Rick Ross And Meek Mill’s Newly-Announced Joint Album Might Be ‘Too Good To Be True,’ But It’s Coming ‘ASAP’
Rick Ross and Meek Mill are teaming up for a joint album, Too Good To Be True, and it’s coming “ASAP” they told Apple Music’s Ebro Darden. According to Pitchfork, Ross said, “This just was a quick vibe. Maybe two and a half months, you know what I’m saying?” They’ve already released the first single, “Shaq & Kobe,” which you can check out above.
Meanwhile, Rick Ross has brought his Maybach Music Group imprint to a new home, according to Billboard. MMG is now partnered with Gamma, which bills itself as an artist-friendly alternative to the major label system. Founded by former Apple Music Global Creative Director Larry Jackson and veteran music executive Ike Youssef, Gamma is backed by Apple and A24, among others, and offers a suite of resources for the creation, distribution, and marketing of music and related media.
Jackson said of the partnership, “Rick Ross epitomizes the multimedia and multi-faceted content pioneer that Gamma was created to amplify. We couldn’t be happier to formalize our relationship, welcome him to the Gamma family, and propel the trajectory of an already well-established empire. We’re beyond excited for the world to experience his surprise, highly anticipated collab reunion album with Meek.”
Calling the collab album “anticipated” might be a stretch; if anything, it comes as a surprise after relations between the mentor and protege seemed strained in recent years. After Meek complained about his record contract on Twitter, some fans thought he might have friction with Rick Ross, to whose Maybach Music Group he’s been signed almost since the beginning of his career. The duo reunited on stage late last year, but hadn’t even hinted at the possibility of a joint project until earlier this week.
Meek Mill And Rick Ross’ ‘Shaq & Kobe’ Video Is The Duo’s Dominating Display Of Their Own Musical Mamba Mentality
The rap reunion most fans thought would never happen has arrived. Rappers Meek Mill and Rick Ross joined forces on their new collaborative track, “Shaq & Kobe.” The Maybach Music Group members’ rumored falling-out is water under the bridge as the two floated across the track produced by ATL Jacob.
Instead of flooding the record with tons of name flips of the late Kobe Bryant, the dynamic duo embodiment his “Mamba mentality.” Neither waste a bar on a warm-up because there’s no time. Both jump straight into their performance to display their lyrical dominance. On the chorus, they paid homage to Bryant on the record’s chorus, both rapping, “Too much money and power / Walk up in the spot and punched the stuffings, keep tuckin’ the chopper / Too much money and power / Hustle in twenty-four hours.”
Ross takes a moment in his solo verse to address his lavish living arrangements (where the buffalos roam) that caused a stir with neighbors back in March. “Ya b*tch still at home with her mind blown / I got a pool of parrots and some buffaloes / And I got a pool in Paris in a bungalow / Still flippin’ numbers talking summer sauce / Everybody get to eat, that’s what a winner called / Sippin’ champagne, I own it myself / You n****s better learn to own you some wealth,” bragged Ross.

“We won already,” Ross said. “We playing with what? The house’s money and it’s only one way to explain that or describe that. It’s too good to be true, which is the name of the project me and Meek Mill will be releasing.”
Ross revealed the album took him and Meek two and a half months to complete. Meek added, “When me and Rozay got in the studio, it was all about real energy, organic motivation. This Rozay, I’m rapping next to too. This Rozay, top five dead or alive right now. I don’t know who want to argue with that.”
In a noteworthy twist, both Meek Mill and Rick Ross underscored their commitment to prioritizing their health, signaling a new chapter in their lives. The announcement has fans eagerly awaiting their forthcoming album and celebrating the enduring influence of these rap icons in the music industry.

“I wasn’t healthy,” Meek said. I was drinking liquor every day. My stomach was bent over for a year and a half. I came home 2019, I couldn’t smoke weed or really drink liquor like that. And before 2019, I was off the lean and all that.
“I changed my lifestyle. Well I thought I changed, try to change over to the liquor every day. I’m being on tour afterparty. That kind of ruined up my stomach. So I had to sit down for a minute, let my shit build up. That was another human trial that we go through on the inside and they’re like, yo, when you dropping I’m telling my own family, yo, my stomach fucked up. Y’all, I weigh 170, bro. It’s on hit right now.”

