Mr. & Mrs. Smith

This is one of the new shows in 2024 that already has gone through some major changes. Viewers may remember the 2005 movie of the same name which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. This series was originally announced in 2021 and was helmed by Donald Glover, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Francesca Sloane. Glover and Waller-Bridge also starred in the title roles. At one point, however, Waller-Bridge left and Glover continued to work on the show with Sloane. Moreover, Maya Erskine replaced Waller-Bridge. The show centers on two spies who are ‌strangers that must portray a married couple The series is billed as a spy comedy and premieres on Amazon Prime Video with eight episodes on February 2, 2024.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Live Action)

This is another new show in 2024 that viewers have known about for quite a while. The original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. Viewers have held it in high regard since it ended with many of them still circulating clips and quotes from it on social media today. The characters originally appeared in a live-action movie in 2010 which was directed by M. Night Shyamalan. However, a large majority of viewers and critics did not enjoy that adaptation. Fortunately, they have expressed much more interest in this upcoming series based on the costumes, casting, and cinematography alone. The series stars Aang, a boy who must learn to master and “bend” the four elements to save the four nations from destruction. The show premieres with eight episodes on Netflix on February 22.

The Penguin

The title character of this series originally appeared in the 2022 film The Batman. He remains one of the most popular villains in the universe of Batman characters. Colin Firth plays this version of the character specifically, with many people praising the makeup team for making him unrecognizable. The series serves as a spinoff from the movie and starts a week after the events of its ending. While serving as a standalone series, executive producer and director Matt Reeves has stated it still will help connect the first and second movies, which he both directed. Moreover, the series follows Penguin’s rise to power in the criminal underworld of Gotham City. The show will begin streaming on Max in late 2024.

Griselda

This title of this new 2024 show may have caught the ears of fans of the Buffalo rap group but this is not a docuseries about them. However, it is a miniseries about the person their group is named after – Griselda Blanco. She was one of the most successful Columbian cocaine dealers in history and this series chronicles her life. Sofia Vergara stars as the title character and her long-time supporters are very eager to see her in a dramatic role like this. The show comes from the same team behind the Netflix series Narcos, which was about the life of Pablo Escobar and his cocaine empire. Griselda will premiere with six episodes on Netflix on January 25th.

Shōgun

Shōgun is a new show in 2024 that has some history behind it in more ways than one. It’s a remake of a 1980s mini-series, which itself was an adaptation of a 1975 novel of the same name. The original mini-series won several awards and the novel became a bestseller. Fans of both are looking forward to seeing this new series depicted on screen with modern technology of all kinds. The show follows an Englishman named John Blackthorne who ends up shipwrecked in feudal Japan in the 17th century and must navigate their culture. All the characters on the show are based on real figures in history, making the show a historical drama. Considering samurai are involved, the action sequences may pull in some viewers while the political depictions will pull in others. The series premieres on Hulu with two episodes on February 27.

Echo

Echo is a new show in 2024 that continues to expand the ever-growing world of Marvel. However, this one looks to have a much darker tone than most of their recent work. Maya Lopez first appeared in the series Hawkeye. Alaqua Cox will reprise her role as the title character in this spin-off series. Echo is deaf and a Native American of the Choctaw Nation and her heritage will be prominent throughout the series. She is also being perused by Wilson Fisk, a character viewers know from the Daredevil series.

All five episodes of the show will be released on Disney+ and Hulu on January 9. This is a first for a Disney+ Marvel series, which originally released episodes weekly. A Choctaw language dub of the show will also be released at the same time.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries

This new 2024 show is a spinoff from the first MCU series, WandaVision. The character Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, turned out to be the true villain of the series the whole time. She even got a theme song within an episode where she boasted about it. Moments like this caused fans to want a show dedicated to the character and now they’ve gotten it. By the end of WandaVision, Agatha loses her magic abilities and the series follows her as she tries to get them back.

The title of the series was originally Agatha: House of Harkness then changed to Agatha: Coven Of Chaos before being changed to what it is now. Sources have claimed these changes were all a part of the fun for Disney since the title character can change things within WandaVision and this show. The series is billed as a dark comedy so viewers can expect Agatha and her allies to get into many creatively entertaining situations. Sources say the show will premiere on Disney+ in the fall.

