“Pink Friday 2” Features: Doja Cat Seemingly Shut Down Chance To Appear On Nicki Minaj’s New Album

When Nicki Minaj announced her Pink Friday 2 album, we knew it would be difficult for her to top its predecessor. On the original project, the Queen of Rap made her mark on the industry thanks to songs like “Fly” with Rihanna, “Moment 4 Life” with Drake, and “Check It Out” with will.i.am. Much to hip-hop head’s pleasure, she picked an impressive roster of collaborators for PF2, though Minaj revealed on Queen Radio earlier this weekend that she was surprised by a fellow femcee who turned down an opportunity to appear on this weekend’s project.

“I don’t wanna laugh,” the mother of one began. “They said that it was a lot of different things, but you know, I didn’t realize, they said that they don’t think I like them,” Minaj told listeners without officially naming names. “After everything The Barbz…” she trolled off as the live chat began flooding with speculation that she’s talking about Doja Cat. Elsewhere, the Trinidadian left a comment furthering the rumours.

Nicki Minaj Spills Tea with The Barbz Following Pink Friday 2‘s Arrival

“She passed on it,” Minaj told a curious fan. “She said she don’t think I like her 😩🤣. I guess our record-breaking #1 wasn’t proof. The Barbz went hard,” she continued to spill tea, seemingly referring to her guest appearance on Doja’s “Say So (Remix)” in 2019. Even if she didn’t nab another track with the Planet Her hitmaker, we do hear from J. Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, and a handful of other lyricists on PF2, making the wait well worth it.

As first impressions of the long-awaited Pink Friday 2 continue to pour in on social media, the project’s first week sales impressions are looking promising. As of right now, Nicki Minaj’s LP is expected to land atop the album chart, even without a guest appearance from Doja Cat. Is Nicki Minaj’s ‘Queen Radio’ Canceled Due To Amp’s End?

On Wednesday, Amazon announced the end of its live streaming audio service Amp. According to Bloomberg, the service was launched in May 2022 as a competitor for chat apps like Clubhouse and Twitter’s Spaces feature (both of which have also since shut down), while CNBC reports the decision was made in the wake of a “sweeping review” of Amazon’s expenses by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. Per Business Insider, Amp had failed to meet internal goals for months.

Is Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio Canceled Due To Amp’s End?

Amp, which operated a bit like its competitors but allowed users to play licensed music and take “callers” while on the air, thus encouraging a “radio show” style format, had hip-hop stars like Big Boi, Joe Budden, Nicki Minaj, and Pusha T as part of its launch and their shows and events were expected to draw plenty of users. However, that is clearly not how it turned out. As an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement, “We’ve made the difficult decision to close Amp. We learned a lot about how live music communities interact in the process, which we are bringing to bear as we build new fan experiences at scale in Amazon Music.”

As far as what happens to those shows now that Amp is shuttering, that remains to be seen. Amazon Music currently hosts its own exclusive podcasts, so it’s possible that it’ll fold shows like Queen Radio into its existing lineup and simply stream them from that platform instead. Like Spotify, which also shuttered its own Clubhouse clone earlier this year, Amazon has been increasing its focus on traditional podcasts, so if the Amp shows can be suitably revamped to fit the format, it’s entirely possible that Queen Radio will return in some form before long.

“Queen Radio”: Nicki Minaj Hits The Studio With NY Rappers, Dances Salaciously For The Camera

Nicki Minaj has kept booked and busy for the past few weeks, from hosting and performing at the annual MTV Video Music Awards to putting final touches on her highly anticipated Pink Friday 2 album. During the former event, the 40-year-old’s long-standing beef with Cardi B rose to new heights, and both women’s husbands even got involved. Now, Kenneth Petty is sitting through several months of house arrest for threatening Offset.

Despite the family drama, Minaj isn’t letting herself get down over the situation. Instead, she brought a huge group of New York rappers with her to record the latest episode of Queen Radio. While some (including DJ Akademiks) were quick to label them as goons, it’s since been made clear that the men are simply up-and-coming rappers who the “Barbie Dreams” hitmaker offered an invitation to join her for the night.

As per usual, Minaj’s energy was on 100 as she played some of her favourite music and grooved along to dancehall tracks. She even included some twerking in her choreography, though it appears the black-haired beauty may need to hit the studio for some refreshers before her next tour.

