Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial was a career-making moment for Roddy Ricch, as his debut album went No. 1 and spawned the chart-topping single “The Box.” The 2019 album turns five years old next month, so Ricch is celebrating: Today (November 12), he announced a “5 year anniversary experience” set for December 6 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
As for tickets, there’s an artist pre-sale starting on November 13 at 10 a.m. PT and ending on November 14 at 10 p.m. PT. The password to access that is “NAVYERA.” That will be followed by the general on-sale, which starts on November 15 at 10 a.m. PT. There are some additional pre-sales as well, and more information can be found here.
Also on December 6, Ricch is set to release his third album, The Navy Album.
In his 2022 Uproxx cover story, Ricch talked about what he learned from his early career, saying, “A lot of times, you may get distracted by trying to rekindle relationships with different things. I feel like just what I learned is just sometimes, even if it’s broke, sometimes it’s just better not to deal with certain things or don’t let certain things bother you — everything’s not going to be perfect. Sometimes when you sit down and think about a lot of sh*t, you try to make everything perfect, and I feel like the thing I learned is it’s okay to not be perfect. There’s perfect in imperfection.”
Over the past few years, December has been Roddy Ricch season. He released his chart-topping debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial on December 6, 2019, then followed it with Live Life Fast on December 17, 2021. Now, he’s getting ready to keep the streak alive.
Last night (October 29), Ricch gave Tyler The Creator a shout-out over his new album, Chromakopia, tweeting, “CHROMAKOPIA [fire emoji] ! @tylerthecreator WEST UP , MY TURN !” A few hours later, he followed that up with, “THE NAVY ALBUM THE 6TH OF DECEMBER.”
Ricch might be looking for The Navy Album to be a bounce-back project. Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial was No. 1 and so was the hit single “The Box,” but he didn’t manage to replicate that success with Live Life Fast. The album only managed a No. 4 peak on the Billboard 200 chart, and the closest thing to a hit single it produced was 2021’s “Late At Night,” which peaked at No. 20 on the Hot 100, and is actually his most recent single to even appear on that chart.
In his 2022 Uproxx cover story, Ricch discussed his biggest takeaway from the first part of his career, saying, “A lot of times, you may get distracted by trying to rekindle relationships with different things.
Roddy Ricch exploded onto the scene in the late 2010s. The rapper scored a number one single with “The Box,” but has struggled to maintain this high standard. His second album, Live Life Fast, failed to generate any hits, and it’s been years since he was even featured on a notable single. Roddy Ricch is planning to make a comeback, however. The rapper confirmed that his new album, The Navy Album, is on the way. and he promises that it will keep the West Coast winning streak of 2024 going.
Tellingly, Roddy Ricch build up hype for The Navy Album by referencing another West Coast artist. Tyler, The Creator took over the music world when he dropped CHROMAKOPIA on Monday. Ricch showed love to Tyler, while at the same time claiming to be the next artist up. “CHROMAKOPIA,” he wrote. “Tyler, The Creator. West up, my turn!” A few hours later, Roddy Ricch confirmed that The Navy Blue was arriving this December. “The Navy Album,” he tweeted. “The 6th of December.” The rapper has been hinting at the album’s release for most of 2024. He even told Grunge Cake that it will signify a return to his roots.
Roddy Ricch Also Showed Love To Tyler, The Creator
“I feel like I’m just getting back to my roots of taking my time, being real lethal with my injection,” Ricch stated. “Just trying to really just give it everything I got and being vulnerable as I can to my fans, allowing them into my life.” Roddy Ricch likened The Navy Album to a film soundtrack, and promised that it will be an experience that his listeners will be able to apply to their own lives. “I just always be creating,” he said. “That’s just my safe haven, a way to express myself and keep myself fresh.”
Roddy Ricch has more in common with Tyler, The Creator than West Coast origins. Both were onstage during the now legendary “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth. They performed some of their biggest songs and voiced their support for Kendrick Lamar in the Drake battle. Ricch humbled himself as a performer in comparison to the likes of Tyler and Kendrick, but he insisted that his music connects with fans on an emotional level. “I just try to give it up my all every time,” he asserted. “And even in the hype moments, I try to give my all.” We can’t wait to hear this effort on December 6.
Kendrick Lamar concluded his sensational The Pop Out — Ken & Friends Juneteenth concert at Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, June 19, by welcoming all of the night’s surprise performers — the “friends” in the billing — to dance while he ran through “Not Like Us,” his masterclass Drake diss track that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, five times in a row.

As of this writing, Kendrick Lamar has yet to take the stage for his The Pop Out — Ken & Friends set at Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 19, but the Juneteenth celebration has already been a star-studded event. DJ Hed opened the show and welcomed out a slew of guests, including Ray Vaughn, Westside Boogie, Bino Rideaux, and BlueBucksClan. Mustard was up next and took it to another level.
The acclaimed DJ & producer brought out Blxst, Ty Dolla Sign, Dom Kennedy, Steve Lacy, and Tyler The Creator before taking a moment to honor the late Nipsey Hussle. The Jumbotron displayed a photo of the beloved rapper alongside “RIP NIP: THE MARATHON CONTINUES.” Mustard played “Perfect Ten,” the title track from his platinum-certified 2019 album. The song featured Hussle. The crowd predictably erupted, and Mustard said, “Make some noise so loud that Nipsey Hussle can hear you” before playing Hussle’s “Last Time That I Checc’d” featuring YG.
Kia Forum got even louder when Roddy Ricch joined Mustard on stage to perform “Racks In The Middle,” Hussle’s 2019 song featuring Ricch and Hit-Boy.
Hussle was fatally shot on March 31, 2019, while visiting his Marathon clothing store in South LA. He was 33.

