Snoop Dogg Admits 2Pac Was A “Better Dad” To His Son Than Him

Snoop Dogg says that 2Pac played a major role in raising his son, Corde. He reflected on their relationship during an interview with PEOPLE, earlier this week, remarking that the late rapper was a better father to him than he was early on. He explained: “I was working on [my 1996 album] Tha Doggfather. So when [Corde] was old enough able to pee and all that other sh*t, I started taking him to the studio with me. … So I’m raising him around all of the homies.”

Snoop continued: “Tupac loved him. It’s like his nephew. Tupac was a better dad than me. We’ve been up here [in the recording studio for] three hours and we ain’t got him nothing to eat. It’s like I’m up here rapping and sh*t, I’m not being a father. [He was] training me.”

‘Pac tragically died in 1996 after a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. A year later, Snoop welcomed his second son, Cordell. “I put them in football, and I watched them work together. Football helped me to become a real good father because I was around other men who were single parents, or either had a great wife, or was a grandfather raising their son’s kids — so much I could learn from them,” Snoop recalled.

It’s not the first time Snoop has reflected on his relationship with 2Pac as of late. When launching his Death Row Cannabis products, he revealed that ‘Pac was the first person to introduce him to blunts, which he did at the wrap party for the film Poetic Justice. “That first blunt sparked a friendship that ran deep. Drake is apparently feeling “happy as sh*t” following his viral beef with Kendrick Lamar. His frequent collaborator, Gordo, spoke about the Toronto rapper’s current mindset during an interview with People published on Wednesday. It comes as fans have been concerned about his mental health due to the popularity of Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

“Ever since all this has happened … I’ve seen him happier. It’s really weird. He’s pretty jolly,” Gordo said. “The internet makes it seem like, ‘Oh, that photo, he’s all sad and sh*t.’ That’s just a bad photo from a bad camera. But because it’s him, it’s put under a magnifying glass like, ‘Oh, look at his eyes. He’s looking a little droopy. He hasn’t slept.’ But the guy’s been happy as sh*t, to be honest. He’s chilling.”

From there, he revealed that he doesn’t expect any more updates on the beef on Drake’s side. “He’s been past it,” Gordo added. “The thing is that he was just on the longest tour ever. He literally did a tour for like a year. I think he’s just chilling.” In the time since the release of his last diss track, “The Heart Part 6,” Drake has opted for some lighter releases. Mary J Blige Reveals She’s Working On A New Album, But It Will Probably Be Her Last

Mary J Blige has been putting out music for decades with a nearly uninterrupted presence in R&B since her debut in 1992. In the 32 year’s since she’s dropped 13 more projects and recently confirmed that a 15th is on the way. During a recent interview with People she spoke on her current attitude while in the studio. “I’m actually in the studio right now recording more music, and I’m having fun. I’m having fun no matter what happens,” she explained.

But that wasn’t the end of the discussion of new music. She spoke on what was currently inspiring her to create more music, saying “I believe in love for myself, love for life, love for happiness, love for God, love for peace. Know that life is full of ups and downs, and roll with the punches because life is important.” Finally, she revealed that she’s working on her next studio album. While that’s an exciting prospect for fans she also revealed some bad news. “It’s probably my last studio album,” she revealed. Check out the full interview with People below.

In the same interview, Mary J Blige reacted to comments Flavor Flav made about her. The Public Enemy rapper is one of the most surprising Swifties around and he compared Blige to Taylor Swift. She completely agreed with the comparison pointing out the similar approaches they have to songwriting. Swift just released her new double album The Tortured Poets Department which could sell more than 2 million copies in its first week alone.

Blige didn’t reveal any information about when the album may arrive as it seems like work is very much still in progress. Her last studio album Good Morning Gorgeous dropped back in 2022. Usher Reflects On Fan Backlash to Tameka Foster Relationship

Usher has opened up about the impact that fan reaction to his relationship with Tameka Foster had on him. “It was a bit unconventional in a time when I felt like my female fans were judgmental of the woman that I chose. She was a dark-skinned woman, and maybe they didn’t want to love her in a way because of maybe some reason that had to do with themselves. I don’t know. Or maybe she was not the best reference because of how she handled herself,” Usher told PEOPLE.

