50 Greatest Rappers Of All Time List Shared Via Partnership Between Billboard & Vibe

Creating a list of the 50 greatest rappers of all time is certainly no easy feat. There are so many artists who deserve a mention for their contributions to the genre and the culture. However, with only 50 spots, there will evidently have to be some notable exclusions.

In a new partnership between Billboard and Vibe, the duo of magazines are sharing their collaborative list of the 50 best rappers ever. On Wednesday (January 11), they shared the first 10, #50-41.

The #50 spot goes to Rick Ross, with Rev Run and Melle Mel above him at #49 and #48 respectively. MC Lyte comes in at #47, Jadakiss at #46 and the 45th spot belongs to Ice-T. Queen Latifah, Bun B and Redman follow, as they take the 44th-42nd spots in order. E-40 is the last rapper to make the first instalment of the list, coming in at #41.

Furthermore, the Bay Area legend is one rapper who took to his Twitter account to express his gratitude for his inclusion on the list. “Appreciate the recognition from @billboard & @VibeMagazine for their 50 Greatest Rappers of All-Time list[.] Still feel underrated nationally but nobody can deny my longevity, independent hustle, my unorthodox style and creative slang in this rap game!!” writes the 55-year-old.

However, it’s certainly inspiring some interesting reactions and responses on social media. Specifically, some fans seemingly disagree with Jadakiss being in the bottom 10. “E-40 ranked higher over Jadakiss on this 50 greatest rappers list,” writes one fan on Twitter.

“How you got a top 50 rappers list and Jadakiss is at the bottom of the list?” questions brokencool in his own response.

The list serves as a celebration of hip-hop correspondingly turning 50 years old this year. Each week, they’ll be further announcing the list’s next 10 rappers. The final top 10 will eventually be unveiled during the week of February 6. It will certainly be interesting to see who they rank where.

Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne & Missy Elliott To Receive Recording Academy Global Impact Award

The Recording Academy Honors will be acknowledging Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, Missy Elliott and music executive Sylvia Rhone for their achievements within the music industry. The Black Music Collective will be presenting the event and award during the 2023 Grammy week.

The three rappers and Rhone will all receive the Recording Academy Global Impact Award. Last year, John Legend became the very first artist to receive the acknowledgement for both his personal and professional achievements.

Dr. Dre has taken home seven Grammy awards throughout his decorated career, while Lil Wayne has won five. Missy Elliott is the winner of four different Grammy awards and a pioneer for women in hip-hop.

The 65th annual Grammy Awards are less than a month away. On February 5, the award show will take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The nominees for Best Rap Album this year are Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry, Future’s I NEVER LIKED YOU, Jack Harlow’s Come Home The Kids Miss You and DJ Khaled’s GOD DID.

This category evidently received some backlash for the Academy’s choices in nominees this year. One person who didn’t hold back in calling them out is Denzel Curry. “But For The Rap Album Category I can literally Name you 10 other albums that were actually good[.] congrats to kdot and push but all that other sh*t come on bruh…” he writes in his tweet from November.

The five tracks up for Best Rap Song at this year’s awards are Kendrick’s “The Heart Part 5,” Future’s “WAIT FOR U,” Gunna’s “pushin P,” Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs” and DJ Khaled’s star-studded single, “GOD DID.” Lil Wayne and Dr. Dre both receive a nomination for their appearances on Khaled’s nominated album.

Furthermore, Beyoncé leads the way with nine separate nominations at this year’s award show. Among them are Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Dance Recording for “Break My Soul.”

This subsequently ties her with her husband, JAY Z, for for the most nominations ever at 88 each.

Lil Gotit Warns Everyone To Not Post About Lil Keed

Jury selection in Young Thug and YSL’s RICO case is officially underway. However, the reports that it could last six-nine months is evidently proving to make it difficult in selecting the jury.

Now that the trial is beginning though, there have certainly been some interesting developments happening.

On Wednesday (January 11), Lil Gotit took to his Instagram account to share a message to the public. “My momma said she would like for nobody to post Keed in any type of way. Like, tryna be funny.. Just don’t post it. Lil Gotit’s gon’ say something, that’s all I’ma say. I don’t give a f*ck what nobody do or nobody say, just don’t post Keed, I don’t care. I just got on here to say that,” he starts off.

“That’s what my mom said. Nobody post bruh. It could be happy, it could tryna be funny, it could be you really f*ck with him.. just don’t post him at all. I’m having no [mis]understandments about this sh*t, you hear me?” the “She Know It” rapper continues afterwards.

