Rihanna Changed Her Super Bowl Halftime Show Setlist A Whopping 39 Times

I don’t know if you’ve heard but Rihanna is doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Seems like kind of a big deal, but I’m not sure. Anyway, today, Apple Music held a pre-game interview with the long-absent star, where journalist Nadeska Alexis asked her all about the upcoming performance, doing her best to get Rihanna to give away some spoilers.

And while there weren’t many — Rihanna did say the show is jam-packed and was also exhausting — Rihanna did reveal some interesting details about the preparations for the show. For instance, she says that she and her time have changed the setlist 39 times, which, considering her extensive catalog and all the hits she has to choose from and cram into a 13-minute set, is understandable.

So, here’s the thing: I was joking earlier when I said “it seems like kind of a big deal.” It really, really is. Here’s why: Rihanna hasn’t performed live since the tour for her 2016 album Anti. So, that’s about six years between performances. Needless to say, people are really excited about her music return after she took several years off to start a beauty company, start a lingerie line (that recently expanded into sportswear), and have a baby with ASAP Rocky.

But more than that, her return could presage a full run of new Rihanna content, including an album and a tour. And although Rihanna herself denies that either is in the works just because she’s performing at the Super Bowl, that isn’t stopping fans from holding out hope that 2023 becomes the year of Rihanna.

Rihanna Provides Rare Update On New Music

For years, fans have been eager for new music from Rihanna. Since the release of 2016’s Anti, there have been a number of rumors surrounding her next release. At one point, she explained that she was preparing a reggae/dancehall album, which artists like Koffee reportedly contribute to. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much of an update, and it seems Rih is rather tired of answering questions regarding this topic. She even told fans not to get their hopes up following the Super Bowl Half-Time show announcement.

With her highly-anticipated return to the stage this Sunday for the Super Bowl halftime show, the singer recently held a press conference with Apple Music 1’s Nadeska Alexis to discuss the performance. She revealed tidbits of information, like the 13-minute length of the performance and the Caribbean influence that will seep through the show. “I’m really excited to have Barbados on the Super Bowl stage,” she said. Additionally, she revealed that the birth of her son motivated her to accept the Super Bowl Half-Time Show invitation, despite being mildly hesitant to perform.

Will Rihanna Drop A New Album This Year?

Though she didn’t confirm that she’s releasing music, it appears that the pandemic allowed her creative juices to flow once again. “When you have all these boundaries… and you have to stay home, you get creative with ways to stay entertained,” she said. She added that she’s feeling “open to exploring, discovering, creating things that are new.” Ultimately, it seems as though Rihanna’s more open to pushing the boundaries musically and surprising her fan base, even if it comes from left field.

A$AP Rocky previously let the cat out of the bag during an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1. While he discussed his own release, he expressed his excitement for Rihanna’s upcoming Super Bowl show and revealed that she’s “making music again.” “Yeah, I’m super excited. This is as huge. This is incredible. I’m so glad that my lady’s back making music again and whatnot, and getting back out there,” she said. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding new music from Rihanna and her upcoming Super Bowl performance.

Rihanna Explains How Her Son Motivated Her To Do Super Bowl Half-Time Show

Whether or not you’re a fan of the NFL, the Super Bowl Half-Time Show will undoubtedly be one of the best ways to follow up the epic Dr. Dre-led performance last year. The NFL and Roc Nation tapped Rihanna for her first performance in seven years. Needless to say, fans are excited. Some feel as though this could open the doors for her new album while recent reports indicate that she might follow up the epic performance with a tour.

This morning, Rihanna appeared for a press conference with Apple Music’s Nadeska Alexis.  Though she didn’t reveal much about the performance, she confirmed that it will be 13 minutes in length. However, Rihanna admitted it was difficult to narrow down the setlist. “There are probably like 39 versions of the setlist right now,” she said. “Every little change counts.” What the setlist consists of, however, remains a surprise reserved for Sunday night’s Half-Time show. However, reports previously claimed that Jay-Z assisted in putting the show together.

