Maxo Kream Gives A Touching Tribute To His Father On “No Then You A H*e”

These past couple of weeks have had to be tough for Maxo Kream. The longtime Texas rapper recently lost his father, Emekwanem Biosah Sr., on Sunday February 25. He shared a sad but thankful post on his Instagram, appreciating everything he had taught him throughout their relationship. The rap community came out in droves to support the mourning Maxo and it was great to see them come together and reach out. After letting this settle, he had decided to return by dropping a tribute to his pops with a single. “No Then You A H*e” is a spectral-like track, but it is also beautiful at the same time.

Maxo raps, “Real street legend, to me you was my papa though / Heart attack, a couple stroke, blood pressure, dementia / Papa Maxo was a soldier and through me forever livin’.” “No Then You A H*e,” as we mentioned, has a haunting feeling but it fits the tone to a tee. With its very faint drums and choral-esque vocals, it helps you get lost in the lyrics in a good way.

However, this is not the only solid drop from Maxo Kream lately. He and rising star evilgiane have been cooking up some stuff in the studio. “Bang The Bus” was about what the title says, but it had some inventive production. Furthermore, tracks like “Whatchamacallit” and “Bonecrusher” were both fun collaborations with Luh Tyler and Key Glock, respectively. Hopefully, Maxo can keep this up and deliver an album soon. Our continued condolences go to him and the rest of his family and friends.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “No Then You A H*e,” by Maxo Kream? Is this one of his strongest tracks lately, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Do you think he is going to be dropping a new album this year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. NBA YoungBoy Tones Things Down On “When We Slide” With DDAWG

NBA YoungBoy’s 2024 is shaping up to be another year of steady releases. Just this past weekend, the raspy and gritty rapper put out his first tape of the year, Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain. Word from the rumor mill is that this project is a precursor to a different LP. There is no word on when that will drop, though. While we wait on that, we are here to talk about NBA YoungBoy and his song “When We Slide.”

However, he is not alone on this cut. His friend and fellow rapper DDAWG joins him here and only one of them is bringing a lot of energy. You would think YB would be delivering his usual shouty cadence, but the opposite is true. Instead, he opts for a more subdued delivery. He has songs like this in discography, but not enough of them.

Listen To “When We Slide” By NBA YoungBoy & DDAWG

DDAWG is the one who gives this track some muscle, as he proudly steps in and raps like the rent is due. Unfortunately, they were most likely not able to record this in the studio together. According to Urban Islandz, he was arrested for accidentally killing a passenger during a police chase. The crash caused the death and some injuries to DDAWG. That happened all the way back in 2022 in September and it is certainly not his only run-in with the authorities. Not many updates have surfaced around his situation, but that is because his bond was reported to be nearly $20 million.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “When We Slide,” by NBA YoungBoy and DDAWG? Is this one of his strongest tracks of from Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Who had the stronger performance and why? What other tracks are you gravitating toward? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Matt Champion Recruits Blackpink’s Jennie For “Slow Motion”

Former Brockhampton member Matt Champion kicked off 2024 with a bang, unveiling his song “Aphid” in February. Later that month, he dropped a danceable track called “Slug,” paving the way for even more to come. Now, the Texas-born performer has come through with yet another dreamy single, this time teaming up with K-pop icon Jennie.

The Blackpink superstar lends her hypnotic vocals to the otherwise electronic track. Lyrics center around wishing time would stand still, allowing moments with a loved one to last a lifetime. The track was produced by Matt Champion, Henry Kwapis, Dijon, and other “close collaborators,” according to a press release.

Mika’s Laundry Arrives March 22

The melancholy song certainly delivers the bright, fresh atmosphere one would hope for on a pre-spring release, and has managed to leave fans hoping for more. Fortunately, it won’t be too much longer before fans hear another release from Matt Champion, as the hitmaker has also recently announced a new full-length project. His debut solo album, dubbed Mika’s Laundry, is slated for release on March 22.

