Megan Thee Stallion’s RIAA Certifications Have Hotties Dissing 1501 Entertainment For Celebrating

It’s no surprise that Megan Thee Stallion’s past releases continue to rack up streams, and now, RIAA Certifications, especially considering it’s been some time since we’ve heard new music from the Houston native. Earlier this month, Carl Crawford’s 1501 Entertainment label celebrated the latest accolades achieved by their former artist. Among them are Platinum certs for “Cash S**t,” “Sex Talk,” and “Sweetest Pie” with Dua Lipa. In addition to that, Thee Stallion’s Traumazine LP has also been acknowledged as Gold by the RIAA.

While it’s nice to see 1501 congratulating the rap diva rather than furthering their beef, some of Thee Hotties couldn’t help but diss Crawford and his team in the comments. “You didn’t do nothing 😂,” one IG user wrote. “But congrats Megan,” they added. A few hours later, the label’s account wrote back, “Didn’t do nothing but invest the 💰 when no one else wanted to 🤷🏽‍♂️.”

1501 Goes Back and Forth with Megan Thee Stallion’s Fans

“I remember when you didn’t want to help her promote that last album,” another fan of Thee Stallion berated Crawford. “She still overcame.” When responding to this, he taunted them, “Ain’t nobody hating, y’all just mad it says 1501 on the credits. Deal with it, it’s never leaving forever lol.” Even amid the legal drama unfolding between him and the 28-year-old, the industry executive seems confident in his ability to come out on top.

When she first returned to the public eye after Tory Lanez was found guilty in late 2022, Megan Thee Stallion made it clear that mental health was more of a priority for her than releasing new music. Her fans have been incredibly supportive and understanding throughout all the trauma, and were ecstatic to hear that she and Cardi B and teaming up again for the first time since “WAP” on a single called “BONGOS.” Read all about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Carl Crawford Accuses Erica Banks Of Copying Megan Thee Stallion

Recently, Erica Banks accused 1501 of owing her money in a snippet of her new track. “And they owe me some money, they greedy,” she’s heard saying in the song. Carl Crawford, CEO of 1501 Certified Entertainment, quickly jumped on social media to refute her claims. “Erica not even making no money for me to take,” he said, taking shots at the rapper. He went on to explain that he believes Banks is only accusing him of being in debt to her due to his ongoing legal battle with Megan Thee Stallion over similar claims.

A new clip shared today shows the former pro baseball player further accusing Banks of making allegations simply because Meg did. “She do everything she do,” he claimed, “so she just thinks that this is another thing that she’s supposed to do.” He explained his thoughts, adding that he’s only “bashing his artists” because the accusations are costing him valuable business. “My business take a hit on some dumb sh*t,” he said.

Carl Crawford Says Erica Banks’ Claims Are Costing Him Business

Crawford’s legal battle with Megan Thee Stallion has gotten ugly in the past, with both parties throwing shade at each other various times. Crawford even went so far as to post a photo with Tory Lanez, who is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, on social media. He later issued somewhat of an apology to the rapper, calling the post a “mistake.” “I just got wrapped up in the whole scheme of things that was going on,” he explained. Crawford went on to say he’s “on nobody’s side with that.

1501 Certified Founder Carl Crawford Claims He’s ‘$500K In The Hole’ After Erica Banks Left The Label

Erica Banks may have recently left her label 1501 Certified Entertainment, but the label’s founder, former MLB player Carl Crawford, insists that he was really the victim of shady business practices, not the perpetrator. During an Instagram Live stream, Crawford argued that he’s the one who is in debt to Warner Music Group after Banks’ departure, which he blamed on her following Megan Thee Stallion’s example.

According to AllHipHop, during the stream, Crawford said, “Erica’s not even making no money for me to take… I was just as surprised as y’all [were] to hear we’re greedy and stealing money. I’m still trying to figure that one out because last I checked we’re $500,000 in the hole with Warner. That’s all I know. So who owes who money?”

