The event culminated in the premiere of a captivating album announcement trailer that promises cinematic brilliance.

For “HOOD POET,” Polo G joined forces with producer Southside to craft what promises to be his most intimate and introspective work yet. The album’s acronym, “He Overcame Obstacles During Pain Or Emotional Trauma,” speaks volumes about its personal journey. Polo candidly reflects on his struggles with mental health and trauma, vowing to transcend these challenges and navigate the intricate path to healing.

Polo G ignited excitement for the album during Rolling Loud Miami, distributing lyric-laden t-shirts and posting HOOD POET lyric posters across major cities, all leading fans to the revealing www.thehoodpoet.com website.

Polo G Announced His Fourth Album ‘Hood Poet’ And Celebrated With A Brand New Chain

Polo G‘s last album, Hall of Fame, was released in June of 2021 (and reissued as Hall of Fame 2.0 in December) so it’d be understandable if fans of the Chicago rapper were getting a little antsy waiting for a follow-up. Fortunately for them, it looks like they’ll be getting one sooner than later, as he subtly announced with the launch of a YouTube livestream revealing the album’s title and release date. It’s called Hood Poet and is due one month from this writing on September 15.

Polo celebrated the announcement with the purchase of a new chain from Icebox bearing a massive heart-shaped pendant bearing the album’s title alongside a goat (as in GOAT — Greatest Of All Time — the title of his second album), a microphone, and a hand holding a pen. Naturally, the whole thing is absolutely drenched in diamonds. In addition to watching the creation of a massive mural featuring a similar design, the livestream has also been periodically previewing some of the songs from the album, with a countdown to each preview so you can check in. As of publication, the next one is a little under 90 minutes away.

Polo G Hints At “Hood Poet” Album With Lyric Posters

It has been nearly two full years since Polo G’s last solo effort. He put out a follow-up to Hall of Fame titled Hall of Fame 2.0. It is a 34-song and one-hour and 30-minute venture that most album listeners are not going to want to tackle. The Chicago-born “RAPSTAR” has been in conversations about being one of the best in the modern rap game, to being one of the most up-and-down artists as well. However, he still brings in nearly 24 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and his top five songs total, easily, billions of plays.

Polo G is also a playable character in NBA 2K23, which most rappers cannot make that claim. He is also living an exciting life of a celebrity, so he is certainly not struggling by any means. However, there are some people that believe he has not tapped into his full potential. But, he has the chance to prove the doubters wrong with his next release of Hood Poet, which is rumored to be the title. What has fans assuming Hood Poet is the next release, are posters in public with lyrics with “H.O.O.D P.O.E.T” under each one. However, a lot of people really do not seem to give a hoot about this news. One person writes, “We don’t care dude is irrelevant.” Another says, “Don’t Care, I’m still waiting for A$AP Rocky’s new album.” Finally, someone goes as far as to say, “If not he may as well retire at this point lol.”

Lil Tjay’s ‘222’ Tracklist Boasts Features Polo G, Summer Walker, And The Kid Laroi

Next week, Lil Tjay will be dropping his anticipated new album, 222. To hold fans over until then, the rapper has shared the album’s tracklist, which also includes some star-studded features — showcasing just how far he’s grown since his last record in 2021.

Lil Tjay’s first feature on the tracklist is Summer Walker on “Stressed.” The two have previously collaborated on the Pop Smoke “Mood Swings” remix.

Following that on the album is “2 Grown,” which includes The Kid Laroi.

Fivio Foreign is set to appear on the new track “Bla Bla” — marking the latest in the duo’s line of collabs. Some of Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign’s past songs included “Zoo York,” which featured the late Pop Smoke, “Not In The Mood,” and “Headshot.”

“I mean, just being from New York, it’s just a great energy all together,” LIl Tjay shared with Apple Music about “Headshot” at the time, via RapUp.

Other key features on Lil Tjay’s upcoming album include Jadakiss on “Hole In My Heart,” Youngboy Never Broke Again on “Project Walls,” Coco Jones on “Grateful,” and more surprises.

