Over the course of two-and-a-half years, Fifth Harmony was productive, releasing three albums in that time. Since Normani launched her solo career in 2018, though, she hasn’t been quite as fruitful. She’s had some big singles: 2018’s “Love Lies” with Khalid and 2019’s “Dancing With A Stranger” with Sam Smith were both top-10 hits in the US. As far as albums, though, Normani actually hasn’t released a single one.

It looks like that’s finally about to change.

Is Normani Releasing A New Album In 2024?

On X (formerly Twitter) today (February 21), Normani shared a quote-tweet of a post of hers from 2018, in which she wrote, “I have my album title y’all.” Her added text was simply a link to wheresthedamnalbum.com. The page, an official RCA website, features pre-save links and a logo flanked by two telling pieces of text. On the left is Dopamine, which is the title of her debut album (as she confirmed elsewhere, more on that in a second). On the right is a date, but the months and days are constantly changing. The year, though, stays the same, so it appears Dopamine is indeed set for a 2024 release, with an exact date to be confirmed later.

Shortly after that, she revealed the cover art, which features her wearing a bikini and riding atop a black rocket. She captioned her post, “cryingg typing this rn. DOPAMINE THE ALBUM.”

So, at long last, Normani’s debut album is finally, officially on the way, it’s called Dopamine, and it’s expected to drop in 2024.

Normani’s Long-Awaited Debut Album Receives Artwork & Title, But Still No Official Release Date

In 2016, Fifth Harmony lost one of its key members Camila Cabello. She went on to pursue her solo career and it has continued to be a successful one. Even though the girl group was down to four, they were able to chug along for about another two years. It would be in March of 2018 that they decided to all move on as solo acts, including Normani. Ever since then, she has been teasing her first project. But, that was all she did. No cover art, tracklist, or release date was ever given for five long years. That finally all changes today as Normani has just handed out some of the details of her debut album.

This comes amid some accusations made by critics that she was running her own fan account on social media. However, it has been debunked, as her team is handling all of that. Normani cleaned out her Instagram, making room to show off her debut album cover art and title. It is titled Dopamine, and it features her wearing a skimpy, matching, black leather lingerie set while sitting on a blacked-out rocket ship.

In addition, Uproxx went ahead and checked out the link in Normani’s bio for more information on the LP. Ironically branded as wheresthedamnalbum.com, when you click on that link it will bring you to a pre-save link for Spotify and Apple Music. To the right is a ever-changing release date, so there is still no official word on that. But at least we have some of the goods. Hopefully, Normani and RCA get a date shortly after seeing all of this exciting news unfold.

We’ve heard her vocals shine alongside Tinashe and Offset on Calvin Harris’ “New To You” in recent years, not to mention her solo “Fair” single that set the tone for what’s next in this upcoming era of music. Besides that, Normani also collaborated with Cardi B on “Wild Side,” and KAYTRANADA for a must-hear remix of the same single in 2021. Fans have been eagerly waiting to hear what’s next from the multi-talent, and earlier this week, it looked like those announcements might finally be coming out. However, eagle-eyed social media sleuths were quick to speculate that the black-haired beauty might be running one of her own stan accounts on Twitter/X.

On Tuesday (February 20), R&B lovers noticed that Normani’s Instagram profile had been cleared out – this is a common tactic for many artists to usher in a new era. When @normanination reposted a screenshot of the blank account, writing, “WHAT IS HAPPENING” above it, some quickly spotted the “Edit profile” button, suggesting that whoever captured the image was already logged into the former girl group star’s profile. In the time since, however, we’ve been reminded that the same account confirmed in 2022 that it’s run by Normani’s team, not her.

What Will Normani’s New Era Be Like?

“Unpopular opinion, but Normani can trash her album. We don’t want it, Coco Jones ended her AND we have the Bailey sisters, Mariah the Scientist, Tyla, SZA, and Summer Walker,” one critic wrote earlier this week. “She can go back to running her stan account and being a background dancer 🤷🏽‍♀️. Normani Inks Deal With New Management Team

Normani has parted ways with her with longtime management company S10 Entertainment, according to new reports. Per Rolling Stone, the “Wild Side” singer has signed with the same management team as other heavy hitters like Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, and Coco Jones. Normani reportedly separated from S10 Entertainment’s Brandon Silverstein back in May. The decision comes after rumors that the singer is working on new music.

The team consists of Brandon Creed and Lydia Asrat, both well-known figures in the industry. Asat worked with Doja Cat from 2017 until March 2022 and landed herself a spot on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list last year. In a statement to Rolling Stone, the singer expressed her good wishes to her former manager. “With new music on the horizon, and Asrat and Creed now at the helm of her musical career, she and the rest of her team are extremely excited to embark on this new chapter and partnership,” a rep for the singer said.
