Logan Paul Gets Dragged For Claiming He’d “Kill” Mike Tyson In A Fight

Last night, Jake Paul came out victorious in his highly anticipated boxing match against Mike Tyson. Of course, this has earned big reactions across social media, which are mixed. While some aren’t surprised that the social media personality got the best of the legendary 58-year-old athlete, others can’t believe it. Many are even hard at work spreading theories that the fight was rigged.

The fight itself isn’t the only thing that has social media users in shambles, however. In a post-match interview, Tyson joked that he might go head-to-head with Paul’s brother Logan next. “What? I’d kill you Mike,” he responded. Clips of the moment quickly began to circulate on X, with countless users slamming Logan for what they saw as blatant disrespect.

“Logan Paul is such an a**hole for this,” one user writes in response to the clip. “Logan Paul gets one opportunity and says the weirdest sh*t u can think of on the mic,” another says. As for how Logan feels about the fight overall, he told Betr that while he’s happy with the result, he expected his brother to do more damage.

“I wish he [Paul] would have knocked him out for slapping him, but the event is f*cking historical,” he explained. “I’m happy Jake won. I actually think him not obliterating Mike, we got to see the nobility of him still stepping in the ring and Jake got to fight a f*cking legend…I was a little personally offended that he hit Jake and I thought Jake was going to do more than he did.”

Social Media Reacts To Logan Paul Disrespecting Mike Tyson

He’s far from the only one feeling disappointed with the outcome of the fight, but still, many are praising Tyson for his performance. The Game, for example, recently took to X to come to the icon’s defense. “I see all these weird celebrities n!%%as saying Mike looked bad, this was sad & disgusting etc… yall goofy. I saw a 58 year old legend go 8 rounds with a 27 year old in front of the world in a sold out football stadium n walk away with 20 million dollars, his dignity & yet another achievement he said was only for HIM. I’m proud of you champ !!!!,” he wrote on X. Check out some reactions to Logan Paul’s remarks down below.

Drake Loses $355K After Betting On Mike Tyson To Beat Jake Paul

Drake has taken lots of bumps and bruises in 2024. The rapper lost the biggest hip hop battle of the 21st century, despite turning in a strong effort. He lost $300K betting on Canada in the Copa America game, then $500K betting on the winner of the Stanley Cup. Well, the 6 God took another L on Friday, as Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson in a boxing match. Drake put $355K down on Iron Mike to secure the victory, but it wasn’t even close. Seriously. Paul won the match by unanimous decision.

Drake posted his betting stub in the hours leading up to the Paul vs. Tyson fight. “I’m late but I’m here money on the liiiiiiiiine for today,” he wrote on Instagram. “And tmrw @stake I need some dubs.” Well, he did not secure those dubs. Drake and fellow Young Money alumni Tyga bet big on Mike Tyson to pull an upset, and he did anything but. Fans in the crowd actually started booing during the later rounds, and it was widely inferred by many that Paul was taking it easy on Tyson out of respect. DJ Akademiks posited this on Twitter. He also decided to poke fun at Drake for losing yet another huge sports bet.

Drake Continues His Streak Of Losing Sports Bets

“Drake my mans,” Ak tweeted. “But once I seen him bet on Tyson I knew he lost.” This sentiment was echoed throughout the Twittersphere, actually. Lots of people were betting on Mike Tyson to win, and were horrified to see that the 6 God put money down on their side. The memes were plentiful, and even professional accounts like ESPN Bets got in on the fun. They posted a gif of a panicked Jon Bernthal in The Punisher under the text: “Mike Tyson bettors after seeing Drake bet on him to win.”

Other fans were more bitter in their responses. “Mike Tyson might not have won but at least Drake lost,” one of them tweeted out. Then there was a user who noted, as we did at the top, that Drizzy has really had a brutal calendar year. “Dude can’t catch a break this year,” they pointed out. We could list out the other captions that fans provided, but we think a roundup of the funniest and most notable reactions to the Drake curse would be more effective. Check out our top picks below.

24 Hip-Hop Lyrics That Reference Kobe Bryant

Of the last 25 years, there are few figures in the world of sports that had a larger impact on their sport and pop culture than Kobe Bryant. As a five-time champion and 2008 MVP with the Lakers, Bryant was, along with Shaq and Allen Iverson early and LeBron James later in his career, the face of the NBA. Being on the Lakers certainly didn’t hurt his cultural impact, as he is an L.A. icon, but his reach goes far beyond Los Angeles.

