Shannon Sharpe Apologized To Megan Thee Stallion For Making A Vulgar Joke About Her

Megan Thee Stallion is taking one heck of a victory lap in the wake of releasing her new album, Megan. In addition to reupping one of her most high-profile partnerships with a hilarious commercial for Amazon Prime Day, she’s also been celebrating the success of her Hot Girl Summer Tour, which has brought both admirers and increased camaraderie with the current generation of rap girls. She was given a chance to talk about it all — and given an apology for a vulgar joke — on the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay show.

Right at the top of the episode, Sharpe issued his mea culpa for the tasteless joke, which involved a comment on Meg’s attractiveness that came across as very unattractive. During a prior episode in November with fellow former NFL star Chad Johnson, Sharpe noted that Megan was “stacked up like dirty laundry in a dorm room” then, in response to a question about dating her by saying he’d “have her stretched out like a quarter-to-three.”

While he acknowledged that he was out of line, he also assured her it was all said in jest — and as a country girl herself, Meg certainly understood.

Megan Thee Stallion Reveals Who Inspired Her Tequila Brand On “Club Shay Shay”

Megan Thee Stallion has already had a huge year, and the Texas-born performer doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Aside from making her way across North America on her “Hot Girl Summer” tour alongside GloRilla, Meg just recently unleashed her brand-new album, Megan. The project has been a major success so far, and listeners can agree that it was well worth the wait. She’s also been teasing a new, non-music-related endeavor as of late, however. In May of this year, Meg gave her Instagram followers a fun first look at her very own tequila brand.

Specifics of the launch have yet to be revealed, though at the time she said it’d be “dropping soon.” She also shared some exciting new details about it during her recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. According to her, she was encouraged to dabble in the liquor industry by a fellow female superstar, who certainly knows a thing or two about marketing.

Megan Thee Stallion Says Beyonce Encouraged Her To Start Liquor Brand

“Beyonce is actually the person that inspired me to get my own tequila,” she told Sharpe. “Because I used to be the cognac queen. I still am the cognac queen. But as much as I used to enjoy cognac, and I’ve promoted a lot of people’s liquor brands, she was like, ‘the next time I see you, you better have your own. You need to have your own alcohol.’”

A rocky past with her old label 1501 Certified Entertainment also inspired Meg to learn the ins and outs of being her own boss. Shannon Sharpe Apologizes to Megan Thee Stallion for Past Comments

Shannon Sharpe has apologized to Megan Thee Stallion for a joke he made on his podcast episode last year.

In case you missed it, Shannon Sharpe revealed he had a crush on Megan Thee Stallion but made the reveal rather explicit. Appearing on Night Cap with Chad OchoCinco, Shannon said, “I’d have her stretched out like quarter to three.”

He added, “I’d have her opening up like saloon doors.”

But the Internet wasn’t having it and shared their criticism of the NFL Hall of Famer.

Thee Stallion was a guest on his Club Shay Shay pod and Sharpe opened with an apology. “I want to apologize to you personally,” Sharpe said. “I always wanted to sit down and have a conversation with you but I didn’t know if that was going to be possible. I made a comment and told a joke. I said it in jest, but it would have been just as funny as I left you out of it.

“For any unwanted attention, harm, shame, or embarrassment that I caused you or your family, I want to say, as a man sitting before you, I apologize.”

Hot Girl Meg accepted the apology. You can see the moment below.

Megan Thee Stallion Has Fellow H-Town Hottie Beyoncé To Thank For Her New Tequila Brand

Viewers of the 2024 BET Awards are still intoxicated by last night’s (June 30) ceremony. From Usher’s hotly debate Lifetime Achievement Award tribute to the flurry of individual performances, watchers have found a way to extend the televised celebration. One of the night’s entertainers, Megan Thee Stallion’s latest business venture, has something to keep the party going.

On May 19, the “Down Stairs DJ” rapper teased that she was gearing up to launch a tequila brand. Today (July 1) during her appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Megan revealed that she has fellow Houston hottie Beyoncé to thank for the business’ formation.