This comes as a response to Gunna making his first Instagram post since taking the plea deal last month. “N*ggas acting like they switching to a side But it’s only one side . #YsltheLabel #FreeThug&Yak GUNNA BACC!!!!!” reads the caption. The photo shows the “pushin P” rapper in what appears to be a studio set-up in his house.

The post hasn’t garnered a positive response thus far. Young Thug’s sister, HiDoraah, allegedly unfollowed the DS4EVER rapper following the caption. Thugger’s brother, Unfoonk, is also taking exception to it. “All Dat Internet Sh*t Not P,” he says in a subsequent Instagram Story.

Additionally, 6ix9ine is also inserting himself in the drama. “In court you said it was a gang here on IG u saying the label. Lol u can’t make this shit up,” reads his comment. Of course, the “FEFE” rapper has been criticizing Gunna for taking the plea deal ever since it happened.

Of course, Keed is Gotit’s brother. In May of last year, the “Snake” rapper passed away at 24 years old. The official cause of death is from eosinophilia, a disease that reportedly fights against white blood cells.

Regardless, it will certainly be interesting to hear whatever it is that Lil Gotit is teasing that he’s going to say.

What are your thoughts on the unfolding situation? Comment down below. Finally, make sure you stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest updates in the trial and all other pop culture news.

Whitney Houston Estate “Disappointed” In Jerrod Carmichael’s Golden Globes Joke

The estate of Whitney Houston has responded to Jerrod Carmichael’s controversial joke referencing the late singer from the Golden Globes. In a statement provided to TMZ, they said that the joke was “in poor taste.”

As for what Carmichael said, he joked: “So, we are here, live, from the hotel that killed Whitney Houston, the Beverly Hilton.”

“The Whitney Houston Estate is disappointed in the joke, and felt it was in poor taste,” the responding statement reads.

Houston accidentally drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in 2012. At the time, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office cited drowning and the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use” as the cause of her death.

The estate weren’t the only ones unhappy with Carmichael’s joke. Users on Twitter criticized the comedian as well.

One wrote: “I didn’t like that Whitney Houston joke at all. That was so tasteless and disrespectful to her.”

Another agreed: “Pls never hire this guy again. Horrible host.”

Houston wasn’t the only celebrity that Carmichael referenced while hosting the event. He also targeted Tom Cruise and the Church of Scientology with one of his jokes.

“Backstage, I found these three Golden Globe awards that Tom Cruise returned,” he remarked. “I think maybe we take these three things and exchange them for the safe return of Shelly Miscavige.”

Miscavige is a member of the Church of Scientology; however, she hasn’t made a public appearance since 2007. She’s married to Scientology leader David Miscavige.

Rihanna Laughs At Jerrod Carmichael’s Album Delay Approval

The Golden Globes are the talk of Hollywood today, and Rihanna has been a particular highlight. Last night (January 10), the industry’s elite gathered together for an awkward ceremony hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael. From the onset, Carmichael wasn’t holding back as he tackled issues of the Globes’ racism controversy and Hollywood’s sordid scandals.

In attendance was Rihanna with boyfriend A$AP Rocky by her side. The new parents have been enjoying time with their baby boy, but occasionally, the couple steps out for a night on the town. The “Umbrella” icon’s appearance didn’t go unnoticed by Carmichael.

When the host saw the singer in the audience, he couldn’t help but mention her much-anticipated next album.

“I’m gonna say something controversial,” Carmichael began. “I will actually get in trouble for this. Rihanna, you take all the time you want on that album, girl. Don’t let these fools on the internet pressure you into nothing!”

Rihanna found it all amusing because to call the messages she’s received “pressure” is an understatement. We haven’t received a studio album from the singer since 2016’s Anti, and her fans have been unrelenting in their requests for a project.

However, Rihanna has teased that she’s in the studio working on new music.

Furthermore, a snippet of the Ohio native filming a music video with Chief Keef is also circulating on social media.

Furthermore, according to a tweet from Kurrco, Trippie and his team may be responsible for already uploading the alleged new album to the backend of streaming services. “Trippie Redd’s upcoming #MM project will feature Juice WRLD, Future, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Chief Keef, Summrs, Lil B, Rich The Kid, Rob49 & more,” reads the tweet.

At this point, 2021’s Trip At Knight serves as his most recent full-length offering. The 18-track album boasts features from the likes of Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Ski Mask The Slump God and others. However, it certainly seems as though he’ll be dropping something else very soon.

50 explained: “I think the things you go through make you who you are. And in my journey, there’s certain things that I don’t even let into my system like that. Like, I think depression is a luxury. Because where I’m from, you can’t afford to be depressed.”

He also discussed the success of that project and admitted that he wishes it were his G-Unit partner Tony Yayo who blew up.
