YTB Fatt Looks To Run Up The “Score” On His Competition On Latest Single

YTB Fatt is one of the Southern hip-hop figures that continues to climb up the ranks with every release. The rapper hailing from the Arkansas/Tennessee border embodies a lot of what is going on in the modern Memphis scene. Bellowing and dark trap bangers are the name of the game, and the 10K Projects affiliate is bringing that tenfold. The 22-year-old also arguably possesses one of the smartest ears when it comes to production. Once again, he lives up to that billing. YTB Fatt coasts over a ghoulish instrumental on his newest single “Score”. This is his first release since the “Get Up On It / Get Back” two pack from early June.

Also helping him is his willingness to drop quite consistently. While that can be a potential problem, Fatt avoids that at all costs by being more and more engaging with each listen. Rarely does he come across as lackadaisical on a track, even though his flows come across that way. If you get down to the nitty gritty of his lyrics, YTB Fatt is going in more times than not. On “Score”, he raps with a sense of urgency mixed with confidence, as he refuses to let the competition pass him up. His hunger to be a cut above the rest translates into his music and does very effectively here. Hopefully, with the number of singles he has released this year, Fatt is nearing the release of a new project. In 2024, he has put out close to 10 solo tracks, some of which have resulted in some mini, three-song collections.

Killer Mike Speaks On His Arrest At The GRAMMYs On “HUMBLE ME”

Killer Mike was involved in a lot of controversy at this year’s GRAMMY Awards. The veteran lyricist from Atlanta was nominated for three categories –Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance– and took home the honors in each one. For a lot of casual rap fans, it was an utter shocker, but it was also quite surprising overall. Not only did Mike usurp Travis Scott, Drake, Metro Boomin and more, but he also got the attention from an inconsistent panel of voters. However, the night was a bittersweet one. The Run The Jewels rapper would be arrested for a misdemeanor battery charge in the nearby area surrounding the award show. Overall, this is why we have this new Killer Mike single, “HUMBLE ME”, in front of us.

This is his first release since dropping a longer version of “EXIT 9” with Offset a few months ago. On “HUMBLE ME”, Killer Mike compares his ordeal to the Biblical story about Daniel and the lion’s den, according to Billboard. The accompanying visuals are equally powerful, as it shows him losing his chains, rings, and other expensive pieces, just like how he was stripped of his moment at the GRAMMYs. Additionally, his son Mikael “Pony Boy” Render makes an appearance in the video, too after his life-altering kidney transplant. This song is the perfect encapsulation of something good coming out of something negative.

Did that for Atlanta bruh, swept up like a janitor
Got sent to the slammer bruh

Behind me Satan I walk out the door with my head up and handcuffs with pride

Midwxst Is Gearing Up For His “BACK IN ACTION” Series With Blistering “GUN SMOKE”

Midwxst is going to be BACK IN ACTION for a fourth time sometime this year. If you are not familiar, the Indiana rapper and singer has this longstanding series of EPs that dates back to 2021. Unfortunately, the last time fans got a hold of one of these tapes was back in 2022 with 3.0. Furthermore, there was even a point where midwxst was looking to axe the series at three. Thankfully, the 21-year-old genre chameleon decided to keep it going in February of this year, according to Genius. People are still waiting for the exact release date as of now. So, to tide people over midwxst has a new single from it for us called “GUN SMOKE”.

Overall, there are three promotional tracks from BACK IN ACTION 4.0. “FIRE” with fellow emo MC DC The Don was the inaugural track, dropping back in early April. Then, fans would be treated to “E30”, a rage-esque cut which midwxst explores quite often. So, “GUN SMOKE” brings our current total to three, and hopefully it will be the last preview before the hopeful release in July. “GUN SMOKE” is another turnt song, as it sees midwxst perform his heart out over ear-deafening bass. It is the rapper in his most aggressive state, and it figures to be a hit on the project.

