, and Happy Death Day. I don’t know what The Weeknd is teasing, but it better involve M3GAN.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood begins on Thursday, September 5, and continues on select nights until Sunday, November 3. For more information, including how to buy tickets, click here.

The Weeknd Shares New Music As He Continues To Mysteriously Tease… Something

There’s definitely something happening in the world of The Weeknd right now. Ever since he announced a special one-off concert in São Paulo, Brazil (set for September 7) last month, The Weeknd has delivered strong indications that a new album is on the way via teaser videos. Now, there’s yet another new one.

The new teaser, titled “Unprepared certainty…,” runs for three-and-a-half minutes and features new music playing throughout, as we see CGI visuals of a little boy exploring a creepy and surreal house in a stormy environment. As for the song, it’s more of an interlude or an intro than a verse-chorus-verse-chorus song, but it’s certainly lovely and atmospheric.

A previous teaser said, “There are three chapters to this tale,” which appears to indicate that The Weeknd is getting ready to release the final album of a trilogy that began with After Hours and continued with Dawn FM. A new album has yet to be formally announced, but perhaps it will soon given all the teasing The Weeknd has been doing lately. Perhaps a more concrete update will arrive as we get closer to the big Brazil concert that’s now almost exactly a month away.

Check out the video above.

The Weeknd Previews New Music With Cryptic Album Teaser: Watch

The Weeknd loves intrigue. He built his persona on being mysterious back in 2011. He’s continued to play with his image in shows like The Idol, and his various musical personas. The singer’s newest album looks to provide fans with more of the same. The Weeknd dropped a three-minute video on August 5, which is packed with nightmarish visuals and cryptic messages. We already know the Canadian superstar has a new album on the way, but the trailer fleshes out the upcoming concept, while at the same time giving the world a taste of new music.

Right away, the teaser feels unsettling. A little boy stands in front of a house while a storm forms above him. The boy eventually makes his way into the house. Once inside, though, things don’t get any less tense. The Weeknd’s presumed younger self can be seen walking through the house, which appears to be abandoned. Clothes are strewn about on the floor, and an ominous mood lingers, as though whoever lived there experienced something tragic. A surreal transition takes the boy to a church, where he looks into a mirror. A hooded woman who appeared earlier in the video cradles him, in a surprising instance of solace. All the while, an unreleased song by The Weeknd provides the soundtrack.

The Weeknd Will Conclude His After Hours Trilogy

The Weeknd posted the video on Instagram and Twitter with the caption: “unprepared certainty.” There’s definitely a dark connotation to the phrase, however it will apply to the album. The teaser makes it seem as though the singer is going to dig into his psyche more than ever, which tracks given the narrative role it’s supposed to play within his so-called trilogy. The upcoming album is said to be the third chapter in a trilogy that started with After Hours and continued with Dawn FM. Abel Tesfaye alluded to this structure way back in 2022. “I wonder,” he wrote on Twitter. “Did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?”

The Weeknd expanded on the concept of the trilogy during a 2023 interview with W Magazine. He not only said that he would be completing the story of his last three albums, but the “Weeknd” persona as fans know it. “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd,” he revealed. “This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.” We can only hope Tesfaye continues to make music under a different name. That said, we’re excited for the grand finale.

The Weeknd Is Definitely Up To Something, As He Shared More Cryptic Clues About An Apparent New Album

Last August, The Weeknd hinted to W Magazine that he would one day “close The Weeknd chapter.” That day is not today — or seemingly any day in the foreseeable future because he appears to be at the precipice of unfurling a lengthy era.

On Wednesday, July 24, The Weeknd posted a screenshot of his own X (formerly Twitter) post from the past, reading, “some chapters are smaller than others. not this next one though…” The global sensation born Abel Tesfaye reposted that to his Instagram Story, where he also posted a cryptic screenshot of the same animated character he’s been teasing — this one captioned, “Don’t stare too long.”

The broad (and probably correct) assumption is that The Weeknd is teasing the third album in the After Hours/Dawn FM trilogy. In January 2022, The Weeknd confirmed that he was in the midst of crafting a trilogy, and last week, he reposted a fan’s post saying this trilogy is “already better” than The Weeknd’s 2011 trilogy of House Of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes Of Silence.

The cryptic teasing technically began earlier this month when The Weeknd posted a close-up of a child’s eyes. But it became undeniable when he announced a one-off concert in São Paulo, Brazil on September 7 followed by a video showing After Hours Weeknd and Dawn FM Weeknd before we’re introduced to a new character: An upset young boy, presumably young Abel, crouched and surrounded by spooky characters. “There are three chapters to this tale,” the screen reads.

On Tuesday, July 23, The Weeknd posted another teaser video with our new protagonist, captioned, “When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you…”