Ice Spice And Nicki Minaj Question On “Jeopardy!” Has Contests Lost: Watch

Ice Spice and this singer whose fans are called Barbz are fittingly on the Barbie soundtrack with “Barbie World.” That was the question on Jeopardy! that had these contests searching for much of anything to say. According to XXL, this episode of the long-running television game show. This edition of the iconic program aired on November 17. They were in the midst of the Champions Wildcard series. The question was under the “Pop Music” category for $1000. Additionally, it was the last one of the bunch.

The correct answer of course was Nicki, but these geniuses appear to not be too keen on rap music. Tim was the first to guess with “Aqua.” While it was in the ballpark because of the pop duo’s smash hit “Barbie Girl,” it was narrowly off. At least he submitted an answer, though. Amy and Scott were speechless, but maybe it was to save the money they had.

What are your initial thoughts on these contestants not getting this question right about Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice? Is this song still in your rotation? 7 Hip Hop TV Theme Songs

Theme songs have historically set the tone for TV shows, whether it’s series like Curb Your Enthusiasm or Friends but rap music has undoubtedly dished out some equally iconic jingles. This is seen prominently in shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Boondocks. However, theme songs also intend to provide a synopsis of the shows they accompany, like Static Shock. We’ve gathered seven shows that have rap songs for their intros in this list and the nostalgic factor is strong with all of them.

The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air

We’d be remiss if we left this rap TV theme song off our list. The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air aired from 1990 to 1996 and starred Will Smith as the title character. Coming off of the success of DJ Jazzy & The Fresh Prince, it only made sense that the two cooked up the show’s opening theme. The lyrics of the song provide the backstory of Will’s Philly beginnings and how he landed in Bel-Air after getting into trouble.

The Boondocks

The Boondocks hold a special place in the hearts of hip-hop heads, and it’s not solely because of the adventures of Huey and Riley. The theme song captured the show’s essence, as well as the influence that rap had on the Aaron McGruder-created TV show. Maryland-based rapper Asheru performed the iconic theme song, titled “Judo Flip,” although many previously believed that it was Black Thought who penned the theme.

Kenan & Kel

Kenan & Kel was one of their most successful sitcoms on Nickelodeon. Starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, the show served as a spin-off of All That and proved to be a success on its own. While the misadventures of Keenan & Kel provided endless amounts of entertainment, there’s no denying the impact of the theme song. The late Coolio, who previously appeared on All That, helped craft the song, titled, “Aw Here It Goes.” “That hook, the song still holds up today,” Kel Mitchell told Entertainment Weekly in 2016. “When I do [comedy] shows, I’ll play the Kenan & Kel theme song and come out to the stage to that or I’ve even been in the club and they play it.”

Static Shock

The rap-influenced theme song for Static Shock is undoubtedly nostalgic for those who recall waking up early on the weekends for Saturday morning cartoons. The show aired on Kids WB, a Saturday morning cartoon block, from 2000 to 2004. Static Shock’s theme changed over the years with the hip-hop aspect coming in seasons three and four. The first two seasons, which still incorporated elements of hip hop like record scratching, had more of a cinematic score feeling to them. In seasons three and four, the production is far more hip-hop-centric. Lil Romeo performed the theme song for Static Shock‘s third and fourth seasons three while his father, Master P, produced the song.

The Wayans Bros.

This show is one of the more unique ones on our list. It had multiple rap TV theme songs during the years it aired. The Wayans Bros. changed its theme songs throughout the years it aired yet it remained heavily influenced by hip-hop. For the first two seasons, The Wayans Bros. used an instrumental version of “Electric Relaxation” by A Tribe Called Quest. Season three used an original hip-hop beat. It changed again for the fourth and fifth seasons. The Wayans Brothers themselves, along with Omar Epps, produced the beat used for these final two seasons.

Samurai Champloo

An anime having a rap TV theme song is not surprising considering how these two artistic mediums have influenced each other. Samurai Champloo incorporates multiple elements of hip-hop into the show, from record scratching to the characters’ comedic raps and even the lead character Mugen’s fighting style, which seems to derive from b-boying. Japanese artist Shing02 performs the show’s theme, titled “Battlecry,” rapping Nujabes “Other Side of Phase.” In fact, Nujabes also did other music for the show.

In Living Color

In Living Color was a critical platform for many Black comedians and a focal point of 90s Black culture. The show opened with their signature Fly Girls dancing to the show’s them and regularly ended with a live performance from a hip-hop act. Heavy D & The Boyz handled the show’s theme throughout its five seasons. The original theme song appeared in the first two seasons and later, remixed for the fifth. They changed the theme song in season three with new production and lyrics.