Usher and Foster were married for two years between 2007 and 2009. At the time, many fans expressed a dislike of Foster due to the eight-year age gap between the couple as well as what they saw as “controlling behavior” towards Usher. Following their divorce, the two became locked in a vicious and well-publicized custody battle. Usher was married again between 2015 and 2018. He married his third wife last week, hours before he performed at the Super Bowl.

Usher Didn’t Invite Chris Brown To Super Bowl

Meanwhile, Usher also recently revealed that he never intended to bring out Chris Brown at the Super Bowl. “No, I did not reach out to Chris Brown. I’m not gon’ tell you everybody I reached out to. I reached out to some hitters. I was curating what would be one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time and it actually turned into that because of who I reached out to,” Usher said.

It’s the second big event Brown has missed out on this week. Brown claimed that he was uninvited from the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. “I was asked by the NBA to play in the All-Star Game this year! Only for them to call later and say I couldn’t do it because of their sponsors like Ruffles. At this point, I’m sick of bothering me and I’m tired of living in the f-cking past,” Brown wrote on Instagram. Furthermore, Brown claimed that after uninviting him, the NBA still asked him to sit courtside at the game. While Brown posted an initial invitation from the league to appear at the game, he did not provide evidence of the league uninviting him.

Usher has a lot to celebrate these days: a new album, a Super Bowl halftime show, a new wife, and so much more. He recently spoke to PEOPLE for a cover story to unpack much of this, and also to look back on his legendary career and notable life trajectory leading up to this point. Moreover, the Dallas native might be in a pretty great place right now, but it wasn’t always like this, especially back when he was young and in love. During this interview, he reflected on his three-year-long relationship with TLC’s Chilli, who broke his heart when she rejected his marriage proposal.

“I was a young man, and she had very specific rules that didn’t work for me,” Usher told the publication. “I wanted to marry her, I proposed and she said to me, ‘No,’ I went through a great deal of pain after that. Not trusting women or wanting to open up. I hurt her too, but the situation broke my heart.” Given that even his ex-wife Tameka Foster went to the Super Bowl to support her former flame, we can at least assume that he can still keep up amicable and healthy relationships with his exes despite their history.

Usher Reflects On Marriage Plans Getting Rejected By Chilli

Meanwhile, all this hype and excitement is also manifesting itself in more formal ways for the 45-year-old. For example, upon his return to Atlanta, he got the city’s Phoenix Award for his service to it, got a spot of the Black Entertainment and Music Walk of Fame, and Fulton County recognized February 14 as “Usher Day.” “Atlanta is a city of belief,” he remarked during the award ceremony. “Atlanta is a city that allowed me to be that Phoenix to rise. It is a city that has allowed me to have the tenacity to go out and share this culture that I found when I was here.”

However, all the media coverage and updates haven’t been perfect, especially when it comes to other outlets trying to bite off more than they could chew. Moreover, the MONTERO star recently called out some “fake news” that emerged online concerning the identity of his mother. If you’re a longtime fan, you know that the wider public still doesn’t really know who she is, and it seems like he definitely wants to keep it that way, at least for now.

“I never really talk about my mom,” Lil Nas X had previously told Vanity Fair. “She’s [addicted], so we don’t have the closest relationship. Lil Nas X begged to be called by his name on his single, “MONTERO.” Now, he is asking that the courtesy be extended to his parents. Although Lil Nas X has no problem dismissing attacks on his name (hi, Dave Chappelle), he doesn’t hold back regarding family. Yesterday (January 4), People Magazine learned that the hard way when it misidentified Lil Nas X’s mother.

After getting wind of the publisher’s inaccurate piece on the rapper’s life, he hopped on his official X (formerly Twitter) page to set the record straight. Fans are very familiar with Lil Nas X’s father, Robert Stafford, having attended many events with his famous son. Stafford has even clapped back at a few celebs over their disgusting comments. However, Lil Nas X’s mother remains a mystery.