In the world of hip-hop, Bryant has been heavily referenced in song lyrics for the last two decades plus, eventually becoming the avatar for competing and championships. Here we are looking at 24 (plus a couple bonus tracks) times Bryant’s name came up in rap songs, as his legendary status is cemented by his impact not just on basketball but the culture as a whole. Even after his tragic death in 2020, Bryant’s legacy is still felt and artists continue to point to the Lakers great as one of the great examples of a winner and hooper.

“Overnight Celebrity” — Twista ft. Kanye West (2004)

Kanye: Give you ice like Kobe wife/We sorta like Goldie, right?/The way we mold ’em right
Twista: I could make you a celebrity overnight

The hook to Twista’s smash hit with Kanye features West referencing the massive diamond ring worn by Vanessa Bryant at a press conference after Kobe was charged with sexual assault in Colorado in 2003.

“Swagga Like Us” — T.I. ft. Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and M.I.A (2008)

Tryna get that Kobe number, one over Jordan

This is another Kobe reference from Kanye, this time using Kobe as a stand-in for 24 (and Jordan for 23), which happens frequently, as Bryant became the most iconic No. 24 in sports.

“I Wanna Rock” — Snoop Dogg (2009)

Smokin’ on that Kobe, f**kin’ wit’ that purp

Unsurprisingly, Kobe is frequently referenced in L.A. rap. Here one of Los Angeles’ finest, Snoop Dogg, drops a Kobe reference in this 2009 track, which is far from the last time someone used Kobe and the Lakers as a metaphor for purple (and gold) strands in their weed.

Kobe Bryant” — Lil Wayne (2009)

Lil Wayne took the Kobe love to a whole new level in 2009 when he released a track titled and entirely about the Lakers star, so there’s not one bar to highlight here, but just the entire song.

“Beamer Benz or Bentley” — Lloyd Banks ft. Juelz Santana (2010)

Where my ring and my confetti? I’m Kobe Bryant-ready

By 2010, after winning his fifth title with the Lakers, there was no one more synonymous with winning than Bryant, with Lloyd Banks making that evident from his hit single from that year.

“See Me Now” — Kanye West ft. Beyonce, Big Sean, and Charlie Wilson (2010)

They say G.O.O.D. Music like the new Miami Heat, s**t/Comparin’ them to us, man they gotta add Kobe

After Bryant’s 2010 championship, LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade to create the Big 3 in Miami. However, as Big Sean boasted on “See Me Now,” comparisons to Kanye’s budding G.O.O.D. Music label and the Heat wasn’t good enough, as they’d need another legend in Bryant to be on their level.

“The City” — The Game ft. Kendrick Lamar (2011)

I’m Kobe on the Lakers floor, except I give you eighty-four

Bryant’s greatest individual performance was scoring 81 points against the Raptors in 2006, and that night gets pretty regularly referenced in hip-hop, with L.A.’s The Game providing one of the more notable ones on “The City.”

“Stay Schemin’” — Rick Ross ft. Drake and French Montana (2012)

Kobe ’bout to lose a hundred fifty Ms/Kobe my n****, I hate it had to be him

Rick Ross has a number of Kobe mentions in his songs (and, really, any NBA star); on 2012’s “Stay Schemin’” guest rapper Drake makes a reference to Bryant’s on-going divorce at the time — which Kobe and Vanessa eventually resolved and stayed together.

“Believe It” — Meek Mill ft. Rick Ross (2012)

Spend Iguodala on my Rolly/Young n**** ball like Kobe

Meek Mill gives us a double NBA reference here, with the Philly native shouting out then-Sixer Andre Iguodala and his 6-year, $80 million deal before noting he’s balling like Kobe.

“Kobe” — Chief Keef (2012)

While Lil Wayne’s 2009 track was very literally about Kobe Bryant, Chief Keef’s “Kobe” is more about the mindset of thinking he’s Kobe in various ways. But, like Wayne’s track, there are too many Kobe lines in it to just pull one out.

“Bugatti” — Ace Hood ft. Rick Ross and Future (2013)

Ballin’ on n***** like Kobe/F**k all you haters, you bore me

Ace Hood’s boastful hit from 2013 wouldn’t be complete without a reference to ballin’ like Kobe.