Rihanna’s Son Inspired Her Decision To Perform At The Super Bowl

During her conversation with Nadeska Alexis, Rihanna also explained that motherhood motivated her to do the Half-Time show. “When you become a mom, there’s just something that happens that makes you feel like you could take on the world. You could do anything. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world,” she explained. Though it’s been seven years since her last performance, she felt there was no better time than now. “It’s important for me to do this this year, it’s important for representation. It’s important for my son.”

We clearly have Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s son to thank for her return to the limelight. The couple welcomed their first child together in May 2022 before revealing the first photo of him a few months later. Reports recently emerged stating that Rihanna’s filming the lead-up to the Super Bowl performance for a documentary. Though there isn’t much news surrounding that, we could imagine that her son will make a cameo. Rihanna hits the stage on Sunday, Feb. 12th. Will you be tuning in?

Rick Ross Invites Rod Wave To Kick It In Million-Dollar Super Bowl Skybox

In just a few days, millions of people will tune into the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles—and with Rihanna taking over the halftime show, it’s a game no one wants to miss. Of those hoping to be watching from the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona is Rod Wave. He didn’t have a bit of shame as he joked about how expensive skyboxes were for the Super Bowl.

“Man, I know one of y’all Rap n*ggas, somebody tryin’ to go to the motherf*ckin’ Super Bowl,” he said in a video. “Skybox, n*gga is $1.2 million, n*gga. I don’t f*ck with these n*ggas, but if you wanna go half…” He then laughed at the suggestion and was joined by his team, who were in the background.

DJ Akademiks reposted Rod Wave’s clip, and it earned a response from Rick Ross. It’s expected that Rozay would enjoy the Super Bowl from one of the luxury suites, and he said that’s just where he’ll be. He invited Rod to join him and his team—an invitation that we can only assume was accepted without hesitation.

“Keep ya $ come to mine,” Ross commented. “And I got @wingstop in 26 person suite, great field view – Rozayyy.”The Wing Stop jokes poured in, but even so, not everyone gets a personal invitation from the Rap mogul. It also seems that Rick Ross will have a million-dollar view of Rihanna’s halftime performance.

Rihanna’s Iconic 2018 Met Gala Look Is Being Immortalized With Madame Tussauds Wax Figure

With the 65th annual Grammy Awards officially behind us, all eyes are on Super Bowl LVII. While sports fans anticipate a cutthroat showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, music fans are more so interested in the halftime show. This year’s featured performer is none other than Oscar-nominated singer Rihanna. But before she takes the stage, Madame Tussauds New York wants to preserve a little piece of this moment in entertainment history.

Not only is the “Work” singer known for her breakout songs but the Fenty boss has also carved a line for herself in the fashion world. Ahead of the big game, Madame Tussauds has unveiled a new wax figure of Rihanna dedicated to her contributions to fashion and is dressed in her 2018 Met Gala’s ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion And The Catholic Imagination’ look designed by Margiela. The figure is on display in its Glow Gala room.

When discussing the singer’s upcoming Super Bowl performance in a statement, Joerg Hanel, Madame Tussauds New York’s general manager, said, “Rihanna is sure to make history with her upcoming live show this Sunday, so the timing is perfect for us to reveal her new figure exclusively at Madame Tussauds New York where fans can admire and pose with the icon.”

This isn’t the only Rihanna wax figure being added to their collection; Madame Tussauds Orlando has announced later this year, their figure will sport the singer’s outfit from the Super Bowl 2023.

LeBron James Fans Drake, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, And Others Congratulated Him On The NBA Scoring Record With Videos

On April 5, 1984, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored his 31,420th point in the NBA, which broke the league’s all-time scoring record previously held by Wilt Chamberlain. For decades, that record felt unbreakable, but in recent years, it became clear that LeBron James would likely eclipse the mark one day. Well, that day was yesterday (February 7): In the Los Angeles Lakers’ losing effort against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James made the record-breaking shot near the end of the third quarter and put himself atop the all-time list.

