J. Cole Racks Up A Massive Amount Of RIAA Certifications

J. Cole’s discography is stacked with hits. However, what is a little more impressive is that a great deal of them are more on the lyrical side. He certainly has some of the more thought-provoking tracks over the past 10 years or so. All of this hard work and talented craftsmanship has led to an ultra-successful career. What has really solidified Cole’s stature within hip-hop lore has been his incredible run over the past couple of years. 2021 saw him return after a three-year solo album hiatus. The Off-Season provided so many memorable tracks.

“9 5 . s o u t h,” “a m a r i,” “m y . l i f e,” and so many others all provide something unique to the table. Then, after that, his feature run was absolutely incredible. He teamed up with Travis Scott, BIA, Young Thug, Drake, the list goes on and on. What is criminal about all of this, is that he has not grabbed a number-one hit until this year with “First Person Shooter.” While he was appreciative of the moment, it was not solely his song. However, you can argue he made the track what it is.

Megan Thee Stallion’s RIAA Certifications Have Hotties Dissing 1501 Entertainment For Celebrating

It’s no surprise that Megan Thee Stallion’s past releases continue to rack up streams, and now, RIAA Certifications, especially considering it’s been some time since we’ve heard new music from the Houston native. Earlier this month, Carl Crawford’s 1501 Entertainment label celebrated the latest accolades achieved by their former artist. Among them are Platinum certs for “Cash S**t,” “Sex Talk,” and “Sweetest Pie” with Dua Lipa. In addition to that, Thee Stallion’s Traumazine LP has also been acknowledged as Gold by the RIAA.

While it’s nice to see 1501 congratulating the rap diva rather than furthering their beef, some of Thee Hotties couldn’t help but diss Crawford and his team in the comments. “You didn’t do nothing 😂,” one IG user wrote. “But congrats Megan,” they added. A few hours later, the label’s account wrote back, “Didn’t do nothing but invest the 💰 when no one else wanted to 🤷🏽‍♂️.”

Deal with it, it’s never leaving forever lol.” Even amid the legal drama unfolding between him and the 28-year-old, the industry executive seems confident in his ability to come out on top.

When she first returned to the public eye after Tory Lanez was found guilty in late 2022, Megan Thee Stallion made it clear that mental health was more of a priority for her than releasing new music. Lil Baby’s “It’s Only Me” Reaches Platinum Status

One of the most celebrated releases in hip-hop last year came from Lil Baby. His October album It’s Only Me was his first solo full-length project since 2020’s My Turn and its subsequent deluxe. It’s Only Me came with a whopping 23 songs and runtime over an hour. The features for the LP included Young Thug, Nardo Wick, Future, EST Gee and more. Additionally, producers like Murda Beatz, Wheezy, ATL Jacob and Tay Keith all contributed to the project. Baby provided a handful of promo singles for the album too, such as “Heyy” and “In A Minute.”

In its first week, It’s Only Me achieved staggering numbers. Fans had been dying for Baby’s return for months, and surely showed it when the project first dropped. On the Billboard Hot 100 the week following his release, Baby occupied 25% of the chart. A quarter of the songs on the Hot 100 included Lil Baby, and 21 of them were It’s Only Me songs. Baby was the youngest artists to achieve this feat. The album also ended up selling 216,000 units and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Lil Baby Goes Platinum

Now, just over four months removed from its release, It’s Only Me has reached another milestone. Typically a signifier for success, the LP reached platinum status on Sunday (Feb. 19), according to Chart Data. Selling 1 million total units in the United States, this is now Baby’s fifth album to go platinum, solo or collaborative. It first went gold in November, but unlike prior tapes Street Gossip and Too Hard, it was able to get over the platinum hump.

One main storyline for the album during its release week was the shots Baby threw at Akademiks. Rapping that Ak “know he ain’t as rich as me” on “From Now On” and “n****s think they can’t get touched” on “Top Priority,” Baby did not hold back. Akademiks took issue with this, responding with: “Lil Baby dissed me instead of Fani Willis (DA of fulton county) and his real opps.. Wat is Rap music.” Regardless of the small beef, Baby still proved to pull off a successful release. It’s Only Me going platinum is just another testament of Baby’s star power, regardless of the critics.
