The Kid LAROI Expands Upon His Debut With “THE FIRST TIME (DELUXE VERSION)”

The Kid LAROI made a massive comeback late last year by finally giving his eager fanbase his debut album THE FIRST TIME. The project saw the Aussie dip his toes into multiple genres such as pop, R&B, hip-hop, in addition to more singer/songwriter types of cuts. Even though there are 20 tracks on the original project, the 20-something superstar wanted to give back to those who were patiently awaiting his grand return. So, The Kid LAROI is here with the deluxe version of THE FIRST TIME.

The “STAY” artist announced that this was going to be a thing just several days after its release on social media. However, a drop date was still up in the air. LAROI would lead things off with “HEAVEN” back in late January, “HATRED” with Lil Yachty in April, and the ode to 2000s pop/R&B with “GIRLS” in late June. With this DELUXE VERSION, the singer, rapper, and songwriter has five other tracks to offer. One pf them is a sequel to “NIGHTS LIKE THIS”, one of the most replayed tracks from the inaugural set.

Lil Tecca Gives Us A Double Dose Of What’s Ahead For “Plan A” With “Number 2 / Never Last”

When it comes to fair number of hip-hop heads, lyricism makes or breaks a talented artist. But sometimes, being able to write catchy choruses, create addicting melodies, and have an ear-grabbing voice is more than enough. That is why Lil Tecca has been on an impressive run over the last year. After taking some time off after We Love You Tecca, the Queens, New York MC came back with a vengeance on TEC.

Tracks like “HVN ON EARTH,” “500lbs,” and “Down With Me,” have reignited some hype around the melodic crooner. He has been able to keep that momentum up in 2024 with the singles “Down With Me,” “Never Last,” and “Number 2,” all of which are a part of new project coming soon. Lil Tecca announced that Plan A would be dropping sometime later this summer and all of these songs have been building it up to be something special. The latter of two were just released earlier today, and both see the 21-year-old in tip-top shape.

Listen To “Number 2 / Never Last” By Lil Tecca

Honestly, it has hard to pick which song is better, because Tecca rides both beats to perfection. Like “Down With Me,” Tecca is continuing themes about relationships and side pieces on each single. “Number 2” is about dealing with the latter and them wanting to be his main. Subsequently, “Never Last” flows perfectly after right down to the transition in between, as Tecca sees how replaceable his love interests are. The sequencing of these cuts would suggest that they will be placed right next to each other on the tracklist, which has yet to be revealed.

What are your thoughts on these brand-new singles “Never Last / Number 2” by Lil Tecca? Which track are you enjoying more right now and why? Does this get you excited for his upcoming album Plan A, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Lil Tecca. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Quotable Lyrics From “Number 2”:

Bring that s*** together, I could be the glue, I could be the tool (I could be)
Now you tryna run the show, tryna be my main, but you number two, yeah, woah
Every time they went and tried or somethin’, it’s a man down, man down, man down
Better not bring your lil’ h* around, ’cause she fanned out, fanned out, fanned out
I don’t know where I would be today if I never went and took a chance now
But I know I had it planned out, still goin’, we not even here now

Yasiin Bey Faces Criticism Online Following Fashion Week Performance

Earlier this month Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, found himself at the center of some online debate. That came after he claimed that the music Drake makes isn’t hip-hop anymore, it’s pop. “Drake is pop to me. In the sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston, and I heard a Drake song. It feels like a lot of his music is compatible with… shopping. Or, as you know, shopping with an edge in certain instances,” the rap legend said during a podcast appearance. The comments sparked tons of debate online over what does and doesn’t count as authentic hip-hop.

The difference between pop rap and so-called “real” rap has been discussed for a few years now. Perhaps most notably, rappers like Kodak Black and Nicki Mina took issue with Latto’s song “Big Energy” being nominated for various rap awards at the Grammys. In a response to Bey’s comments, Drake took to his Instagram story with a clip from an old Method Man interview. In the discussion Method Man implied that rap music is more about the culture and the impact than any specific sound. That sentiment was shared by other rappers, most notably NLE Choppa, who came to Drake’s defense. But a new video of Bey performing has fans bringing up his Drake criticism. Check out the full clip below.

Yasiin Bey Performance Has Fans Calling For Drake

Newly released video of Yasiin Bey performing at a Paris fashion show has fans second-guessing. In the clip, he performs by himself on a small stage singing a new song that admittedly doesn’t sound much like the familiar vision of hip hop. Fans shared the video online calling into question how he could criticize Drake and then deliver the performance he did.

What do you think of Yasiin Bey’s comments about Drake making pop music rather than hip-hop? Did you opinion change after seeing the new video of Bey performing? Let us know in the comment section below.

Doja Cat’s New Album Will Be Rap With Singing Hooks, She Confirms

Doja Cat has had a rocky few months online due to near-constant feuds with her fans. Just last month, she loudly denounced those calling themselves “Kittenz,” and reportedly began blocking those contacting her about their alleged abusive experiences with her new boyfriend, J. Cyrus. Even with all the drama, Doja still decided to share her “Paint The Town Red” single this past New Music Friday (August 4), which was surprisingly enough to land her back in the good graces of many.

The catchy song arrived alongside a devilish visual, which seemingly pokes fun at those who have been long suggesting that the “Say So” singer sold her soul in exchange for more fame. It’s often hard to tell exactly how serious Doja is being, but on Monday (August 7), we received what seems to be some trustworthy news on her upcoming album. “I was going to try to do something where the album was rap hooks with rap verses,” she explained, as per @BuzzingPop on Twitter.

Doja Cat Gives Another Update on DC4

“But I feel like it’s so useful to sing because there’s so much you can do with vocalizing, harmonies and melodies,” Doja continued. This is a similar approach she took to making her incredibly popular 2021 LP, Planet Her, so it won’t be surprising to see her fourth studio project find similar success. We have yet to receive an official release date from the genre-bending creative, and though she previously announced the title as Hellmouth, it seems she’s since changed her mind and will be reintroducing her work under a new name in the near future.

This new DC4 update from Doja Cat sounds uncharacteristically serious, but where the Californian is still letting her silly side shine through is with her latest “thirst trap.” Her concerning new photo caught the attention of Tyrese, along with thousands of others, who have since left comments sharing their worry under Doja’s less-than-flattering post. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
