Kid Cudi Dismisses Retiring, The Alchemist Links With Him After Joint Album Talk

Kid Cudi is really manifesting all of his wishes within the creative world, because he recently linked up with The Alchemist for a studio session. Of course, the two previously worked together about 15 years ago, but Cudi had tweeted last year how he wanted to do a full album with the legendary producer. Uncle Al responded with enthusiasm, and it looks like those wishes are coming to fruition. Moreover, fans can’t wait to hear what the two could craft together, even if they don’t make a full project. What’s more is that this excitement ramped up thanks to the Cleveland creative walking back his retirement announcement from last year.

Furthermore, Kid Cudi expressed as such during an interview with Zane Lowe discussing his new album INSANO, his creative path, and so much more. “I was kind of out of it,” he remarked concerning his commitment to hanging it up. “I was just in this place where I was thinking about my future. It just didn’t seem like there was really an appetite for my music in the ways that it used to be.

Kid Cudi & The Alchemist Cooking Up In The Studio

“I finally got through that whole retirement thing because I talked to my friend Brian,” Kid Cudi went on. “The world knows him as KAWS. He was like, ‘Hey man, I don’t mean to get in your business, but I think that you should rethink this retirement thing. I think you could be around for a long time.’ And to see Brian come to me real, like -– and he’s never approached me about my music or talked to me about my music ever before -– it hit me in a different way. And literally after that message, I was like, s**t man, he’s right. I’m just getting warm.

Meanwhile, elsewhere during this conversation, the two briefly touched down on his beef with Lupe Fiasco. Given the Chicago rapper’s response to all this, it seems unlikely that this rift will heal anytime soon, which is unfortunate for fans of both. Regardless, it’s still exciting to see where Mr. Rager will go from here, and how he continues to become happier, healthier, and more at peace throughout his endeavors. Stick around on HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Kid Cudi and The Alchemist.

Sam Mewis, USWNT Star, Retires

Sam Mewis, a decade-long fixture of the US Women’s National Soccer Team, has announced her retirement from professional football at 31. “Unfortunately, my knee can no longer tolerate the impact that elite soccer requires. Though this isn’t what I wanted, this is the only path forward for me. I want to thank everyone who has been on my team throughout this journey. Soccer has put so many wonderful things in my life, but the most wonderful thing has been the people. To all my family, friends, teammates, and fans, I truly feel that we did this together and I’m extremely grateful,” Mewis wrote in a statement.

Nicknamed the “Tower of Power”, Mewis earned 83 caps for the US and scored 24 goals. That included a brace against Thailand at the 2019 World Cup during a match the US won 13-0. At the club level, Mewis won three NWSL titles (one with the defunct Western New York Flash and two with the North Carolina Courage). She also won a Women’s FA Cup in England with Manchester City. Furthermore, Mewis’ next move has already been announced. Soon after her retirement announcement, she was unveiled as the editor-in-chief for women’s soccer at the Men In Blazers media network.

Sam Mewis Latest USWNT Star To Retire

However, Mewis is just the latest big-name USWNT star to retire over the last 12 months. Ali Krieger was able to go out on top, winning a NWSL title with Gotham FC to end her career in 2023. Krieger made over 100 appearances for the national team between 2008 and 2019.

Also hanging up her boots in 2023 was Megan Rapinoe. Rapinoe announced that she would be retiring at the end of the 2023 season on July 8. “It is with a deep sense of peace & gratitude that I have decided this will be my final season playing this beautiful game. I never could have imagined the ways in which soccer would shape & change my life forever, but by the look on this little girl’s face, she knew all along,” she wrote on Twitter. That means the upcoming World Cup will be her last. Furthermore, Rapinoe’s final game will occur sometime in October or November, based on how well the Reign performs this season. The team entered as the defending NWSL Shield holders. The Reign would finish runners-up to Krieger and Gotham.

