NBA YoungBoy Shares Post For His Incarcerated Father

NBA YoungBoy addressed his incarcerated father in a post on his Instagram Story, earlier this week. His dad was sentenced to 55 years in prison when YoungBoy was just 8 years old for, as The Fader puts it, a “robbery gone wrong.” After that, he moved in with his maternal grandmother.

“No matter if I see you in the right way or the wrong way again my n***a, I’m gone be smiling,” YoungBoy captioned a photo of his father. “I went thru this experience on my own you built that one bitch I’m trying [to] tell you. I’m on top of the love, Jeff.”

YoungBoy previously discussed his upbringing with Billboard for an extensive profile, earlier this year. At the time, he revealed that his grandmother passed away in 2010, at which he point he moved into a group home. He explained that he was bullied by the other kids there.

“The other boys would put their hands on me, and I would look up like, ‘Why are you hitting me, bro? What’d I do?’” he recalled to the outlet. “It made me discover another side of me that I never glorified or liked. I found out how to be the person that you don’t want to do that with. [Before then], I never understood all the evilness or wrong because I was showered by so much love from this one person.”

NBA YoungBoy’s Message For His Father

In other NBA YoungBoy news, the rapper’s mother recently paid a visit to his home in Utah amid his continued house arrest. The trip comes after she spoke about his upbringing in a recent interview shared by No Jumper. “No, he’s really one of my best children,” she said of YoungBoy. “Because he cares about other people. Ever since he been little, he do stuff for his sisters and brothers. When he first got his little money, his sister was 16, he was like 14. He bought her a car… bought her a little Chrysler… but it was about $3,000 or $4,000. He always took care of his sister and his little brother, he always do for his friends. If he go to the store, he gon’ bring them back something, like candy. He help the neighbors…”

Kodak Black Released On $250K Bond After Turning Himself In

Recently, reports emerged that Kodak Black turned himself in to authorities concerning another arrest warrant. For those unaware, these stem from his failure to comply with mandatory drug testing in connection to a July 2022 arrest for drug trafficking. Since then, the Florida rapper has been hard at work on his music while also trying to reckon with the terms of his release. After another instance of him violating these conditions, he went to prison on Monday (June 26) to seemingly address it. However, apparently this all went quite smoothly for Yak- and even wound up being in his favor.

Now, Kodak Black is free from prison on a $250K bond, though that amount has an asterisk attached. According to TMZ reports, he stopped at a Florida jail on Monday to renegotiate the stringent terms of his release in court. After all, these mandatory drug tests and pretrial meetings have apparently been weighing heavily on the 26-year-old. Moreover, his lawyer Bradford Cohen expressed that he wanted to get rid of these restrictions, and the judge in his case actually agreed. Still, the court increased his bond from what he originally paid, $75K, to $250K.

Furthermore, this is the reason why Kodak Black went through another jail booking and took another mugshot at the Broward County jail. Nevertheless, he was reportedly in and out of prison in about an hour and paid the $175K difference to complete his new bond. Ultimately, reports indicate that Cohen is quite happy for his client and sees this as a win. Yak will no longer have to adhere to pretrial and release terms as he travels and tours around the world.

Yak Addresses His Release On Social Media

Meanwhile, the Pompano Beach MC’s recent Instagram Live, where he sat shirtless in a dark room, concerned fans. Many attributed his erratic nature to substance use, although that gossip is purely speculative. Regardless, at least it seems like the Pistolz & Pearlz artist will be able to dodge some of these issues moving forward. How the rest of his case proceeds remains to be seen. On that note, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Kodak Black.

“Free Young Thug” Projected Onto NYC Supreme Court Building

Fans are calling for the release of Young Thug. Recently “FREE YOUNG THUG” was projected onto the New York State Supreme Court building, along with the artwork for his new album. Young Thug released the album, Business Is Business, yesterday from behind bars.

