SZA Promises To Release “More” Music Before The End Of 2024

SZA had a rollercoaster of a Friday. She delayed the release of LANA (SOS Deluxe) at the last possible minute. She dropped the album roughly 12 hours later than expected, but it was worth the wait. The new deluxe edition came with an entire album’s worth of material, including a Kendrick Lamar feature. It was enough to satiate any hardcore SZA fan. The most exciting part of the singer’s rollout, though, is that she isn’t done. She got on Twitter the evening she dropped and claimed that she has more music on deck for 2024.

It may be surprising, the idea of new music after it took SZA two years to drop LANA (SOS Deluxe), but that is what the singer is promising. She told fans that “new treats” were on the way, and added that TDE label boss Punch has given her the green light. “Punch gave the go ahead to purge and drop all songs,” SZA wrote in a separate tweet. “More things are on the way.” You wouldn’t be judged for thinking SZA is merely hyping up new material, and won’t actually drop before the end of the year. We’ve seen it before, and in the case of Playboi Carti, we’re still seeing it. But SZA provided even more info on songs to come.

SZA Will Drop Again On Christmas Or New Year’s Eve

SZA posted a screenshot of a text conversation between her and Punch. “King being kind n finna let me purge it all,” she tweeted. “Yes I’m secretly begging for more than this lmao everybody say thank you.” It certainly does seem like the singer is pushing for more songs to see the light of day. The screenshot has SZA referencing specific songs by name. She asks Punch if she can drop songs called “PSA,” “Take You Down” and “Open Arms.” The TDE boss responded by issuing a slight delay. He told the singer to wait a week or so before dropping again.

“I think we should def let this breath for a week at least,” Punch asserted. “Give it to them for New Year’s or Christmas.” Punch has been pretty communicative with both SZA and the fans during the LANA (SOS Deluxe) rollout. He claimed it was his fault the album was delayed by half a day. He did, however, make a joke about SZA after she posted the text screenshot. Punch quote tweeted the singer and wrote: “Aiight. Somebody get her phone.”

Kendrick Lamar Appears To Diss Drake On New SZA Song “30 For 30”

Kendrick Lamar and SZA have been a dynamic duo over the past few months. SZA had two standout appearances on Lamar’s album, GNX. They announced plans for a Grand National co-headlining tour in 2025. Now, Lamar has returned the favor and dropped a guest verse on SZA’s LANA (SOS Deluxe). It’s the lone feature on album, and sure enough, it has some subliminal disses packed into it. Lamar appears to go at someone SZA is friendly with, and all signs point to the target being Drake (again).

Kendrick Lamar’s verse appears on the song “30 for 30.” The rapper makes fun of someone SZA is close with, asserting they are more feminine than she is. “You f*ckin’ with n**gas that’s thinkin’ they cuter than you,” Lamar spits. “Say you on your cycle but he on his period too.” Drake was romantically involved with SZA at one point. The two also worked together on two huge singles in 2023, “Slime You Out” and “Rich Baby Daddy.” Drake went as far as to claim that SZA had Kendrick Lamar “wiped down” on his scathing Lamar diss “Push Ups.” Obviously, SZA has decided to back her former TDE brother in the battle.

Kendrick Lamar And SZA Repurposed A Drake Song Title

There are other Kendrick Lamar bars littered throughout “30 for 30” that could be aimed at Drake. He claims his unnamed target is tender by rapping: “the tenderness of ’em, mistaking ’em for some waygu.” Then there’s the bar: “the tables been turnin’ so much, I was thinkin’ its foosball.” Another stray that is very easy to apply to Drake, given that many have claimed Lamar has usurped him in popularity. Then there’s the title of the song. “30 for 30” is, famously, the name of a Drake song from 2015. Granted, he added the word “freestyle” to his song, but this does not seem like a coincidence.

Kendrick Lamar’s added subliminals make sense, assuming they are aimed at Drake. The 6 God has launched a legal case against UMG and Spotify over the success of Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Drake claims that the streaming numbers for Lamar’s biggest hit were “artificially inflated.” It doesn’t take a close look to infer who Lamar’s bars about being “cute” and tender could be aimed at.

IDK’s “Flow” Lives Up To Its Title And Then Some

IDK is bringing one hard-hitting “FLOW” to his new single. It clocks in at just 1:46, but it’s one of his best pure rapping performances of the year. Right now, there’s no clear intention for what this song is for. There’s a very strong chance that’s a little loosie for the hardcore fans. However, there’s a slimmer possibility that he could be working a deluxe version of his most recent album, BRAVADO + INTiMO. His fifth studio project landed back on Halloween and has received a lot of praise from his supporters. Critically, it has done so-so, but we would be lying if we said there aren’t some solid cuts on the 12-song project.