“Slow Motion” additionally arrives alongside an accompanying music video. In the simple, trippy visual, viewers watch a close-up shot of an eyeball reacting to flashing lights. The video was directed by Anna Pollack, who also directed Matt Champion’s “Aphid” and “Slug” music videos, which he unveiled in February. What do you think of Matt Champion’s new track with Blackpink’s Jennie? Do you think the two of them should collaborate again in the future? Will you be adding “Slow Motion” to your playlist? TisaKorean Goes Absolutely Wild On New Single “UCCI”: Stream

TisaKorean is hopping back into the rap game in 2024 with his first release of the year, the wild new single “UCCI” and its accompanying music video. The “Rando” entertainer -– known for his rapping, his singing, and his dancing -– came through with an above all vibrant song that feels like ear candy in an almost annoying way, like a lot of great and fun rap songs tend to me. This is thanks to a high-pitched, nasal, and fast-flowing vocal performance that pairs up perfectly with the synth-heavy and rapid trap beat. The chorus melody will definitely get stuck in your head for an unspecified amount of time, and it’s a little over two minutes that wastes no time in kicking things off with a bang and keeping the energy on high for the whole duration.

Furthermore, this is exactly the kind of style that made fans fall in love with the Houston rapper in the first place. For example, earlier cuts like “GRoCERIES” or “Spongy” showed off his personality in a big way, and made his impactful entrance in the game all the more colorful. But TisaKorean’s stayed pretty prolific since then, and with cuts like “UCCI” as our example, it’s clear that he’s having as much fun as ever with his current material. As far as the music video below, it’s pretty much your standard rap video fare with a little more effects and aesthetic variations, plus different camera qualities and perspectives. But the real highlight here is just how effectively he was able to make this simple and almost annoyingly overblown song into something engaging.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see the 29-year-old collaborate with other artists for more long-form efforts to push his craft a bit forward. After all, Hope v2 with Sunny Galactic was a nice treat of an EP, and it’s always great to see how artists can pull each other into their worlds. Here’s hoping there’s some more evolution on the way for TisaKorean that’s as fun as “UCCI.” If you haven’t heard this new track yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and check out the music video above. Elcamino Asks Boldy James, Real Bad Man & Black Soprano Family For “No Fighting” On New Single: Stream

As far as killer posse cuts this week, Elcamino brought on a great team for the new single “No Fighting.” Moreover, he’s lyrically assisted by Boldy James on the cut, with production from fashion brand and music collective Real Bad Man and in collaboration with Camino’s Black Soprano Family label headed by Benny The Butcher. BSF has led to many great projects in the past few years such as They Spit On Jesus, whereas Boldy’s history with RBM is exemplified by some excellent LPs and EPs. As such, it’s no wonder that this track ends up feeling cohesive, full of chemistry, and like another great effort from everyone involved.

As far as the production, it’s a bit more old-school and deliberately boom-bap-inspired than some of Griselda’s affiliates’ more popular, drumless work. Nevertheless, the MCs here are able to glide with ease on the beat, accentuated by a ghostly, organ-like keyboard notes hanging in the background. Occasional vocal sample chops structure out the loop a bit further, and the short length of “No Fighting” doesn’t feel neither barebones nor stretched out. As for the lyrical performances, Elcamino is a bit more lively and charismatic on here with some funny turns of phrase and more blunt lyricism. On the other hand, the “Live From The Roxy” spitter from Detroit comes across as more clever, calculated, and vivid when it comes to his word choice, descriptions, delivery, and punchlines.

KILLY Continues To Build Hype Around Himself On “ALL CAPS”

KILLY has been talked about a lot here on the website as of the past few months or so. Since late 2023, the Canadian multi-hyphenate has been consistently feeding his fanbase with a single here, a two-pack there, and even an EP. We just talked about him about two weeks ago with his record “GLEE.” Now, KILLY is back to keep up the pace with “ALL CAPS.”

All of this music has us wondering when KILLY is going to finally pull the trigger on releasing an album. He is always ready to drop stuff like POP 2 or K3. However, it has been two years since his last LP Crazy Life of Sin. What also makes this steady stream of material intriguing is that he is currently on an overseas tour.

It is taking place across Europe as he will be performing in Budapest today. As for the song, “ALL CAPS” is another song drenched in vocal effects. However, this one is doing a little too much and it just sounds a bit sloppy. But, it is good to see the incredible amount of support from his fans. “Killy been flooding lately, excited 4 his next project,” one person commented underneath the audio above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “ALL CAPS,” by KILLY? Is this one of his better songs as of late, why or why not? JELEEL! Switches Up His Sound “SEE ME NOW!”