The rapper was arrested last year for RICO charges. Fans are loving his new album, which features scathing bars about snitching. On the track “Jonesboro,” Young Thug raps, “N***as told and he was my homie, I can’t miss him, Ain’t nobody feel him.” Many listeners speculated that the lyrics could be tied to Gunna allegedly snitching on the YSL founder. Whether or not Young Thug is calling out Gunna remains unconfirmed, as many believe that Young Thug wrote the song prior to his arrest.

Other listeners suspected that he could be dissing Saweetie on a track from the album, titled “Want Me Dead.” “My n***a ain’t even tryna hit sweetie,” he raps on the song. He later responded with a Tweet that reads, “Her name is Saweetie. I said sweetie. #BusinessIsBusiness.” Earlier this week, Wack 100 also shared an alleged leaked phone call where Young Thug asks Lil Baby to respond to Gunna apparently dissing him on his single “bread & butter.” Gunna has denied claims that he dissed Lil Baby on the track. Dolly White, Young Thug’s sister, later responded to the phone call. She claimed that it was generated using AI, however, tensions continued to rise amongst the rappers.

Gunna recently appeared to unfollow Lil Baby on Instagram, as well as Lil Durk. Durk previously called Gunna a “rat,” further claiming, “if you a rat, I f*cking hate you. Because I love Thug.” This week, a clip from Lil Baby’s upcoming music video circulated, where appears to address Gunna. “Some n***as taking pleas at trial I know that slime ain’t happy,” he raps in the snippet.

No Savage Receives Three-Year Prison Sentence For Mall Shooting

DC MC No Savage just received a three-year prison sentence for firing a gun in a Virginia mall, AllHipHop reports. Moreover, Steve Descano (Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney) announced the decision on Friday (June 23). In addition, authorities sentenced him to ten years of probation and barred him from going to the Tysons Corner Center mall. Earlier this year, the 23-year-old (real name Noah Settles) pleaded guilty to three counts of malicious discharge of a firearm in an occupied building and one count of using a firearm in felony commission. Before this decision, Settles faced up to 43 years in prison.

“Today, the justice system has shown that perpetrators of gun violence will be held accountable for their actions,” attorney Descano expressed via a statement, speaking on the dangers of No Savage’s actions. “Firing a gun into a public space is a serious crime, one that endangered our community members and threatened their future sense of safety. In cases like these, it is the prosecutor’s job to ensure accountability and use the tools at our disposal to prevent this sort of dangerous incident from happening again.”

No Savage Sentenced To Three Years In Jail, His Attorneys Respond

Still, prosecutors in the case wanted the DMV native to serve a much harsher sentence as a result. While they sought 15 years of prison time for Settles, the judge in this case decided to issue the mandatory minimum sentence. For those unaware, this incident first came up almost exactly a year ago to the day in June of 2022, when authorities named No Savage as a suspect in a Tysons Corner Center shooting. Furthermore, he opened fire inside the commercial hub and, fortunately, no one was hit. However, three individuals sustained injuries as a result of the evacuation of the premises.

Meanwhile, his legal troubles haven’t put a complete stop to the 23-year-old’s music career. As early as December of last year, he released new material, namely the song “Portfolio,” on streaming services. Now he faced a large speed bump in that regard, and thus the future of his career is uncertain despite the sentence’s short duration in comparison to what sources initially reported. Regardless, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on No Savage.

Fetty Wap’s Baby Mama Reflects On Taking Daughter On Prison Visit To See Him

Fetty Wap’s six-year prison sentence was a big shock to much of the hip-hop community, as he will remain in prison until at least 2028. For those unaware, the New Jersey MC received a five-year prison sentence on drug charges related to a smuggling operation in New York. While many fans lamented this development, no one in his life feels the brunt of this incarceration more than his immediate family. Moreover, his baby mama, actress and entrepreneur Masika Kalysha, spoke with The Neighborhood Talk about the arrest and their handling of it. Specifically, she reflected on the possibility of their young daughter accompanying her to visit him in prison, which she’s still hesitant about.