Remembering Bob Barker: “The Price Is Right” Icon

The Price is Right icon Bob Barker was iconic in the entertainment industry, particularly in television and radio. Sadly, the revered figure passed away on August 26 at 99. From 1972 to 2007, Barker blessed the living rooms of hundreds of millions of The Price is Right viewers, but his career stretched far beyond the legendary show.

Barker also hosted Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975 and the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants for several years. Further, his cameos and appearances on other sitcoms and films continued to etch his name into Hollywood history. However, his true imprint was his ongoing advocacy for animal rights—something he even incorporated into his The Price is Right hosting gig. Those who loved him will miss his presence. Here, we remember the life and career of the late star.

Before The Fame

Runners-up (from left, following Miss Wells) are: Miss Israel (Ilana Goren); Miss Brazil (Rejane Viera Costa); Miss Venezuela (Maria Campoli) and Miss England (Jenny McAdam).

Bob Barker’s origins may be surprising to some people. He spent most of his childhood on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Mission, South Dakota. His father was one-quarter Sioux, and his mother was not Indigenous. This made Barker one-eighth Sioux, which he took much pride in. Barker went to grade school on the Reservation, and his mother was a teacher at the same school.

Later, during World War II, he went to Drury University on a basketball scholarship but had to pause his studies to enlist in the United States Navy Reserve in 1943. He trained as a fighter pilot there. While on leave, he married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Jo Gideon. Once the war ended, he returned to Drury and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Bob Barker married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Jo Gideon in 1945. They had been dating since Barker was 15, after meeting at an Ella Fitzgerald concert. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1981 after being married for 36 years. The two never had any children. Barker shared that this was because they didn’t want any and didn’t feel like their busy schedules would allow time for them.

Barker never remarried but had a close friendship with Nancy Burnet, whom he met in 1983. Coincidentally, they met at an animal rights event and naturally continued their fight for animal rights together. Despite the public’s opinion or word choices, Burnet referred to Barker as her “great friend” in her statement regarding his passing.

Bob Barker Worked His Way To The Top

Meanwhile, Barker’s media career began in college, where he worked at KTTS-FM radio. After graduation, he and his wife moved to Lake Worth Beach, Florida, and Barker started working at WWPG 1340 AM, where he was a news editor and announcer. Next, Barker moved to California in 1950 and reached an entirely new level. With his experience in radio, he was given his own show, appropriately titled The Bob Barker Show. This show lasted six years.

His success here led to his jump from radio to television. In 1956, producer Ralph Edwards sought a new host for the game show Truth or Consequences. He selected Barker specifically because he liked his voice. Barker auditioned, got the job, and hosted the show from 1956 to 1975. Interestingly enough, he was actually hired to host The Price is Right while still hosting this show.

The Legacy Of The Price Is Right

It didn’t take long for Barker to become the face of The Price is Right. However, the show did not start with him as the host. The show’s original version ran from 1956 to 1966 and aired on NBC and ABC. Mark Goodson and Bill Todman were the producers of the original version and the revived version. The CBS network was only interested in being the home of the show’s revival in 1972 if Bob Barker hosted it. So, he began hosting on September 4, 1972—over 6,000 episodes. It contributed to the show being the longest-running game show in the United States. Barker maintained professionalism, no matter how excited or ill-skilled the contestant was while playing the game. However, he also had his share of clever comments during certain moments.

Barker & Animal Rights

Further, Barker ended every episode of The Price is Right by suggesting the audience have their pets spayed or neutered to help control the pet population. In fact, he used $25 million to start the DJ & T Foundation, an organization that helps fund clinics that offer spaying and neutering for pets. His other practices concerning the protection of animals reverberated throughout his career.

He stopped dying his hair in 1987 because the hair products were being tested on animals. He also became a vegetarian and stopped hosting the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants because of the fur coats that were given to the winners. Barker donated $5 million to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and $2.5 million to PETA. Both organizations named something after him as a tribute.

Health Issues

Barker had his fair share of health challenges, but he pursued through them all. The Price is Right is a weekday show, and Barker rarely missed an episode. He suffered a blocked artery and a stroke but had successful surgeries after both. He also had several minor run-ins with skin cancer due to his tanning. However, he consulted with a dermatologist the entire time and encouraged others to do the same. More recently, in 2015 and 2017, he had two falls, but they only resulted in minor physical injuries, which he recovered from with stitches. It is unknown if he was suffering from any health challenges before his passing, as sources have said his death was of natural causes.