Polo G Found His New Artist CNN Mikey At An Airport

Sometimes, artists strike gold in the most unlikely of places, whether you’re looking for talent or a talent waiting to be found. Moreover, Polo G recently pulled up to Real 92.3 in Los Angeles with his new label signee CNN Mikey, introducing him to the world. For those unaware, the Chicago MC created the ODA label (Only Dreamers Achieve) in 2020, which was part of a partnership deal with Columbia Records. Furthermore, Mikey hails from Toledo, Ohio, but relocated to L.A. when Polo found him. In fact, the story of their link-up is a rare occurrence, but nonetheless an inspiring one for rising artists.

When Polo G and a friend made their way through the LAX airport, CNN Mikey went up to them to say hello. Although they hesitated at first, they loved the couple of songs that the young buck played for them. Shortly afterwards, they got him singed to ODA. “Any artist that I ever scouted or got something to do with, I’m big on creating real relationships and genuine relationships,” the “No Time Wasted” MC remarked to the radio station. “That’s what it’s all about,” the recent signee added.

Polo G Introduces CNN Mikey

Just this week on Wednesday (May 24), CNN Mikey released “FOR MY PEOPLE” along with a music video for the track. Hopefully there are greater things to come for Mikey, and for Polo G’s label. In terms of musical moves, he’s been relatively scant for the past year, likely preparing for a big drop that fans beg drops soon. However, that’s not to say he hasn’t been busy, as he appeared on the Hulu series RapCaviar Presents as one of its protagonists. During his episode, he broached a variety of compelling and important topics, such as his relationship with Juice WRLD and drugs.

Unfortunately, one of his recent statements had many concerned for his safety and criticizing his boasts. When the 24-year-old bragged about not needing security, many brought up the untimely deaths of rappers lost to violence. Polo G has announced the signing of his new artist CNN Mikey. Polo G announced the signing to his ODA (Only Dreamers Achieve) imprint, a joint venture with 25/7 Songs.

Mikey’s background, which alternated between public housing and trailer parks, compelled him to mature quickly. Mikey became completely absorbed in his music, utilizing it as a means of releasing his demons due to the fact that both of his parents had addiction problems, which he frequently discusses in his music and on social media. The burgeoning rap culture in his hometown rapidly fell in love with Mikey’s contagious, heartfelt rhymes, and Mikey finally relocated to Los Angeles to pursue music full-time.

Being an opportunity seeker at heart, Mikey approached Polo G and his brother Trench Baby at LAX and asked if he could play them some of his songs. Despite their reluctance, Mikey charmed his way into getting their attention for just one song. The boys were hooked right once, and Mikey’s ODA deal was finalized within six months.

Polo G’s Mom Explains Why She Didn’t Force Him To Get A Job

Polo G has become one of Chicago’s brightest young stars. Since dropping his debut tape Die A Legend, Polo has shown he’s a certified MC that’s here to stay. Not only that, his storytelling and creative lyrics make you feel as if he’s been in the game for a decade. However, talent like that doesn’t just come from nowhere. It takes a support system, a village, to nurture one’s talents. Thankfully Polo G has that in his mother.

In a recent video posted by The Neighborhood Talk, Polo’s mom is seen talking about their family dynamic. When asked why she didn’t allow her kids get jobs growing up she gave a detailed answer. “Coming from a person that came from an impoverished community,” she said. “I wanted my kids not to know the struggle, I wanted my kids to know what support was,” she continued. Polo G’s mother then went on to talk about how we (the Black household) are hardwired to think we have to go through something in order to be successful.

Polo G’s Mom Is His Biggest Supporter

Not only that, she noted that she wanted her kids to just be kids and enjoy their childhood, rather than getting a job early. “Live your life, be my child, I’ll figure out the rest,” she attested. Additionally, Polo G’s mom expressed her distaste for the lack of support within the Black household. “I don’t appreciate where a White household can have a conversation,” she stated. “It’s like ‘Mom I don’t know what the hell I want to do with my life’ Take the summer off, live.” She went on to compare how their White counterpart aren’t ostracized for simply trying to figure life out.

