49ers Beat Lions with Epic Comeback to Make Super Bowl

The NFC Championship game was a thriller. After starting the game 27-7, the 49ers pulled off an epic comeback to win 34-31 over the Detriot Lions.

a

The key moment for the 49ers was a long pass from Brock Purdy, deflecting off the facemask of a Lions defender, and falling into the hands of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. That play resulted in a touchdown between the two Niners and invigorated Levi Stadium with energy.

“Obviously, nobody wins without a little luck,” San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams said. “Tonight was just our time to get it.”

“We need an explosive play and BA is one-on-one? I’m going to take that,” Purdy said. “I was giving my guy a shot.”

“I was surprised,” Aiyuk said. “I felt the look before, pre-snap, and that I had a chance to get the ball, but he just stayed on top. I don’t even know.”

Purdy threw for 267 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Niners running back Christian McCraffrey ran for 90 yards on 20 touches. He also had two touchdowns.

The Lions head coach, Dan Campbell, faced criticism during and after the game for decisions made when facing fourth down, going for it twice instead of taking field goals for a chance of points. In the first half, the Lions were getting whatever they wanted on offense, but the momentum flipped and the gambles became turnover on downs that cost the team.

The Niners will now face Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday.

Detroit Lions Return to NFC Title Game for First Time Since '91

The NFC Championship game is set. The San Francisco 49ers are set to host the Detroit Lions next Sunday.

The Lions are headed to their first NFC title game since 1991, following a 31-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Lions were led by Jared Goff, who completed 30 of 43 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns. Lions head coach Dan Campbell highlighted arriving with the “big boys.”

“I envisioned that we would have a chance to compete with the big boys, and that’s where we’re at,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. “All you’ve got to do is get in. It’s about placing yourself in the very best position to where you can move. … Here we are. Now, we get a chance to go to San Francisco. We know what kind of team that is, but we’re in a great position. We’ve got a great opportunity.”

The Bucs put up a admirable fight, led by Baker Mayfield’s 349 yards passing. Unfortunately, his two interceptions, one sealing the game for the Lions, were too much for the team to overcome. The Bucs now enter the offseason with numerous questions about their future as Mayfield, No. 1 receiver Mike Evans, and more key players are free agents.

Meeting the Lions in the title game will be the juggernaut Niners, who squeaked out a win against the frisky Green Bay Packers on Saturday. The final score was 24-21.

Much like the Lions-Bucs game, the Packers ended their season with a game losing interception from Jordan Love, picked off by Dre Greenlaw.

The Niners will enter the game hobbled as star receiver Deebo Samuel’s status is uncertain following a shoulder injury.

Notable in the game, was the coming of age moment from quarterback Brock Purdy, silencing doubters about his ability and leading a game-winning touchdown drive. Purdy led the offensive 69 yards down the field over 12 plays. Purdy went 23 for 39 with 252 yards and one touchdown.

“It’s like, we had what we wanted right in front of us, so you have to clean the slate, you have to have a clean mind, and not try to force anything, take what the defense gives you, and find a way,” Purdy said.

“Brock, he made some big plays in this game. Missed a couple, but leading us down on our last drive and getting the win, that’s all I can ask for,” head coach Mike Shanahan said.

The 49ers and Lions will battle in the conference championship on Sunday at 6:30 EST on FOX.

Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, the home of the San Francisco 49ers, will serve as the host site of Super Bowl 60.

According to ESPN, the location will be awarded at the spring owners meeting in Minneapolis next week. The decision would officially lock in a location for Super Bowl 60.

“If the Bay Area has the opportunity, we would be honored to host Super Bowl LX,” 49ers president Al Guido said in a statement.

This would bring the Super Bowl back to Levi’s Stadium for the first time since Super Bowl 50. It would also be the third time the Super Bowl would be played in the Bay Area, as Super Bowl XIX was played at Stanford Stadium in 1985.

Bob Lee Murdered: What We Know

Bob Lee founded CashApp while affiliated with Square (Block) as Chief Technology Officer. Lee had previously worked as a Google Engineer before joining Square to develop the Android app, originally “Square Cash.” Further irradiating his dossier is the fact that he helped WHO develop its app during the Covid-19 pandemic. He did awesome things in his lifetime, so his death aroused agonizing curiosity. What killed Lee was the very fear he had just escaped. He had relocated to Miami based on the increased crime and was only visiting San Francisco when someone stabbed him.

The Attack

A surveillance video displayed bits of his pre-death struggle. The incident occurred early morning in the San Francisco’s Rincon Hill neighborhood. Following the stabbing, Lee was walking, injured, and bleeding along the street. The footage also showed him seeking help from a Toyota Camry owner by showing him his stab wounds. The person behind the wheel wasn’t helpful, leaving Lee to bleed out in the street.

Reports also revealed that Lee called 911 at 2:34 a.m. screaming, “Help, someone stabbed me!” In a police scanner audio, a dispatcher alerted responding officers, quoting Lee’s SOS. “He’s bleeding out,” she added. Upon arrival, the police found him in excruciating pain, suffering from two fatal wounds to the chest. They rushed him to San Francisco General Hospital, where he sadly passed away.

