Chris Brown Reveals Plans To Release A Single This Summer

R&B singer Chris Brown posted an Instagram story this week, claiming he plans to release a new single this summer. He wrote, “If yall thought I wasn’t going to release a single for the summer …. Think again.” Though no new music has been confirmed, the artist assures fans that they can look forward to adding his single to their summer playlists.

The single would follow Brown’s collaboration with Chlöe Bailey, “How Does It Feel.” Released in February of this year, the single came ahead of Bailey’s debut album. The collab also sparked some debate among social media users, who had a problem with Bailey’s decision to work with Brown. Brown is known to be a controversial figure, based on allegations that he was abusive towards several women in the past.

Chris Brown Tells Fans To “Think Again”

Chris Brown recently performed at Usher’s Lovers & Friends music festival after reports surfaced that the two had gotten into a fight at the artist’s birthday party. Chris Brown and his crew allegedly jumped the musician. Despite claims that Usher was injured from the incident, he performed at his music festival shortly after and appeared unharmed. The alleged incident is said to have surrounded disrespect targeted at Teyana Taylor. Actress Lisa Raye later defended Brown, saying in an interview, “Why he gotta chill? Why he gotta chill?” She added, “What if he felt just like what he said? ‘F her.’ What if he felt like that? What I don’t like about it is that every time his name is brought up, that he always gets automatically blamed. Because, ‘He is that way.’ We know him to be that, so it gotta be him.”

Brown also went on to engage in a verbal altercation backstage at the festival, over accusations that he attacked Usher. He later downplayed the incident on Instagram, saying, “Yall been geeked all weekend, y’all dragging it now.” The singer then added, “It was mad people backstage and security was trying to clear everyone off the stage. People started pushing back.. I INTERVENED To let them know MY CHILD WAS BACK THERE. So y’all can keep ya narrative.”

Symba Shares “Top G” Single After Speaking Out On Ja Morant Scandal

Symba is one of the most exciting voices from the Bay Area, and on Friday (May 19) he showed off that skill in a couple of different ways. First, he shared his boisterous, triumphant, and perceptive new track “Top G,” in which he spits about the life he came from and the contrast from the life he lives now. In fact, he takes specific aim at the differences between living a street-oriented life in rap and how rappers can make even more money from it as a result. Over a horn-heavy beat and booming bass and percussion, the 24-year-old rhymer gave fans a focused, well-paced, and deceptively profound comparison. However, that wasn’t the only way in which he reflected on these themes this week.

In addition, he also shared a snippet of a track or verse on Instagram that centers around the Ja Morant controversy, where he flashed a gun for the second time in two months and faced another suspension from the Memphis Grizzlies. With that topic in mind, Symba is able to speak on these themes of street life and wealth in a specific way. “But I get it, this life we living is different,” he raps. “We flex in front of the cameras to show the ghetto we did it. Some of us like to flex, just to show the rest they can get it. But you glorifying a life you ain’t really out here living. I mean my n***a, you up 200 million, and you about to risk it all to show n***as you bought a pistol.

Symba Spits A Heartfelt Reflection On The Ja Morant Situation

“I blame the culture we put you in this position,” he continued. “The music we that we making is influencing you young n***as’ decisions.” Strong words from an incredibly skilled lyricist and spitter. Post Malone Is In “Mourning” On New Single

Earlier this week, Post Malone took to his Instagram to speak with fans, sharing a candid video. In it, he revealed that his upcoming album, titled Austin, is slated for release on July 28. Additionally, the artist informed his fans that his next single, “Mourning,” would be released this week. In the message, the 27-year-old singer and rapper hinted at embarking on a different artistic direction for his forthcoming project. Considering that Post’s previous albums, like Twelve Carat Toothache, have already explored other directions to some extent, it will be intriguing to witness the extent to which he pushes his boundaries.

Upon making the announcement of the new album, Post shared some thoughts on the music and his feelings toward his fans. “Hey guys, what’s going on? It’s Posty. I wanted to say that I love you guys so very f*ckin’ much. I’m here on tour in Europe right now,” Post said. “And I wanted to tell you guys that I have an album coming out this summer on July 28th. It’s called Austin, like my name. That is my name. It’s been some of the funnest music, some of the most challenging and rewarding music for me, at least.” Now, fans are getting another look at the album with a second single, “Mourning.”

