2Pac’s Brother Remains Unconvinced Diddy Wasn’t Allegedly Involved In Late Rapper’s Murder

2Pac’s brother, Mopreme Shakur, says he’s not fully convinced the allegations that Diddy was in some way involved in the legendary rapper’s murder are untrue. He discussed the unfounded rumors during an appearance on Piers Morgan’s show, Uncensored, on Friday. Morgan began the segment by bringing up the infamous since-retracted story from the Los Angeles Times in 2008 about the allegations, in which Diddy denied any involvement.

“My opinion is that I don’t believe it was a 100 percent honest statement,” Mopreme told Morgan. “So, again, we gotta find out what’s true and what’s false. What’s real and what’s fake.” He also alleged that Diddy once denied his involvement to him in person in Los Angeles years after the murder. “[He] basically said he had nothing to do with my brother’s murder,” Mopreme alleged. “I told him, ‘The truth is still yet to come out, so we’re going to see.’ Here we are, 27, 28 years later, it looks like there’s some doubt in that statement, along with all the other suspicions that people have.” He concluded that “it’s time” for an investigation into the allegations.

Over the years, Diddy has never faced any charges in connection to the allegations. The interview with Morgan comes as Diddy resides behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while awaiting trial in his case regarding allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering. He’s already pleaded not guilty to the alleged charges and plans to argue his innocence in court.

20 years ago, Philadelphia singer Jaguar Wright was best known for features songs like The Roots’ “What You Want” from The Best Man soundtrack and as a backup vocalist for Jay-Z’s Unplugged special on MTV. However, lately, her name has been associated with Jay-Z for a different reason: namely, a recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored for which the often contentious and controversial host actually apologized earlier this week. So, what did Jaguar Wright say about Jay-Z that prompted the show host’s apology?

During her interview with Morgan, she equated Jay-Z to the recently indicted music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, claiming that Jay and his wife Beyoncé also participated in similar illicit and salacious activities to the ones Diddy is currently under investigation. Wright reportedly said that Jay is “worse than Diddy,” while admitting that she had no firsthand knowledge of the accused activities. “I have three victims right now who are willing to give testimony on not only what Mr. Carter has done to them, but his wife as well,” she said. “They’re a nasty little couple. They do nasty things… Keeping people against their will! Putting people on planes while they’re unconscious.”

This isn’t the first time Wright has trafficked in conspiracy theories, nor is it the first time Jay-Z has been linked to Diddy’s activities without evidence. In 2020, the singer trended for alleging that breakout R&B star Summer Walker had been sexually assaulted. Meanwhile, conspiracy theories surrounding Jay-Z — likely due to the mogul’s similar position to Combs in the public consciousnesses as a symbol of financial excess and “Black excellence” — encompassed a recent YouTube publishing dispute.

However, as of this writing, there’s no evidence that Jay-Z ever participated in one of Diddy’s illegal “freak offs.” Morgan, who appears to have done his guest vetting after the fact (and after receiving a sternly worded letter from Jay-Z’s lawyer), also seems to have distanced himself from the possibly specious claims. “The reality of the modern world is that pretty much everyone has a platform as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear,” he said. “That’s why we invited her on to be interviewed… But, like the proverbial cries of fire in a crowded theater, there are legal limits on us, too. And we apologize to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”

JAY-Z and Beyonce’s attorney, Alex Spiro, has confirmed that he sent a letter to Piers Morgan demanding he take down his interview with Jaguar Wright. He explained the decision during an interview with TMZ published on Wednesday. During the viral interview, Wright made several unfounded allegations about the couple, which Spiro has described as “demonstrably false.”

“There’s rumors and then there’s nonsense and this is one step further,” he told the outlet. “This is a pointed and formal accusation of something. I felt it needed to be responded to. I think somebody reported it was a cease-and-desist. It wasn’t that. It was quite bluntly an ultimatum, which is to remove that false accusation that’s demonstrably false or a court’s gonna order you to. So, I think he made the wise choice and acted accordingly.”