The Trinidadian promised that she plans to head out on the road again shortly after Pink Friday 2 hits DSPs later this fall. Seeing as it’s been some time since we’ve seen her travelling across the country to perform, we’re looking forward to what she has in store next.

As shown in the video above, the mother of one was clearly feeling herself while turning up in the studio this weekend. Still, not everyone has been leaving flattering comments beneath viral videos taken from her stream, especially not fans of her No. 1 opp. Whose upcoming album are you more excited to hear, Nicki Minaj or Cardi B? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Nicki Minaj Announces New Queen Radio In Video With Kenneth Petty

Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to announce a new edition of her Queen Radio series. She made the announcement with a video she recorded of herself and husband Kenneth Petty. She’s rocking a no-makeup look and lip-syncing to some music with the actual announcement coming in the caption. “#QueenRADIO in NEW YORK tmrw @ 4pm est 😉🤪😝😎 WHO POPPIN OUT?!?!!!!! #HeavyOnIt” it reads.

Kenneth Petty appearing in the video is likely no coincidence. He’s had an ongoing beef with Offset that many fans have viewed as a proxy beef between Nicki and Cardi themselves. After Petty made public threats against Offset, he was re-sentenced to house arrest. Nicki Minaj reacted to the announcement with a cryptic tweet, while Cardi B took a much more direct approach in her response. “EXACTLY KEEP ME AND MY MANS OUT YALL F*CKING MOUTH!!!” the “I Like It” singer said in a new tweet. Check out Nicki’s Queen Radio announcement video and the fan reaction to it below.

Kenneth Petty Joins Nicki Minaj For Queen Radio Announcement

Recently Nicki Minaj took on double duty at the MTV Video Music Awards. For the second year in a row she played the role of both host and performer. This time she was solely responsible for hosting duties which made for plenty of memorable moments. She also took the stage for a performance of her newest single paying tribute to rap music for the genre’s 50th anniversary.

Later this year, Nicki Minaj is expected to treat fans to her first new album in 5 years. Pink Friday 2, a sequel to her 2010 classic will be her first new album since 2018’s Queen. She’s already teased the project with a few new single, most recently the heartfelt “Last Time I Saw You.” Subsequently, Nicki took to Instagram to share the project’s eventual album cover with fans. Nicki Minaj Praises Foxy Brown On “Queen Radio”

Recently, Nicki Minaj shared her appreciation for rapper Foxy Brown on her Apple Music show, Queen Radio. “Listen to me real f***ing quick,” she begins, “it’s not a b*tch walking planet f***ing earth that is f***ing with Foxy Brown.” She pauses before going on to rap lyrics from Brown’s 2001 Broken Silence track “730.” Nicki then scoffs in disbelief at the mere thought.

This wasn’t the first time Nicki sung the praises of Foxy Brown. In November of last year, she discussed the influence the rapper has had on her with City Girls’ JT for i-D. When she was asked which artists had the most influence on her, she immediately responded “Foxy Brown.” She continued, “I still probably at times sound similar to her. I would listen to this woman non-stop.” She went on to cite their shared Trinidadian descent. “Finding out she was from Trinidad was so freaking amazing to me,” Nicki explained, “because I never imagined that a rapper could be from my country.” She continued to compliment the rapper, saying “She’s so precise with her delivery, and so clear. And I really love clarity in raps.”

Foxy Brown’s Influence On Nicki Minaj

Back in 2017, Nicki praised Foxy Brown again in an Instagram post for her influence’s birthday. “I may have never even started rapping if it wasn’t for her,” she captioned a photo of the rapper, “KING FOX.” Nicki continued to praise her, saying, “Her flow & delivery is still unmatched. You can’t listen to me w/o hearing her influence. She’s still the only thing I compete w/when it comes to precision of flow, delivery & execution.”

Though Nicki claimed she only competes with Foxy Brown, it appears as though some Cardi B fans disagree. Last week, it was revealed that one of Cardi’s superfans allegedly started a recent petition to get Nicki kicked out of Hidden Hills. The petition targeted Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, and his sex offender status. Additional posts by the Twitter user reference plans to “end” Nicki Minaj “from the inside out.”

Nicki Minaj Reacts To Missing Titanic Submarine: “In My Prayers”

Nicki Minaj discussed the missing submarine that failed to return from an expedition to the wreckage of the Titanic on her latest Queen Radio show. In doing so, she remarked that she is keeping the crew members in her prayers.

