SZA Teases Miley Cyrus Collab, Congratulates Her On No. 1 Song

SZA just gave Miley Cyrus her “Flowers” for her song of the same name reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and teased a collab in the process. Moreover, the SOS star took to Twitter to shout out the 30-year-old for her massive accomplishment. Also, she let us know that her upcoming album is going to be great, as well.

“MAJOR congrats to Miley !!!” the “Gone Girl” singer wrote. “Excited for her album and to work together,” adding a white heart emoji to her message. While we’re all excited for Miley’s album, what really got fans talking was the anticipation of them working together. Moreover, Miley responded to SZA’s message with some similarly kind words.

“You are KILLING it,” the star singer wrote. “Congratulations! Sending love,” capping her tweet off with a kiss emoji. Moreover, the TDE alum currently sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, with the SOS standout “Kill Bill.” Also, this is Cyrus’ second No. 1 hit on the charts.

Still, SZA has so, so much to celebrate when it comes to SOS. Moreover, she thanked her fans for six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Also, she became the first female artists in Billboard Hot 100 history to have 10 or more songs chart for six consecutive weeks.

“Also thank you for 6 WEEKS AT NUMBER ONE,” she wrote. “Never thought I’d even get one week tbh… God is so excellent, thank y’all fr.”

Otherwise, this wasn’t the only notable SZA-related shoutout from chart-topping queens. Furthermore, Taylor Swift penned a sweet message for SZA on her Instagram story as she celebrated the success of her Midnights single, “Anti-Hero.”

“What on Earth I love you guys,” she expressed via her story. “PS – Been listening to [SZA’s] album nonstop. Absolutely adore her music. So much love and respect for her!!

NBA YoungBoy Scores 13th Top 10 Album With “I Rest My Case”

NBA YoungBoy scored his 13th top 10 album on the charts with I Rest My Case. Moreover, the Motown Records debut landed at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. According to chart numbers, the latest from the Louisiana MC moved 29,000 album equivalents in its first week. Also, it garnered around 40 million streams in the U.S. in that time span.

While this a huge win for the Top star, many saw it as a drop in momentum. After all, it represented YB’s lowest album sales since his career first took off. Considering chart numbers, though, the 23-year-old still found massive success. When you’re as successful as him, even your relative misses are worth celebrating.

However, a few other factors could’ve contributed to this album’s success and relative lack of fanfare. I Rest My Case dropped at the very start of the year amid a busy holiday season. Also, it represents a different sound for YoungBoy, at least when it comes to the first half of the tracklist. Moreover, cuts like “Black” saw YoungBoy in the rage space, spitting over distorted synths and compressed-to-death percussion. Despite some calling it derivative, this writer still finds it to be a compelling and exciting fit for the MC.

Meanwhile, other artists continue to celebrate their Billboard dominance. SZA’s long-awaited SOS celebrated its fifth week atop the charts, and she tweeted a special message. In fact, it seems she’s writing a new one practically every week, with all the success she’s found. Moreover, the last album to achieve such a feat was Adele’s 30.

“5th week at number one,” the “Kill Bill” singer wrote. “God is good . F**k who disagree! Focus on yourself believe in yourself TRUST YOURSELF. GRATEFUL.”

Back to YB, though, he capped the year off by squashing his beef with Fredo Bang, as they hosted a toy drive in their home city of Baton Rouge. Also, he seems to have resolved things with Kodak Black. The two rappers recently hopped on FaceTime to air out their issues, put them aside, and come together.

What do you think of NBA YoungBoy’s I Rest My Case marking his 13th top 10 album on the charts? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on YB.

NBA YoungBoy’s “I Rest My Case” Sells 30K Copies In First Week

One of hip-hop’s most prolific artists continues to rake in numbers with each new release. NBA YoungBoy’s latest album, I Rest My Case, sold 30,000 copies in its first week according to HITS Daily Double. While some fans thought it was too derivative to be considered great, there’s no denying it made a splash. In other sales news, Coke Boys 6 by French Montana and DJ Drama sold 21,000 units. Meanwhile, Real Boston Richey’s Public Housing, Pt. 2 sold 15,000 copies.

These albums joined the charts amid some of last year’s most enduring hot releases. SZA’s SOS still sits comfortably at the top, with smash hits like Midnights by Taylor Swift and Heroes & Villains by Metro Boomin close by. I Rest My Case cracked the top 10 at No. 9, falling between Lil Baby’s It’s Only Me at 8 and Harry Styles’ Harry’s House at 10.

Moreover, these numbers are relatively consistent with YB’s project output and the sales he makes from them. His previous mixtape Ma’ I Got A Family garnered 39,000 sales in its first week. While I Rest My Case netted three quarters of that, it also dropped during the holiday season with not as much promotion or hype behind it. However, it represents YB’s lowest sales since his career got off the ground. Through songs like “Black,” however, the Louisiana rapper definitely switched things up on this album with some new experiments in rage. So, even if it isn’t YoungBoy’s peak, he’s always pushing something forward with each project.