So when People incorrectly claimed (in a now-deleted article that has been archived here) Lil Nas X’s mother’s name was Shawnita Hathaway, he slammed them. “Y’all just be creating people. cuz who the hell is Shawnita Hathaway? I did not come out that lady p*ssy,” Lil Nas X wrote.

Back in 2021, when rumors circulated that Lil Nas X refused to help his mother had fallen on hard times, Stafford took to his Instagram to shut down the reports with a statement (seen here).

Jada Pinkett Smith recently sat down with PEOPLE and in that discussion, revealed how she and Will Smith first got together. “We had gone out with friends about a year before. And then he calls me and he’s like ‘Hey, I’m in Baltimore. I’m leaving LA. I’m actually here at the moment overseeing the renovations. Let’s meet up.” Pinkett Smith went on to reveal that she found the assertiveness “sexy” but also acknowledged that this was at the time when Smith was divorcing his first wife. Sheree Zampino.

The Smiths would be married in 1997. The long-standing story they have put out prior to this interview was that they met when Jada auditioned for a role as Will’s girlfriend on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. However, Jada also revealed to PEOPLE that she and Will have been formally separated since 2016 and live “completely separate lives.”

Another story concerning Jada and Will in the 90s was recently revealed by actor Tommy Davidson. Davidson recalled a “run-in” with Will Smith in the late 90s after he kissed Jada Pinkett Smith. The incident happened after Davidson kissed Pinkett Smith without prior warning during the filming of Woo. “Me and Will had a run-in. He came into the trailer and I was sitting down. He’s standing over me and he’s like, ‘I don’t appreciate that, man. I don’t appreciate that.’ And I’m like, ‘What you talking about?’ I always know to play it off. And I’m like, ‘What’s going on man? Tell me what’s happening.’ And since he was standing and I was sitting, I was a real nice fella. That’s about physics.”

I didn’t [know what he was talking about] but I knew what he was doing. And I was like, ‘Just tell me what’s up.’ And he’s like, ‘You know what’s up.’ So finally I just said, ‘This is a small place and people are here. We should talk about it, me and you outside because it looks like you need to get something off your chest.’ And Jada was like, ‘Oh nah nah, y’all.’ I was like, ‘What you mean nah y’all? Tell him!’ And that was the end of that.”

Ice-T Opens Up About Parenting: “They Grow Up With You”

During a recent interview with People, Ice-T opened up about his parenting style. The 65-year-old admits that the way he and his wife Coco raise their daughter is unconventional, however, he says it works for them. He also shared his thoughts on the 50th anniversary of hip hop, claiming that it’s a genre that brings different generations together.

“The thing about hip-hop is beside being 50, it’s one of the few musics where parents are almost in the same culture as their kids,” he explained. “The only thing is our generation, the early generations, we refused to let our kids be cooler than us. We’re like, ‘You think you understand hip-hop, but you’re not from that golden era.” He went on, revealing what he believes to be the key to parenting.

Ice-T On His Daughter Having Social Media

“The key to having kids is having parental guidance — not necessarily parental control, but guidance to help them understand what it is,” Ice-T says. “My daughter was listening to 2 Live Crew and whatnot. My son used to sing Wu-Tang Clan without saying motherf*cker, and it was amazing.” He adds, “When you talk, it’s kind of like they grow up with you and you share that common bond which is beautiful. It’s beautiful.”

Although the way Ice-T raises his kids is far from the norm, he’s not worried about criticism. “You got to remember this: for anything anybody says about me and Coco, there’s a million billion people that are like f*ck that,” he explains. “So are you gonna listen to the negative? I always say you’re insulated by love. You got so many people out there that love you. You can’t pay attention to the idiots, you know?” He also says that his 7-year-old daughter with Coco, Chanel, is just a “normal kid” enjoying social media. “It’s fun and she likes doing it,” he explained, “We’re not afraid of anything happening.”