Latto Is On Another Playing Field With Multi-Phased Banger “Big Mama”

The female rap scene is churning out hit after hit this year it seems, and we are here for it. Latto is one of those leading ladies right now, and songs like “Big Mama” are the reason why. From her to stellar feature on Anycia’s “BACK OUTSIDE” to the threatening “Sunday Service”, Big Latto is putting her heels on the necks of her competition. This has the possibility of being the sixth single from her upcoming album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. “Big Mama” was previously teased a couple of weeks ago on social media, and from the snippet, it seemed the song was going for more of a syrupy and seductive, R&B vibe.

Well, that is partially true, as Latto and her fleet of talented producers (COUPE, Tay Keith, OZ) switch things up halfway through. The intensity level goes from 0-100 almost instantaneously, as her flows and bars get more aggressive. Throughout the 2:54 runtime, she talks about various feelings one experiences throughout a relationship. From insecurities to being incredibly smitten, she covers it all. Like the instrumental, Latto is dynamic, as you get hints of seriousness, vulnerability, and humor all in one.

Lil Durk Recounts His Life Lately On “Went Hollywood For A Year”

Lil Durk is getting into his introspective and heartfelt side on “Went Hollywood For A Year”. This is the newest and second solo release for the Chicago, Illinois rapper, following up February’s “Old Days”. It seems that the prolific veteran is getting back into his more melodic and personal bag for 2024, but it makes sense. He is getting ready to drop Love Songs 4 the Streets 3 very soon.

This is a series in which Durk switches his turnt energy for mellow cuts about his life, relationships, and more. The last time fans got an entry in this series was 2019, which came two years after the original. Lil Durk has also been on this energy for a minute, though, as his 2023 album Almost Healed focused on similar topics. “Went Hollywood For A Year” sees Smurk work with frequent collaborator trap legend Southside. The Atlanta producer lends him a skittering, piano-heavy instrumental, which he raps passionately over. “Tell your mama I send my love and we forever gon’ be a family / Big brother died at the club (Oh, woah), I don’t like to party or be around it (Woah, woah, woah)“. Stream the brand-new single now, or watch the music video below.

Erica Banks Flexes Her New Derriere Again In NSFW Single “ON HIS FACE”

Throughout the career of Texas rapper Erica Banks, she has shown that she is not shy about her assets. This continues to be more and more common for the female rap community to be more out there. The saying “sex sells” rings true still, as every time she drops, the number of clicks is always massive. Even though her and a lot of other stars are capitalizing on this, it has not come without criticism. Many were already aware of Erica having a BBL, and most were praising her for how it looked. However, she went back for another round and fans were confused. But Erica Banks is showing that could not care less, as she twerks up a storm in the visuals for her new single, “ON HIS FACE”.

This one of several releases for the 25-year-old over the last seven months or so. A good chunk of the tracks has been YouTube exclusive. Only “ON HIS FACE” and “I Ain’t Fresh” –the song about the viral meme– are on streaming platforms. Erica Banks has mostly been doing just fine with the freestyles, but both of these songs could be possible singles for an LP down the line. That of course is just speculation, but it might be time for her to drop an album.

Despite it being nearly a year since Real Rap B****, Erica could reward herself nicely, especially given where she is at right now. “ON HIS FACE” is already doing well on YT, pulling in over 170,000 views in three days. Whether you want to knock her for being overtly sexual in her music is up to you. But we see this as a prime opportunity for the Flow Queen to cash out.

Jaden Looks Back On His Relationship With Kylie Jenner On “‘Roses’”

Jaden is quite the versatile artist, making it much easier to make tracks like “‘Roses’”, for example. On this meditative and atmospheric alternative single, the son of Will Smith is musing about love. “Roses / Left them at your door ’cause I was hoping (‘Cause I was hoping) / They would lead you home tonight ’cause I (Yeah, okay, I was in the, phew-phew) / Don’t sleep ‘less you’re by my side (Okay, I was in the senseless seas, yeah, I came)“. We have seen him take this route before on tracks before, but things take a turn on the backend.