Also, it seems the 23-year-old took even more steps to change. Recently, he hopped on a FaceTime call with Kodak Black, seemingly squashing their beef. In addition, he reportedly got a marriage license with Jazlyn Mychelle, with whom he shares two children. As one of the most enigmatic, divisive, but undeniably influential rappers working today, seeing his career evolve is more gratifying than ten million copies.

What do you think of these first-week numbers from NBA YoungBoy, French Montana, and Real Boston Richey? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, check back in with HNHH for the latest releases, discussions, and numbers in hip-hop.

Tory Lanez Song, “The Color Violet” Enters Billboard Hot 100

Tory Lanez is one of the most controversial artists in the world right now. On December 23, he was found guilty for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020.

However, it seems as though the “Say It” artist is still receiving plenty of streams from behind bars.

On Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart dated for the week of January 14, 2023, one of the Canadian artist’s singles, “The Color Violet,” makes a new appearance at #87. Furthermore, Lanez himself appears on the Billboard Global 200 chart for artists, at #122 there.

The 30-year-old dropped “The Color Violet” in 2021, as the fourth track off of his sixth studio album, Alone At Prom. The project features distinct ’80s-inspired production.

Of course, this news comes just a few weeks after Lanez’s guilty verdict in the Megan Thee Stallion trial. The jury is responsible for declaring him guilty of all three charges against him. This includes carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic handgun and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

However, new reports indicate that the Chixtape rapper has fired his attorney. He’s hiring Suge Knight’s former lawyer, David Kenner, as his replacement.

“Kenner is a longtime criminal defense attorney whose clients include former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight. Anyone with actual experience in criminal law (not all lawyers) will tell you he’s joining the case a bit late: Before trial would have been better,” says legal reporter Meghann Cuniff in a tweet.

Earlier today, TMZ began circulating photos of the “Savage” rapper’s injured foot from the shooting. The set of photos also includes x-rays of her injury, as well as images of a bloody suitcase in the backseat of the vehicle where the incident occurred.

The sentencing was originally set to take place soon, on January 27. However, the hiring of his new attorney may cause a delay now. The Toronto native faces up to 22 years in years in prison.

What are your thoughts on “The Color Violet” cracking the Billboard Hot 100? Comment below. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest updates and stories in music and pop culture.

SZA Shows Off Her Booty As “S.O.S” Holds Onto #1 Spot For Three Weeks Straight

SZA finally arrived with her second studio album, S.O.S in December. The singer didn’t disappoint, which clearly reflected on the charts. SZA’s new album currently holds the #1 spot for the third week in a row, bearing out plenty of holiday releases.

Shortly after selling 128,000 in her third week, SZA blessed the ‘Gram with new heat in the form of a thirst trap. The singer shared a short video of herself wearing a bikini bottom as she showed off her booty. From the looks of it, SZA is either on the set of a photo or video shoot so perhaps, we’ll catch this particular look in some new visuals.

“3 weeks at number one fully minding my business n not giving a fuck . Thank God,” she captioned the photo dump, including the thirst trap.

Of course, the picture had everyone talking, especially after she addressed plastic surgery rumors on her new album. As many speculated whether she went under the knife, she appeared to confirm the gossip.

“Talkin’ I’m off the bench like Brady, I’m pressin’ n***** like KD, it’s up,” she sings on the titular song. “Remind you of Dеlla Reese. So classic, that ass so fat, it look natural, it’s not”.

She also addressed the matter again on “Conceited” where she shrugged off everyone’s opinion about her body.

“I don’t like nobody, I don’t feel guilty about it/ I just got my body done, ain’t got no guilt about it/ I just heard your opinion, I could’ve did without it,” she sings.

2023 is evidently off to a great start for SZA but it will certainly only get better from here. The singer is set to launch the North American leg of her upcoming tour in February, beginning in Colombus, OH. From there, she’ll hit cities like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Toronto. Then, she’ll be closing things out in L.A. on March 22nd.

“Her Loss” Surpasses One Billion Streams On Spotify

It seems as though Drake breaks records after every new release. The world is continuing to stream his latest offering, last month’s 21 Savage-assisted album, Her Loss.

As a result, the project has just recently hit a milestone mark.

On Monday (December 26), Spotify announced that the 16-track album has officially reached one billion streams and counting. Of course, this is just on their streaming platform and doesn’t count the plays from elsewhere.

Along with the astronomical number of streams, Drizzy simultaneously breaks another record. He becomes the artist with the most albums with over one billion streams to their name, as Her Loss marks his twelfth to do so. His first album of 2022, Honestly, Nevermind, cracked the milestone earlier this year.

The project unsurprisingly debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, selling 411,000 units in its first week.

In other news surrounding the 6 God, he’s certainly been attending his fair share of Toronto Raptors games this year. As the team’s global ambassador, the 36-year-old is often spotted court-side at Scotiabank Arena in his signature seat. More times than not, he brings along his 5-year-old son, Adonis.

Just last night, the father and son duo were seen taking in some basketball action as the Raptors faced off against the Los Angeles Clippers. After the game, the Clippers posted a clip of Drizzy dapping up former Raptors Normal Powell and Kawhi Leonard. “Kawhi and Norm with a fan,” the franchise wrote in the Instagram caption.