With the end of the year in sight, if a bonus edition does come, it will most likely be a 2025 release. But we aren’t going to speculate anymore for now. Let’s talk about “FLOW,” because we are really impressed with the pockets he’s hitting. Being able to have a strong command of this skill is vital to any rapper’s success, a point that IDK agrees with right from the jump. “The flow is the answer,” he says on the brief record’s chorus. He’s essentially on a slip-n-slide on “FLOW,” especially with the brisk tempo of the instrumental which is loose and fun. Gunna Mellows Out With Catchy New Single “GOT DAMN”

Gunna has taken lots of hits in the last year. The rapper has done an excellent job of keeping his head down and dropping music that his fans love, though. Gunna serves up consistent music to vibe out to, whether it’s an aggressive vibe or a mellowed out one. “GOT DAMN,” his new single, falls in the second camp. The title may suggest a wild trap anthem, but the song is actually one of the more laid back and contemplative releases Gunna has dropped in quite a while.

The instrumental is minimal and relaxing. It’s catchy in a subtle way. A kick drum coming in and out are pretty much the only variations we get, but it works. Gunna, meanwhile, reflects on his life and the ways in which it can be psychologically draining. The chorus is both catchy and indicative of how exhausted he has been since becoming a star. “On and off the jet, god damn (Damn),” he raps. “I don’t get no rest, god damn (Damn). I want my respect, god damn, I been running up a check, yeah, yeah (Up a check).” Gunna doesn’t drop any dense bars, but he treats fans to cogent bars and a sneaky catchy chorus. We’re eager to see where the rapper goes in 2025.

Trae Tha Truth Details His Concern In New Song

It’s heavy material, but it makes complete sense given the context. Trae Tha Truth claims that he last saw his daughter when she was picked up by her mother. He theorized that the mother is responsible for the young girl’s disappearance. In the Instagram post detailing Truth’s disappearance, Trae went at the mom of his child and criticized her behavior. “She lied to courts,” Trae Tha Truth claimed. “And accused me of assault, sexual assault, threatening my child with a gun and more… Her mom took her and felt it was ok to keep her away from a [sic] active father.”

KA$HDAMI Hypnotizes Listeners With Airy New Single “SEANCE”

KA$HDAMI has a great ear for production. He sounds contemporary, yet harkens back to the airier, cloud rap instrumentals that dominated the early 2010s. He’s managed to put a modern sheen on the style, as evidenced by his catchy new single “SEANCE.” KA$HDAMI rides a start-and-stop instrumental that gives him space to find different flow pockets and drop slick bars around his cash flow. It’s catnip for fans of the rapper, but those unfamiliar with KA$HDAMI will still be able to connect with the stellar chorus.

KA$HDAMI applies the meaning of “SEANCE,” which alludes to communicating with the dead, to his money. “Talk to the money, talk dead, like a seance,” he spits. “T-Talk to the money, talk dead, like a seance.” It’s the sort of earworm that you’ll find yourself rapping along to by the time you’re done with the first listen. The glittering synths on the chorus really put the song over the top. But it’s the outro that proves to be the song’s secret weapon. “SEANCE” slows things down, and takes on an even cloudier vibe during the last 15 seconds. KA$HDAMI has a new album around the corner, and if this single is any indication of what’s in store, then we’re in for a treat.

Dro Kenji Takes Fans On Wild Ride With New Single “Amsterdam”

Rage has really come to define a large chunk of hip hop. The subgenre is built on frenetic beats and unhinged vocals from the likes of Playboi Carti, Yeat, and others. Dro Kenji fits neatly under the rage bill. He possesses the intensity to pull the style off, and his ability to weave in and out of instrumentals that would utterly baffle other rappers is undeniable. “Amsterdam” is the latest Dro Kenji offering, and it proves to be one of his most hypnotic releases to date.

Dro Kenji’s delivery trounces his lyrics. His vocals demand attention from the moment he gets on the track. That said, the rapper has a knack for finding extremely catchy pockets. “She pulled up with two big BBLs, I’m like, Damn, I want that,’” he raps. “I woke up with diamonds in my ears, yeah, I Alex Moss’d ’em. She get freaky often, had me fantasizin’ ’bout it, but I’m capital P.” The way Dro Kenji delivers these bars makes the difference between a passable one and an extremely catchy one. Like we said, though, the production plays a crucial role in making “Amsterdam” success. The synth line that repeats during Dro Kenji’s verses is a masterstroke of simplicity. It’s impossible to listen to this instrumental and not want to bob your head.