Earlier this week, Compton rapper Roddy Ricch set his intentions for 2024 with an assertive Instagram post declaring that his comeback this year will be “personal, not business,” and today, he took the first major step back into the spotlight with the release of a new single, “Survivors Remorse,” and a chilling music video. Tapping into the spiritual energy of his debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial outro “War Baby,” “Survivors Remorse” finds Roddy recounting the highs and lows of his life since finding fame, celebrating kicking his lean habit, and reveling in fatherhood as a choir sings the chorus over a moody, reflective instrumental.
Religious iconography runs through the Spike Jordan-directed video, which sees Roddy blessing friends and neighbors with portions of his wealth and building a home with his child’s expecting mother. At the end of the video, though, reality breaks in — along with a snippet of another, faster paced song — as a room full of mobile devices lights up with requests for Roddy’s attention and assistance.
The former Uproxx cover artist is no stranger to the demands of celebrity. But now that he’s spent some time off-cycle and recalibrated his own expectations, he’s clearly ready to face them with restored vigor as he rolls out his new album, Navy.

“2024 is PERSONAL not business ”. Those were the words of Compton, California multi-hyphenate Roddy Ricch via his Instagram just over 24 hours ago. After a strong run in the latter half of the 2010’s, especially with Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, it seemed that he was going to be one of the new faces of pop/trap rap. Unfortunately, the quality took a dip on the subsequent releases LIVE LIFE FAST and Feed Tha Streets III. Based on his brand-new single Survivor’s Remorse, it is clear that Roddy Ricch has heard the narrative that he has fallen off.
“Imagine if I had a dollar for every time you say I fell off, I’d be a billionaire“, he raps on the first bar of his second verse. In addition to addressing the doubters, he gives some evidence as to why he has been laying back. “Roddy really anti, they took it pеrsonal, what the f*** was I supposed to do? / I been goin’ through child support / A good daddy, I vouch for it“. It was recently reported that Roddy’s ex-partner, Alexandra Kiser, did not feel that the rapper was there enough for their now three-year-old son.
“He has been arrested on a gun charge, domestic violence and regularly indulges in promethazine use, all of which are concerns for myself and our son”. Unfortunately, Roddy is still going to hear the noise from unforgiving fans about the lack of production. However, fans are seeming to love “Survivor’s Remorse” so far and they should. Production wise, it is gorgeous, with elegant piano melodies that give us flashbacks to “War Baby”. Also, Roddy turns a crisp vocal performance, and you can tell he has dealt with a lot mentally. With The Navy Albumon the way, fans should be thrilled for what Ricch has coming.
What are your thoughts on “Survivor’s Remorse” by Roddy Ricch? Do you think he ever fell off, why or why not? Is this one of the best tracks he has ever put out? Quotable Lyrics:
I was blinded by survivor’s remorse, I was supposed to build, yeah Still solid, still here Still home, I done stepped on base Pride myself off the progress of off bein’ off codeine, I promise, it’s so hard to shake Roddy, you wealthy, Roddy, you golden, Roddy, you built for this Roddy be tired of everybody opinion, behind the closed doors, you could feel this s***
Roddy Ricch had a huge debut album era with Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial: The project went No. 1 and spawned the chart-topping single “The Box.” Since then, he’s come through with the 2021 album Live Life Fast and the 2022 mixtape Feed Tha Streets III. Now he’s ready to add to his legacy once more, as he is gearing up to launch a new era.
On Instagram yesterday (May 30), Ricch shared a new image gallery, photos of him wearing a suit and blankly looking at the camera. He wrote, “2024 is PERSONAL not business.” He also indicated his next project is called The Navy Album by sharing on his Instagram Story a post from a fan page declaring, “The Navy Album era has begun.”
In his 2022 Uproxx cover story, Ricch spoke about his biggest takeaway from the first chapter of his career, saying, “A lot of times, you may get distracted by trying to rekindle relationships with different things.
Roddy Ricch has reached a custody agreement for his 3-year-old son, whom he shares with Alexandra Kiser.
According to TMZ, Ricch will have joint custody of the kid, with his days being Tuesdays to Thursdays. Additionally, Ricch will pay $8,000 a month in child support while fronting the funds for private school tuition, medical bills, special-needs therapy, and extracurricular activities.
Roddy will also have to cover the $37,500 in Alexandra’s legal expenses and another $1,000 a month to maintain her car.
Last year, Roddy Ricch‘s custody court battle was levied by accusations of being addicted to lean.
According to The Blast, Kiser stated the rapper had stopped financially supporting her, leading to her vacating a home he had provided for her. She also stated she had no income, which is in contrast to what she states is $10 million a year for the rapper.
“Since his birth, I alone, spend 98% of the time with him while Rodrick lives his life without any regard to his parental obligation or responsibility to spend time with Kadence,” Kiser mentioned in court. “Rodrick misses important holidays with him including this past holiday season. Instead, he took friends to Dubai and the Maldives on a pleasure trip. I was hurt to find out on Christmas Eve when he came back from his trip that he hadn’t gotten or planned anything for our son for Christmas.”
Kiser also stated “The Box” rapper is gang-affiliated, cited his arrest on a gun charge, and accused him of promethazine abuse, along with domestic abuse to her.
Attorneys now state the relationship between the two is positive as they head into co-parenting.
