Several reports have confirmed that former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette was indicted last week by a grand jury in Vegas on assault with a deadly weapon and other illegal firearm violations.

According to reports, Arnette allegedly brandished a weapon at a valet at Park MGM when he produce a ticket to retrieve his vehicle. One attendant told authorities at the time that they thought Arnette “was going to shoot him and his manager” after hearing the “sound of a gun cocking.”

“I guess he didn’t know where his valet ticket was, he couldn’t find it,” a Metro police officer told the grand jury. “They didn’t want to give him his valet ticket and he got upset and produced a firearm and took the keys.”

Arnette was drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft in the first round by the Raiders. The 26-year-old signed a reserve/futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, but was released from his contract a little more than a week later after catching these charges.

Arnette’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 24.

SOURCE SPORTS: Devin Haney Talks His Preparation Ahead of Super Fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko

George Kambosos Jr v Devin Haney

A big year in boxing roars on as Devin Haney will take on Vasiliy Lomachenko over 12 rounds for Haney’s undisputed lightweight champion. Entering undefeated at 29-0 with 15 knockouts, Haney has one mission, dominate Lomachenko.

Speaking with The Source, Haney is poised and knows he fully controls the situation. In conversation, Haney spoke about taking on Lomachenko, what Loma is the right opponent right now, his training, faith, and more.

You got a big fight coming. A super fight with you and Lomachenko. With all of the media appearances and faceoffs, how do you lock in on your focus and not get lost in the chaos of what’s happening?

Devin Haney: I’ve been locked in for a while now. This is a fight I’ve been wanting for years. So it’s easy for me to focus and lock in. I really want to showcase my skillset and everything I bring to the table and go in there and dominate him. I’m coming to show how great I really am.

As the champ, you have the target on you. What’s the difference in being or competing as a challenger and somebody who wants the belts as opposed to someone who’s the actual title holder and on top of the mountain?

I look at it no differently. I still feel like a hunter. I’m still hunting. I still want to fight the top guys. I’m lining them up one by one, and I’m going to keep beating who is in front of me. There is no difference.

You mentioned wanting this fight for a while. You once mentioned there wasn’t a chance Lomachenko would beat you. Then he lost to Lopez months after. What let you know there was value in this fight for you?

Because at one point, the world had him as number one pound for pound. He’s still Loma. He’s not, you know, a slouch. He’s somebody you cannot look past and has crazy experiences. So he brings value to the table. So I want to go in there and make it look easy.

You bring a great deal of respect for each boxer into every fight. Is there a moment where you step back, either before or after, and realize the gravity of who you’re actually fighting?

Every fight, it’s a challenge on paper, but it’s my job to go in there and make it as easy as possible. So, whatever he brings to the table, it won’t matter. When he steps into the ring with me, I’m a different animal.

We mentioned his loss to Lopez, and he’s on a redemption streak now, winning three in a row. You saw the win against Jamaine Ortiz, what did you see that you kept in mind for this one?

That wasn’t a real fight that I really tried to gauge because it wasn’t his best performance. I tried to look at his best performances and gauge Loma from that and study those.

What have you focused on that you wanted to bring specifically into this fight? When you’re training, what have you decided to hone in on?

I’m really just sharpening my tools all around. I want just to sharpen everything and go into the fight as strong and fast as possible.

You moved to Las Vegas as a teen. Now, years later, you headline one of the biggest fights the city has ever seen. What does that feel like for you?

Oh, it’s a blessing. I thank Allah for putting me in this position, it’s something that I’ve always dreamed of. Now, I’m here and cannot thank him enough. I continue to thank him daily for it. I’m definitely one of the chosen ones. I’m excited to go in there and really have fun and showcase my skills.

You mentioned your faith. I saw that you made that trip to Mecca. What was that like for you?

It was a dream come true. It was so surreal. It was crazy, and I can’t even put into words how it felt.

For us here, at the The Source, of course, we are rooted in Hip-Hop. In this 50th year of Hip-Hop, is there an artist or song that you get into during training and preparation?

I listen to everybody. EST Gee, Future, and Lil Baby are my top three right now. I be all over the place. It depends on how I’m feeling that day.

SOURCE SPORTS: Ja Morant Suspended From All Grizzlies Activities Amid New Gun Video

Screen Shot 2023 05 15 at 8.50.33 AM

Merely two months after his suspension from the Grizzlies for flashing a gun on Instagram Live, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended from all Grizzlies activities indefinitely after he was seen flashing a gun again on Instagram Live.

The video was noticed on Morant’s friend, Davonte Pack’s IG feed.

Memphis suspended Morant while an investigation is taking place, but NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said, “We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.”

Back in March, Morant was suspended eight games due to conduct detrimental to the team after brandishing a gun in a Colorado nightclub. Morant didn’t make All-NBA, which resulted in nixing more than $39 million in potential earnings. The eight-game suspension in March factored into Morant’s All-NBA chances.

Past decisions have also impacted Morant off the floor. He has become one of the biggest faces of the NBA through endorsement deals with Nike, Powerade, Hulu and many more notable brands. The arrival of Morant’s first Nike signature was delayed in April.

World Champion Olympic Medalist Tori Bowie Passes Away At 32-Years-Old

tori

As an Olympic medalist and world champion, Tori Bowie was a force to be reckoned with on the track. Yesterday, her sudden death shocked the athletic community and left her fans and loved ones confused.