All our boundaries tested ’em / I act nice, but I’m bad as the rest of ’em / ‘Cept that one night that we found love at the festival / And I left feelin’ hopeless / And we wasn’t the closest when I wrote this, but you still deserve roses“. These are just a few bars on the third verse from “‘Roses’” in which Jaden calls back to his up and down relationship with a teenage Kylie Jenner. This pre-superstar connection was somewhat romantic, but according to Genius, it was never fully confirmed. Furthermore, the festival line is a reference to the music video for his 2014 song “Blue Ocean”, which Kylie was also in. On that song he talks about their Coachella hang out, “Man, I met a girl at Coachella / I like her but you know I couldn’t tell her / ‘Cause she has her own fella“.

Overall, this is an interesting part of the song, mostly because both are so far removed from this fling. It is also out of nowhere, because this is “‘Roses’” is Jaden’s first song is nearly three years. Additionally, 2021 was the last year we got a project from the 25-year-old. Who knows why he decided to look back on this moment in his life, so perhaps stick around with HNHH for any possible developments surrounding “‘Roses’”.

6LACK Tells Us How He Really Feels On “F**k The Rap Game

It seems that more than ever, being a musician of any genre comes with a lot of expectation. Whether that be to constantly spoon-feed fans with new music every week or be pressed by labels to make hits, it can sap the soul out of anyone. On top of that, with certain social media apps creating stars out of nowhere and AI technology running amuck, the aura of music sometimes gets lost. That is probably only a sliver of what 6LACK is speaking his mind on with “F**k The Rap Game”.

Even though the Atlanta native is recognized more for his raspy and lowkey singing voice, he can certainly bust out some solid raps, too. So, him venting his frustrations on a track like this does not come across as corny or unwarranted. Across the four-minute plus run time of “F**k The Rap Game”, 6LACK portrays feelings of anger, loneliness, and confusion. His comments about this track, collected by Uproxx, certainly give off those same emotions as well. “I came into the industry before the streaming era, and I’ve witnessed a lot of change since then”, 6LACK begins.

“Over the last few years there seems to be a lot more moments where it feels like being an artist is about everything besides the actual music… This song is a personal reflection about distractions within the music industry that detract from what this art form was created for. I’m distancing myself from the politics and reminding myself what my purpose is within the genre”.

Shoreline Mafia Have Another Hit On Their Hands With “Work”

“We gave y’all four f***ing years to catch up… Shout out to a couple motherf***ers that did do they s*** but ain’t nobody did it like us. Where y’all plaques at?”. That is the type of energy that Los Angeles, California rap tandem Shoreline Mafia is on right now after dropping “Work”. The duo, known for their dark and club-ready sound, made their long-awaited comeback just over a month ago.

After a busy 2020, which saw them drop single after single, as well as their fifth overall project, Mafia Business and its deluxe, they went radio silent. You could find OHGEESY and Fenix Flexin doing some solo work, but absolutely nothing for four years. Almost assuredly, there had to be some people out there who had their doubts about how they would sound together after such a long break. Those concerns have certainly been put to rest, as “HEAT STICK” is already doing serious numbers, raking in over 24 million streams on Spotify. What is insane about them dropping “Work” is that their next album could feature slapper after slapper. That is seemingly the trajectory Shoreline Mafia is on, as this track has incredible bounce and some sticky four-count flows.

Key Glock Is Locked In On The Ominous & Braggadocious Slapper “Big Big Money”

It seems that fans have been waiting an eternity for Key Glock to drop “Big Big Money”. Well, the wait is finally over, as the prolific rapper has delivered it this weekend. His supporters on YouTube have claimed that “REAL Key Glock fans been waiting on this since 2017”. If that is true, then this song had better be good. To no surprise it is, as the Memphis talent continues to churn out hits in 2024.

Every single that has been put out this year has resonated with audiences. Whether it be the production, the flows or the bars, Key Glock continues to prove why he is one of the most consistent MCs in the game. Once again, Mr. Glock links up with his partner in crime, King Wonka. These two just always seem to be on the same wavelength and “Big Big Money” is another example of that. Even though the 26-year-old sticks to a certain lyrical formula, it rarely comes across as repetitive. His ever-changing flows and his recognition for interesting trap beats keep you on your toes. One track that we feel is a good example of this is “F*** Around & Find Out”. “Big Big Money” is also like the latter, as Glock slices through the dark instrumental like a hot knife through butter.