Lil Wayne Breaks Silence On Kendrick Lamar’s “Wacced Out Murals” Reference

The Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar conflict has been a fascinating addendum to the Drake and Lamar battle. Lamar has made it clear that he does not respect the 6 God in any regard. Lil Wayne, on the other hand, is someone he grew up listening to. He even rapped about the irony of letting Weezy down on the first song of his new album, GNX. Fans have gone back and forth as to whether the reference was meant to be a diss towards Wayne or a tacit acknowledgment of the fact that he will be playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Lil Wayne’s hometown. Well, Weezy has finally given his two cents on the matter.

Lil Wayne went on The Skip Bayless Show to explain what transpired between him and Kendrick Lamar. He absolved the Compton rapper of any fault in the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show. He did not feel slighted by the fact that Dot referenced him by name on “wacced out murals.” “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud,” Lamar spits. “Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.” Lil Wayne clarified that he had not actually heard the song prior to the Bayless interview. Upon having the lyrics read to him, however, he took it as a sign of mutual respect.

Lil Wayne Took Kendrick Lamar’s Lyrics In Good Faith

“He’s a fan like I’m a fan,” the rapper stated. “He saw like everybody else, he saw how much it meant to me. I think that’s all he mean.” Lil Wayne went to say that he understood what Lamar meant, especially with regard to his hard work. “I understand those words,” Weezy assured the host. “He made it there… His hard work is the reason he made it there.” Wayne’s good faith read of the song makes a lot of sense given that Kendrick Lamar dubbed him the “greatest” in a 2022 interview with The Coveteur.

The Compton rapper, who worked with Wayne on 2018’s “Mona Lisa,” told the outlet that Weezy’s impact on hip hop culture is immeasurable. “We was just huge, still to this day, huge Lil Wayne fans,” he explained. “Lil Wayne is the greatest. Not only because of his music but also because of the culture he put behind it. It was a big part of what he was talking about, so we always hold Wayne in high regards.” Wayne responded to the interview by calling Lamar a “real one” on Twitter.

Luh Tyler Is Getting His “Bandz Up” On Newest Single

Luh Tyler dropping a song like “Bandz Up” is pretty fitting. He’s continued to grow his name thanks to some more hot singles, as well as his debut album, Mr. Skii. 2024 has felt more like a year of bettering his trademark formula. For him that’s executing his gravelly, low-key flows even better than before. Additionally, you can throw in the beat selection and mixing side of things. He’s been choosing crispier and snappier instrumentals, increasing his hit potential even so. He loves to find the dreamy and chill vibes, in addition to the trappier and darker sides of Florida’s soundscape. He’s going for the latter on “Bandz Up,” a pretty self-explanatory track that finds him recalling his wins in rap and in life in general.

In other news regarding the 18-year-old MC was one of many performers at Rolling Loud Miami. Additionally, like a lot of other acts at the music festival, he had a pretty special moment onstage. Luh Tyler posted a joint collage of photos from his time there and in one of the pictures, he brought someone close to him to help him out. His mom can be seen standing side by side with her superstar son and it was easily one of the most wholesome moments from the festival. Also, a talking point in the comments was the fact that he debuted a new hairstyle that’s become synonymous with many Florida rappers. Some were insensitively questioning the decision based on his race, but we are sure he’s letting it roll of his shoulders. Check out “Bandz Up” with the link below.

ASAP Twelvyy Finishes Off The Year Strong With “Ain’t Gon Cry”

ASAP Twelvyy is closing his year with a bang, recently unveiling his new track “Ain’t Gon Cry.” He dropped the mellow song last week alongside a cinematic accompanying music video. “ENDING THE YEAR LIKE I STARTED IT .. IN MY BAGGER VANCE 🧨NOTHING CAN STOP ME🥷🏾 AIN’T GON CRY OUT NOW. RUN IT UP. 💥 MUCH LOVE TO MY TEAM SQUAD FANS FAMILY AND EVERY ONE PUSHING THE MOVEMENT.. THANK YOU,” he wrote of the song on Instagram.

The track itself boasts a laid-back beat and insightful bars. It follows the release of his single “Millennium Puzzle,” which he dropped late last month. It also follows the release of various other singles he shared throughout 2024 including “Verrazzano Vision,” “Bronx Zoo,” “Checkpoint Charlie,” and more. This latest release has fans demanding another full-length project from the NYC rapper, though at the time of writing, it remains unclear whether or not he has anything in the works. “Best song out right now,” one YouTube commenter writes. “It’s just too gooooood,” another says.

Twelvyy’s last full-length release, Kid$ Gotta Eat, arrived in July of 2023. Roughly a year ago, he dropped a deluxe edition of the project featuring the likes of Rome Streetz, ASAP Nast, ASAP Ant, and more.
