Famous Dex Celebrates 11 Months of Sobriety

Famous Dex has reached a major health milestone. Dex has captivated audiences for years. Moreover, his skill as an artist was evident right out of the gate. Indeed, Dex’s debut album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200. Dex Meets Dexter featured such standouts as “Pick it Up” and “Japan.” However, despite his talent, Dex’s career has been hampered by substance abuse issues. The rapper has been open about his struggles with addiction over the years. Subsequently, several rehab attempts failed. His latest stint in rehab was last September. It followed a jail sentence for violating a protective order his girlfriend got against him.

TMZ Hip Hop recently caught up with Dex at LAX. Initially, the reporter credited Dex on his appearance compared to the last time the pair saw each other. Dex responded to the compliment with a major update on his health. “I’m not doing drugs no more,” the rapper confidently stated. “I’ve been drug clean for 11 months.” Addiction can take a toll on both the body and the mind. However, Dex’s improvement in health has clearly done wonders for him mentally. During the interview, Dex removed his sunglasses to reveal his eyes. “I’m happy and I’m healthy,” he said.

Famous Dex Shares Inspiring Words For Those Struggling With Addiction

Moreover, Dex’s recovery can be seen as an inspiration to anyone struggling with the same issues. Subsequently, Dex had a message for anyone thinking about giving up. “Keep God first, and don’t forget where you come from.” he said. “We might give up, but God don’t.” The rapper’s final piece of advice was simply to “stay humble.” Meanwhile, these are also exciting times for the Chicago native in terms of music. Dex recently took to Instagram to announce he had signed a new $5.6 million dollar deal with 300 records. The rapper had already been signed to the label before. However, the new deal is possibly the result of renegotiations.

Elsewhere, Dex teamed up with Rich the Kid and Jay Critch on the single “Where’s Dexter” earlier this year. It appears that Dex may finally be putting his issues behind him. Moreover, his fans will be hoping the rapper can stay healthy so he can put out more bangers in the future.

Justin Bieber Recovers From Facial Paralysis

At the beginning of the month, Justin Bieber had to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour, and all future events, including his U.S. tour in 2024. The reason for it being that he was still diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. He had tried to fight through the facial paralysis for the tour. Bieber had been infected with the syndrome in June of last year. He was currently on tour, so Bieber paused it for almost two months to recover, before canceling the tour. He must have accepted that he was never going to be able to recover from it. In September, he tweeted about the experience. “I performed six live shows, but it took a real toll on me.”

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, also known as herpes zoster oticus, is a complication of shingles. The name comes from the neurologist who first described it, back in 1907, James Ramsay Hunt. It is caused by the virus reactivating at the facial nerve. On top of facial paralysis, it could also cause a rash and several other problems. Treatment for the syndrome includes antiviral medication, steroids to reduce inflammation of the nerve, and pain relievers. Only about 70% of people are able to fully or almost fully recover from the syndrome.

Justin Bieber Recovers

On Wednesday, Bieber posted on Instagram a video of his improvement. It has a caption of “Wait for it” with Bieber looking around. Eventually, he smiled with his full face for us for the first time in a year. It is amazing that Justin Bieber was able to fully recover from the paralysis. There was a chance that he would have been permanently paralyzed, especially with how bad it must have been for it to have taken almost a full year for his recovery.

Hopefully, now that his face is recovered again, Bieber will be able to un-cancel some of those shows for his U.S. tour and maybe even make some new songs from the experience. Despite the pain he was in, Bieber was able to have a religious experience from it. He had talked about it in June. Regardless of what he does, it will probably be done with caution so he does not injure himself again.

Lil Tjay Reveals PTSD Struggles

Lil Tjay recently opened up about his struggles with PTSD, presumably after he suffered seven gunshot wounds in an attempted New Jersey robbery. Moreover, the trauma and difficulty he faced seems to continue to affect his life today. Recently, the rapper posted a message on Twitter referring to unspecified struggles he’s going through. Furthermore, he expressed that post-traumatic stress disorder hit him hard and causes concern for his well-being. While such a harrowing situation is hard to imagine, hopefully letting those emotions out will help him in the long run.

“I be feeling like I’m gonna die but I ain’t trynna go,” the 21-year-old stated. “That’s y I be steady going thru what I go thru I got ptsd.” Also, the Bronx native might refer to his recent string of arrests in this Twitter message. While he was on his way to shoot a video with Ice Spice, police pulled him over in a traffic stop. Reportedly, officers found a handgun in his vehicle and arrested him, though he exited on a $90,000 bond days later. Less than two weeks following that incident, authorities once again arrested Tjay on gun charges. However, his lawyer explained that said arrest came from a misunderstanding concerning the first.

“He was excused from appearing in court last Friday by the arraignment judge,” attorney Dawn Florio elaborated to AllHipHop. “Another judge revoked his bond and put him back in jail for missing court on Friday even though he was told by the first judge that he did not have [to] appear.” After his family paid for release, he now awaits his trial, set for Tuesday (February 14). Moreover, the “F.N” MC suffered a coma for five days after last year’s armed robbery and required emergency surgery due to a bullet in his neck. Later, he spoke to Rolling Stone of how that experience affected him.

“I got airlifted into the sky at 2:22, and it was June 22, 2022,” he expressed. “When I searched those numbers, it was like ‘God’s giving you the opportunity to change.’ I questioned God before that, I don’t anymore. I know God’s real, a billion percent. I’m not on no tough-guy s**t, or on some angel s**t. I feel like a miracle kid, I feel like my purpose is bigger than I know. I’m just trying to figure out what life got in store for me. I know that I’m destined to win.” Hopefully he’s in better spirits, and stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on Lil Tjay.

The “Run It Up” rapper recently returned to the state of New Jersey for a performance.

On Friday (December 30), the 21-year-old took to his Instagram account to share some photos of himself on stage. In the last photo, he’s performing while shirtless. There are noticeably several gunshot wounds on the front of his body. “BACK IN JERSEY,” he writes in the post’s caption, along with a couple of hand emojis making a heart shape.

His first music release following the incident came in the form of “Beat the Odds.” The single finds the Bronx native addressing the difficulties of recovering from his injuries. Furthermore, the video shows him writing and recording the song while recovering in a hospital bed.

In November, the Bronx native dropped another single, “Give What You Want.” The track is a soulful performance and continues his streak as one of the most diverse artists in the game right now.

The alleged suspect was arrested for attempted murder and armed robbery the same day of the shooting. Mohamed Konate is reportedly responsible for shooting Tjay and two others while sitting in a car outside of a Chipotle restaurant.

While it’s difficult to see his wounds, it’s certainly good to see that the 21-year-old has recovered enough to be on stage again.