Bob Barker’s Legacy

Bob Barker leaves a legacy in the television world that will last forever. Over his career, he won 19 Emmy Awards and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1976. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2004. Many game show hosts have admired his work and considered him the standard they hope to reach someday.

Drew Carey, who has been hosting The Price is Right since Barker retired, feels the most responsibility in continuing his legacy. As soon as he began hosting, he carried on Barker’s trademark closing by saying, “Get your pets spayed or neutered,” and used the same type of microphone Barker had. Bob Barker’s presence will be missed by those who knew him, whether in person or through their TV screens. His legacy in American television will continue to live on and be immortalized forever.

Wendy Williams’s Son Says He Fears For Her Life

Wendy Williams’s son Kevin Hunter Jr says that her mental and physical health is declining while she’s under guardianship. In an interview with The Sun, Hunter told his side of the story and shed some light on the events of recent months. He accuses various members of her inner circle of taking advantage of her wealth while she battles addiction. Since Williams was put under guardianship last year numerous reports have come out about her declining health.

Among his complaints is a major lack of communication with what’s going on in Wendy Williams’ life. The last time Hunter heard from his mother’s manager was when she was hospitalized last month. Since then, he says he hasn’t been updated on news of her mother’s release at all. He also wasn’t updated when Williams’ was reportedly moved out of New York. Later on in the interview Hunter even goes as far as to say that he fears for her life.

When the subject of his mother’s alcoholism came up, Hunter expressed further concerns. “I know the rate that she uses alcohol isn’t like a normal person- and we’ve spoken about it — and it’s gotten to a point where yes, it could have that effect that it might be fatal because it affects her way worse than a normal person since it stays in her system,” he says. He goes on to clarify that “it could have that effect that it might be fatal.”

Wendy Williams has reportedly been trying to progress her career in recent months. Back in April, she was seen filming at her childhood home for a forthcoming reality show. Just a few weeks ago it came to light that Williams tried to join the cast of The Real Housewives Of New York. Kevin says that his mother should “take a break from trying to progress her career and just be proud of what she’s accomplished.” The situation has already drawn comparisons to the conservatorship of Britney Spears that inspired the #FreeBritney movement. Let us know what you think about Wendy Williams’s situation in the comment section below.

Rick Ross & Killer Mike Get Some Laughs On “Dave”

Dave Burd, a.k.a. Lil Dicky, crafted one of the most successful hip-hop-adjacent shows of the moment with his series “Dave.” Now on tour with rapper GaTa, the show’s latest episode involves some hilarious cameos from Rick Ross and Killer Mike that have people quite impressed with their comedy skills. Moreover, the plot revolves around Dave and GaTa trying to get Rozay’s stolen chair back and handle potential Twitter beef with one half of Run The Jewels. Not only that, but Usher and Lil Gotit also make comical appearances throughout the episode. All in all, fans seem to agree that the comedic timing and chemistry in this episode was more than entertaining.

Of course, someone of Rick Ross’ charisma and personality makes for a glove-like fit on a show like “Dave.” One of his more recent and strange antics involved his buffalo that escaped from his ranch in Fayetteville, Georgia. While many expressed concern and even criticism, the Miami rapper dispelled all that with a series of funny, thankful, and reassuring clips. When you live that large, you’ve got to learn to not take yourself as seriously, and it’s clear that he has a lot of fun with it.

“Dave” Includes Hilarious Cameos In Atlanta Episode

Furthermore, Killer Mike is one of the faces of Atlanta, whether in music or larger society and politics. As such, it’s only fitting that a figure of his caliber appears in an episode centered around the city. What’s more is that Mike will make a return to music quite soon, although it was nice to see him expand his resumé on “Dave.” Fans are particularly excited because he teased features from Dave Chappelle, Lil Wayne, and the one and only André 3000.

Despite his incredible TV success, Dave (or Lil Dicky, in this case) said that he wants to return to the mic soon. He elaborated that he feels misrepresented by his earlier work, with leaned towards comedy with less warm reception than his television outing. Regardless, considering his career trajectory and growth, it should make for quite the interesting return. For the latest news on Killer Mike, Rick Ross, and Dave (or Lil Dicky), stick around on HNHH. Also, check out some reactions to Rozay and Mike on “Dave” down below.

