Moreover, Tennessee rapper Brezden is Guwop’s latest protégé, as the legendary trap MC announced on Tuesday (August 22). In a clip, he christens the up-and-comer with a 1017 chain.

Ez Mil made the whole rap game turn their heads when Eminem and Dr. Dre signed him to Aftermath, Interscope, and Shady. Moreover, the Filipino-American MC is the first artist to have done so since 50 Cent back in 2002, which already sets up high expectations. Fortunately, if you’re a fan of any of these artists, you’re probably going to like what the first release after his signing, DU4LI7Y: REDUX has to offer. Across 11 tracks, Ez showcases a lot of lyrical dexterity, narrative prowess, catchy melodic writing, and crisp but grounded instrumentals. If you hadn’t heard of this new talent yet, then let this be your first taste of someone that could rise to great heights.

Furthermore, that potential is based on pretty much every aspect of songwriting and production here. In addition, it has the additional cultural component of representing his heritage, switching between rapping in English and Tagalog on songs like “27 Bodies,” and he’s equally as fiery with both. Ez Mil says that Eminem made a dad joke about his age when the two met for the first time. He recalled being introduced to the legendary rapper during an interview with YouTube channel RX931, over the weekend.

“Meeting them, it was a whole trip, man,” the 24-year-old said of meeting Eminem, as well as Dr. Dre. “Even going through the lobby. Like, Dre was sitting right there in the lobby of the studio. I was peeking through the door and my brother and mama all went in. Dre stood up with his huge self and was like, ‘Hey, superstar.’ I’m like, ‘What the hell are you talking about?’”

Polo G Found His New Artist CNN Mikey At An Airport

Sometimes, artists strike gold in the most unlikely of places, whether you’re looking for talent or a talent waiting to be found. Moreover, Polo G recently pulled up to Real 92.3 in Los Angeles with his new label signee CNN Mikey, introducing him to the world. For those unaware, the Chicago MC created the ODA label (Only Dreamers Achieve) in 2020, which was part of a partnership deal with Columbia Records. Furthermore, Mikey hails from Toledo, Ohio, but relocated to L.A. when Polo found him. In fact, the story of their link-up is a rare occurrence, but nonetheless an inspiring one for rising artists.

When Polo G and a friend made their way through the LAX airport, CNN Mikey went up to them to say hello. Although they hesitated at first, they loved the couple of songs that the young buck played for them. Shortly afterwards, they got him singed to ODA. “Any artist that I ever scouted or got something to do with, I’m big on creating real relationships and genuine relationships,” the “No Time Wasted” MC remarked to the radio station. “That’s what it’s all about,” the recent signee added.

Polo G Introduces CNN Mikey

Just this week on Wednesday (May 24), CNN Mikey released “FOR MY PEOPLE” along with a music video for the track. Hopefully there are greater things to come for Mikey, and for Polo G’s label. Nicki Minaj’s Record Label Signs 4 Artists: Nana Fofie, Skeng, London Hill, And Rico Danna

She did the mother thing, the wife thing, all that… But now, Nicki Minaj is ready to put her foot on the music industry’s neck once again. 2022 saw her begin an impressive comeback to the rap game, and this New Music Friday (March 4), she dropped off her first single of the year, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” much to fans’ pleasure. Of course, that wasn’t the only big announcement she had in store for us this weekend.

As the weekend was beginning, the mother of one revealed during her Queen Radio show that she officially has a record label of her own, making her the first female artist to achieve such a feat. “I’m not gonna announce the name but I have a record label now,” she dished during last night’s episode. “Because I believe so strongly in loyalty and because I spent my whole life giving you others that turned around and shit on me.”

Nicki Has Big News

As UrbanIslandz reports, Minaj first teased the possibility of her own label in January 2022. Obviously, the Queen of Rap can only have the best on her team, which is why she hired Wendy Goldstein as president of her Republic Records imprint. The industry executive has spent 30 years overseeing creatives in hip-hop, beginning at Epic Records in 1993 and later securing the bag as an A&R at Universal Music’s Geffen Records. In her time in the latter position, she signed the likes of Mos Def, Common, and The Roots.

Elsewhere in her announcement, the Trinidadian native announced that she’s already brought on four signees, each of them bringing something totally unique to the table. First up is Ghanaian singer, Nana Fofie, who appeared in the studio with Minaj as she was doing her Queen Radio broadcast. We’ll also be hearing from Jamaica’s Skeng, who was recently seen shooting a music video with the fashionista during her Carnival vacation in her homeland.

First Signees Revealed

Others who Nicki Minaj wants you to have on your radar include Bronx rapper London Hill, and Rico Danna. The former previously appeared alongside the 40-year-old on her “Likkle Miss (Fine Nine Remix),” and was quick to react to last night’s exciting news. “I Told Ya I Was Cooking Just Wait On Me Yall Love Yall xoxooo,” she wrote on social media.

Future Signee Lil Double 0 Reportedly Facing 15 Years In Jail For Drug & Gun Charges

Lil Double 0, signee to Future’s record label Freebandz, reportedly faces 15 years in prison on drug and gun charges. Moreover, the Memphis-born rapper tweeted that he’d turn himself in to Broward County Jail in Florida on Monday (February 27). From what reports from DJ Akademiks indicate, he did so following a December arrest in the state. Furthermore, paperwork shows that the “Fight That Switch” MC faces charges of trafficking of oxycodone, unlawful carrying of a concealed firearm, possession of ecstasy/MDMA, and driving without a valid license.

Also, Double 0 tweeted a somewhat cryptic message on Wednesday (March 1) that may or may not refer to his circumstances. “Can’t nobody f**k with me !” the rapper tweeted, real name Tyreke Rogers. “I’m just underrated but when I go global they wish they knew me!” In addition, the “Good On Love” artist wrote “Let’s make this week epic” when announcing he’d turn himself in. Even with all the other prolific cases in hip-hop going on at the moment, this might strike fans as a strange anomaly. While it’s not clear whether he’s flexing this move or trying to be proactive, at least his social media doesn’t indicate any fear.

Lil Double 0 Reportedly Set For 15 Years Of Jail Time

Interestingly, this isn’t the only recent arrest related to Broward County. Furthermore, Kodak Black faced rehab for 30 days after he allegedly failed a drug test due to traces of fentanyl reportedly in his system. According to authorities, Yak handed in a drug test five days after failing to submit to a random test, and said submission came back positive. However, while in court on Tuesday (February 28), his legal team maintained that their client never tested positive in the first place.

Moreover, they claim that Kodak’s been seeking help in his other drug addictions. His lawyer Bradford Cohen believes that the testing lab might’ve made a mistake or mixed up his urine sample. In fact, an allegedly star-struck employee admitted that an error in the tests was probable.