When host Shannon Sharpe asked Megan about her next chapter as an independent artist, she revealed that it has leveled her up in all ways with the guidance of Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

“When I was in the situation with [1501] and I wanted to get out of it, they told me you need to do this on your own,” she said. “Like, ‘You already know what it is. You already have all the tools. All the legal sh*t you are going through, I know you are learning something. So you should figure out how to get out here and be your own boss.’”

Megan then opened up about the suggestion Beyoncé made. “Beyoncé is actually the person that inspired me to get my own tequila,” she said. “Because I used to be the cognac queen. I still am the cognac queen. But as much as I used to enjoy cognac, and I’ve promoted a lot of people’s liquor brands, she was like, ‘the next time I see you, you better have your own. You need to have your own alcohol.’”

Shannon Sharpe Issues Formal Apology To Megan Thee Stallion Following His NSFW Comments

Shannon Sharpe continues to build a media empire. From his work on ESPN with First Take to his unfiltered podcast Club Shay Shay, there are not many bigger than him in the business. With that pull comes a lot of responsibility as well and sometimes his personality can lead to chaos. For example, he Unc made some questionable comments about Houston, Texas rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion. In late November of last year, Shannon Sharpe was down bad for the “Savage” hitmaker on his second podcast, Nightcap.

The NFL Hall-Of-Famer was just saying anything and everything about her, talking about what he would do to the MC in the bedroom. “I’d have her stretched out like quarter to three”, Sharpe said to his co-host and former NFL wideout, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. “I do it three ways, Ocho: deep, hard, and continuously… I’d have her opening up like saloon doors”. He even added that “she has knees like Barry Sanders”. Megan’s fans and other listeners alike were quite disgusted by the 56-year-old’s NSFW comments.

Sharpe and Johnson did clear the air and apologize shortly after. However, after getting Megan on Club Shay Shay, he wanted to make sure he buried the hatchet in person. “For any unwanted attention, harm, shame, embarrassment that I caused you or your family, I wanna say as a man, as I sit here before you, I apologize”. Megan was thankful for the gesture and to that they shared a shot of Shannon’s Le Portier Shay cognac.

Shannon Sharpe Called Out By Fans For Hypocrisy Regarding Sha’Carri Richardson And Caitlin Clark’s Olympic Snubs

Two of the most talked-about American athletes, Sha’Carri Richardson and Caitlin Clark, come from diverse backgrounds and sports, among many other things. However, they have had similar setbacks at the Olympic level. Preventing them from qualifying for their first Olympics at pivotal junctures in their careers. Sha’Carri Richardson’s failing drug test kept him out of the Olympics in 2021. As for the USA women’s basketball team, which is headed to the Olympics in Paris, Caitlin Clark was just cut from the team for not “checking more boxes” than the other 12 players chosen. Shannon Sharpe has come under fire for his hypocrisy about the two women’s similar circumstances.

In the argument, Shannon Sharpe has stirred up some controversy. The well-known sportscaster has had contrasting views over Sha’Carri Richardson and Caitlin Clark’s failure to qualify for the Olympics. Fans claim that his criticism of Richardson is unjustified. Sharpe has since received heavy criticism for his remarks. Shannon Sharpe recently supported the rookie Caitlin Clark after word leaked that she would not be playing for the United States at the Olympics in Paris.

Shannon Sharpe Called Out For Sha’Carri Richardson And Caitlin Clark Hypocrisy

Shannon Sharpe backed Caitlin Clark by smashing USA Basketball’s decision to leave her off the Olympic team. He said, “Name a more popular woman basketball player right now than Caitlin Clark.” However, he had a fiery reaction to Sharri Richardson when asked about her losing her Olympic berth. Criticizing the sprinter, he said, “She could’ve competed. She didn’t qualify to compete. Stop the bulljive antics. Train hard. Sports aren’t sympathetic. You do or you don’t.”