Post Gets Introspective

Post Malone is getting extremely self-reflective on his new track. The production on the song is both dreamy and heavy. There are lots of spacy guitar arpeggios happening while a very distorted 808 blasts on the chorus. “I call my quote-unquote friends, do you got plans / turns out everyone’s free when the dinner is,” Post sings on the track. “Then they drag me to a party out in Malibu / after thirty High Noons, it was pretty cool.”

The track serves as a sad and sobering (ha ha) reminder that fame and fortune is not all its cracked up to be. Post’s verses about fairweather friends just go to show how having the wrong people around you can make your life miserable. It’s an interesting track to hear now that Post is reportedly living a much healthier lifestyle. Check out the track above and let us know what you think in the comments!

Quotable Lyrics:

Don’t want to sober up
The sun is killin’ my buzz, that’s why they call it “mourning”
Thought I was strong enough
Threw my bottle at the sky, said, “God, that’s a warning”

Lil Tecca Roasted Over Brandy & Monica Sample Use

Using a sample for your single is a risky move, as people will listen to that track and compare it to the original that it used as a reference. Even though many fans liked Lil Tecca’s latest single, “Need Me,” a lot of people blasted the sample used. Moreover, the Queens MC used a sample of Brandy and Monica’s iconic cut “The Boy Is Mine” for his single’s instrumental. Overall, the sample contributes to a pretty woozy and low-key cut with minimal drum patterns that are mostly carried by Tecca’s vocal delivery. Unfortunately for him, fans are tired of sample songs being so prevalent and “mid” in today’s hip-hop landscape.

Of course, sampling is nothing new in the genre, as much as people like to complain about their prolificacy. In fact, sampling is considered a foundation of hip-hop by most leading figures, fans, and other community members. However, there have been a lot of hit rap songs that use sampling as a way to boost their track’s profile or entice more listeners into tuning in. With all that being said, maybe fans didn’t need to harp on this song; it’s just be a “mid” track in your opinion at the end of the day, not a sign of disrespect to the sample.

Lil Tecca’s Brandy & Monica Sample Flip On “Need Me”

Regardless, the “Blessing” artist caught some criticism online for “Need Me” and particularly its sample flip. “They need to leave that sample Alone,” one impassioned fan wrote on Twitter. “Rodney Jerkins did something special with those sounds. With the violins and s**t no one has done it Justice since.” Others asked rappers to leave Brandy and Monica alone and brought up that people are reusing samples too much. “Didn’t Chinese Kitty just do this?? These samples getting out of hand,” another user tweeted.

At the end of the day, you’re entitled to whatever you think of “Need Me” and sampling these days. Still, it seems slightly odd to only dog on a song for its sample use. Other elements of the track might make you feel lukewarm on it, too. After all, a sample is only as good as its flip, and it needs a good song to justify it. For more news and the latest updates on Lil Tecca, come back to HNHH.

Lil Durk & J. Cole Have A Hit: Twitter Praises “All My Life”

Bootleg Kev argued that Lil Durk doesn’t have any solo hits. Sure, doesn’t have a #1 single on his own. However, he undoubtedly knows how to craft a smash record, as he did with J Cole on “All My Life.” Although fans expected Almost Healed at midnight, Durk seemingly took NBA Youngboy’s advice and opted out of dropping tonight. Still, the release of his highly anticipated effort alongside Cole has been well-received by both of their fans.

Ten years ago, it may have seemed unexpected to see Durk and J. Cole on a track. However, as Lil Durk’s star profile grows, his anthemic tune with the Dreamville honcho perfectly captures his growth and evolution as an artist. However, it’s ultimately J. Cole’s verse that has people talking. The wordplay is top-tier and he’s providing gems, detailing his observations between the rising number of deaths among rappers and the coverage of them by the media.

Lil Durk’s “All My Life” Ft. J Cole Earns Praise

“All My Life” kicks off the campaign for Durk’s forthcoming album, which is due out on May 26th. The rapper began teasing the collaboration with J. Cole following his performance at Dreamville Festival, although many thought he was joking. Ultimately, the two rappers slid with a potential #1 hit record that’s poised to be a mainstay on playlists all summer long. There’s no doubt that “All My Life” sets a standard for his upcoming effort, Almost Healed.