“You know, it is still taking a lot to get used to,” Masika Kalysha remarked concerning Fetty Wap. “It’s the new norm, which I’m not ready to accept that. You know, and it’s just… my daughter, she’s seven. So it really affects her. But we’re working with it, we’re working together, they communicate very often. We’re just trying to figure out the healthiest way to manage this until he comes home.”

Furthermore, the interviewer asked Kalysha whether she thought of taking their daughter to jail to see him in person in that environment. “Only a hundred times,” the actress replied. “You know, it’s a big difference from taking your daughter to sold-out arenas to see her dad than taking her to an institution like that. But, you know, at the end of the day, that’s still her dad. So we’re gonna make it work, and he’ll be home soon. And y’all make sure to keep streaming his music so I can get my check,” she concluded with a laugh after agreeing that as long as their daughter’s happy with the outcome, she’ll fulfill her wishes when it comes to Fetty Wap.

Meanwhile, even when looking to after he’s released, the 32-year-old faced intense post-prison conditions in court. For example, authorities barred him from seeking parole until he completes five years of his sentence. In addition, he must fully disclose all financial dealings, including new activity at institutions such as account creation, and submit a DNA test to his parole officer upon release. Who Is Taxstone? The Podcaster Sentenced To 35 Years In Prison

The world of hip-hop media is vast these days, especially compared to when podcasting began to take off. Platforms like Drink Champs and The Joe Budden Podcast remain authoritative platforms that provide insightful commentary on the industry. However, Taxstone played a pivotal role in developing the current climate of hip-hop media. The 37-year-old’s charisma, honesty, and sometimes callousness turned Tax Season into one of the most refreshing podcasts in hip-hop when it debuted eight years ago.

Unfortunately, his career in podcasting was cut short in 2017. On May 25th, 2016, a lethal shootout broke out at Irving Plaza in New York City during a T.I. concert that left Ronald “Banga” McPhatter dead. In January 2017, Taxstone was arrested and charged with the murder of McPhatter, who worked as Troy Ave’s bodyguard. Following the contentious trial in early 2023 that included testimony from Troy Ave, a New York State Supreme Court jury found him guilty of weapon possession charges, assault, and manslaughter for McPhatter’s death.

A judge handed down a 35-year sentence on June 20th, 2023. In response to his sentence, Taxstone shared a message on Twitter. He wrote, “Just got 35 years for being victimized and reversing the situation the beauty in it all is .. I’m not doing 35,” he wrote before signing off with his catchphrase, “Be safe tho.” For those that aren’t aware of Taxstone, we’re breaking down his career and legacy.

A native of East New York, Brooklyn, Taxstone was born Daryl Campbell on August 14th, 1985. His beginnings, however, weren’t entirely typical of the average upbringing in the Brooklyn neighborhood. He was affiliated with the Bloods (which he has since denounced) in his younger years, even though he was academically gifted. His mother exposed him to the entertainment industry at a young age. He became a child actor that served as an extra on shows like Law & Order, New York Undercover, and Die Hard 3. Unfortunately, when these extracurricular gigs didn’t pan out, Taxstone found himself getting into trouble. Eventually, he was sentenced to jail time before his release in 2012.

Following his stint in jail, Taxstone came home revitalized with a new plan. He grew a massive following on Twitter, thanks to his hilarious takes on pop culture and hip-hop. He met people like Kid Fury and began appearing on The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz. Fury, who also had a podcast on Loud Speakers Network, then recommended Taxstone to Combat Jack and Chris Morrow, who would later give him his own show. His podcast, Tax Season, debuted on March 18, 2015.

“I always knew how to talk, I was always witty and I just knew that I could make money from being myself. So when I met Kid Fury, he was telling me, ‘Yo man, you should get a podcast!’ I was considering it because I was seeing the money he was raking in off the live shows, and I was like, ‘I need to be part of this! I know how to talk!’” He told Bevel. “So I met Charlamagne [Tha God], then did Brilliant Idiots with Charlamagne, and then he just pushed it forward like, ‘Yo, we gotta get you a podcast!’ It just worked out since then.”