Meek Mill And Rick Ross Will Reunite For Another Ambitious Single With ‘Shaq & Kobe’
Rappers Meek Mill and Rick Ross are considered one of the great dynamic duos. But now they’re going to honor another great pair, this one from the world of basketball. The two will reunite for another ambitious single, “Shaq & Kobe,” paying homage to the NBA Basketball Hall Of Fame inductees.
Meek uploaded the forthcoming track’s official cover art in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) page. He went on to tell fans about the inspiration behind the song.
“Kobe [Bryant] and Shaq [O’Neal]. R.I.P. to the G.O.A.T., legend, and father! I learned my motivation and ambition from you. I ain’t have a dad. I was going off y’all. Thank you. Friday [September 29],” wrote Meek.

Meek’s admiration for Bryant was shaken in 2021 when the late athlete’s widow, Vanessa, called him out for what she considered to be insensitive lyrics.
On an unreleased track with fellow rapper Lil Baby, Meek says the line, “And if I ever lack I’m going out with my chopper, it be another Kobe,” referencing Bryant’s fatal helicopter crash. Meek has since apologized to the Bryant family, and one assumes this song will remain respectful.

Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Chuck D and More team with Power to the Patients for PSA on Honest & Transparent Healthcare System
A powerhouse lineup of hip-hop legends, including Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, French Montana, and Chuck D, has teamed up with Power to the Patients to release a compelling public service announcement (PSA). Their collective voices demand transparency in the healthcare system, urging elected officials to create an equitable, affordable, and honest healthcare framework nationwide.
As Congress prepares to vote on healthcare transparency bills in Washington, D.C., these iconic artists advocate for more robust price transparency laws. They call for hospitals and insurance companies to publish actual prices for their services and procedures, a move that aims to rectify these institutions’ disregard for existing federal transparency rules.
The PSA highlights the prevalent practice of hospitals and insurers providing only “estimates” or “average prices,” which the hip-hop icons argue stifles competition and results in overcharges, debt, fear, and devastation for countless Americans. Chuck D, frontman of Public Enemy, describes the situation as “an American humanitarian crisis.”
This collective advocacy follows the persistent efforts of Power to the Patients and Grammy-nominated artist and philanthropist Fat Joe, who have engaged with lawmakers, visited The White House, and rallied on Capitol Hill. They aim to express frustration with the healthcare system and champion the rights of patients, families, communities, employees, employers, and unions nationwide.
Earlier this year, Fat Joe and Power To The Patients joined forces with New York City Council Members and various union groups, leading to Mayor Eric Adams signing the Healthcare Accountability and Consumer Protection Act in June 2023. This groundbreaking legislation established the nation’s first Office of Health Care Accountability, enabling New Yorkers to compare hospital costs for identical services.
As hip-hop celebrates its 50th anniversary, these artists confront a rigged healthcare system. They emphasize that hospitals often coerce patients into signing service contracts without revealing actual prices, resulting in widespread fear that deters millions from seeking necessary medical care, jeopardizing their health and lives.
Medical debt remains the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in America, and a recent study by Patient Rights Advocate revealed that only 36% of U.S. hospitals comply with the current Federal Price Transparency Rule.

Rick Ross Flaunts His Brand New One-Of-One Mercedes-Benz Maybach
Rick Ross is back to display all of his different fortunes once again in a recent video. HipHopDX got a hold of some footage of Rozay showing off a gorgeous new whip. Ross is known for his gargantuan car collection, as he famously held a car show earlier this year. Besides the cars, though, the rapper has his massive mansions and Wingstop locations, which is why people are going to be studying him in school. Just a few weeks ago, the Georgia State University College of Law announced that their will be a course on Ross’ business ventures.
The man behind this idea is the university’s professor Mo Ivory. The name of the class is called “The Legal Life of Rick Ross,” which is currently underway for the fall 2023 semester. It is a pretty incredible accomplishment for the “Hustlin’” rapper, especially because other billionaires, Diddy and Jay-Z, cannot even add that to their resumes. Maybe, Ross got this brand-new car to celebrate his one-of-one achievement.

