JP Proves He Is A Unique Talent With Milwaukee Rap Banger “Freak Girl”

JP is a name that you will be hearing a lot more of over the coming months. Overall, this is thanks to his single “Bad Bitty,” which has been blowing up online. Although the song is a few months old at this point, it really blew up thanks to his From The Block performance. The song is known for being incredibly catchy and danceable. Furthermore, JP has an infectious energy and some hilarious lyrics. He isn’t looking to take himself extremely seriously, and fans love to see things like that. Not to mention, he is from Milwaukee, which is a city with a whole movement behind it right now.

With the success of “Bad Bitty,” JP has been in the studio cooking up, and a couple of weeks ago, he dropped off the banger “Freak Girl.” This is a track that samples Gravity Falls, which is an example of how Milwaukee producers love to use unique samples that some would figure have no place on a rap song. However, on “Freak Girl,” the sampling and the overall aesthetic certainly work well. Not to mention, JP is full of charisma, and the song just works as he talks about the women he wants to get with.

Overall, this style certainly may not be for everyone. However, it is the type of track that just work at the club, and will put a smile on some people’s faces. Lil Nas X Drops “Lean On My Body” 2 Years After Teasing It

He previewed a song called “Lean On My Body” on March 22, 2022 via TikTok, but the full version never came out. Until now, that is. Lil Nas X has finally released the full version of “Lean On My Body,” and it delivers on the hype of being one of the rapper’s most sought-after snippets.

“”Lean On My Body” is produced by Take a Daytrip and Jasper Harris. The former duo has a stellar track record with Lil Nas X, producing the smash singles “Industry Baby” and “Montero.” The new song falls in line with these earlier singles, courtesy of a bubbly instrumental and a catchy melody. The rapper evokes Christianity in his verses, which he did to controversial effect in his last single, “J CHRIST.” The chorus doubles down on the Christian imagery, dishing out vocal runs reminiscent of a gospel choir. “Lean on my body, Lord,” X sings. “Bring blessings on my soul. And when the war is over, see it’s time to tell the world the war is won.”

03 Greedo Drops Off Two-Pack “Rico” With Maxo Kream Feature

Los Angeles, California rapper 03 Greedo is one of the grittier rappers from the West Coast as he thrives on dropping street bangers. Additionally, he is extremely hardworking, pumping single after single, and project after project. 2024 proves that point, as the veteran MC has already put out a handful of collaborations with artists like evilgiane for example. The amount of solo material has also been impressive, as he has dropped a project exclusively on Soundcloud called F*** EVERYBODY. Now, he is gearing up perhaps for another tape sometime in the near future. Not too long ago, 03 Greedo dropped a new single called “Rico” with a feature from Texas rapper Maxo Kream.

These two have a past work relationship that dates back to 2018. 03 and Maxo first teamed up for the former’s album Punken on “ATW.” Then, in 2019, they reunited for 03 and Kenny Beats collab tape Netflix & Deal for the song “Beg Your Pardon.” Their most recent output came just last year with “Buss Me A Script.”

Numerous reports, including from us, discovered that Snoop Dogg was resharing some clips from other rap icons and current stars all asking similar questions. “Dog, I gotta question: what happened to Tha Dogg Pound? I heard they broke up, is that true? That’s what I heard.” Those were the words of Swizz Beatz, but others such as Tyrese Gibson, Flavor Flav, and NLE Choppa were sending in the same inquiries. Well, we have now come to learn that those FaceTime calls were being compiled for a single from Tha Dogg Pound called “Smoke Up.”

It all makes sense when you watch the music video below. They were all chopped together before Snoop finally comes in and shuts down the breakup rumors. “Damn, everybody sayin’ the same s*** huh. Well, check this out. F*** what you heard.” It then cuts to a G-funk banger with the trio sporting matching tracksuits.