He also referenced Meg, with whom 1501 has been engaged in a years-long legal battle, saying, “The only reason why the one’s doing it is because the other one did it, so if the first one hadn’t took this route, the second wouldn’t have took this route. They only follow each other.”

The first indications that Banks was also feuding with the label came with a late-June snippet of her new song “Real Rap B*tch.” In it, she raps, “Give a f*ck about that label they see me / And they owe me some money, they greedy.” The full song was released this past weekend on YouTube.

Megan Thee Stallion sued 1501 in 2020 after the label refused to release her from or renegotiate her contract and tried to block her from releasing new music. Since then, the dispute has only grown more contentious, with Meg recently accusing the label of hiding money to keep from paying her royalties.

Erica Banks is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Carl Crawford Denies Owing Erica Banks Money

A new snippet from an unreleased Erica Banks track sees the artist claiming that her label, 1501 Certified, owes her money. “And they owe me some money, they greedy,” she says in the snippet. Fans jumped on the accusation, noting the ongoing legal battle between the label and Megan Thee Stallion. Now, the head of the label has taken to social media to defend himself.

Former pro baseball player and CEO of 1501 Certified Entertainment Carl Crawford denies Banks’ accusation in a new clip. “Erica not even making no money for me to take,” he begins. Crawford goes on to claim that the only reason Banks is coming forward with the accusation is due to his ongoing drama with Megan Thee Stallion. “This is a good time to try to press the issue,” he says, “you think everybody will believe you because you know I’m going through this with Megan.”

Carl Crawford Claims Erica Banks Isn’t “Making No Money” For Him To Take

Viewers in the comments section shared their thoughts, with several believing that the two accusations can’t be purely coincidental. “He’s clearly a bad business man,” one user writes. Another says, “everyone can’t be lying. Stop the gas lighting.” Megan Thee Stallion is suing 1501 for royalties. In April, the “Body” rapper brought the financial stability of the label into question. She filed a motion that claimed 1501 allegedly had less than $10,000 in its primary account.

Beef between Crawford and Meg got pretty ugly in the past, with both parties taking shots at one another. Earlier this year, Crawford addressed their feud saying, “Unfortunately, me and Megan haven’t talked since 2019.” “We been going through what y’all seen online,” he said, “That’s unfortunate, too, because I never wanted to go have a situation where I was going back and forth with her on the internet. I never had problems with Megan Thee Stallion, but this social media stuff turned it really sour. You take this social media stuff out of it, and we won’t have a problem. You won’t hear me mention Megan Thee Stallion’s name unless it’s a big-time interview.”

Carl Crawford Talks Feeling Blindsided by Megan Thee Stallion's Roc Nation Deal

Carl Crawford may have apologized to Megan Thee Stallion, but she said that’s not enough, she wants her money too! TMZ states that Houston Hottie filed a motion against Crawford and 1501 Certified Entertainment over money owed.

Court docs state Crawford is sending all the company’s money, generated by Thee Stallion’s hits, to his own pockets to sidestep paying her. 1501’s main bank account reportedly has under $10,000 in it, not the millions that were deposited there and represented in court documents.

The suit alleges in addition to Crawford, J. Prince and Gee Roberson are getting paydays. Prince and Roberson have roles within the label.

Previously, Carl Crawford backed off of his beef with Megan Thee Stallion. Hitting TMZ, Crawford introduced Kai “Verse” Tayler as the new President of 1501 Certified Entertainment, while also revealing he wants to make amends with the Houston Hottie.

“Unfortunately, me and Megan haven’t talked since 2019,” Crawford said. “We been going through what y’all seen online. That’s unfortunate too because I never wanted to go have a situation where I was going back nad forth with her on the Internet.”

He added, “I never had problems with Megan Thee Stallion, but this social media stuff turned it really sour. You take this social media stuff out of it, and we won’t have a problem. You won’t hear me mention Megan Thee Stallion’s name unless it’s a big-time interview.”

Crawford would reveal that he wanted a fresh face to the company as the reputation had tanked. “I have to take responsibility for anything that happens in 1501.”

