Nicki Minaj Delivers Heat In “Red Ruby Da Sleeze”: Stream

The Queen is back with her first track of 2023. Nicki Minaj just dropped “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” Friday (March 3), marking her first single since “Super Freaky Girls.” Her 2022 release earned the Trinidadian rapper her first Hot 100 No. 1 as a solo artist. “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” which effortlessly pulls in a sample from “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)” by Lumidee, continues to prove the 40-year-old’s reign as a dominating lyricist.

Just a week ago, Minaj touched down in her home country in celebration of the 2023 Trinidad and Tobago Carnival (if you haven’t seen her epic costume this year, be sure to check it out). The trip marked the rapper’s first return since her 2020 performance at the Carnival, and she wasn’t shy of showing her IG followers what a great time she was having.

Minaj Drops A New Track And Revives “Queen Radio” All In One Day

While partying it up with the festivities, she previewed “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” on her Instagram. The impromptu announcement of the song took place while Minaj was repping iconic two-toned pink buns, and showed her at a party rapping to the lyrics. “Only on them C’s if it’s breeze / Red Ruby Da Sleeze, Chinese on my sleeve / These wannabe Chun-Li’s, anyway (Nǐ Hǎo),” she raps. Defending her throne, she adds in “who the fuck told bitches they was me now? / I knew these bitches was slow, I ain’t know these bitches senile.”

Minaj also dropped incredible news for Barbz last month, announcing the return of her Apple Music show, Queen Radio. While posing in a gorgeous pinstripe bikini (likely from her trip to the Caribbean), she took to Instagram to disclose that the release date of the revival would also be Friday (March 3). Gracing listeners with both a fire new track and the continuation of Queen Radio, Minaj has shown that she’s not done adding to her legacy yet. Nicki Minaj Announces New Single “Red Rudy Da Sleeze”

It’s been five years since the release of Nicki Minaj’s last studio album, Queen. Though Nicki earned the hiatus, which allowed her to welcome her first son, fans have been on the edge of their seats for new single. The rapper came through with a handful of singles in 2022, like “Do We Have A Problem” ft. Lil Baby and “We Go Up” ft Fivio Foreign. Additionally, she dished out several collaborations including FIFA World Cup’s Fan Festival anthem “Tukoh Taka” alongside Maluma and Myriam Fares. And throughout the releases, fans continued to anticipate the announcement of her next studio album.

We haven’t received many updates recently but there have been a few promising signs that Nicki will be making a comeback soon. During her recent visit to Trinidad for Carnival, she announced that Queen Radio would return in the near future. Typically, Nicki uses the platform to update her fans, talk sh*t, and address everything that’s on her mind. She confirmed that her radio show would be back on March 3rd but that’s not all she has in store.

Nicki Minaj Announces New Single During Carnival

On Wednesday night, Nicki hit the ‘Gram where she shared a new snippet of music while confirming that a new single is on the way. While surrounded by a group of women, Nicki previewed her new single, seemingly titled, “Red Rudy Da Sleeze.” The song, which samples Lumidee’s “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh),” is expected to drop on March 3rd, the same day as Queen Radio returns to the air. It seems like Nicki could be aiming to release her forthcoming album this summer.

The announcement of the new single comes shortly after Nicki delivered her first verse of the year. On Friday, Nicki unveiled her remix of Machel Montana and Destra’s “Shake The Place,” which she later performed in Trinidad. Just before that, Epic Records A&R Vice President Fly Ty hinted that he and Nicki Minaj were working on something big. Though it’s unclear what they have in store, it seems as though “Red Rudy Da Sleaze” will kick off the campaign for the next chapter in Nicki’s career.

Nicki Minaj Poses In Bikini To Announce Return Of Queen Radio

Queen’s royalty Nicki Minaj is having a time in Trinidad since landing there for Carnival a few days ago. The Barbz leader reportedly performed for the festivities, her first time gracing the stage there since her 2020 appearance. Following the release of her first feature of 2023 on “Shake The Place (Remix),” Mrs. Petty hopped on Instagram to update fans on her return. “We’ll talk soon, barbz. Promise. Love you,” she captioned the post with an accompanying unicorn emoji.

Now it appears fans will be hearing from the rap legend herself next week. Today, Minaj uploaded a photo of herself and a caption mentioning her Apple Music show, Queen Radio, with a date. “#QueenRadio 3/3 @3pm PST,” it reads. “Bad gyal don’t die die die | Hunnit rounds on that gratata.” Additionally, the Trini lyricist is steady giving viewers glimpses of Carnival in her home country. Yesterday (Feb. 21), Nicki posted photos and videos from the fete, where she donned a custom-made, purple and pink costume.

Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio Is Back This March

Recently, EPIC Records A&R Vice President Fly Ty made an announcement of his own about the Queen. In a since-expired Instagram Story, the exec revealed he’d spoken to Nicki Minaj about major plans in the works. “Just got off the phone with my sister… This move is about to be so big for Queens,” he wrote. “We[‘re] bringing it back to the drawing board!!!! Call Webb, then call Nitty | Queens n***as and its all hoodies.” While there’s no word on what exactly to expect, fans are hoping this all results in an album this year. It’s been five years since Nicki dropped Queen, her fourth and latest studio release.

In other news, the self-proclaimed “Super Freaky Girl” continues to receive praise from other female musicians when it comes to her longevity in the game. Last month, Ice Spice admitted to bumping Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint album, calling it a “given” on her playlists. Even singer Lil Mo celebrated the worldwide star during her recent debacle with rapper Latto. “Imma be real honest, “ Mo began. “You can’t compare a Latto to a Nicki, ’cause Nicki been in the game. So when [Minaj] say, ‘All these b*tches is my sons,’ people like, ‘Oh, she throwin’ shots.’ No! Because before her, she bows at Lauryn Hill.”

Megan Thee Stallion Spars With Barbz After They Accuse Her Of Telling Nicki Minaj To Get An Abortion

If there’s anything you can count on, it’s that Nicki Minaj’s most enthusiastic fans — aka the Barbz — will try to start beef with any and every other female rapper she gives them a reason to — even if she never actually names that artist. During a recent episode of her podcast, Queen Radio, Nicki alleged that an unnamed artist with whom she’d previously collaborated offered her a drink, and when she declined because she might be pregnant, told her she could “go to the clinic.”

Of course, the Barbz didn’t take this well, because, for many of them, innuendo is fact, shade is absolute, Nicki’s word is law, and every day is a new opportunity to pick a fight with Nicki’s contemporaries on her behalf. For some reason, one, in particular, decided that Nicki’s anecdote referred to Megan Thee Stallion, who did work with Nicki in 2019 on the song “Hot Girl Summer” and has been known to occasionally encourage her friends to take a shot directly out of the bottle. Megan, however, wasn’t having it.

“Nicki Minaj is accusing you of encouraging abortion & child endangerment w/ alcohol,” wrote the stan. “This isn’t something to stay quiet on.” Meg shot back with just one word: “LIE.” Unfortunately, this opened the door for more Barbz to lash out at Megan. “No names were mentioned but u were first to respond?” wrote one. “So this person didn’t mention me?” Meg replied. “THIS PERSON BE SO FCKN FOR REAL RIGHT NOW” responded another Barb. “This person … as in the person who pressed the @ button” Meg explained. “y’all not this crazy.”

That might be… optimistic on her part. Barbz have shown repeatedly and often, that they don’t need logic or reason to fly off the handle (sometimes, I think Nicki Minaj’s fan club is really just a hate club for everyone else). Meg has often blamed a lot of the friction that exists between female rappers on their fans, but if we’re being honest, there is one fan base behind most of it and they’re often proud of themselves for being this way.

Nicki Minaj Might Have Dissed Latto During ‘Queen Radio’ After Latto Said That Female Rap Is Now Thriving

One thing that has become clear over the last few years is that when Nicki Minaj hosts her infamous Queen Radio show, someone will more than likely be dissed. The latest target appears to be Latto, as the “Super Freaky Girl” artist seemed to have some choice words that could be for her in the wake of her assertion that female rap is more balanced than it has ever been.

In a clip posted to Twitter on Friday (September 9), a fan screen recorded a 40-second snippet of Nicki Minaj’s recent radio show saying “A lot of other people come in one day, and the next day you’re trying to categorize yourself with people who have been f*cking working and putting their blood, sweat, and tears into this sh*t for 15 and 20 motherf*cking years. And then that album comes out and you can clearly see you haven’t built up a loyal fanbase yet who actually likes your f*cking music. And then what they start doing is they start digging the hole deeper for themselves.”

Though the Queen artist did not say a name, many believe this was pointed at the “Big Energy” rapper. In a follow-up tweet, the same fan shared a clip of Latto’s interview with Hollywood Unlocked from March where she says “Look how many female rappers is thriving right now, versus it being Nicki and everybody else.” Notably, her gesture when mentioning Nicki Minaj indicated she was above everyone else, and the subsequent gesture showed a more level playing field in reference to today’s female rap landscape.

While it appears Latto had no malice toward Minaj, it is not rare for the “Barbie Tingz” artist to take offense to statements that weren’t intended to be offensive. Latto has not made any comments in retort, but their fanbases have been going at it on Twitter ever since the initial clip dropped, with some referencing Nicki targeting Lil Kim in the early days of her career.