50 Cent Deletes Instagram Post About Exposing TV Industry

It’s always annoying when someone deletes a post that could be big news, but this time around, it’s a little bit fishy considering the content. On Sunday (March 26), 50 Cent reportedly posted on Instagram that he could expose the truth about the TV industry if given the chance. However, he apparently deleted the post since then, as the original HipHopDX report on it no longer features the Instagram revelation. “This lady from Fox 5 News called asking if i would speak to her about my experience in television production,” he allegedly captioned his post with a picture of FOX 5 correspondent and veteran journalist Lisa Evers. “I said like real behind the scenes, [eyes emoji] if she does this the Tv is going to go black [television emoji].” As a titan in that industry currently, such claims are quite hold quite the power.

Moreover, the G-Unit mogul recently celebrated his incredibly expansive network in the entertainment industry with another post, and this one’s still uploaded to his page. “I just realized there is not 1 african american person with green light Power in all of television,” he remarked. “WTF , I gotta turn it up now !” In said post, he showed just how many production companies and organizations he’s worked with so far, and hilariously X’d out Starz.

50 Cent Might Expose TV Industry

However, the “In Da Club” rapper also caught flack for insinuating he doesn’t know who Evers is. Still, that might be that he just miswrote, given their history together. “Whaaaat ???!!!” she reportedly commented under 50’s post. “This lady [crying laughing emojis] is @lisaevers #fox5ny – same one who did your very first TV interview in 2003 ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’ – same one who did a bunch of other interviews throughout your incredible career …. why you acting brand new? Lol Would love to tell this chapter of your story… meet me on Baisley Blvd South Jamaica …let’s talk.”

“MEMO TO: @50cent FROM: “this lady” Lol,” she wrote on Instagram, captioning a picture of the two of them, presumably after their conversation twenty years ago. “2003 – after your first TV interview for #fox5ny news about your debut album. You trusted a new TV reporter named Lisa Evers with your incredible story over national entertainment shows. Now trust me again to tell the story of how you became a media mogul & mega-successful entrepreneur. The streets need this inspiration now. Let’s work!” Furthermore, it seems like after 50’s deleted post and his incredible career, the two would have a lot to go over. Still, maybe that results in some industry secrets coming to light, or maybe that’s too conspiratorial to entertain. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest on this story and more on 50 Cent.

Grammys Ratings Experience Significant Increase

The 65th annual Grammy Awards telecast brought in 12.4 million in total viewers on Sunday night. Per Nielsen’s time zone-adjusted national ratings, the show’s viewership spiked approximately 30% from last year’s Grammy awards ceremony. The 2022 Grammys had 9.6 million in total viewers after Live+Same Day tallies came in later that week. The impressive ratings made it the most viewed show of the ceremony’s evening across television networks. 12.4 million is also the largest audience for the Grammy awards since 2020.

Online and on social media, the broadcast hit 66 billion potential impressions. Thus, it is “the #1 social entertainment event of 2023,” according to CBS. By Monday morning, the world had consumed 53 million video clips of Grammy awards ceremony content across CBS and Paramount’s social media platforms. The CBS broadcast took place at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and streamed on Paramount Plus. The live-streaming ratings were also up 33% from last year. The show broke its own record for the largest live-streaming audience in history across CBS and Paramount Plus platforms.

Trevor Noah hosted the Grammy awards ceremony for the third year in a row. The star-studded performance list included Quavo, Lizzo, Harry Styles, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, Bad Bunny, and more. Beyoncé made history as the most grammy-awarded artist in the history of the program. Lizzo also made history as the first black woman to win Record of the Year since Whitney Houston in 1994. Kim Petras made history as well, becoming the first openly transgender woman to win the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Award for “Unholy” with Sam Smith. Additionally, Styles took home the Grammy for Album of the Year for “Harry’s House.” The Recording Academy also gathered artists to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop.

In comparison to other award shows of the year, the 2023 Golden Globes had 1.1 rating with 6.3 million viewers. NBC broadcasted the show and streamed it on Peacock. However, these ratings show a 26% and 9% drop, respectively, from last year’s Golden Globes in 2022. On social media, Golden Globes content ranked in almost 11 million digital page and video views across E! News and NBC, according to NBC. The difference in ratings between the Golden Globes and the Grammys was drastic.