Sha’Carri Richardson was suspended for ingesting prohibited drugs in violation of WADA regulations. She participated in and won the 100-meter US Olympic trial event in spite of her anguish. Sadly, Shannon Sharpe, who supported the authority’s choice of Caitlin Clark due to her popularity, didn’t appear to think much of this touching tale. The 2024 WNBA draft saw an average viewership of 2.45 million, the most ever for the yearly event, thanks in large part to Iowa women’s basketball player Caitlin Clark. The 22-year-old is a fantastic performer, scoring 16.8 points per contest on average. Fans of Sha’Carri Richardson, however, feel that Shannon Sharpe’s mockery of the current world champion’s supporters is inexcusable.

Shannon Sharpe Under Fire For Insensitive Reaction To Ray J Being Groomed & Sexually Abused As A 14-Year Old

Shannon Sharpe, the former NFL player, recently had a conversation with Ray J for his Club Shay Shay podcast. Ray reflected on his early encounters with sexuality at one section of the talk. Ray J is shown in a video posted on the Club Shay Shay’s official social media platforms about his adolescent experience “dating” older ladies. The now 43-year-old performer was questioned by Shannon Sharpe over those interactions. “Was it the allure of an older woman, it was the fact that somebody was like 15, 20, 30 years older than you? What was your attraction?” Sharpe asked.

Ray J said that while he was just 14 years old, he dated a 34-year-old lady. Then Ray remembered an adult lady washing him back then, to Shannon Sharpe’s amusement. Journalist Ernest Owens responded by criticizing Shannon Sharpe for pushing that particular subject. Owens said that the First Take pundit was demeaning to underage victims of sexual abuse. “I’ll say this and move on, but I seriously can’t stand to watch or hear another thing about this Club Shay Shay show again,” Ernest Owens tweeted.

Shannon Sharpe Under Fire For Seemingly Supporting Grooming

Ernest Owens also wrote, “Shannon Sharpe doesn’t address this with concern, and instead marketed this clip on the show’s Instagram as ‘dating older women – Ray J shares his experience.’ A 14-year-old isn’t ‘dating’ a 30-year-old. It’s called grooming. It’s called molestation. [It’s] called sexual abuse.” Other headlines in recent days dealt with the subject of sexual assault against men and boys. For instance, footage of Power actor Michael Rainey Jr. being groped by the sister of streamer TyTy James during a livestream incited fury on the internet. 50 Cent was similarly dismissive of the incident.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe has just announced that he has inked a multi-year contract with ESPN. His podcast empire continues to do numbers partly because of the entertainment value they provide. When talking about serious subjects, Shannon is probably not the person to go to. He has had problems in the past dealing with serious conversations; just ask Amanda Seales. Overall, it is not a good look for Shannon Sharpe.

Shannon Sharpe Announces Massive Multi-Year ESPN Deal On “First Take”

Three-time Super Bowl winner and Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe has signed to a multi-year arrangement with ESPN. Sharpe’s role on First Take, ESPN’s popular morning discussion program with Stephen A. Smith and host Molly Qerim, will grow as a result of this new agreement. “Shannon Sharpe has been an incredible addition to the First Take team, enhancing the show’s dynamic with his engaging presence and insightful commentary,” said David Roberts, ESPN’s Head of Event & Studio Production. “Shannon’s chemistry with Stephen A. Smith has elevated our debates and been another key reason First Take is the premier destination for morning sports discussion.”

Thanks in part to Sharpe’s contributions, First Take just achieved its most-viewed May ever and its 22nd straight month of year-over-year growth. Sharpe, who started working at First Take in August 2023, will also play a bigger part in a number of other ESPN shows that will be revealed later. Said Sharpe in a statement, “Being a part of this family has been a blessing. Everything about this relationship with ESPN, Stephen A., and First Take, has been tremendous. I look forward to expanding my role and showing more of the world what I have to offer. The show goes on!” Sharpe, Molly, and Stephen A. announced the news to kick off this morning’s First Take.