Jason Kelce Addresses Retirement Reports

Jason Kelce used the latest episode of his New Heights podcast to clarify reports that he is retiring from the NFL. “I just don’t think you’re in a position after a game like that to really make that decision. There’s too much emotion in the moment. There’s too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision. It’s just something that I think, when it’s time to officially announce what’s happening in the future, it’ll be done in a way that’s definitive and pays respect to a lot of people and individuals that have meant a lot to me and what has led to the career I’ve had,” Kelce told his brother.

After Kelce’s Eagles were dumped out of the playoffs by the Buccaneers, reports emerged that Kelce had told his teammates he would be retiring. Kelce is 36 and has played in Philly since the Eagles drafted him in 2011. Kelce, a six-time All-Pro center, is widely seen as a future Hall of Famer. The four other six-time All-Pro centers are all Hall of Famers. Kelce returned to the Eagles for 2023 on a one-year contract, which officially expires in March.

Who Is Jason Kelce?

Kelce has been the Eagles’ starting center since they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2011 Draft. However, he began his football career as a walk-on running back at the University of Cincinnati. Later, he would transition to the offensive line during his redshirted freshman year. After starting 38 games for the Bearcats, he was seen as a fourth-round or later prospect due to a lack of size.

However, he has become an era-defining center for Philadelphia. He has appeared in, and started, 193 games for the Eagles, protecting everyone from Micheal Vick to Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts. Overall, Kelce has been the battery mate of eight starting QBs for the Eagles. Additionally, he has made two Super Bowls, including a win at Super Bowl LII. Kelce’s retirement becomes yet another storyline for NFL fans to follow during the offseason.

Nick Saban Says Retirement Had Nothing To Do With NIL

Nick Saban has denied speculation that his retirement was due to the evolving world of compensation for college athletes. “Don’t make it about that. It’s not about that. To me, if you choose to coach, you don’t need to be complaining about all that stuff. You need to adjust to it and adapt to it and do the best you can under the circumstances and not complain about it,” Saban told ESPN. While Saban had previously expressed doubts about NIL, namely that is could create a “pay to play” system, he also acknowledged that it was the future of college athletes.

However, that didn’t stop people pointing the finger of blame at the system for Saban’s departure. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, a vocal opponent of NIL, openly suggested that Saban had retired due to NIL rules in a tweet reacting to the news. As for Saban’s replacement, frontrunner Dan Lanning also already announced that he intends to stay and see out his contract with Oregon.

Nick Saban Retires

First reported by ESPN, Saban announced his retirement on January 10. Saban hung up his headset after 17 seasons with the Crimson Tide. Saban led Alabama to six national titles and finished the 2023 season with a Rose Bowl loss to eventual champions Michigan. Saban’s coaching journey began all the way back in 1973 as a graduate assistant at Kent State. His first head coaching role was at Toledo in 1990. He would hold the same position at Michigan State, LSU, and the Miami Dolphins before coming to Alabama in 2007. He immediately turned around an ailing program, turning them into them into the powerhouse they are today.

Saban, who turned 72 last October, has previously been coy about retirement. I’ve always said that if you’re thinking about retirement, you’re probably already retired, and I’m not there yet,” Saban told ESPN in November. Saban, who is yet to confirm his retirement, ends his career with a record of 292-71-1 in 28 total seasons as a college head coach. He has seven National championships, 12 conference titles, and 19 bowl game victories. Alabama are expected to remain a title contender in 2024.

Chaka Khan Speaks On Retirement, Shades “B***hes” Who Do It “Three Or Four Times”

Chaka Khan recently gave Rolling Stone a lengthy and illuminating interview centered around her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Moreover, she obviously has an indelible legacy in music, art, and culture, and a lot to reflect on as her trajectory continues forward in life. The funk legend still performs and is active in the music space, although she definitely considerers an exit every now and then. However, when asked whether she’d ever retire in this new conversation, she gave a surprisingly shady answer that might target other singers in her immediate genre or era circle. Either that, or it’s a comical jab at current artists “fake retiring” these days instead of older acts stretching out their relevance.

