Judge Dismisses Charges Against Two Former Cops Involved In Breonna Taylor’s Murder

The Breonna Taylor case just got a massive update, as federal U.S. District Court Judge Charles Simpson reportedly dismissed charges against two former police officers involved in the raid on her house in which cops murdered her. Former detective Joshua Jaynes and former officer Kyle Meany were charged with “submitting a false affidavit” back in 2022, which is what prompted the raid in the first place. Also, they faced accusations of fabricating a “false cover story in an attempt to escape responsibility for their roles” in designing the search warrant with “false information.” These initial charges reportedly could’ve resulted in life sentences. According to TMZ, neither officer was there during the raid.

Furthermore, on Thursday (August 22), Judge Simpson reportedly claimed that this search warrant did not cause Breonna Taylor’s death. Rather, Simpson attributed her murder to her boyfriend Kenneth Walker and how he shot at officers, and characterized this as the “legal cause” of her death. “There is no direct link between the warrantless entry and Taylor’s death,” the ruling reportedly reads. “Taylor’s death was proximately caused by the manner in which the warrant was executed.

“[Kenneth Walker’s] decision to open fire, as alleged and argued, was the natural and probable consequence of executing the warrant at 12:45 a.m. on ‘an unsuspecting household,’” the ruling reportedly continued concerning Breonna Taylor. “That decision prompted the return fire, which hit and killed Taylor.” Per TMZ, former detective Jaynes still faces “two counts of falsification of records, conspiracy to falsify records, and witness tampering” charges in this case. On the other hand, Meany faces “one charge of [making a] false statement to federal investigators.” He and Jaynes could serve up to five and 40 years respectively if found guilty.

“Louisville police is different,” EST Gee shared last year. “You know how n***as teach them to not like the police? I don’t want to say his name. He was involved in the Breonna Taylor s**t, one of the police officers. When I was little, he walked [into] a group of us home at gunpoint, on my granny. She lived in Turtle Creek. One of the dudes from the Breonna Taylor [murder]. So I had my own experience early. The police, they ain’t never helped me.”

Social media users are now weighing in on GloRilla’s use of the word on X, revealing whether or not they believe it’s acceptable. While most agree that it’s not, others argue that it’s not a big deal, as long as it’s not used to describe someone who actually has an intellectual disability.

DaniLeigh’s DUI Hit-And-Run Arrest Footage Surfaces: “I’m A Singer!”

In May of last year, DaniLeigh was arrested near Miami Beach for a hit-and-run. Reportedly, she hit a 17-year-old victim who was riding a moped, leaving him with various injuries. She was charged with a DUI causing serious injury, as well as three additional charges. She pleaded no contest to two of the charges in February and was sentenced to five years probation. Her other two charges, leaving the scene of a crime and another DUI charge, will be dismissed if she completes her probation.

Now, bodycam footage of her arrest has surfaced online, revealing exactly what took place only moments after the hit-and-run. In it, she argues with an officer while being taken away in handcuffs. “I’m a singer, you can’t arrest me,” she explained. “Okay?” the officer responded, sounding unimpressed.

DaniLeigh Argues With Officer During Arrest

Obviously, this wasn’t very persuasive to the police, and she was taken to jail anyway. At another point in the footage, DaniLeigh is seen sitting on the curb as an officer reprimands her for laughing despite the seriousness of the situation. Interestingly enough, Quavo even popped up briefly at this point, though it’s unclear exactly why he was there. “Yeah that’s Quavo, the Migos,” she told one of the cops. “Those are my boys.”

Reportedly, DaniLeigh took a Breathalyzer, which proved that her blood alcohol content was almost twice the legal limit. Her alleged victim reportedly suffered a lacerated kidney and a fractured spine. Shortly after the incident, he filed a civil lawsuit against her. Sure, much of that infamy these days attributes itself to his scathing takedowns of another rap mogul, Diddy, but don’t let that distract you from his film and television empire. Moreover, Fif recently caught flack from fans who accused him of opening a G-Unit production studio in Shreveport, Louisiana only for it being a “cheap deal.” While speaking to KMJJ’s Anthony “Big Ant” Simmons, he laughed off this idea and explained not only why he made the decision, but why the logic behind this argument is a deeply flawed one. No matter what side you stand on, it seems like G-Unit is staying in Louisiana. Nevertheless, they did consider Houston, as well.