Deputies were called for a well-being check at a home in the 5400 block of Bowman Drive after Frentorish “Tori” Bowie had not been seen or heard from in several days. When deputies went inside, they found Bowie, 32, dead in the home.

There were no signs of foul play, the Sheriff’s Office said. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.

“USATF is deeply saddened by the passing of Tori Bowie, a three-time Olympic medalist and two-time world champion,” USA Track and Field CEO Max Siegel said in a statement. “A talented athlete, her impact on the sport is immeasurable, and she will be greatly missed.”

The 32-year-old Mississippi native had retired from professional running in 2019, but remained active in the sport as a coach and mentor to young athletes. Pharrell even pegged her for a collaboration with SolarHu labeling her an inspiration.

Pharrell said, “Tori is an inspiration to me and to everyone she meets. After facing a few personal setbacks years ago, she persevered and worked her way to winning three Olympic medals and the 2017 100 meter world championship — making her the fastest woman in the world. Her inner strength is the embodiment of everything SolarHu is about.

Bowie, who retired from international competition in 2019, was one of the brightest stars in track and field. In 2017 she won gold in the 100m at the World Championships in London, which remains the most-recent gold medal a woman from the United States has won.

Bowie was taken in by her grandmother as an infant after she was left at a foster home. She considered herself a basketball player and only reluctantly showed up for track, but Bowie was a fast learner, becoming a state champion in the 100, 200 and long jump before going to college.

Her first major international medal was a 100-meter bronze at worlds in 2015. After winning, she said, “my entire life my grandmother told me I could do whatever I set my mind to.”

SOURCE SPORTS: Shaquille O’Neal And Blackway Release New Single “King Talk” After Viral NBA Moment

Screen Shot 2023 05 03 at 9.36.40 AM

NBA Hall-of-Famer, entertainment personality, musical artist-producer, entrepreneur, and international artist Shaquille O’Neal has released a new single with emerging hip-hop artist Blackway called “King Talk”. Produced by Koko, the song and official lyric video are out now on all streaming platforms via Hive Music/Position Music.

O’Neal first teased the song on Feb. 7 on his TwitterInstagram, and TikTok, in a viral animation video that celebrated LeBron James surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabaar as the all-time leading scorer in NBA history. Shaq has over 60 million combined social media followers, and the video featuring “King Talk” has now been viewed over 16 million times, leaving many people in the comment section asking Shaq when the song will be officially released. “King Talk” is one of Shaq’s first steps back into rapping after dropping his notorious hip-hop albums Shaq Diesel and Shaq-Fu: Da Return in the mid-90’s. With the NBA Playoffs in full swing, Shaq and Blackway decided today was the perfect day to drop it.

“KoKo and I have been sending beats back and forth for a minute now and after he played me this one, I knew I had to jump on it. I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment for a collab with Blackway and this was it. This is the type of record that gets me hyped like I’m walking out for game seven of the finals. The lyrics and vibe of this track was so perfect for the moment when LeBron James set the NBA scoring record and I knew I had to share it with the world—a king recognizes a king. It was crazy to see so many people connect with the song when they heard the teaser, just like I did when we created it,” says O’Neal.

“King Talk” was in the works with O’Neal, Blackway and Koko for months and the trio have plans to release more music together in 2023 and beyond.

As Conor MacGregor eloquently put it, Nate Diaz is on a rampage.

Just ten days after the announcement of his fight against Jake Paul, which is slated for August 5th, former UFC fighter Nate Diaz choked a man until he was unconscious in a brawl on the streets of New Orleans.

In a totally separate occasion, but on the same night, Diaz threw a water bottle at Chase DeMoor during a live Misfits boxing event in NOLA after being heckled and called a “p*ssy” by the reality TV star.

Both incidents have been caught on camera.

Shaq’s Son Shareef O’Neal Admits He Hid Who His Father Was At School

shaq2

According to Shareef O’Neal, growing up with a celebrity dad has its ups and downs.

During a recent interview with Essence Magazine, Shareef O’Neal—current power forward for the NBA G League Ignite and second oldest son of Shaquille O’Neal—revealed that he and his siblings chose to keep the identity of their father a secret in order to shield them from being treated differently.

Shareef explained:

“The thing about me that not a lot of people know is nobody knew who my dad was at none of my schools until I was about 15 or 16 years old. All the parent-teacher conferences, it was just my mom who came. It was a set plan. We just kind of hid it so people didn’t treat us differently.”

“But when basketball season started coming around, people started filming the games. There was a small game, 8 o’clock in the morning, my dad came, and someone happened to film him. They posted it on YouTube, and that was it after that. Everyone knew.”

“I feel like being the son of an athlete of his caliber made me grow up a lot faster. I got to see things most young kids wouldn’t see. I got to be behind the scenes of the NBA life and that famous lifestyle.”

Shareef’s sister, Amirah O’Neal, added that growing up with Shaq as their father was “fun.”

“Growing up with my dad being Shaquille O’Neal was great. There were some good things as well as bad things, but due to the fact that I had two amazing parents growing up, paving my own and staying in my own lane has been pretty easy.”

The five O’Neal kids–Shareef, Amirah, Myles, Shaqir, and Me’arah recently came together for a campaign for Silk, rocking the iconic milk mustaches from the ’90s as a nod to their old dad.

Amirah shared her excitement of working on this campaign and paying homage to her father.

“Working on something so special like the Silk Nextmilk campaign along with my siblings was such a great experience. I had such a good time, and I’m so glad that my siblings and I had the chance to get together and pay homage to my dad’s ad.”