Morgan initially revealed JAY-Z and Beyonce sent him a legal notice during Tuesday night’s episode of his Uncensored show. “Jaguar, unexpectedly, made several serious allegations about JAY-Z and Beyoncé during that interview,” he began. “As I said in the moment, they were not present to respond or defend themselves, but now they have. Their lawyers contacted us to say that those claims were ‘totally false’ and have no basis in fact, and we’ve therefore complied with a legal request to cut them from the original interview. Editing interviews is not something we do lightly at a show called Uncensored but like the proverbial cries of fire in a crowded theater, there are legal limits on us, too. Toure went off on Jaguar Wright in a video on social media on Wednesday after the singer made headlines for her appearance on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show, last week. On the show, she made numerous allegations about JAY-Z and Beyonce while discussing the recent arrest of Diddy. During Tuesday’s episode of the show, Morgan apologized for platforming her and revealed that the celebrity couple sent him a legal letter denying the allegations.

“So we have come to the end of the Jaguar Wright sideshow,” Toure began in his response. “No serious media organization will have her on after what happened at Piers Morgan. Piers is a hack and he showed that in this situation, mainstreaming and platforming someone who has mental illness and not disclosing that. A conspiracy theorist who has no idea what she’s talking about.”

He continued: “Jaguar Wright had been living peacefully in the internet fever swamps, the conspiracy theory back alleys where, if you wanted to go way down the YouTube rabbit hole and listen to what the drunk auntie was saying off in the corner, you could find her. Piers Morgan is providing an update to the JAY-Z and Beyoncé story after he hosted Jaguar Wright on his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored. The singer-turned-viral personality levied allegations on The Carters’ name.

During her appearance, Wright said, “For four years, I’ve been screaming not just Diddy, but Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters.” She also alleged Jay and Bey have numerous victims of assault to their name.

After being contacted by The Carters’ legal team, who shut down the rumor, Morgan addressed the viral interview.

“The thing about platforms, the reality of the modern world is that pretty much everyone has a platform as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear,” Morgan said. “That’s why we invited her on to be interviewed. The people making these claims have an audience with or without shows like mine.

“Jaguar, unexpectedly, made several serious allegations about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during that interview. Jay-Z and Beyoncé may not address all the rumors floating around online. But, some things the music power couple just aren’t willing to go unchecked. Today (October 8), Piers Morgan learned this lesson through their legal team.

After being connected by the Carters’ attorneys, Piers Morgan issued a public apology to the couple (viewable here courtesy of Pop Base). However, the apology isn’t in connection with anything Morgan said. But rather what singer Jaguar Wright alleged during her appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

On October 2, Jaguar Wright referred to Jay-Z are a “monster.” Then went on to allege that Jay-Z and Beyoncé were similar to Diddy, in the sense that they have “hundreds of victims with stories about what they’ve experienced.” At the time, Piers Morgan did not interject to pushback against the unfounded allegations.

Piers Morgan recently courted controversy when be brought on Jaguar Wright to discuss the ongoing Diddy case. The musician not only leveled serious allegations at Diddy, but at JAY-Z as well. Wright has made a name for herself as a Hov critic, but Piers Morgan Uncensored was her biggest platform to date. She used it to call the Roc Nation co-founder a “monster” and align him with disreputable men. “Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, Robert Kelly, Sean Combs have one person in common professionally and privately,” Wright asserted. “Shawn Carter.” Unsurprisingly, JAY-Z and Beyonce took legal action.

Piers Morgan addressed his viewers on October 8 and clarified the situation. “We apologize to JAY-Z and Beyonce,” he asserted. It makes complete sense why the couple would take legal action against Piers Morgan, but the Jaguar Wright’s interview has actually lots of notable reactions from people in the industry. Ray J took to social media to call out Wright’s decision to go on Piers Morgan Uncensored, rather than his show. “You wanna keep taking these other n**gas money,” the singer asked. “And not showing love to the community? That sh*t weak as f*ck.” Ray J also criticized Jaguar Wright for not communicating with him when he previously tried to book her.

Meek Mill is another artist who has a lot to say about the Jaguar Wright interview. Meek’s position is an admittedly fascinating one, since he has ties to both Diddy and JAY-Z. He was seemingly close friends with the former, and worked under the latter for a brief time at Roc Nation. He tweeted a couple things about Jaguar Wright, but it’s unclear what he meant by them. “F*ck is going on a silent war,” he wrote. He then followed it up by questioning why Wright got such an enormous platform to speak. “Why do these people have more of a voice than the thoroughbred people!”

It must stop.” Morgan went on to bring up ongoing allegations of misogyny in hip-hop and to ask Wright how dangerous she actually believes Diddy is.

“I think he’s one of the most dangerous people I’ve ever met,” she alleged. “I would never take a picture with the devil […] Everyone knew he was the devil.