Ahead of the release of his latest single, Lil Durk revealed that he sat down with Chicago’s Mayor, which he opens up about on his verse. “I decided I had to finish, but the media called me a menace/ I done sat with the mayor and politicians, I’m tryna change the image,” he raps on the song. The rapper recently revealed that he and mayor Brandon Johnson discussed ways to save the lives of kids in Chicago. Hopefully, we see Durk making more positive changes in his community. Check out Lil Durk and J. Cole’s single above and peep what Twitter had to say about “All My Life” below.

Russ Brings The Heat On “Fire”

Russ has shared many gems about being an independent artist. One of these is being able to drop consistently. Since December, Russ has released a plethora of singles with similar covers. This has been a reoccurring practice within his artistry. He released his single ” Put You On Game” starting the year off strong. In February, he released a host of singles “Can’t Get This Right,” “3:15,” “Gimme Love,” as well as a single EP called NASTY. Each of these singles ranges between Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, R&B, and Soft Rock.

Earlier this week, Russ teased a new single called “Fire.” He took to Instagram with a short photo dump captioned, “Soft rock song dropping this Friday. It’s called ‘fire.’” Hilariously, Russ includes a picture with a drawn-on rock hairstyle. Fans took to the comment to laugh at the joke tailored to the song’s genre soft rock. Russ is known to be a genre-bending artist. Although he does it all, his presence in Hip-Hop and R&B is the strongest. His popular R&B Ballad “Losing Control” is six times platinum according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Russ Delivers Vocally with “Fire”

Furthermore, “Fire” showcases a soft side to Russ. Its full length stands at just over three minutes at 3:18.This song is a strong depiction of Russ’s vocal ability. Its feel-good tone can be categorized as a more chill feel from the versatile artist. The song’s theme depicts a love story. The hook immediately catches your attention as there is a switch in cadence between the verses. This song does not include features. With Summer ahead, Russ makes sure to put in his entry for a soft rock staple. Coincidentally, the song’s title depicts the heat Russ has dropped so far this year. There has been a song for each of the top current genres.

Furthermore, Russ also released an additional song on Friday. He has put his own spend on ” Fall For You” by Secondhand Serenade. It is safe to say Russ’s theme of the day is rock.

NBA YoungBoy Hops On “Fast X” Single, “Won’t Back Down”

NBA YoungBoy has gained immense popularity in the music industry, thanks to his hit singles. Despite facing several obstacles, including legal issues, he has managed to build a solid reputation. The rapper often collaborates with other top-tier artists in the field. His recent collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Mariah The Scientist on his new singles “WTF” and “Rear View” are a testament to that. The tracks are part of his recently released album, Don’t Try This at Home.

Even though NBA YoungBoy is known for his prolific output of material, he has been under house arrest since 2021. Despite his legal challenges, the rapper is leading a relatively peaceful life in Utah, where he has set up a home recording studio. He is fighting to regain his freedom after facing federal gun charges a few years ago. Unfortunately, the rapper is unable to make public appearances due to his house arrest. However, his excessive time at home has meant that he has released an insane amount of music.

YoungBoy Keeps On Banging Out Hits

Now, NBA Youngboy has dropped yet another new single. Or rather, he is featured on a new single. The rapper hopped on the new promotional single from Fast X, the 10th film in the Fast and Furious franchise. In typical promotional soundtrack single style, the song is about facing your fears head-on and overcoming obstacles. For the most part, it does sound somewhat generic. However, there is a certain catchiness to it. The context of the film will no doubt lend some weight to it, as well.

NBA Youngboy’s verse on the song is very much in line with the theme of the film. As everyone knows by the copious Vin Diesel memes, Fast and Furious films are all about family. Also fast cars and explosions, but that is beside the point. In his verse, YoungBoy talks about the importance of his family. “For my family, you could random me,” he raps. It’s a strong sentiment, but it goes to show that his priorities in life are straight. What do you think of the new track? Sound off in the comments!

Quotable Lyrics:

I admit I sound fallen
But for my family, I rise up
Plan on completing every mission
All before my time up

Doja Cat Hints At Timeline For New Music

Doja Cat hinted that she’s planning on dropping new music within the next four weeks on Twitter, earlier this week. She did so while saying that she’s going to be logging off of social media until the lead single from her next album drops. Doja was voicing her frustration with the negative responses to her latest hairstyle.

“Saw somebody edit hair onto my head for this look i did last night and it made me mad so i wanted to let them know they should be making money instead,” Doja wrote in one post. She then added: “im also aware of the ramifications of the last tweet and that I’ll only be seeing edits of me with hair for the next 4 weeks so I’ll be logging off / deleting twitter till my lead comes out.”

