Digga D’s Fourth Album “Back To Square One” Is Here

UK rising rap phenom Digga D returns with another new project for the fans who have been riding with him. Back To Square One is a 15-song 39-minute-long offering that provides plenty of solid tracks throughout. The genres dabbled in here include UK drill, British hip-hop, and elements of trap. Only two features appear on Digga D’s latest effort with Potter Payper rapping on Facade. Then, M Huncho is a feature on song eight called “Baby Mums Crib.”

The opening title “Fighting For My Soul” is one of the best moments here, setting up the album for the rest of the way. One of the best sequences of bars comes from the first verse where Digga D raps, “So, I’m mindful when I talk, ’cause if not, they’ll cancel me to be spiteful, it’s all a cycle / My head’s chipped, so I smoke my weed -ital / Need a break from prison like Michael / It’s all about survival, ask my rival / Shoot on arrival, make his destination final.” There is other quality here such as the most popular track “Energy” with over 26 million streams.

Digga D Explains The Meaning Behind The Project

Besides providing heat on Back To Square One, Digga delves into the inspiration behind it. In a sit down with Apple Music he says, “Before drill, there was rap, and I’m taking it back there for this project.” He continues, “But there’s a double meaning, too. I’m also going back home to Powis [Square] in West London, where I’m from. A lot has changed for me as I’ve grown up and learned different things, and I have more faith now. Not that I never had any before, but I feel like I’m more in tune with myself now, and you can hear it.” Digga certainly sounds like he has a new mindset here and its prevalent from the start.

Travis Scott’s “UTOPIA” Now Has Over 1 Billion Streams On Spotify Alone

Is anyone really surprised that Travis Scott’s long-awaited UTOPIA is among the most successful albums of the year so far? The project keeps amassing a lot of commercial milestones, the most recent one being that it surpassed a billion streams on Spotify alone. Moreover, this isn’t taking into account the avalanche of other platforms’ streams, physical sales, and bundles that propelled it into platinum-eligible status. Even vinyl sales records for hip-hop albums shattered with the Houston MC’s latest full-length. As such, it’s poised to be not just one of the most money-making moments of the year, but one of the most culturally impactful, in the sense that its hype and conversation has been incessant.

If you’re curious, the most streamed song from UTOPIA on Spotify (excluding the single “K-POP,” which has 123 million as of writing this article) is a no-brainer. Travis Scott and Drake’s reunion on “MELTDOWN” has over 101 million streams, and next up is the Playboi Carti collab “FE!N.” Other often-streamed tracks off it are “I KNOW ?,” “TELEKINESIS,” and “MY EYES.” The least streamed is, unsurprisingly, the interlude-like “PARASAIL” with 24 million streams, followed by the Westside Gunn and James Blake-assisted “LOST FOREVER” with 28 million (which is absolutely criminal).

Travis Scott Keeps Amassing Wild Numbers For UTOPIA

With these numbers in mind, it’s no surprise that UTOPIA will likely go number one on the Billboard charts for a fourth consecutive week. However, there are still some standards to live up to when it comes to Travis Scott’s commercial success. For example, each of his past three studio albums amassed over 2 billion streams on the platform. It probably won’t be long until this new project reaches that mark as well, but only time will tell how the album continues to age.

As much money as it’s netting La Flame, UTOPIA has undoubtedly been his most divisive release so far. Amid fans’ own criticisms of the project, there’s his Astroworld controversy to account for, which many fans thought he didn’t do a compelling job of taking responsibility for on the album. The second Baby Gravy 3 tape is here and they continue to bring the wacky bars once again. The group consists of Yung Gravy and bbno$. Bbno$ stands for “baby no money” and the two have been making songs together since November 2019.

The first tape, which is ironically titled Baby Gravy 2 was their first collaborative album. It featured the popular song, “Welcome To Chilis” which was a Latin-American-inspired cut. Yung Gravy and bbno$ continue to provide their hysterical bars. On the song “No Way Jose” the two rap in unison on the first verse. One bar reads, “Shawty broke my d***, playing Whac-A-Mole / I’ma gladiate the c****ie, like I’m Russel Crowe.” Lines like that are peppered all throughout the album, which makes for an unpredictable but laughable experience. The tracklist also has the single “C’est La Vie” with Rich Brian which has around 59.7 million plays.