Gunplay: The Man Behind The Mic
In 2012, one of the artists to pique the interest of Hip Hop aficionados was the rapper Gunplay. The rapper had just departed from his group to embark on a solo music career. By the time 2012 rolled around, rap was having a progressive year, and the genre was breaking further into the mainstream. As such, there was no better time than the present for Gunplay to debut as a solo artist.
The MC was recently involved in a controversial case and has received backlash for allegedly pointing a gun at his partner and child. He currently faces allegations related to domestic violence and more. Gunplay has faced legal troubles and backlash throughout his career. Obviously, this has overshadowed his music and professional career. As a result of this, many have understandably struggled to separate the artist from his personal issues.
Background & Musical Career Beginnings
Miami rapper Gunplay was born Richard Morales Jr. on July 18, 1979. Growing up, Morales struggled with academics and dropped out of school at the age of 15. The following year, a 16-year-old Morales started selling and using drugs. The rapper shared in an interview with Complex that during that time, he was spending a lot of money weekly on his habit.
“I was 16 years old. I used to sell coke, and one day I just tried it, and I liked it,” he said. He continued by revealing he got hooked on the drug. “I ain’t put it down since. I used to spend around $600 to $700 a week on drugs. [After my label deal], I spent thousands of dollars a week.”
Before he struggled with drug abuse, Morales developed an early interest in music. Eventually, he started rapping as a teen. Several years later, he became associated with the Carol City Cartel. The local rap group was founded by rapper and label executive Rick Ross in 2005. Morales became popularly known by his stage name, Gunplay. Likewise, he rose to prominence as a member of Carol City Cartel alongside rappers Torch and Youngbreed.
Gunplay & Triple C’s
Meanwhile, the rap group was eventually popularly referred to as “Triple C’s.”. Their introduction to the rap scene was achieved through a feature on Rick Ross’s debut album, Port of Miami. Triple C’s was featured on the track “It Ain’t a Problem.” Subsequently, in 2008, the group was featured again on the Ross track “Reppin’ My City.” The song appeared on the rapper’s sophomore studio album, Trilla.
Thereafter, Triple C’s debut album, Custom Cars & Cycles, dropped in 2009. It is the group’s sole album and achieved moderate commercial success. The album peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard 200 chart. Gunplay gained significant recognition, leading to the rapper snagging a solo deal with Def Jam in 2012.
Solo Career
Although he did not sign a solo deal until 2012, Gunplay’s debut was actually in 2009. During his Triple C’s run, he appeared as the eponymous feature on the Rick Ross song “Gunplay.” He had an impressive feature run thereafter, spanning a couple of years before and after he got signed. The MC’s first mixtape, 601 & Snort, was released in 2012 to critical acclaim. His debut studio album followed three years after that, in 2015.
The album, Living Legend, received generally positive reviews upon release for its raw and unfiltered style. In 2019, Gunplay shared a collaboration album with rapper Mozzy. Further, Gunplay is expected to appear on Self Made 4, a long-awaited and highly anticipated collaborative project from Maybach Music Group.
Personal Life & Controversies
Besides his musical endeavors, the rapper is also a father to two children. The first, a son, was born in 2004 by his ex-wife, whom he separated from in 2008. His second child is a daughter he shares with a 24-year-old Instagram model. Recently, she accused him of domestic and child abuse, among other claims. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the rapper has been accused of violence. In 2012, the Gunplay allegedly pointed a firearm at his accountant.
Additionally, and throughout his career, Gunplay has dealt with numerous legal issues and controversies. One of his most notable involves the swastika tattoo he has. The rapper has also struggled with substance abuse and has been open about his efforts to overcome addiction. His recent alleged actions, though, if true, mean that he still has quite a ways to go with his personal growth.