The beauty of Tax Season is that it provided a breath of fresh air compared to other hip-hop podcasts. Taxstone’s curated talent for his show was based on his personal preferences rather than pressure from labels. Ultimately, this led to classic moments with people like Meek Mill and Kodak Black, who both appeared on his show.

Undoubtedly, he could’ve been miles ahead of the game if he wasn’t incarcerated. The podcast also gave him an incredible opportunity to showcase his A&R skills. He was ahead of the curve when it came to new New York artists, such as Desiigner and Bobby Shmurda. In fact, he played a pivotal role in bringing the Milly Rock to public cognizance.

Irving Plaza Shooting

The podcast personality was found guilty of shooting and killing Ronald “Banga” McPhatter” on March 23rd, 2023. Upon his 2017 arrest, he was charged with person with felony convictions in possession of a firearm and transporting and receiving a firearm and held in custody until trial. U.S. Attorney Hagen Scotten claimed Taxstone was responsible for being the one who “shot the fatal shot” that killed McPhatter.

Troy Ave was expected to take the stage at the concert when a fight broke out in the VIP section. Eventually, tensions escalated to the point of gunfire. Three people were injured, including Troy Ave, who suffered gunshot wounds to the leg. The rapper explained that he got into a tussle with Taxstone over the firearm. Troy Ave claimed self-defense in the matter. Police later discovered the weapon with Taxstone’s DNA allegedly found on the semi-automatic weapon. Regardless of these claims, Taxstone insisted that he was the one who was attacked and acted in self-defense.

Taxstone Found Guilty

On June 20th, 2023, Taxstone was sentenced to 35 years in prison after he was found guilty of four counts. These include one count of manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B felony, two counts of assault in the First Degree, a class B felony, one count of assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony, and two counts of criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony.

Per Shawn Setaro, Taxstone dished out defiant final words targeted toward Troy Ave’s testimony on the stand. “Half the stuff that was told on the stand by Troy Ave is a complete lie to protect himself from going to jail,” he said. Still, the judge claimed that it was clear that Taxstone was “obviously” engaged in “the procurement of a false testimony.”

Despite the sentence, Taxstone said he doesn’t plan to be behind bars for three and a half decades. After berating the Manhattan district attorney, Christine Kennan, who he described as Troy Ave’s co-defendant, he stated that he was the one who was attacked. “How can you testify in open court that you and your friend decided to beat me up then beat me up and I protected myself and u claim self defense ???” he wrote. “Don’t worry my appeal will be swift.”

Taxstone Reacts To Prison Sentence: “I’m Not Doing 35”

Taxstone reacted to his 35-year prison sentence on Twitter, Tuesday, remarking that he doesn’t plan on serving the full length. Judge Abraham Clott handed down the sentence in court earlier in the day, following Taxstone’s conviction of manslaughter for the 2016 shooting of Troy Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter.

“Just got 35 years for being victimized and reversing the situation,” Taxstone wrote. “The beauty in it all is, I’m not doing 35. Be safe though.” When a user wrote to him, “You earned it, now wear it!!!!!! Be safe beloved see ya in 2050,” Taxstone fired back: “Let’s make a bet.”

Taxstone Reacts To Getting 35 Years

The shooting occurred at New York City’s Irving Plaza during a T.I. concert at which Troy Ave was set to perform. At one point, a fight broke out between Taxstone and Troy Ave. In addition to shooting and killing McPhatter, Taxstone also wounded Troy Ave as well as two others. Taxstone ended up getting charged with manslaughter in the first degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

In defending himself, Taxstone blamed Troy Ave for instigating the altercation. He argued that he only pulled out a gun because he already felt threatened by the rapper and was concerned for his own safety. Ahead of Troy Ave’s testimony in the case, Taxstone labeled him a “delusional lying ass bozo.”