Lupe Fiasco has been playing the role of pot stirrer over the past few weeks or so. The legendary lyricist from the Windy City has been practically egging on Kendrick Lamar to respond to him. The “Show Goes On” MC cleared up the meaning behind a string of tweets that he was one of the rappers to apologize publicly to K-Dot. Essentially, he was really walking back his decision because he felt he did not need to be involved. He did not try to deny that he felt Lamar is just “solid.” Lupe Fiasco also subliminally took shots at Lamar during his time on the Coachella stage, and his new single “Indio” is partially based on that.

In the middle of his performance, Lupe announced that he is willing to go toe to toe with any rapper. “I don’t give a f*** how many records you sold. If you want smoke, I swear on my muthaf***in soul, I will walk through n****s. I will chew up n****s, I will body muthaf***as,” Lupe exclaimed. Also during his time slot, the prideful rapper announced his new album Samurai is going to be out sometime this summer, according to HipHopNMore.

Rod Wave Updates An Older Track With “Numb”

Rod Wave has gone through a little bit of a rough patch in his life. Earlier this month, the Florida rapper and singer was arrested after weapons and/or ammo were found on his person. This arrest was escalated based on the fact that the multi-hyphenate was previously charged with felony battery charges, even though they were dropped. As a felon, you are not allowed to carry weapons. However, Rod was back in the clear after police did some extra digging. It turned out that it was “not accurate,” so he was released from his jail cell shortly after being put in handcuffs.

With that messy situation behind him, Rod Wave has been comfortable enough to get back into the recording booth. Case and point, this new single from him called “Numb.” This is Rod’s first piece of music since his acclaimed 2023 record Nostalgia. However, you are not going to find the song on streaming, as it is only on YouTube as of now.

Chief Keef, Mike WiLL Made-It, & Sexyy Red Drop Off Music Video For “DAMN SHORTY”

Just over a month ago, Chief Keef and Mike WiLL Made-It, collaborated with Trap-A-Holics for their long-awaited mixtape DIRTY NACHOS. The rapper and producer tandem had been building up to this project for about a few years. In fact, the first single to be released for the project officially was “LOVE DON’T LIVE HERE,” which hit streaming platforms all the way back on June 15, 2021. Then, just a couple of months later of that same year, “HARLEY QUINN” dropped. Things would not ramp up again for the tape until February of this year with the self-titled track. Now, Keef and Mike are dropping the first music video and “DAMN SHORTY” is the first track up to bat.

The song had one of just three features on the 18-song tracklist and Sexyy Red was one of them. This marked the third time that Red and Keef collaborated. Before, the Chicago influencer laid down vocals for one track off the Hood Hottest Princess (Deluxe). That was “Ghetto Princess,” but Keef also contributed to a remix of “(F My Baby Dad)” called “Bow Bow Bow (F My Baby Mama).”

The “DAMN SHORTY” music video sees Keef heading to gas stations and enjoying what appears to be a boujee dinner with Sexyy Red and Mike WiLL. Myaap & Chicken P Are “Actin Up” On Their New Single

One of the dominant lanes of hip-hop right now is trap rap without a doubt. A subset of the long-running subgenre that has become increasingly more popular is ratchet rap. The female MCs have grown this area quite substantially over the past couple of years or so. Artists like Sexyy Red, Sukihana, Erica Banks, Stunna Girl, and City Girls, are just a handful of them. Someone you will want to add to that list is Myaap. She hails from the unsuspecting city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she has been gaining some steam recently. The last and only time we have covered her work happened back in January.

Myaap worked alongside MG Sleepy for a quirky trap cut called “I Ain’t Hidin.” It featured one of the catchier cadences we have heard all year, and it is one we encourage you give a try. As for “Actin Up,” Myaap is teaming up with another up and comer, Chicken P. Where we think “I Ain’t Hidin” works for us is the creativity and carefree nature.

“Actin Up” feels more like a carbon copy of what Sexxy Red is doing right now. That of which is the nonchalant, booty shaking club bangers. While Myaap is certainly not the only artist to present her art in this way, deviating from her avant-garde-like style might be something to reconsider. This is not a bad song by any means, but it could get lost in the shuffle.