“No one should be hopping they ass on a submarine talking ’bout they going down to the Titanic,” she said, as noted by Uproxx. She added: “I’m keeping all five passengers in my prayers and wishing all the best to search and rescue teams. I just hope everyone stays safe.”

The U.S. Coast Guard Begins Search For Missing Vessel

A US Coast Guard vessel sits in port in Boston Harbor across from the US Coast Guard Station Boston in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 19, 2023. A submersible vessel used to take tourists to see the wreckage of the Titanic in the North Atlantic has gone missing, triggering a search-and-rescue operation, the US Coast Guard said on June 19, 2023. It was not immediately known how many people are on the vessel, operated by a company called OceanGate Expeditions. “Yes, we’re searching for it,” said an official from the US Coast Guard Rescue Coordination Center in Boston. It’s not technically the first time that Minaj has commented on the situation. She also addressed it in a since-deleted tweet. “Praying they make it back to their families,” she said in the post. “This is so scary and should not be allowed. Like wtf? I just assumed they were marine biologists…finding out this was a ‘tourist’ ‘Titanic’ thing??????”

The coast guard has said that the submarine lost contact with its support ship just one hour and 45 minutes into the journey below. It reportedly entered the water with 96 hours’ worth of oxygen available.

Nicki Minaj’s Initial Tweet

The latest update on the situation is that the Department of Homeland Security’s National Operations Center says a Canadian aircraft detected “banging” in 30-minute intervals coming from the area where the crew disappeared. As of noon on Wednesday, those inside the vessel reportedly have less than 20 hours of oxygen left.

Nicki Minaj And Ice Spice’s ‘Barbie World’ Sample Usage Isn’t ‘Cheesy’ Or ‘Gimmicky,’ According To Minaj

Using samples by today’s hip-hop stars is a hotly contested topic on social media. Some feel it’s being overdone. It seems Nicki Minaj slightly agrees. During the rapper’s latest Queen Radio show, she discussed the topic and more.

During her appearance, Minaj provided listeners with more details about her upcoming appearance on the Barbie: The Movie soundtrack. She guaranteed fans will be impressed by producer Riot’s reimagined twist on Aqua’s “Barbie Girl.” The sample will be featured on Ice Spice’s “Barbie World,” in which Minaj is featured.

Buzzing Pop shared the quote from the musician on Twitter. “This is the first time that someone had put this sample in a way that didn’t make me uncomfortable or gimmicky. I figured out that it needed to be a beat that would still give Barbie & Nicki,” wrote Minaj.

Minaj has seen a great deal of success with samples throughout her career. Her song “Super Freaky Girl,” which features a sample of the late Rick James’ 1981 song “Super Freak,” earned her her first solo No. 1 on the music charts. Another one of Nicki Minaj’s biggest hits, “Anaconda,” released in 2014, sampled the 1992 song “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot.

Nicki Minaj And Yung Miami Are In A War Of Words Over ‘Gay Slang’ And Diddy Got Dragged Into It

On Wednesday, May 24, Yung Miami teased an upcoming episode of her Revolt talk show, Caresha Please, with Summer Walker, due to air tomorrow, May 25. Alas, that episode will likely not live up to Nicki Minaj’s reaction to the teaser.

“*Hits Diddy to advise him that a young lady on a show that appears on his network seems to have ‘borrowed’ a very popular #QueenRadio catch phrase* Puff, who representing u these days chile?” Minaj tweeted in response to Miami’s trailer. “I got my sh*t drafted in my HEAD B!CH @YungMiami305 talkin bout u got into some thangssss. Um chile, anyways, so…”

“Nicki @NICKIMINAJ what’s really the problem??? cause I definitely didn’t get that from you LOL,” Yung Miami promptly responded. “‘let’s get into some thing Chile’ actually is a gay slang Lmaooooo.”

That tweet was followed by another from Miami aimed at everyone following along: “Y’all b*tches stfu and get tf out my mentions with that dumb sh*t tf.” Nobody can claim that she’s not a clear communicator.

Meanwhile, Minaj fired back at Miami’s defense with, “Caresha now you know damn well [six cry-laughing emojis] ‘gay slang is the first go-to nowadays. Let’s discuss it on #QueenRadio chile. If not, I’m hittin Puff right now. You know he used to manage me right? Now it’s my man my man my man [cry-laughing emoji] Puff what up? Hit my line chi @Diddy.”

