Trippie Redd Delivers Blistering Flows And High Energy On “H@E”

Trippie Redd is an artist who fans have a lot of nostalgia for. Overall, this is especially true of those who were teenagers when Trippie was dominating the SoundCloud scene. He came up with artists like XXXTentacion and Tekashi 6ix9ine while forging his own unique sound that resonated with a lot of people. The artist has a dedicated fanbase, and it is a fanbase that has stuck with him through thick and thin. Consequently, it should come as no surprise that Trippie is always looking to bless his fans with new music.

That is exactly what he did on Monday night as he gave fans a new song called “H@E.” While the pronunciation of this song is up for debate, the lyrics of the song may give you some context clues. However, what is important here is the sound of the song, which is certainly exciting. We get some distorted 808s and synths that sound like they could be on the next Opium compilation tape. Meanwhile, Trippie brings an energetic flow to the table that comes complete with some braggadocious lyrics.

Trippe Redd is someone who has the ability to reinvent himself, so it will be interesting to see what he is able to do next. Unfortunately, many artists from the SoundCloud era have faded into obscurity. Although when it comes to Trippie, he has been able to maintain his relevance. He doesn’t do this by adhering to his owns status quo. Instead, he is always changing things up and trying new things. Hopefully, he continues that approach to his art all throughout 2025 and beyond that.

Jack Harlow Closes Out 2024 With Confident New Single, “Tranquility”

Following his last single “Hello Miss Johnson,” Jack Harlow wanted to share one more song with fans before 2024 comes to a close. “Tranquility” – a YouTube exclusive at press time – is a bit of a mission statement for his mindset these days, as he addresses everything from having to cancel his Kentucky festival to not looking for “hip-hop credibility.” In fact, this is one of the Louisville native’s most introspective, revealing, and honest cuts, as he raps about his label asking for a new record amid financial renegotiations and feeling as if he doesn’t have an “indisputable” record or contribution yet.

Many artists, especially those as big as Jack Harlow, would not communicate this type of reflection and conflict. But through some killer rhyme schemes, calm but confident vocal conviction, and tenderly gentle piano chords and vocal samples, he really makes “Tranquility” into a compelling rap cut. Match that up with a recent cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and you have a pretty binary, albeit nonetheless curious sonic direction for whatever comes next.

Perhaps 2025 is the year in which Jack Harlow drops that amazing body of work or result of hard-earned craft that he seeks, and hearing him in this space that avoids complacency is very exciting. He’s a big fan of the culture, and we only hope that this spark inspires him to work on something truly unique and wholly his own. “Tranquility” is a solid beacon to light that path forward, and a necessary reminder that growth is a constant healer.

Redman & Method Man Sound As Good As Ever On “Muddy Waters Too” Cut, “Lalala”

Redman recently released his new album Muddy Waters Too, and old-school hip-hop fans couldn’t be happier with the results. Thanks to energetic flows, sharp bars, bombastic production, and dynamic performances, this is a treat for everyone who loves that classic ’90s boom-bap sound and more flavors as well. One of the easiest highlights to name on this new project is the reunion of one of rap’s most iconic duos, as Reggie and Method Man teamed up once more for “Lalala.”

The funky, brass-heavy, and punchy sample beat on here is a head-bobber, and Redman and Method Man trade off eights with a similar excitement and skill as records like “Fire Ina Hole.” Their rhyme schemes may sound familiar or battle-tested to a veteran ear, but the most engaging part of this song is that both legendary MCs sound like they’re having a lot of fun on it. A lot of other songs on Muddy Waters Too are similarly fiery and grimy, but it’s always nice to hear this vocal contrast in particular. Its seasoned status hasn’t made it lose its luster.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other recent examples of Redman and Method Man keeping a high quality standard late into their careers, such as their “4,3,2,1” collab remix with Black Thought, Common, and Freeway. Furthermore, we can only hope that more bangers and throwback jams will emerge in 2025, as it’s always awesome to see the genre’s greats grow alongside it and present their craft to a whole new generation.

OsamaSon Clears Instagram Account After Multiple Songs Leak Online

OsamaSon has been one of the breakout stars of the 2020s. The rapper dropped his first project during the pandemic, and has steadily built a loyal fanbase ever since. His third EP, Still Slime, dropped near the beginning of the year, but fans have been waiting patiently on his third studio album, JumpOut. The road to JumpOut was complicated, however, on Christmas Eve. Several songs presumably intended to be on the album leaked online. OsamaSon responded by clearing his Instagram account.