Bob Lee Succumbs To His Injuries

There are many questions flooding people’s minds about this unfortunate occurrence. People have expressed their condolences despite being paper-blank about the stabbing itself. Josh Goldbard, CEO of MobileCoin, highlighted his memory of Lee while confirming his death. He described him as a “dynamo,” “a force of nature,” and “the genuine article.” Rick Lee, the bereaved father, equally put out his brief eulogy, referring to his son as his “best friend.”

He wrote on Facebook: “Bob would give you the shirt off his back.” He recounted his late son’s touching worldview as adhering to a “strict no-judgment philosophy.” There’s no denying it: Bob Lee was a kind genius. Everyone who knew him personally acknowledged that, emphatically.

Bob Lee Gone: More Reactions

San Francisco Mayor, London Breed, has referred to the painful death as a “horrible tragedy.” She also promised more details from the police following a thorough investigation. Not all could have been as close to the deceased as his father, but he certainly crossed note-worthy paths. “It’s so hard to believe he is gone,” Figma CEO Dylan Field tweeted. He recollected his sweet experience meeting Lee in 2006.

MMA fighter Jake Shields also called Bob Lee a “loyal friend” in a tweet that captured Elon Musk’s attention. “Many people I know have been severely assaulted,” Musk lamented. He went on to qualify crime in San Francisco as “horrific,” further tagging Brooke Jenkins, San Francisco District Attorney. Musk’s comment is congruous with sparked concerns about safety in the Bay Area.

Block phenom, Jack Dorsey, posted on Nostr: “Bob was instrumental to Square and Cash App,” bemoaning the “heartbreaking” death. On the more formal side of the ongoing sympathy, the SFPD chief has remarked on current investigations. He told CBS News that it was too early to determine whether it was a targeted or random attack accurately. He also indicated he was withholding some information due to ethical caution. He was confident his officers would come through on their assurance to solve the homicide.

What Does This Mean For FinTech?

The tragic death of Bob Lee has gone beyond further exposing San Francisco’s crime surge. It has put MobileCoin Inc. in the spotlight. Before the news, the Frisco-based startup was relatively unknown. The last thing MobileCoin needed was sudden attention in addition to mourning one of its best brains. Undoubtedly, the tech world as a universal set is united in grief. We should, however, be concerned about the subsequent stand of the private-crypto trend. Will Bob Lee’s successor be able to follow in his mature and anodyne footsteps? We might not know it yet, but the deceased tech giant could have been FinTech’s shield card.

San Francisco Considers Giving $5 Million Per Eligible Black Resident As Reparations

San Francisco has heard the pleas of their people. Now, they’re seriously considering giving out reparations to the Black community. They have not determined exactly what will be done to atone for the years of trauma related to slavery and systemic racism. However, there have been over a hundred suggestions on how the matter should be handled. Some of the ideas presented so far include $5 million for every eligible Black adult, and a $97,000 income for the next 250 years. Elsewhere, others hope to see $1 homes for sale in the city.

On March 14, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors had a meeting to hear another report on the matter. The city-appointed reparations committee put together a presentation with their thoughts and suggestions, hoping to find a solution that works for everyone involved and affected. The task force was created a couple years ago, during the George Floyd protests. According to TMZ, the board was very pleased with what they heard and were supportive of all of the ideas suggested. The only Black member, Shamann Walton, promised that this package will be included in future city budgets. The committee report, with the finalized plans, is expected to arrive in June.

Not Everyone is Happy with Financial Reparations

Not everyone is on board with this, however. Racists, who take issue with giving money to people who didn’t personally endure slavery, as well as those who claim the monstrosities never took place in California, are among those speaking out. In addition, there are also people commenting on the fact that San Francisco does not have a very large Black community – less than 50,000. In addition, critics are concerned about how many will be able to qualify for the reparations.

The San Francisco branch of the NAACP has their reservations as well. They would prefer if the money was instead put towards infrastructure such as education and healthcare. It’s worth noting that only the local chapter is expressing these views. The National NAACP put out a statement in 2019 that they are in favor of financial reparations. Do you think that the California city is moving in the right direction regarding reparations? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more news updates.

San Francisco City Officials Consider $5M Per Black Person Reparations Proposal

Screen Shot 2023 03 16 at 10.54.03 AM

According to several confirmed reports, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors have been sifting through over 100 recommendations for slavery reparations for its Black residents. Some of the suggestions include the elimination of personal debt and tax burdens, guaranteed annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years, homes in San Francisco for just $1 a family and even $5 million per eligible Black person.

On Tuesday, the Board accepted these suggestions from the reparations committee, however, the board received a slew of criticism from “liberal” San Franciscans that didn’t know about the traumatic impact of slavery in the U.S. as well as the new perceived form of slavery, mass incarceration.

“Those of my constituents who lost their minds about this proposal, it’s not something we’re doing or we would do for other people. It’s something we would do for our future, for everybody’s collective future,” said Supervisor Rafael Mandelman.

A final report is due from the committee by June.