“Juice” — Chance the Rapper (2013)

I just faced a Veg-er/And you love being Kobe when you make the lay-er/Til you realize everybody in the world f**kin’ hates the Lakers

However, there was certainly some Lakers fatigue felt by fans outside of L.A., which Chance the Rapper makes mention of in this line from 2013’s “Juice”.

“untitled 02 | 06.23.2014.” — Kendrick Lamar (2014)

This the first time I confess/Me and Top is like a Kobe and Phil/A father figure f**k with him, you get killed/F**k with me and he will kill you himself

Another L.A. connection here, as Kendrick Lamar compares himself and Top Dawg ENT founder Anthony Tiffith to Kobe and Phil.

“Still Think About You” — A Boogie wit da Hoodie (2016)

I shoot up and lean back on some Kobe s**t/They don’t know how to pass on some Kobe s**t

One of the funniest Kobe lyrics comes from A Boogie wit da Hoodie on his 2016 track where he highlights Bryant’s reputation as a premier bucket-getter and not a facilitator.

“Views” — Drake (2016)

Me and Niko used to plot on how to make a change/Now me and Kobe doin’ shots the night before the game

Sometimes a reference is just a status check, as is the case here with Drake boasting about hanging out with Kobe.

“Shake It Fast” — Rae Sremmurd ft. Juicy J (2016)

I get to ballin’ like Kobe in the fourth quarter/So much money on me I can’t even get it sorted

Kobe has long been the go-to for references to being clutch, as is the case here on Swae Lee’s verse from Rae Sremmurd’s 2016 hit.

“THat Part” — ScHoolboy Q ft. Kanye West (2016)

Walkin’, livin’ legend, man, I feel like Kobe/I just dropped sixty, man, I feel like Kobe/Lamar was with me, man, I feel like Kobe

More than a decade from his “Overnight Celebrity” chorus, Kanye West was back at it with the Kobe references, this time shouting out Kobe as a living legend as well as his iconic final game performance when he scored 60 against the Jazz.

“Stargazing” — Travis Scott (2018)

I’m way too gold for this beef, feel like I’m Kobe, yeah

Surprisingly one of the few references we could find that played off Kobe Bryant and Kobe beef, but Travis Scott made it happen in his 2018 track.

“Shotta FLow” — NLE Choppa (2019)

Feelin’ like I’m Kobe, can’t nan’ n**** hold me/If he wanna run up on me, shoot him like Ginobili

Another double NBA reference, this time from NLE Choppa, who is not the only one to pair Kobe and Ginobili — a match made in rap lyric heaven for the ability to rhyme together.

“Commercial” — Lil Baby ft. Lil Uzi Vert

I turned eight million right until I’m a quarterback/Spent a million like I’m tryna bring Kobe back

“Commercial” came out just a few weeks after Kobe’s death, and clearly Lil Uzi Vert’s verse was recorded at some point in that window as he became one of the first in hip-hop to mourn the loss of the legend on a track.

“Bean (Kobe)” — Lil Uzi Vert ft. Chief Keef (2020)

You know I’m ballin’, usual like Kobe

Not long after his verse on “Commercial”, Lil Uzi Vert again referenced Kobe, this time on a track with his name in the title. However, unlike Lil Wayne or Chief Keef’s songs, this one does not feature constant references to the Lakers legend, just at the start of the opening verse.

“Woodlawn” — Aminé (2020)

Look, RIP Kobe/N****, RIP Kobe/You was like a dad to a n****, so I’m sad, my n****/Had to get you tatted on me

After his death, there were tons of tributes to Bryant from all over the basketball, music, and entertainment worlds, showing how far-reaching his impact was, and on his 2020 song “Woodlawn”, Aminé pays heartfelt homage to his idol.

“Rich Flex” — Drake and 21 Savage (2022)

Ayy, I’m livin’ every twenty-four like Kobe did/Shoutout to the 6, R.I.P. to 8

Drake often plays with numbers in his lyrics, and here he pays tribute to Bryant with both his numbers, 24 and 8.

“2024” — Playboi Carti (2023)

Ooh, two fours in the Sprite, got me feelin’ like Kobe, R.I.P., uh

One of the most recent Kobe references, Playboi Carti showed once again how Bryant remains synonymous with the number 24.