Minaj also posted a Twitter poll with the message, “Talkin bout ‘gay slang’ caresha please! Let’s ask the gays ms B*tch!!!! @YungMiami305.”

Miami said she’s “ready when you are Ms. b*tch” to join Minaj on her Queen Radio, to which Minaj said, “*stops typewriter* *Looks at the first legal draft* *rips it up* *Hears puff desperately calling my line* *Doesn’t answer* *gets my questions ready for Ms Caresha*”

Diddy hasn’t tweet a peep so far, but Miami spoke for him across two more tweets: “Yeah I’m On my way to his house im Finna call you when I get there. Desperately??? It’s never giving that Nicki [four cry-laughing emojis] let’s be fr.”

As context , Diddy recently updated the world on his and Miami’s fluctuating relationship status after they appeared at the 2023 Met Gala together earlier this month. “We’re dating, and we’re just enjoying ourselves,” he told Vogue.

Way back in February 2022, Miami said in an interview with The Morning Hustle that any beef — perceived or real — between City Girls and Minaj had been “let go.” Guess not!

Nicki Minaj Allegedly Blasts AMP Over NBA Youngboy’s Show In Leaked Audio

Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining shows right now. Though Nicki isn’t on the air on a daily or even weekly basis, she continues to use the platform to speak her mind. As a result, the Amazon AMP show remains a major success as fans await to hear Nicki chime in on topics, whether music related or otherwise. AMP, in fact, gained some significant momentum by tapping Nicki, who previously partnered with Apple to debut her show.

Unfortunately, it seems as though Nicki harbors some resentment toward the company as they haven’t provided her equity. There’s no doubt that she opened the doors for other artists to get their own shows on the platform, which she feels is worthy of giving her a bigger bag. In alleged leaked audio that surfaced, Nicki forgot her microphone was still on when she aired out her frustrations towards the company while mentioning her “WTF” collaborator.

What Did Nicki Minaj Say About NBA Youngboy?

Though Nicki didn’t have any issues with NBA Youngboy’s radio show, she explained that she deserved some equity in AMP for bringing artists on board. “Now they’re getting other artists, like NBA Youngboy, all this stuff because of me. Didn’t give me equity in it, didn’t give me shit,” a voice that sounds like Nicki says. “All I said was, ‘Hey, you guys, now that I see what it is and now that I realized you used me –,” the recording continues until someone screams “Hey” and tells her that the microphone is still on. “Hello? Fuck!” she says.

At this point, Nicki hasn’t issued any statements regarding the alleged snippet but the release comes at an interesting time. This morning, NBA Youngboy and Nicki Minaj released their third collaboration together, “WTF.” The two previous connected on Mike Will Made It’s “What That Speed Bout” before later teaming up on NBA Youngboy’s “I Admit” off of Ma I Got A Family. We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio. Check out the alleged leaked audio above. Does Nicki deserve equity in AMP? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nicki Minaj Shared The Roster (But Not The Name) Of Her Brand New Record Label

Nicki Minaj had herself a weekend. Friday, March 3, brought fans “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” her first single since her No. 1 smash “Super Freaky Girl.” Saturday, March 4, she manifested a full-circle moment by surprisingly joining Lil Wayne’s set at Rolling Loud California. (She was the first-ever woman rapper to headline last year’s Rolling Loud New York.)

Minaj perhaps unintentionally buried the lede, she also made a major announcement on the Friday episode of her Queen Radio.

“Well, I have a record label now,” Minaj confirmed on the latest episode (as noted by Complex). The diamond-certified rapper didn’t reveal the name of her record label yet, but Patty Lauren (aka Patty Duke) has been tapped as the A&R.

Complex additionally relayed that the roster includes Nana Fofie, London Hill, Rico Danna, and Tate Kobang.

Per Billboard, Minaj credited Republic co-president Wendy Goldstein with pushing her to create her own label — “I don’t want no little itty-bitty ting ting; I want to do it right”— and clarified that her artists will be diverse (“Don’t think my label is just rap or Black or anything”).

Fofie’s since-expired Instagram Story showed her and the rest of Minaj’s new roster toasting “to better days,” and Kobang also posted a celebratory Instagram. See the posts below.