Taxstone Fires Back

At the time of Taxstone’s conviction, Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement: “Daryl Campbell was convicted of killing a man and shooting three others during a tragic and deadly confrontation in a packed New York City music venue. In addition to seriously injuring his rival and killing his rival’s bodyguard, Mr. Campbell shot innocent bystanders and put hundreds of other lives at risk. We will vigorously prosecute anyone who commits this type of deadly violence.” Be on the lookout for more updates regarding Taxstone’s case in the coming days.

R. Kelly Accuses Prison Of Neglecting His Medical Needs: “I’m Scared For My Life”

It appears that R Kelly is dealing with some serious medical issues but the prison’s medical staff is allegedly neglecting his needs. Initially reported by HipHopDX, a leaked phone call obtained by RapHouseTV emerged this morning of R Kelly expressing his concerns about medical attention surfaced online. In the call, Kelly claims that he’s made numerous complaints about his health without any doctors actually checking on him in any capacity. The R&B singer previously underwent surgery on his Achilles for blood clots. However, it’s unclear if that’s why he’s sought medical attention.

“I don’t deserve to die because somebody miscommunicated or somebody took a guess at what’s going on with my leg. I’m not supposed to die this way. You’re not even supposed to take a chance on that,” Kelly allegedly says in the audio clip. Afterward, he explained that, under any other circumstance, someone would’ve already tried to rush him to get checked by a doctor and at the very least, receive an X-Ray or some sort of test.

R Kelly Fears For His Life

Kelly explained that he needed to voice his concerns due to the apparent risks of his condition. “Because if it was your child, if it was your father, if it was your mother, somebody you loved, you would’ve said, ‘Go to the doctor. We need to get that checked out, we need to look at that. We need to X-ray that,” he explained. “They didn’t even X-ray. And that’s why I’m speaking out on this, because I’m scared for my life in that area. And who wouldn’t be. They treat animals better than that.”

R Kelly is currently behind bars after he was convicted of sex trafficking. His attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, previously called out the health care of the facility where Kelly was incarcerated. She explained to ABC7 that this was an issue that all of the individuals incarcerated at MCC face. “Every prison deserves medical attention, medical care. The MCC is required to address these things in a competent fashion,” Bonjean said.

03 Greedo Thanks Fans For Keeping Him Rich During Jail Stint

Earlier this year 03 Greedo was released from prison after facing drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm charges. He didn’t waste any time getting back into the studio to record new tracks and back on the road playing shows for fans. In a recent video shared on Instagram by DJ Akademiks, Greedo thanked fans for their continued support. The video’s caption reads “03 Greedo thanks his fans for keeping him rich while he was in jail.” That description is no joke as he literally ends his speech mentioning directly that he appreciates fans keeping him rich throughout his sentence.

03 Greedo has had an incredibly busy 2023 for someone who began the year incarcerated. Shortly after the news broke that he would be released from prison, he surprise dropped his Free 03 mixtape. The project had features from KenTheMan, Drakeo The Ruler, and more. He followed that up in March with an absolutely massive new album called Halfway There. The 33-track, 100-minute project proved just how little time Greedo wasted getting back to making music. The tracklist has a ton of features from Maxo Kream, Ty Dolla $ign, Rich The Kid, Babyface Ray, and more.

03 Greedo’s Message To Supporters

In addition to his two projects, 03 Greedo has also popped up with guest spots on a number of other artist’s singles. He also tried to repair some burned bridges with other artists, in particular with J. Cole. Way back in 2018, Greedo said in an interview that J. Cole was “trash.” In a tweet he made he retracted the criticism and admitted that he was wrong all along.

Greedo was also part of a conversation about whether or not rap has an upper age limit. On the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast he made the argument that if rappers hit 40 without making it, they should stop. While the hosts disagreed with that notion, it sparked a conversation online about the genres upper ceiling. What do you think of 03 Greedo’s message to his fans? Let us know in the comment section below.