Fans quickly took note of the wording of her tweets. “wait… lead coming in 4 weeks then?? GAG,” one wrote in response. Another replied: “OMG LEAD SINGLE IN 4 WEEKS.” Doja has been teasing the release of her next album for months at this point. Earlier this month, she confirmed that she’s deviating away from pop music with the new project. “No more pop,” she tweeted while replying to a fan. “Pop isn’t exciting to me anymore. I don’t wanna make it.” She also wrote that “the majority of [her] rap verses are mid and corny,” but continued, “I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything, I just enjoy making music. But I’m getting tired of hearing y’all say that I can’t [make rap music] so I will.”

The new project will be Doja’s Cat’s fourth studio album, following the release of Planet Her in 2021. While collaborations for the new album haven’t been announced, her last effort featured Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, JID, and SZA. Be on the lookout for more information regarding Doja Cat’s next album over the course of the next four weeks.

R-Mean Enlists Quavo For Exciting New Single “YESSIR”

R-Mean is one of the most impressive independent artists in the game. Overall, the Armenian American rapper is someone who knows how to network. Of course, this has been made obvious by his collaborations with some of the biggest artists in the entire world. For instance, a few weeks ago, he dropped “Candle Of The Devil” with Nas. The track was produced by Scott Storch, one of the biggest producers ever. Now, R-Mean has arrived with a new album called MEAN which is entirely produced by Storch.

Additionally, this album is filled to the brim with features. Perhaps one of the best, however, comes on the song “YESSIR,” which features the likes of Quavo. “YESSIR” is the 10th song on the album, and it is yet another example of R-Mean and his range. Moreover, it also shows that Quavo is incredible when it comes to writing hooks. Immediately upon listening to the track, you will be wondering why Quavo hasn’t done more songs with Scott Storch’s production.

R-Mean & Quavo Get It Popping

R-Mean also dropped a music video to go along with the song. Overall, it is a strong visual as he and Quavo are seen on a set made to replicate a beach volleyball scene. They are both surrounded by gorgeous women, and you can tell they are living lavishly. Quavo begins the track with a melodic hook that eventually transitions into R-Mean’s verse. The MEAN rapper slides on this track and provides an immaculate vibe. There is no doubt this track has summer anthem potential.

As for the rest of his new album, there are plenty of amazing new tracks to check out. With features from Jeremih, Offset, YG, French Montana, and more, you cannot go wrong with his latest effort. Hopefully, we get to here more from R-Mean in the not-so-distant future. Let us know your thoughts on this song, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.

Coi Leray Keeps The “Bops” Coming With New Single

Coi Leray just returned with a new single “Bops” that continues her momentum this year. After she’s dropped multiple singles and features, including her verse on RAYE’s “Flip A Switch.” remix, she just released the single “Bops.” What’s more is that there’s yet another Coi single coming this week, with “Body” arriving very soon later in the weekend. All in all, it’s an incredibly prolific and exciting season for the Boston-born MC, and one that is only further solidifying her career. On “Bops,” she rides a relatively old-school instrumental that sounds closer to 2000s hip-hop than contemporary trap. With a hypnotic percussive pattern with high-pitched bells and confident flows, she would fit right in on a Neptunes record if she had a time machine.

Furthermore, the short but sharp synths on the track also give it a more vintage club feel. However, the production still sounds crisp and vivid, which breathes more life into these classic sounds. While there’s not too much instrumental progression or variation, Coi Leray takes care of moving the single forward by herself. Multiple cadences and melodies here could make for a standout hook, and her penchant for melody here is intoxicating. As such, even when she’s repeating a lyric or melodic phrase, it still goes a long way to energize the cut. Given previous singles like “Players,” this should come as no surprise.

Coi Leray Is Still Dropping “Bops”

Lyrically, the 25-year-old focuses on, unsurprisingly, her success, talent, and supposed beef with other artist. Of course, she recently cleared up a brief spat with Latto after the latter mentioned her on a single of her own, “Put It On Da Floor.” Even though they seem to have cleared things up, these tracks and Coi’s social media presence indicate that she’s got a chip on her shoulder. Fortunately for her fans, it seems to result in hungry and confident bangers. While we wait for “Body,” let us know what you thought of “Bops” in the comments below. if you haven’t heard it yet, check your preferred streaming service and peep some notable bars below. As always, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Coi Leray.