Nigerian American rapper JELEEL! is one of the more energetic artist’s in hip-hop. His sound is perfect for big parties and ragers of all sorts. Last year saw him return after a four-year album hiatus with REAL RAW! last May. For 2024, he has already put out “I LOOK GOOD!,” which delivers his trademark zany cadence. Now, JELEEL! is back with a follow-up “SEE ME NOW!”

While the Rhode Island native does like to use auto tune in his music, it is used to greater effect here. It is all over the repetitive chorus. However, we cannot deny that it is does have a nice melody to it. Additionally, JELEEL! is going into his high-pitched singing cadence instead of his husky rapping delivery.

While it does not sound bad, it is hard to ignore that he sounds like Tory Lanez when he goes into his R&B bag. Again though, it is a vibey tune that is not bad by any means. It just is not as original as his other material. But be sure to support it by checking out the video above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “SEE ME NOW!,” by JELEEL!? Is this one of his better songs as of late, why or why not? Is REAL RAW! still in your rotation, why or why not? Fridayy’s Deep & Soothing Voice Is A Treat On His New Ballad “Without You”

Rappers are spoiled these days when it comes to having options for a R&B feature. Artists like The Weeknd, Sampha, Summer Walker, SZA, and 6LACK, are just a handful of terrific selections. They can really transform and elevate the listening experience of any track and we have it seen it happen time and time again. Another name that needs to be added to that never-ending list is Fridayy, especially after his new single “Without You.”

He is of Haitian and American descent who is from Pennsylvania. He is not a rookie on the site by any means. However, he certainly does not get the same shine and appreciation for his work. He is a master when it comes to blending hip-hop, R&B, gospel, and Afrobeats. “Without You” sees Fridayy take elements of the second and the latter.

You truly feel his heart breaking a little bit, especially with his patented baritone delivery. Be sure to check out Fridayy’s latest offering above, you will not be let down.

Quavo & Rich The Kid Don’t Totally Hit The Mark On “Real One”

Quavo and Rich The Kid are two of the bigger names we have going in modern hip-hop. Both have their fair share of solid hit songs in their solo discography and have done quite a bit for the genre. 2024 has already been a productive year for the frequent collaborators. Of course, their biggest moments so far are their features on VULTURES 1.

Fans were pretty upset about how Quavo was treated on the eventual release of “FUK SUMN.” He was replaced by Travis Scott, but he did still make it onto “PAPERWORK.” For Rich The Kid, he has been enjoying staying at the top of the charts with “CARNIVAL,” easily the biggest banger from the record. Additionally, he has exciting stuff coming down the line. One third of the Rich Forever group is going to be dropping his first solo album in four years with Life’s a Gamble.

He will also be rejoining Jay Critch and Famous Dex possibly this year for the fifth Rich Forever tape. For now, he and Quavo are teaming up once more for a lackluster cut, “Real One.” It is unfortunate to say, but there is not anything to memorable about it. It is certainly passable, but not much more. This single follows up “Himothy” from the last week of February.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Real One,” by Quavo and Rich The Kid? Is this the better of the two tracks from the former Migos rapper, why or why not? Where does this rank amongst the rest of their collaborations? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Mick Jenkins Teams Up With Thelonious For Dark, Jazzy Cut “Yuck Freestyle”

One of the reasons Mick Jenkins is so versatile as an artist is that he fit on top of any production and kill it. While some might think that having a gritty and loud delivery could put you in a box, he makes it work. But that is not to say that the Alabama native cannot dial it back either. It was one of the main reasons why The Patience was such a success. His 2023 album contains some of the strongest rap records of the year such as “Show & Tell,” “Farm to Table,” “Smoke Break-Dance,” and more. In 2024, Mick Jenkins has been prolific with the features lately and he continues that hot streak with “Yuck Freestyle.”

Here, the veteran MC brings his wild trademark cadence to a dark and jazzy beat. The lead artist on this cut is Thelonious. He is making his debut on the HNHH site and unfortunately, there is not too much information on him. However, after doing some digging it appears he hails from Canada. Additionally, Thelonious has been releasing material since 2020.