“Well, I might do that three or four times, like other b***hes do,” Chaka Khan responded to the question of whether she’ll ever fully give up performing. She explained that she doesn’t want to tour anymore but will keep doing shows, as she wants to shift gears to spending time with her grandchildren and other personal matters. Still, the Chicago native didn’t have to blast other artist to relay this info. Previously, she had dissed Mariah Carey, Adele, and Mary J. Blige for their talents.

Chaka Khan’s Shady Thoughts On Retirement

“Recently, I [talked] about a list of the ‘greatest singers of all time,’” Chaka Khan expressed in her apology for these remarks on Instagram. “Instead of questioning the need for such a list, I was pitted against other artists and I took the bait. As artists, we are unfairly put into ‘boxes’, ‘categories’ or on ‘lists.’ Being an artist or musician is not a competition. It’s a gift, for which I am truly grateful. It was not my intention to cause pain or upset anyone. To anyone that felt this way, I sincerely apologize.”

Meanwhile, another apology of sorts came when the 70-year-old spoke of her bond with fellow Chicago artist, Kanye West. She took issue with his sample of her song on “Through The Wire,” but during this interview, she called it a “silly grudge.” We’ll see what other hot takes and perspectives Chaka Khan comes through with about the music industry. Lil Uzi Vert Reiterates Musical Retirement, Announces Pivot To Fashion Design

Lil Uzi Vert has reiterated their plan to retire from music after Luv Is Rage 3. Speaking with TMZ, Uzi said that they still love making music but have lost their love for the craft itself. However, Uzi did not that their retirement would not be official until they released Luv Is Rage 3 and filmed a video for “Everybody”, their collab with Nicki Minaj on Pink Friday 2.

Furthermore, Uzi revealed that they plan to pivot from music to fashion design, speaking excitedly about their grand plans for a women’s clothing line. While Uzi didn’t reveal too much, they did note that construction is underway for the clothing company’s office.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Team Eager To Stop Retirement

However, Uzi’s team is very keen for the rapper not to retire. Their original retirement announcement was met with fierce opposition from their own camp. “Uzi, please don’t retire! Love, your Generation Now family. Love, your Diop Agency family,” read a billboard in Philadelphia’s Fashion District. Despite this, Uzi has had their heart set on retirement for most of this year. “No, relax. It’s okay. After Luv Is Rage 3, I guess I will go on another tour for Luv Is Rage 3. But after that, I wanna try to live a normal life,” Uzi told a concert in Chicago in November.

Meanwhile, Uzi has been leaving music in style. At a November show, they embraced their inner Rod Wave, jumping off a balcony into the crowd below. Uzi had been standing on the ledge in front of the VIP section, getting the crowd hyped. A couple of times, they leaned back and let the VIPs keep them upright. Then, Uzi carefully hopped over the balcony and jumped about five or six feet into the section below, briefly disappearing before bouncing back up and presumably heading for the stage. Of course, Wave has gotten a fair amount of backlash for the stunt. Many fans have accused him of “glorifying suicide” through it. However, Wave’s continued performance of the balcony jump shows how he feels about that line of thinking.

DeSean Jackson Says “F*ck The NFL” While Discussing His Post-Retirement Plans

DeSean Jackson may have made $91 million during his NFL career, but the recently retired veteran is far from done making stacks. “The hustler I am, I ain’t satisfied with the money I made in the NFL. I would meet you today, and you wouldn’t even think I made 100 plus million in NFL. Because guess what? That money right there, that’s going to make my future be cool for my kids. But right now, I still need bread, so I’m out here getting all type of stuff, going private equity, real estate. Sh-t, f-ck the NFL. That sh-t was cool, but what’s next? I’m trying to go touch some Magic Johnson-type sh-t,” Jackson told the No Jumper podcast.