Evidently, Champagne Papi didn’t the Clippers calling him a fan. “Win a ring,” he subsequently fired back in the comments.

SZA Earns First #1 Album With “S.O.S”

SZA tops the chart for the first time in her career following the release of her highly-anticipated second studio album.

Hits Daily Double reports SZA’s latest studio album, S.O.S., soared to #1 on the Billboard 200 this week with 315K units. Not only does this mark her first #1 album of her career, but she’s also debuted with the largest R&B streaming week in history. Needless to say, SZA didn’t fall for the sophomore slump and delivered a body of work that might end up having the same staying power as Ctrl.

SZA’s joined by great company in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 this week. Taylor Swift continues to have a hold on the charts with Midnights, which holds the #2 spot with 137K. Right underneath at #3 is Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains, then Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss at #4. Rounding out the top 5 is Michael Bublé’s Christmas.

Following the success of S.O.S., SZA plans on hitting the road in support of the album. Last week, she announced her upcoming arena tour across North America with Omar Apollo as her supporting act. The tour kicks off on Feb. 21st in Columbus, OH. From there, SZA will stop off in Chicago, Atlanta, New York and other major cities, like Los Angeles, where she’ll close out the tour on March 22nd.

Unfortunately, it seems like S.O.S. could be SZA’s final outing for a while. Though it took five years for her follow-up to Ctrl to drop, she recently hinted that she might “disappear” soon.

“I’m gonna disappear, definitely, for as long as I can,” she explained of her plans following the album’s release. “I need to shoot as many videos as I can, so I can disappear for longer.”

We’ll keep you posted on any more updates regarding SZA’s upcoming plans. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on S.O.S. in the comments.

Mariah Carey Reaches No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100 Chart – Again

Christmas is now less than two weeks away. One of the most telling tales that this time of year is officially here is when you start to hear Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” all over the radio.

Last year, the smash hit appeared at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart dated December 25. This marked the third straight holiday season it has accomplished this feat.

The festive track is back in its familiar territory this week. Dethroning Taylor Swift’s recent hit, “Anti-Hero” in the process, the top four songs now all reflect the time of year. Wham!’s “Last Christmas” also appears at No. 9, making half of the top 10 holiday songs.

Subsequently, the staple Christmas tune extends Carey’s record as the artist with the most weeks spent atop the chart. Presently, she’s celebrating her 88th.

The next closest artist, Rihanna follows behind in second place with 60 weeks spent at the top.

The Queen of Christmas has also entered the top 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart yet again. Her aptly-titled 1994 album, Merry Christmas, currently sits at the 10th spot. It’s only a matter of time before it jumps up the list.

Just last month, the “Fantasy” singer revealed that she does in fact own the masters to her old music. The recordings to 86 singles and 15 studio albums dating back to 1990 are officially hers.

In other news surrounding the 52-year-old icon, there is reportedly an adaptation of her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey in the works.

Directed by her longtime friend Lee Daniels, it’s set to come in the form of a mini-series. The most wonderful time of the year continues to be dominated by Miss Mariah.

Does “All I Want for Christmas Is You” enter your holiday rotation at this time of year? If not, what song puts you in the Christmas spirit? Comment down below.

Metro Boomin’s “Heroes & Villains” First Week Sales Are In

Metro Boomin came through clutch this year, ending the year on a high note with the release of Heroes & Villains. The St. Louis producer kept most of the project under wraps until its release. He didn’t drop a single, just a few social media posts and a short film to kick off the campaign.

Nonetheless, Metro proved that the wait was evidently worth it. Throughout the past week, first-week sales projections for Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains increased. Industry forecasters initially projected that Heroes & Villains would move upwards of 150K in its first week. Then, those numbers increased by nearly 30K.

Billboard confirmed Metro Boomin sold 185K in his first week, topping the charts with Heroes & Villains. The producer earned his third chart-topper with his latest project, which includes star-studded appearances. John Legend, The Weeknd, Future, Chris Brown, A$AP Rocky, Young Thug, Gunna, and more appear across the 15-song tracklist.

Following the release of Heroes & Villains, Metro followed it up just days later with the Heroes Version. The re-release included the original 15 songs and the instrumental version.

Prior to this, Metro hit the top of the Billboard 200 with 2020’s Savage Mode II alongside 21 Savage. His first #1 album was his debut album, NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES.

The road to the release of Heroes & Villains didn’t come without delay. Though Metro Boomin hinted at the project’s release for a minute, he announced in late October that he wouldn’t drop on November 4th, as initially planned. Due to the number of samples used, he explained that he faced trouble clearing certain songs.

In related news, A$AP Rocky recently said that he worked closely with Metro Boomin on his next studio album, Don’t Be Dumb. During a recent interview with GQ, the Harlem rapper explained that he and Metro locked in a few records together that will likely end up on his project.

“I’m gonna put it to you like this: This next album needs to be just called Flacko Boomin, you hear me?” he said. “Most artists wanna make [collabs just because they’re hot]. For us, it’s like, that’s really my n***a.”