City Morgue, also known as ZillaKami and SosMula, are back with more music together. The duo officially started around 2018 and have been adamant about getting consistent new material out. That is the case once again with their new effort called “HAHA WACO.” If you have not heard of these two before, get ready for a wild ride.

“HAHA WACO” has a haunting production with trunk-knocking bass. There are also elements of horrorcore with the sharp and high-pitched noises at the beginning of the track. They sound as if they were plucked right from the scene from the movie Psycho. Overall, it is in-your-face action from the start and the energy does not stop until the song does.

Who Are City Morgue?

So, who is City Morgue exactly? One part of the group is ZillaKami. He has nabbed some high-end features such as Denzel Curry. He appeared on Curry’s extremely successful 2018 record TA13OO. Kami announced his loud and boisterous presence on the track “VENGEANCE | VENGEANCE which featured JPEGMAFIA as well. It was a wild song on the album that spoke to Kami’s style. SosMula has also worked alongside Denzel on the song “DRAINO” which was on CITY MORGUE VOL 2: AS GOOD AS DEAD. He was born in New York in 1994 and is looking to propel this duo to new heights.

Michigan rapper BONES is ready for anyone to come for him on this track called “Ratatat.” It might just be another typical track for most people who do not know of BONES. But, he is a secretive innovator behind some of the biggest subgenres in rap. He now resides in California and is also the leader of the music collective TeamSESH. It is a home for a lot of underground artists who fall under the same umbrella as BONES does.

Which niches in the rap world do those include? Well, some of those include metal rap, emo rap, cloud rap, and trap rap. BONES has been making music since the early 2010s. That is before artists like XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD, Lil Peep, and others. Unfortunately, BONES never reached star status as they did. However, he should be considered a founding father of these areas in hip-hop. After all, he appeared on A$AP Rocky’s “Canal St.” for the sample that was used on it.

BONES Is Ruthless

Many of BONES’ songs are about murderous levels of violence and being a lone wolf. BONES Releases Dark Track “Peroxide”

Prolific rapper BONES is back with his trademark sound on a new cut called “Peroxide.” Not much is known about him since he generally keeps a low profile, but there is some information about the Howell, Michigan native. The now 29-year-old rapper was born on January 11, 1994, and now resides in California. As stated earlier, BONES pumps out tons of new material. He was just a 16-years- his first mixtape in all the way back in 2010. That was enough to convince himself to drop out of school and pack his bags to Los Angeles. From there his career took off and he has not looked back.

Since then, BONES has put out over 70 albums and projects, including hundreds of music videos, while also wrapping up four national tours in 13 years. It is certainly an impressive feat but it does not stop there. On A$AP Rocky’s 2015 album AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP, he landed a massive feature credit on the fantastic cut, “Canal St.” Rocky sampled the beat from “Dirt,” a big song from BONES’ 2013 mixtape Scumbag, earning more attention. Now, he is back with more material with “Peroxide.”

BONES Rides The Beat Effortlessly

BONES bodies this dark and cavernous production. With the flows on point with a sometimes whispery effect, it adds to the atmosphere. It is a short song, running just under two minutes. Unfortunately, it leaves the ears hanging because it felt like there could have been another verse but it should satisfy his fans.

Coi Leray fired back at her haters on Twitter, Wednesday, sharing a list of the top-streaming albums of 2023 so far on Spotify. Her latest project, COI, ranked eighth on the list, despite trolls making fun of its reported low sales figures.

“This why idgaf wat nun of y’all haten ass weirdos have to say about me,” she wrote. “Fuck a validation! I ain’t NEVER gonna stop having fun with this shit. Ever. Thanks to all my supporters. Amazing albums.” Despite the streams, fans still trolled Leray in response. One wrote: “Girl it has those streams because of david guetta and that tiktok hit.” “Ice spice outsold… and it’s an EP,” another replied.

When COI initially dropped, early reports suggested it only managed to earn 10,000 in album sales for its first week. Despite the rough figure, Leray remained positive on social media. “Grateful to have an album on the Top 200 for [the] first week of my album release, again,” she wrote on Twitter at the time. “This time with three hits on the Hot 100… Woah. I’m super proud of myself. Bigger and better year every time. Keep streaming #COI. It’s an AMAZING project.”

As for new music from the rapper, Leray confirmed that she’s working on a new EP on Instagram, Tuesday. “Blue Moon EP loading 6 songs,” she captioned the post while adding several emojis.