Crawford revealed that he always didn’t make the right decisions and is taking ownership of the issue by revamping the roster and staff.

Megan Thee Stallion Accuses 1501 Of Draining Funds

The label feud between 1501 Certified Entertainment and Megan Thee Stallion, a signee, continues escalating. Moreover, the Houston rapper recently added fuel to the fire by claiming that label boss Carl Crawford is draining the entity of their funds without properly compensating Megan. Furthermore, she filed a motion on Thursday (April 13) sending said shots and revealing that the label’s primary account allegedly has less than $10,000 left in it. In legal documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, the star brought up various red flags regarding 1501’s financial stability and their inability to properly compensate its artists.

While the exact amount that was initially deposited in said bank account was redacted, Megan Thee Stallion alleged that it was in the millions. Not only that, but J. Prince, Gee Roberson, and Crawford are the only ones getting paid according to Meg. As previously reported, the 28-year-old is suing 1501 for royalties, demanding a release from the label as well. However, this recent motion relates isn’t just a doubling down on the alleged actors’ fault. It’s also a point of concern, as Meg fears that they won’t have any money to pay her if or when courts side in her favor.

Moreover, this news is interesting given that Crawford recently welcomed the Stallion back to Houston for her first performance in months in an attempt to extend an olive branch. Still, many fans remembered his taunts and social media feuds with Megan Thee Stallion leading up to this situation. As such, many didn’t take kindly to Crawford’s message. ““We want the entire Community of Texas to help 1501 Certified Entertainment welcome Queen of the Hotties, Megan Thee Stallion, back to the City of Houston,” the statement read. In addition, it hinted at a new album and tour, and stated that the label fully supports Megan.

The month prior, Crawford somewhat apologized to her. “Unfortunately, me and Megan haven’t talked since 2019,” he stated. “We been going through what y’all seen online. That’s unfortunate, too, because I never wanted to go have a situation where I was going back and forth with her on the internet. I never had problems with Megan Thee Stallion, but this social media stuff turned it really sour. You take this social media stuff out of it, and we won’t have a problem. You won’t hear me mention Megan Thee Stallion’s name unless it’s a big-time interview.” Regardless of this spat, stick around on HNHH for the latest on Megan Thee Stallion.

Carl Crawford Vows To Stop Discussing Megan Thee Stallion On Social Media

In late December, Megan Thee Stallion saw a jury convict Tory Lanez on three felony counts stemming from her allegation that Lanez shot her in the foot in 2020. Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence (as noted by The New York Times).

Lanez is appealing the ruling and preparing for his sentencing tomorrow, February 28, but Meg has another complicated legal matter still up in the air.

Also dating back to 2020, when the Houston rapper claimed 1501 was preventing her from releasing new music, Meg has sued her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. Throughout the ongoing battle, Meg exchanged barbs online with 1501 CEO Carl Crawford. Today, February 27, Crawford commented to TMZ.

“Unfortunately, me and Megan, we haven’t talked since 2019, so we’ve been going through I guess what you guys see online, and like I said, it’s unfortunate as well because I never wanted to have a situation where I was going back and forth with her on the internet,” he said.

Crawford later added, “I never had any problems with Megan Thee Stallion. It’s just the social media stuff. It really just turned really, really sour. You take this social media part out of it, [and] we don’t have a problem. So, yeah, this is the moment for me to — I’m done with that. You won’t hear me mention Megan Thee Stallion’s name in the media unless I’m doing something like this or it’s just a big-time interview [and] I gotta say it. But you won’t see me texting or making a post or doing any of that stuff that would cause social media to go crazy.”

In late December, a Texas judge denied 1501’s request to not count Meg’s 2021 project Something For Thee Hotties as an album toward her obligations to her record deal, allowing her lawsuit to continue to a formal trial.

Megan Thee Stallion had filed in February 2022, requesting that Something For Thee Hotties be deemed an album to effectively release her from her contract with 1501. After releasing Traumazine last August, she amended her suit to specify that Traumazine could also be counted as her fourth and final record for 1501, additionally suing for $1 million in damages.