BONUS TRACKS

“K.O.B.E.” — Kobe Bryant ft. Tyra Banks (2000)

This has all-but been scrubbed from the internet, but back in 2000 Kobe Bryant made a brief foray into the rap game with a debut single alongside Tyra Banks (???). It did not go over particularly well and Bryant made the wise choice to focus his efforts on the court — but he was better on the mic than he gets credit for.

“Freestyle” — Shaq (2008)

The most legendary NBA beef of the 2000s was that of Shaq and Kobe, with the peak coming when Shaq hopped on the mic for a freestyle at a club and infamously asked Kobe “tell me how my ass tastes.”

50 Cent Is Stunned (And A Little Concerned) By Mike Tyson’s Dark Answer To A Teen’s Question About Legacy

Tonight, November 15, is the much-publicized boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Ahead of the fight, which will stream on Netflix, Iron Mike was asked by internet-famous teen reporter Jazlyn Guerra, a.k.a. Jazzy’s World TV, for his thoughts on legacy. He took it very seriously.

“Well, I don’t know. I don’t believe in the word ‘legacy,’” Tyson replied. “I just think that’s another word for ego. Legacy doesn’t mean nothing. That’s just some word everybody grabbed onto. Someone said that word, and everyone grabbed on the words, and now it’s used every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me. I’m just passing through. I’mma die, and it’s gonna be over. Who cares about legacy after that?”

Tyson somehow wasn’t done. “What a big ego,” he continued. “So I’mma die. I want people to think that I’m this, I’m great. I’m, no. We’re nothing. We’re just dead. We’re dust. We’re absolutely nothing. Our legacy is nothing.”

Guerra responded to Tyson’s stream-of-consciousness existentialism with a polite “thank you so much for sharing that,” but 50 Cent had another takeaway. “G*ddam it! Mike ya scaring the kids, WTF chill,” the rapper wrote on X. “Note to self, keep the kids away from Mike.”

Mike Tyson Wallops Jake Paul During Weigh In For Boxing Match

Absolute chaos. That’s the phrase that comes to mind when describing the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match. These two celebrities could not be further apart in style and in approach, and yet, they are scheduled to get in the ring with each other on November 15. The evening before, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul did the customary weigh in. It all seemed like good fun until the former decided to start the fight a little early, and slap Paul in the face.

The actual weigh in went smoothly enough. Mike Tyson came in at 228.4 pounds, while Jake Paul came in at a slightly lighter 227.2 pounds. The two men then came off the scale and partook in a classic stare down. It’s a situation fans have seen Tyson in dozens of times before. Paul has even grown accustomed to these thanks to his recent career pivot towards boxing. What happened next, though, was anything but normal. Mike Tyson decided to haul off and slap Paul across the side of the head with his right arm. As was previously stated, chaos ensued. People rushed in to separate the two men, and all Tyson had to say was: “talk is over.”

Jake Paul didn’t miss a beat, to his credit. He answered right back with trash talk of his own. “I didn’t even feel it,” he barked back. “He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, that was a cute little slap. I’m f*cking him up. It’s personal now.” Say what you will about the antics of professional boxing, but Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are selling it. Chaos the night before the main event is a great way to remind fans to tune in. In case you needed evidence for this, Netflix clipped and posted the viral slap moment on social media within an hour of it taking place.

Jake Paul proceeded to milk the moment on social media. He hopped on Twitter and decided to take the angle of being starstruck by a fighter of Mike Tyson’s pedigree. “This a pinch me moment,” the Vlogger-turned-fighter wrote. “I got slapped by Mike Tyson.” The internet flooded Paul’s mentions, of course, and the photo of Tyson making contact with Paul’s head went viral in what felt like nanoseconds. These two know how to play the game, and fans will be tuned in to see the fight on Friday.

LeBron James & Netflix Hit With New Lawsuit For Alleged Script Stealing

A filmmaker recently hit LeBron James, his production company, and Netflix with a 25-page lawsuit. The filmmaker, Rob Grabow, accuses them of stealing one of his scripts for one of their new basketball films. According to TMZ, Grabow alleges that he wrote a script for a film called The Gift of the Game. Reportedly, it was about a Native American high school basketball player trying to carry his team to a state title.