OsamaSon’s third album is rumored to be dropping in January 2025, according to Genius. This why fans were shocked by the release of nearly a dozen new songs online the day before Christmas. It’s not really a stretch to infer that these dozen songs were meant to comprise the tracklist of JumpOut. Or at least, a sizable chunk of it. OsamaSon didn’t address the leaks. He merely cleared out the years of posts he had on Instagram. This is a common practice with artists when it comes to album rollouts. Artists like to wipe their social media as a means of signifying a new “era.” The timing of the leak is hard to ignore, though.

OsamaSon Has Suffered Massive Album Leaks In The Past

OsamaSon previewed multiple songs from JumpOut throughout 2024. A quick glance at the Genius page for the album shows 14 new songs, many of which already have transcribed lyrics. Leaks are nothing new for OsamaSon, unfortunately. The rapper has been riddled with internal leaks for the past year and a half. Genius has even compiled two different compilations titled Leaks Tape. Both were put together in 2024, and feature ten songs a piece. The site claims that OsamaSon’s team released the the compilations via an alternate Spotify account.

There was speculation that a hacker uploaded Leaks Tape. VIA Discord claimed that OsamaSon’s team were responsible for the album release, though. The source claimed that the rapper released the album as a means of obtaining streams from already leaked songs. OsamaSon’s leak situation does not appear to be getting any better. Hopefully the latest leak doesn’t cause a delay in the rollout for the upcoming JumpOut album. If you want to listen to the rapper’s last official release, though, you can do so here.

SZA Pens A Drama-Filled Relationship Epic With “Scorsese Baby Daddy”

Crafting songs about one’s emotions is a little trickier than some may realize. On the surface, it looks easy. You are literally singing about your own life and yourself. However, not all songs in this vein are created equal. Some can come across as too surface-level and cringey. But SZA is an artist who can effectively and creatively convey feelings of self-loathing. One reason why she’s so effective with these kinds of tracks is her witty writing and occasional humor. “Scorsese Baby Daddy,” one of the 15 additional cuts to her SOS Deluxe: LANA, is fantastic blending of these two qualities and then some. If you are into film, you know that Martin Scorsese is an expert when it comes to making drama flicks. The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, and Hugo are just a few excellent movies in his portfolio.

SZA likens her love of drama in her own life to Martin’s obsession with the genre on this track and it works like a charm. The instrumental hooks you right away thanks to the meaty guitar strums that give the track a nice punk aesthetic. It gives off angsty teen pop but elevated thanks to SZA’s craftsmanship. Her howling vocals really sell it as well as she asks the man she wants in her life to try and take on her issues. However, SZA is not putting down the idea of changing for the better. “One day, I’ll understand all that it takes to be a lady.”

SZA Has Found Her “Diamond Boy” On New “Lana” Cut

SZA has not been shy about her feelings toward people who love to leak music. “Leaking my music is stealing,” she wrote back in January. “This is my job. This is my life and my intellectual property. You are a f***ing thief, and I promise to put maximum energy into holding everyone accountable to the full extent of the law. I am tired.” Unfortunately, that message was not received by some because songs that were going to land on LANA wound up being scrapped. “Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y’all can keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting ‘Lana’ from scratch. Do not ask me about it again. Thank you.”

Overall, we can understand her frustrations because it’s a big reason why the deluxe to SOS took so long to arrive. Unfortunately, we possibly lost out on some great tracks. But we can say with confidence that SZA still pulled through. “Diamond Boy (DTM)” contributes to LANA‘s greatness and this is a track that was initially teased by the artist directly. Multiple versions are on YouTube, and for the most part, the lyrics and instrumental have roughly remained the same. But the final version definitely sounds the best thanks to seductive guitar-backed instrumental that made the cut. SZA’s lyrics about this passionate love she shares with her man adds to the setting she’s trying to create. It’s another hit for us, and we encourage you to spin it.

Larry June Shares Laid-Back & Addictive Loosie “Treasure Island”

Larry June is one of the kings of vibe in the modern hip-hop era. When he drops a track, project, or feature, you know what you’re going to get most of the time. While we mostly like to see artists expand their range and experiment (especially early on in their career), Uncle Larry is one of the exceptions. At this point, he’s far beyond needing to take any risks. He’s built an established brand and fan base, and most likely any sort of slight tweak to his formula would possibly upset a lot of people. Another reason why we appreciate him is due to his incredibly contagious aura and personality. He oozes confidence, swagger, and opulence. “Treasure Island,” his newest release displays all three of those traits and then some.

Making it an impressive cut is how he manages to do so with the little time June gives himself to play with. It’s just 1:55 long but thanks to the bars and calm production from Jake One (Drake, J. Cole, Chance the Rapper), it pulls it off with ease. We have to especially give a shout out to the latter, though. The wavy sound effects, background kid vocals, and synth-heavy outro all play with the boom-bap aesthetic very nicely. Larry’s bars about chasing success and a lavish lifestyle in the California hills are the cherry on top of the gold-flaked sundae and it’s got us replaying the track over and over. It seems like this will wind up being a loosie, especially based on Larry’s IG post about it. “Had to toss it up. F*** it 🍊🌐” Nonetheless, we enjoy it a lot and we hope that it finds a home on a tape.

