49ers Beat Lions with Epic Comeback to Make Super Bowl

The NFC Championship game was a thriller. After starting the game 27-7, the 49ers pulled off an epic comeback to win 34-31 over the Detriot Lions.

The key moment for the 49ers was a long pass from Brock Purdy, deflecting off the facemask of a Lions defender, and falling into the hands of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. That play resulted in a touchdown between the two Niners and invigorated Levi Stadium with energy.

“Obviously, nobody wins without a little luck,” San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams said. “Tonight was just our time to get it.”

“We need an explosive play and BA is one-on-one? I’m going to take that,” Purdy said. “I was giving my guy a shot.”

“I was surprised,” Aiyuk said. “I felt the look before, pre-snap, and that I had a chance to get the ball, but he just stayed on top. I don’t even know.”

Purdy threw for 267 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Niners running back Christian McCraffrey ran for 90 yards on 20 touches. He also had two touchdowns.

The Lions head coach, Dan Campbell, faced criticism during and after the game for decisions made when facing fourth down, going for it twice instead of taking field goals for a chance of points. In the first half, the Lions were getting whatever they wanted on offense, but the momentum flipped and the gambles became turnover on downs that cost the team.

The Niners will now face Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday.

George Kittle Hit With $13K Fine For Cowboys T-Shirt

Niners tight end George Kittle has been hit with a fine over $13,000 for a “Fuck Dallas” t-shirt he wore against the Cowboys last weekend. Kittle wore the shirt, which was in the Cowboys’ traditional colors, under his uniform and revealed it during a celebration of a teammate’s touchdown. Furthermore, the shirt was an homage to former Niner Gary Plummer. Plummer wore a similar shirt against the Cowboys during the 1994 playoffs. However, The NFL has been considering a fine throughout the week. The typical fine for a personal message uniform violation is a little over $10,000.

Despite this, Kittle was nonchalant about the proceedings. “Probably to get a fine. I wore a personalized T-shirt, maybe an inappropriate word. So it is what it is. It was a decision I made. If they want to fine me, they fine me,” Kittle said when he was asked what punishment he likely faced for the stunt. Furthermore, Kittle voiced no regrets about the situation. “One hundred percent I’d do it again,” Kittle added.

Kittle, Niners Crusing This Season

The Niners have emerged as one of the best teams in the NFL this season. 5-0, they are just one of the two unbeaten teams left in the league. It’s their first 5-0 start since 2019, when the team started 8-0 before dropping their first game. Furthermore, they have a point differential of +99 and have won all games bar one by double digits. The Niners, who began the season with 8-1 Super Bowl odds, are now title favorites at 7-2.

Meanwhile, Kittle continues to thrive. The tight end has 215 yards and three touchdowns through the first five games of the year. He’s already well on his way to surpass his 2022 stats of 765 yards and 11 touchdowns. This week the Niners take on the 2-2 Browns. The Browns, who enter the game as heavy underdogs, will be without starters Joel Bitonio and DeShaun Watson. David Njoku, who suffered full-face burns just a few weeks ago, is listed as questionable on the most recent injury report.

49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy Suffers Torn UCL | The Source

The NFL Offseason will be a season of recovery for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. The third-string-turned-starting quarterback suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow after being tackled during the team’s 31-7 blowout loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Purdy will be sidelined for six months, allowing time for him to return for training camp.

“My arm felt like it stretched out,” Purdy said. “I felt really just like a lot of shocks all over from my elbow down to my wrist, front and back. Just pain really, all over.”

The 49ers are not in an intriguing quarterback situation. Their Week 1 starting quarterback, Trey Lance, broke his ankle in Week 2, canceling him out of the season. Backup Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot in Week 13. His contract is currently up, making him a free agent.