Now, the NBA icon has received congratulatory message from music stars like Drake, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar.

Various celebrities recorded videos congratulating James on his historic achievement, with Snoop saying in his, “In the words of the great Snoop Dogg: ‘La-da-da-da-da!’ It’s the one and only LBJ: LeBron James! Great work, baby. Appreciate the love. Love what you do, keep doing what you’re doing, more buckets, more points, more love.”

Drake said in his clip, seemingly filmed at James’ high school gym, “LeBron: what a legendary night in NBA history. You’re breaking the all-time scoring record, and to honor that, I had to come back to the place that it all started: Akron, Ohio. Every journey has its beginning and tonight…” As he spoke, though, the illusion was broken thanks to a green screen malfunction, revealing a club environment behind him. He continued, “I lied, I lied to you. I’m actually still at the club in Miami, but definitely all the girls say congrats, though, right girls? Congrats, right?”

In a more straightforward video, Lamar said, “To see you with this type of accomplishment, it always give a confirmation of, you can be great no matter where you come from.”

In her tribute, Rihanna said, “It is important to recognize greatness and great accomplishments. […] If course, you’re no stranger to breaking records, but this record, this is one to be more than just acknowledged: this is one to be celebrated.”

Bad Bunny didn’t record a video, but he was there in person to give LeBron a hug after the record was broken.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, John Legend wrote, “Congratulations @KingJames !!!! This man has been in the spotlight and burdened with the highest expectations since he was a teenager. And he’s done nothing but exceed those expectations and build a historic legacy. What an incredible accomplishment!”

Rihanna Reportedly Going On World Tour Following Super Bowl LVII Performance

Rihanna Billionaire 1

Super Bowl LVII is just days away. While it seems only Eagles and Kansas City fans are excited about the actual game, everybody else will be tuning in to see Rihanna perform after a nearly 7-year hiatus from music.

Reports are now circulating that Rihanna plans to go on tour following her Super Bowl halftime performance.

According to PageSix, insiders have been saying that Rihanna is planning to go on a “massive” world tour following the performance and that even some members of her team have been kept in the dark about the announcement.

“There has been a lot of talk among people in the know, especially in the last week or two, that Rihanna is gearing up to announce a tour. It seems to be more than just hearsay at this point,” one insider told the publication. Another added: “Even some members of Rihanna’s team have been kept in the dark. It’s all a big secret, from the details of her halftime show to what’s next — if anything.”

If the rumors are true, then this would mark Rihanna’s first tour since her ANTI tour which featured 75 dates and would add to an already stacked concert season with SZA and Beyoncé both recently having dropped tickets for their tours that also take place this year.

The only other question is whether or not Rih will be dropping an album before the tour.

Will Rihanna Go On Tour After The Super Bowl?

Rihanna is finally headlining the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday after months of anticipation. Given she’s the only performer this year (with the exception of if she brings surprise guests) and hasn’t released a new album in years, many fans are wondering if this will mark the start of her official return.

Last fall, RiRi appeared to be doing a slow launch, as she contributed two songs, “Lift Me Up” and “Born Again,” to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

Now, it’s also rumored that she might be heading on tour after the Super Bowl, according to a new teaser from Page Six.

“There has been a lot of talk among people in the know, especially in the last week or two, that Rihanna is gearing up to announce a tour,” one insider told the publication. “It seems to be more than just hearsay at this point.”

“Even some members of Rihanna’s team have been kept in the dark. It’s all a big secret, from the details of her halftime show to what’s next — if anything,” another said. However, Rihanna’s team and Live Nation did not return Page Six‘s request for comment.

If true, it would be the perfect time for her to announce, as the Super Bowl increases sales and streams for most performers each year. Plus, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have already gotten fans mostly situated with tickets.

Only time will tell…
