DJ Akademiks Outlines A Plan For Drake To Overcome Kendrick Lamar Loss

DJ Akademiks just offered his latest theory on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, and looked to the 6ix God’s past for a way out of his loss to K.Dot. “I was thinking about, coming off of that whole battle with the Pusha T thing,” Ak’s advice began. “You know why the Pusha T thing didn’t sting as much? Bro, [Drake] immediately had… He had ‘God’s Plan’ already. The n***a had… What else, what else, what else? He had ‘SICKO MODE,’ right, that came out that year. ‘Mob Ties,’ yeah, he had so many hits. Quickly, even if people said he lost to Pusha T, we didn’t feel the ramifications of the aftereffect.

“I think we’re waiting on the next Drake slap, right?” DJ Akademiks continued. “And ‘It’s Up’ is borderline that, but I don’t know if it’s undeniable. I don’t know if Drake is just dropping this because he’s like, ‘Nah, this is going to be it,’ or he’s like, ‘Yo, let me just give y’all some s**t to hold y’all over until I hit you with the real s**t.’

DJ Akademiks Strategizes For Drake’s Comeback

“Because I do believe, if I’m Drake, my best song that I have in my catalog, I don’t care who’s on it, I’ll pay the n***a to get off it,” DJ Akademiks went on. “Like, say you have a feature on it. You need to drop that now, you need to drop that s**t. It don’t have to be number one, but it has to be the s**t that we’re all playing for the next two to three months. And I don’t know the release strategy. That’s one thing me and Drake don’t talk about. I don’t think it’s fair if he talks about that with me, as well.

“The reason why I don’t think it’s fair is because somehow, through and through, I’m probably going to hint to it,” DJ Akademiks concluded. “And I don’t want to ruin or step on what he got going on. He’s the artist, he has the vision, let him rock out. Let me be the journalist, the media personality, and the fan that can do the critique, right? Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla are very much kindred spirits in the world of femcees (and all rappers) today. Moreover, they went on tour together, have multiple collaborations, seem to love each other’s company, and are proud of their Southern roots (Houston and Memphis, respectively). During what seems like a recent sit-down podcast conversation for Instagram, they discussed how they bonded and their similarities. In addition, Megan remarked on how she feels like they were among the first huge female hip-hop stars from the South of their generation, a sentiment that Glo seemed to agree with. Many misinterpreted her comments to mean “of all time” and not “of [their] time,” like Meg actually said, so make that distinction clear before you proceed.

“Like, I just wanted to go by myself,” Megan Thee Stallion’s comments on her tour alongside GloRilla began. “It was my first time going on my own tour. But I really like your music! I really felt like, you know, it’s the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ tour. We need girls. Like, we need to have a good time, we need to have a blast. And then I started thinking about who I feel like I would have a blast with. I feel like we are doing something very unique for the South. This didn’t sit right with some, including B. Dot. He weighed in on the list on Way Up With Angela Yee recently, making it abundantly clear that he’s not a fan. “I can’t get jiggy with that,” he began. “Have you ever heard Playboi Carti’s music? He raps in like Batman sound effects. He sucks. He’s terrible.”

In fact, LeBron James’ wife didn’t think there was a difference between being a side chick and being a sneaky link until someone else clarified it. Most interestingly, though, she went on a small rant about how she despises the term “wifey,” presumably from how she described it as a minimizing and diminutive way to refer to a marriage.

“Nothing,” Savannah James responded to a question about what the difference between a side chick and a sneaky link is. “[Nothing] to me. Young people, help us, we old,” she added. Then, an off-camera participant explained that a side chick is someone that a man’s main partner knows about, whereas the partner does not know about the sneaky link. “Oh!” Bronny’s mom exclaimed. “Just be single,” she continued as her co-host agreed.

Pretty Vee has had a pretty hectic few months in the public eye, catching heat for her Sonya Massey comments and other online antics. Moreover, the most recent of these is a new video she uploaded online that depicts her, for lack of a better description, making fun of Asian culture to the tune of Megan Thee Stallion and Yuki Chiba’s “Mamushi.” The comedian dances and salutes in a pretty mocking way, and while it’s clear that it’s just meant as a joke and not an attack, a lot of people didn’t find it very funny. We’ll see if she responds to this backlash in any significant way.