Moreover, Polo G’s mother didn’t hold back when expressing her issue with putting so much unnecessary pressure on Black youth to go out and get a job early. Although, folks in the comments also expressed their thoughts on the Chicago MC’s mom’s remarks. Polo G Reacts To NBA 2K23 Appearance

Polo G is the latest rapper to appear in one of the NBA games from 2K, but his reaction shows that he’s partly at a loss for words and partly prone to laughing at his inclusion. Moreover, he recently posted a video to his Instagram story reacting to his in-game model. While it’s certainly up for debate, a lot of people think that the playable character doesn’t look too much like him in real life. Still, the Chicago MC had some fun with it, and couldn’t hold his laughter when talking about his inclusion. “Folks just blast me into that s**t,” he stated while also hinting at him not even knowing he would be in the game in the first place.

With this achievement, the 24-year-old certainly belongs to more than one Hall of Fame. For those unaware of the video game series bringing rappers over, previous inclusions saw rappers like Lil Durk, Jack Harlow, and Lil Wayne appear in virtual form. What’s more is that J. Cole even appears on the game’s box art for NBA 2K23‘s DREAMER Edition, marking the first time a rapper graced the cover art in the franchise’s history.

“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture,” the Dreamville boss stated. “It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game, but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the DREAMER brand into NBA 2K.” However, Polo G did laugh along, but mostly sounded appreciative of the opportunity much like Cole is.

Juice WRLD’s shocking loss raised an unfortunately common conversation on drug use within not just hip-hop, but the youth and addicted community at large. In the wake of his passing, many vowed to both keep his spirit and memory alive and reflect on their own substance relationships. One rapper to do so is fellow Chicago star Polo G, who opened up about the tragedy during his episode of RapCaviar Presents on Hulu. During his interview, he spoke on how the “Lucid Dreams” star’s absence made him reevaluate his life choices. Not only that, but it also changed his family for the better.

“It made me look at a lot of s**t differently,” the “Pop Out” MC remarked. “That made me stop popping Percocets altogether, though. ‘Cause I know he wouldn’t want me on that s**t.” Furthermore, his decision also influenced his father to follow suit, who spoke on his own thought process. “Being able to see that and say, ‘Damn, my son can get it together’ — I need to [as well],” Taurus Bartlett Sr. expressed. Sadly, this isn’t the only recent reflection on mourning in hip-hop that the 24-year-old offered. As a guest on the Full Send podcast, he revealed that he meant to link up with Pop Smoke in the studio on the day of his murder.

Polo G Reflects On Collaborator Juice WRLD’s Passing

“I f***ed with Pop Smoke and the whole Drill sound,” the Old Town native stated. “You know, coming from Chicago, that’s where that s**t started at. So, I really tapped into they s**t. I hit up Pop like, ‘Yo, let’s do this.’ He had been hitting me up in the past, but before I knew who he was. And then, when I seen they wave going strong, I hit him like, ‘Yo, I f**k with y’all s**t. Let’s do something.’ The craziest thing, I worked with him right before he passed. I was in the studio with him. He said he was leaving to L.A. I stayed in New York an extra day to make sure Fivio [Foreign] laid his verse [for ‘Clueless’].

“And Pop, a contact was telling me Pop wanted to get in the stu in L.A. the night he passed,” he continued. “‘Cause I live there, he live there. We was supposed to get up.” Further into the interview, he described the process of working with him. To honor the city of Chicago for their collaboration, the Woo asked Polo for the name of a popular spot in the region, which he included. For artists like the “RAPSTAR,” part of their assumed responsibility is doing right by their fallen friends. Juice WRLD‘s death wasn’t just a loss for his family, fans, and friends, but it was also a huge loss for hip-hop as a whole. It was also a warning about the dangers of drug abuse since it was revealed he’d died of an accidental overdose on Oxycodone in late 2019.

Just like Juice WRLD said he was influenced to try drugs by one of his predecessors, his death has become a beacon to his successors. Among them is Juice’s fellow Chicagoan Polo G. In his episode of RapCaviar Presents, which began streaming on Hulu today, Polo recalls his friendship with Juice and how Juice encouraged him to give up taking pills recreationally.

“It made me look at a lot of sh*t differently,” he says. “That made me stop popping Percocets altogether, though. ‘Cause I know he wouldn’t want me on that sh*t.” Even more impactful, though, is that his father followed his example. “Being able to see that and say, ‘Damn, my son can get it together — I need to [as well],” he muses.

Now Polo G spends his spare cash on other distractions, like the iced-out iPhone holder he had turned into a pendant to keep his where everybody else can see it.