Shannon Sharpe Announces ESPN Deal

Molly and Stephen A. Smith were both over the moon for Shannon Sharpe, and the group shared a special moment to open up First Take. Sharpe took in all the love and thanked everyone, then singled out Stephen A. Smith. He said, “Stephen A., I know this moment is not possible without you. As you mentioned to me earlier, you have bosses, but you extended the olive branch and let them know that you wanted me to be a part of this family.” Overall, Shannon Sharpe has been a fantastic addition to the debate program.

Sharpe’s ESPN contract will expire sooner than Smith’s current one, according to the rumored four-year arrangement. Smith’s contract with ESPN expires in July 2025, and during First Take last year, he made hints about seeing Sharpe take over. To be sure, the Hall of Famer has two really popular podcasts, Club Shay Shay and Nightcap, so it’s difficult to envision him wanting ESPN to be his full-time job. First Take is a fantastic side employment, but just as Smith frequently talks about comparable career objectives, Sharpe can aim higher thanks to his vast digital platform.

Shannon Sharpe Reveals Why LeBron James And JJ Redick’s Podcast Is Destined For Failure

Shannon Sharpe has two successful podcasts, so he is familiar with what makes a good show. However, the success of Nightcap and Club Shay Shay is not really due to anyone’s intelligence of any specific subject matter. Of course, Sharpe has an edge and offers insight and understanding about football that goes beyond the surface. The same is true for Chad (Ochcino) Johnson. However, each show’s entertainment value is its primary selling point. Shannon Sharpe said on First Take today that Lebron’s podcast with JJ Redick won’t survive because it is solely about Xs and Os and not entertainment.

For this reason, Sharpe provided his evaluation of the Mind the Game podcast with LeBron James and JJ Redick. On Monday’s First Take, Sharpe contended that James and the Los Angeles Lakers’ prospective head coach would need to change their conversational approach from discussing Xs and Os. Sharpe appears to believe that the podcast won’t last very long if that’s all they talk about. The podcast is more of a mission of educating and celebrating the game of basketball by sharing knowledge, but Shannon Sharpe does not care and says it won’t last long doing that.

Shannon Sharpe Says LeBron James And JJ Redick’s Podcast Will Fail

“I know you said that he and JJ had that podcast — Mind the Game — and it’s supposed to be Xs and Os,” Sharpe said. “Let me tell you something: if you ever want to start a podcast, and this is what I tell Stephen A., you’ve got to be able to adapt. You’ve got to be able to branch out. Because if all you talk about is Xs and Os, it ain’t gonna last very long.” Smith concurred, pointing out that Kendrick Perkins has been making similar statements for months. Even if a video of them drawing Xs and Os from three days ago on the account’s official YouTube channel has 428k views as of the writing of this piece, a basketball podcast about basketball seems like a bridge too far.

Even if a video of them drawing Xs and Os from three days ago on the account’s official YouTube channel has 428k views as of the writing of this piece, a basketball podcast about basketball seems like too unique a notion. The podcast probably won’t appeal to everyone, but James would have launched a podcast much sooner if he felt the need or wanted to discuss other topics. Not to mention Redick’s incredibly popular podcast, The Old Man and the Three. Overall, Shannon wants more hot takes and opinionated arguments in his podcast consumption.

Ray J Says Diddy Needs a ‘Public Whipping’ For Cassie Abuse: ‘100 Lashes, 1,000 Lashes’

Ray J Says Diddy Needs a 'Public Whipping' For Cassie Abuse

Ray J is completely done with Diddy. Speaking with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Ray J acknowledges that “everybody messes up,” but he and Diddy “can’t be cool after that.”

Expanding on the matter, Ray J said: “It’s unforgiveable, it’s too much. Never being able to be around us and our world ’cause we don’t condone that is definitely a fact.”

Furthermore, Ray J thinks Diddy needs a public “whipping,” suggesting, “100 lashes, 1,000 lashes. That would help.”