“[Houston] embraced me. When I got out there, they showed me a lot of love,” 50 Cent shared. “But Shreveport had the infrastructure already here. Even the tax incentive. I’m spending $20 million this year anyway in the same building that they saying was the cheap building. So find somebody else to spend the $20 million…They don’t have anyone who has enough production going on for them to just offset that.”

50 Cent Refutes Claims That He Picked Shreveport For A Production Studio Due To Being Cheap

Also, Simmons praised 50 Cent’s commitment to filming 80 percent of all his productions in Shreveport as part of this deal. As they both noted, this would “eject a lot more money” into the city on top of the hype concerning pretty much any 50 project. However, this isn’t all that was criticized when it comes to G-Unit’s Louisiana presence. The Queens superstar actually went back and forth with Hurricane Chris over critiques of his Humor & Harmony Weekend Festival in the city.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent does have some defenders out there when it comes to these criticisms, including Fredo Bang. These are just the consequences of having such a wide media reach. But we’ll see if any future moves inspire a similar gut reaction or if people appreciate these moves more. Katherine Jackson’s Attempt To Stop $600M Sale Of Micheal Jackson’s Music Catalog Denied by Judge

Katherine Jackson, legendary mom of Michael Jackson, had her appeal denied in a legal effort to stop the sale of half of her late son’s music catalog to Sony for $600 million. A Los Angeles judge ruled on August 21 that the sale aligns with the terms of Michael Jackson’s trust, dismissing Katherine Jackson’s objections as lacking merit.

Lawyers for Katherine Jackson argued that Michael had expressed a desire for his assets to remain within the family before his death. However, the judge pointed to Michael’s will, which grants his executors full control over his estate.

Get this, the court filing states, “The will gave the executors broad powers of sale, with no exception for the specific assets at issue in this case… the probate court did not err in concluding that it was Michael’s intent to allow the executors to sell any estate assets, including those at issue in the proposed transaction.”

This ruling is but the latest in the ongoing legal conflict between Katherine Jackson and the co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate, attorney John Branca and A&R executive John McClain. Earlier in February 2023, it was reported that the estate was looking to sell half of the music catalog, with Sony Music among the potential buyers. Despite Katherine Jackson’s protests, the executors had received court approval to proceed with the sale.

So basically, pertaining to Michael Jackson’s will, his estate is to be passed down to the Michael Jackson Family Trust, with his three children—Prince, Paris, and Bigi—as the beneficiaries.

Big money talk. Not going the way everyone wants, so it seems.

Moreover, new footage recently emerged of a 2022 traffic stop in which a police officer pulled him and Ken Carson over for going 84MPH in a 35 zone. In the clip below, Iggy Azalea’s ex explained that they were “trying to get straight back home” with a female in the backseat who spoke unintelligibly. Then, he stepped out of the vehicle to continue the processing, and eventually got back to his vehicle. All in all, not the worst celebrity pull-over we’ve seen.

Elsewhere, though, Playboi Carti is catching flack instead of engagement due to his high placement in Complex‘s best Atlanta rappers list (at number 12). “I can’t get jiggy with that,” B. But B. Dot isn’t the only rap-adjacent commentator with some critical smoke for Playboi Carti, although this next example is much more personal. You may recall that Adin Ross invited him for a livestream which transpired for all of a couple of minutes before the rapper dipped, allegedly finessing him out of millions of dollars. In fact, “King Vamp” even seemed to reference this on a recently leaked song, as he seemed to include a call between him and Ross on the intro. We doubt that this particular version of the song will ever come out, but a bag is a bag, so who knows what happens?

But beyond all this criticism and speeding incidents, Playboi Carti fans remain very excited for what he’s got for fans. In fact, this might relate not just to his long-awaited album, but to some other collaborative and performance updates. The “FE!N” duo teased a “OOCACTUS” concert, and Carti and Travis Scott electrified die-hards with this hint. For the sake of preserving surprises, we wouldn’t put any money on this actually going down, but fans can dream…