Jackson recently signed a one-day contract with the Eagles to retire with the team. Jackson spent seven seasons in Philly, who drafted him in the second round of the 2008 Draft. Jackson’s career also saw him play in Washington, LA, Las Vegas, and Baltimore. However, Philly was the only place where he played more than two seasons.

Tyreek Hill Reveals His Post-Retirement Plan

However, Jackson isn’t the only one who intends on getting busy with non-football things after he retires. Earlier this year, Tyreek Hill revealed what he plans to do after he hangs up his cleats. “When I retire, bro, I really wanna be a porn star, bro. Like, dead serious,” Hill told Buccs wideout Mike Evans during a September livestream.

Hill has made no secret about his intentions to leave the league after the 2025 season. The star wideout will be 32 following Super Bowl 60 in February 2026, which will mark the end of the 2025 season. “I’m going for 10, man. I’m gonna finish out this contract with the Dolphins and then I’m gonna call it quits. I want to go into the business side. I want to do so many things in my life, bro,” Hill said in a radio interview earlier this year. Hill is putting up record numbers in his second year with the Dolphins. After proclaiming that he wants to be the first 2000-yard receiver in NFL history, he appears well on his way to that goal. Through 12 games, Hill already has 1481 yards and 12 touchdowns. That means he needs 519 yards across the Fins’ final five games to crack 2000. If he can maintain his pace of 123.4 yards a game, he will finish the season with around 2100 yards.

Daddy Yankee Dedicates His Life To Christianity Amid Retirement From Music

Earlier this week, Daddy Yankee brought his farewell tour to Puerto Rico, announcing that as he retires from music he plans to dedicate his life to Christianity. He shared a clip from his performance on Instagram along with a lengthy message about the transition, calling it the beginning of a new chapter.

“Family: This day for me, is the most important day in my life,” he began. “Tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one. He continued, also quoting the New Testament. “For what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, if he loses his life?” he wrote. “Or how much can a man pay for his life? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father and with his angels, and then he will reward each one according to what he has done.”

“Just like Jesus, with his mercy, allowed me to travel the world, in your mercy, Father, I hope you allow me to evangelize the world from Puerto Rico,” he added. Juicy J Promises 7 Albums Next Year, Seemingly Hints At Retirement

Juicy J has revealed that he plans to release seven albums in 2024. “I got about 7 albums I’m dropping 2024 I never worked this hard in my life,” the iconic rapper and producer wrote on X, formerly Twitter. However, he also lowkey hinted that he would be retiring after such a packed release schedule. “After this I’m gonna buy a house on the beach let my hair grow all the way out & become a full time hippie [trophy emoji] ya dig?” his post continued.

While Juicy released the mixtape Mental Trillness earlier this year, he hasn’t dropped a full album since 2020. The Hustle Continues peaked at #68 on the Billboard Album 200, a major jump from 2017’s Rubba Band Business, which barely charted at #191. However, few of Juicy’s solo projects have made much of a chart impact. His best solo project by far was 2013’s Stay Trippy. That peaked at #4 while also topping the US Rap album chart.

Juicy J Expresses Concern About The State Of Rap

Juicy’s plan to release seven albums next year comes after he expressed concern about the state of the music industry. Last month, Juicy proposed drastic measures to combat a decline in rap sales. “I don’t a lot of people don’t want to hear this, but rap music is down 40%. Check the charts. Check the math. What are we, as rappers, producers, composers, going to do about this shit. Because it’s down 40% this year. Do your research. This is a fact,” Juicy noted.

His solution was to host a roundtable of rap’s brightest minds. “Let’s have a conversation. What are we gonna do? We gotta figure some shit out. We gotta sit down and talk. Let’s have a meeting, let’s meet up somewhere and have a big ass f-cking meeting. Let’s talk about this sh-t, how we can turn this sh-t around. Because this is how we eat. This is how we make money,” he suggested. However, the industry will have to wait until next year to see if Juicy’s mammoth release schedule can help fix the problem he perceives in the business.