G Herbo Gives Fans A Sneak Peek At “Greatest Rapper Alive” Project With “Roc Block”

G Herbo is back and with a project for his hardcore supporters this weekend. The Chicago drill stalwart left off Greatest Rapper Alive, a 16-song effort with one feature (Big Opp) and its executively produced by Oz On The Track. The catch though is that it’s only available on his new self-titled app. It’s available for download on the App Store or on Google Play, however, it’s a little tricky to find on your mobile device. You might have better luck though, so visit the rapper’s website here and give it a shot.

So far, for the people who have been able to get access, they are loving it. Since we don’t want you to miss out on the hype, we got you. Well, G Herbo more so does because he shared one it’s most popular songs to YouTube. It’s called “Roc Block,” which is track number three on the tape. It finds Big Swerv rapping over a soulful sample and trap rap beat with a lot of energy. It’s an empowering anthem about how he got successful, but it also details all of the dark and treacherous things he went through growing up. It’s one of our favorite Herbo tracks of the year for sure, so make sure to spin it below.

SZA Embraces & Acknowledges Her Flaws On “Cry Baby”

SZA fans are finally able to say that LANA, the deluxe of SOS, is finally here. The hinting, teasing, promoting, or whatever you want to call it, was going on for close to two years. Then, when the day did arrive, it wasn’t out immediately. Due to some mixing issues and tweaks, her supporters were really getting anxious. But at 3 p.m. ET, the record made its way onto streaming, and so far, there are some instant hits for us. We already got to a couple of them, with those being “Drive,” “Saturn,” and “30 For 30.” The latter features Kendrick Lamar and it just goes to show how that whenever they link it’s a hit. That song in particular is already sparking some debate online thanks to K. Dot’s verse.

Some think he’s subliminally dissing another rapper, but who really knows. While it’s great that it’s getting all of the attention (for the most part), we wanted to put more people on to “Cry Baby.” For many SZA die-hards this has been a coveted track. Its origins supposedly trace back to a Hyde Park set in London during the summer of this year. Then, it was teased at the end of the full music video for “Drive” yesterday. Now, the completed version is here, and it’s got some great writing and stunning singing, which is what you come to expect from SZA. It finds her taking on her flaws and insecurities and embracing them. Overall, she’s faced a lot of pressure throughout her career; something she acknowledges on the first verse. But the way she was able flip the narrative around on her “Cry Baby” is special. See what we mean by visiting the link below.

SZA Promises To Release “More” Music Before The End Of 2024

SZA had a rollercoaster of a Friday. She delayed the release of LANA (SOS Deluxe) at the last possible minute. She dropped the album roughly 12 hours later than expected, but it was worth the wait. The new deluxe edition came with an entire album’s worth of material, including a Kendrick Lamar feature. It was enough to satiate any hardcore SZA fan. The most exciting part of the singer’s rollout, though, is that she isn’t done. She got on Twitter the evening she dropped and claimed that she has more music on deck for 2024.

It may be surprising, the idea of new music after it took SZA two years to drop LANA (SOS Deluxe), but that is what the singer is promising. She told fans that “new treats” were on the way, and added that TDE label boss Punch has given her the green light. “Punch gave the go ahead to purge and drop all songs,” SZA wrote in a separate tweet. “More things are on the way.” You wouldn’t be judged for thinking SZA is merely hyping up new material, and won’t actually drop before the end of the year. We’ve seen it before, and in the case of Playboi Carti, we’re still seeing it. But SZA provided even more info on songs to come.

SZA Will Drop Again On Christmas Or New Year’s Eve

SZA posted a screenshot of a text conversation between her and Punch. “King being kind n finna let me purge it all,” she tweeted. “Yes I’m secretly begging for more than this lmao everybody say thank you.” It certainly does seem like the singer is pushing for more songs to see the light of day. The screenshot has SZA referencing specific songs by name. She asks Punch if she can drop songs called “PSA,” “Take You Down” and “Open Arms.” The TDE boss responded by issuing a slight delay. He told the singer to wait a week or so before dropping again.

“I think we should def let this breath for a week at least,” Punch asserted. “Give it to them for New Year’s or Christmas.” Punch has been pretty communicative with both SZA and the fans during the LANA (SOS Deluxe) rollout. He claimed it was his fault the album was delayed by half a day. He did, however, make a joke about SZA after she posted the text screenshot. Punch quote tweeted the singer and wrote: “Aiight. Somebody get her phone.”