Elsewhere, Pretty Vee recently stepped into the online space to defend B. Simone after a brief and unintentional social media spat with Soulja Boy. “Don’t play with me @souljaboy. You better play with them ones like this but not @thebsimone. Again she said what she said, now WHAT. Pretty Vee Faces Heavy Backlash For Offensive Clip

Back to Pretty Vee, though, she also went viral recently for making fun of her ex Rick Ross’ Vancouver incident with Drake fans during her comedy show. For those who didn’t catch that story, Rozay played Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track at a festival in the city, and allegedly refused to turn it off at folks’ request. Then, a group of OVO die-hards confronted Ross and his entourage, resulting in a fight that the rapper feels the aftermath of to this day. In fact, one of these guys actually released a diss track against him, despite the sad reality that he will probably never respond.

Regardless, it’s not as sad as the reality in which Pretty Vee took things too far with this video. Her beef with Rick Ross will probably keep being a background narrative in their careers. But it’s clear that they can stir up controversy for far less than that. Let’s just hope that the next cultural exchange on Vee’s behalf comes with more respect and explanation.

The R&B singer sparked controversy, yet again, by reigniting an interesting debate over whether the reigning King of R&B Chris Brown is in fact more talented than the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. 

It’s not too crazy of a thought. Chris is that guy. But I understand if you think MJ was, well, the GOAT.

Okay, during a recent appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show, the Grammy-nominated artist ardently argued that Chris Brown has surpassed the legendary King of Pop in talent and versatility. See, right there. The Stephen A. Smith Show. Now we get it.

Here’s the statement:

”Chris Brown is, in fact, better than Michael Jackson.” 

Tank asserted this, surprising sports commentator Stephen A. Smith. But was he?

The chat quickly turned into a lively debate, with Smith expressing his admiration for Jackson and skepticism about Tank’s viewpoint. As many of us have. Skepticism. 

“Tank! Do you understand what you’re saying, my man?” Smith asked incredulously. “I mean, you’re admired, you’re revered, you’re associated with music, my brother. Everybody loves and respects you.”

Tank a strong willed brother, remained unwavering in his belief, using a sports metaphor to elaborate on his perspective. He compared Chris Brown to LeBron James, portraying him as the evolution of music icons like Michael Jackson and Usher. “If there was Magic Johnson, now there is LeBron James,” Tank explained. “We talk about Chris Brown, we’re talking about the evolution of Michael Jackson. The evolution of Usher. The evolution of me. The evolution of Ginuwine. That is what this kid is.”

Gunna Celebrates Young Thug’s Birthday Amid YSL RICO Trial

It goes without saying that Young Thug and Gunna have been through a lot together. Aside from teaming up for various collaborations, they were also both arrested as part of a 56-count RICO case in May of 2022. Young Thug remains behind bars, and his trial is currently underway, whereas Gunna got out in December of that year after accepting a plea deal.

This led to rumors that he “snitched” on his codefendants, though he denies this. Social media users continue to accuse him of being a rat anyway, but Gunna hasn’t let that stop him from putting their friendship on full display. Earlier today, for example, he took to his Instagram Story to share some old photos of the two of them together in honor of Young Thug’s 33rd birthday.

Gunna Shows Love To Young Thug

While fans are glad to see Gunna showing love to Young Thug amid the latter’s longwinded legal battle, this doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. He frequently calls for his release on social media, at his shows, and more. He even featured Young Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., in the “One Of Wun” music video he released this month. Williams Sr. has previously said that Gunna hasn’t done anything to hurt his son’s case, despite critics’ speculation. Moreover, in a chat with XXL in April, Gunna claimed that their friendship hadn’t changed as a result of the plea deal. “It’s the same,” he told the outlet. “It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship.”

As for Young Thug’s trial, it doesn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon. Last week, a clip of the rapper falling asleep in court even made its rounds online, proving that he’s just as exhausted as one would expect.