Grabow describes it as “a powerful basketball film that deals with issues of community, race relations and poverty.” He also alleges that he shared it with people close to Netflix, James, and his production company. Eventually, Grabow alleges that they used his ideas for their own film Rez Ball, which was released in September of this year.

Grabow cites various alleged similarities between The Gift of the Game and Rez Ball. This includes the ending when the protagonist is fouled during the championship game. “There are numerous substantially and strikingly similar concrete and expressive elements in the two works’ plot, theme, dialogue, mood, setting, pace, characters and sequence of events,” the lawsuit alleges. Grabow also alleges that Rez Ball is more similar to his screenplay than it is to the book of the same name, which it was supposedly inspired by. He’s suing for alleged copyright infringement, breach of contract, and more and seeking unspecified damages.

This isn’t the first lawsuit LeBron James has been hit with in recent weeks, however. In October, the athlete and his son Bronny were sued over their alleged involvement in a 2022 car accident. Two ladies accuse the father-son duo of hitting their vehicle on the highway, allegedly causing them injuries and damaging their vehicle. They’re also seeking unspecified damages.

Carmelo Anthony Calls Out Drake For Feuding With DeMar DeRozan

Carmelo Anthony has called out Drake for his behavior during the Toronto Raptors game against the Sacramento Kings, during which he dissed DeMar DeRozan on the broadcast. “If you ever put up a DeRozan banner, I’ll go up there and take it down myself,” Drake said during the game. Anthony discussed the comments on the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn, alongside Rudy Gay.

“I think Drake was hurt a little bit because of the relationship he built with DeMar in Toronto,” Melo said, as caught by Billboard. “Representing the 6, Raptors — you know that was a lot of connection with those two. He’s a Raptor for life from a basketball standpoint. Yes, that jersey should be going up.” Gay then chimed in to label the move from Drake “wack.”

“Drake did a lot when he said I’ma go up there and take it down. That part is a lot,” Anthony continued, while also admitting that he understood why Drake was upset. “Those are shots. You my man, we in the crib, we hanging, we building the 6 up. From that standpoint, that would f–k me up too.” Melo and Gay both agreed that Drake and DeRozan should’ve handled the beef privately.

Carmelo Anthony & Rudy Gay Weigh In

Drake has been upset with DeRozan since the former Raptors star appeared at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out in Los Angeles, earlier this year. He also made a cameo in the music video for “Not Like Us,” on which Lamar dissed Drake amid their ongoing feud. At the Kings-Raptors game, Drake labeled DeRozan a “goof.” Check out Carmelo Anthony and Rudy Gay’s full discussion about Drake and DeMar DeRozan below.

Bronny James Won’t Travel For G League Games, Sparking Even More Nepotism Accusations

Bronny James is facing even more complaints about nepotism after ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that the son of NBA star LeBron James won’t be traveling with the Los Angeles Lakers’ South Bay G League affiliate for away games. Windhorst discussed the move during an episode of the The Hoop Collective Podcast, on Wednesday.

“He’s only going to play in the South Bay Lakers’ home games. He’s only going to kind of be a part-time G League player, and he’s not getting on United Airlines to fly to these road games,” Windhorst revealed. He went on to describe it as “special treatment and nepotism” while criticizing the Lakers for the decision.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick previously described Bronny’s standing as a G-League member as “fluid” while speaking with reporters, last month. “Our plans are always fluid based on real time,” Redick said at the time, as caught by ESPN. “I believe we have two guys dressing today that as of yesterday we’re not dressing out. The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and South Bay has always been the plan since day one. [General manager] Rob [Pelinka] and I have talked about that. LeBron’s talked about that.”

Bronny James Won’t Be Playing In Away Games

Bronny made his debut in the G League, last Saturday, scoring 6 points to go along with 4 assists and 3 rebounds. LeBron, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell, were all in attendance for the game. The Lakers are currently 6-4 with a matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies scheduled for Wednesday night. Check out Brian Windhorst’s full discussion on The Hoop Collective Podcast below.

Former NBA player Kyle Singler has fans worried about his mental health after sharing a video of himself shirtless, ranting about fearing for his life. The video began circulating online, this week, five years after he last played for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I have been mistreated and abused, neglected, made into a mental example,” Singler said in the post. “And I fear for my life every day. And people in my community make me look out as if I’m going to be someone that’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful. I feel like I have a certain way about myself and strength and purpose that does not get valued or get treated properly.”
