Kembe X Joins Forces With Isaiah Rashad & Hippie Sabotage On “Rolling Stoned”

Kembe X recently teamed up with Isaiah Rashad and Hippie Sabotage to drop an atmospheric new single, “Rolling Stoned.” The mellow track features hard-hitting production and catchy lyrics, proving that sometimes, simple is just better. The performer took to social media to announce the exciting drop today, describing the track as “woozy” and “wavy.” This recent collaboration follows Kembe X’s latest track with Hippie Sabotage, “Pole Vaulting.” The duo dropped the energetic single back in October.

The Chattanooga native’s laid-back flow melds well with the relaxed beat and dreamy bars. Based on the look of the artist’s comments section, the collab’s already on its way to becoming a fan favorite, with commenters demanding that they join forces again in the future. They got together earlier this year for another mellow single, “The Basement” alongside REASON. It’s been some time since listeners have heard a full-length project from Kembe X, with his last LP I Was Depressed Until I Made This arriving in 2019. Supporters hope, however, that this latest pair of drops signify that more is on the way.

Kembe X Ft. Isaiah Rashad & Hippie Sabotage – “Rolling Stoned”

Back in September, Kembe X teamed up with director Carlos Acosta to drop a hypnotic music video for his track, “SOBBIN WITH MY.” Earlier this year, he unveiled another straightforward single, “HATE ME OR HATE ME,” which also arrived with a creative visual. The Illinois-born rapper shows no signs of slowing down, and fans can’t wait to hear more.

The Alchemist, Currensy, Boldy James & Westside Gunn Unleash “No Yeast” Remix

These artists have already had a prolific, very successful, and acclaimed 2023, but would they really be the amazing hip-hop figures we adore if they didn’t keep striking when the iron is hot? Moreover, The Alchemist, Curren$y, Boldy James, and Westside Gunn just dropped a remix to “No Yeast.” This cut appeared on Uncle Al and Spitta’s 2022 collab album Continuance, and featured the Detroit MC. However, this isn’t a question of just throwing a verse from the Griselda icon on here; each lyricist wrote a new verse for it. It would’ve been cool to see the producer switch up the beat a little bit, but with three brand-new sets of bars to sink our teeth into, how could we complain?

Furthermore, the instrumental here is a tender sample flip with gorgeous vocals, deep bass, and dreamy guitar lines, plus some ambient applause noise. The Alchemist dominates these soundscapes, and always knows how to keep up potent chemistry with the rappers he works with. In this case, this provides a warm bed for Boldy James, Curren$y, and Westside Gunn to come through with confident, emphatic, but still reflective and laidback verses. Well, Flygod still comes through with his trademark energy, charisma, and braggadocious attitude as the brand-new artist over this beat. Even when he switched to trap-inspired sounds on his 2023 album And Then You Pray For Me, he always showed why he’s so captivating as a mic presence and writer.

Meanwhile, Boldy James opens the track up with evocative writing about the world around him and what he needs to get by. Curren$y balances out his somber flow with Gunn’s bravado, closing the song out with a solidly boastful but grounded verse. After The Alchemist’s prolific run, the latest of which is his Flying High, Part 2 EP- and that of the MCs here- it’s no wonder everything they touch turns to gold. If you haven’t heard the “No Yeast” remix yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and peep some standout bars from it down below. As always, keep checking in with HNHH for more great hip-hop each week.

Lil Durk Shares Release Date For Lil Wayne & Jay-Z-Inspired Single “Smurk Carter”

Lil Durk came through swinging this year with the release of Almost Healed. Although not quite as potent of an album as The Voice and previous efforts, it was undoubtedly a strong entry into his catalog. Singles like “All My Life” ft. J Cole continued to showcase a sense of maturity from the Chicago rapper, who emerged as a frontrunner for the drill scene. However, the rapper has continued to tease a deluxe edition of Almost Healed since the album dropped and it seems like it could be finally arriving before the year comes to a close.

The rapper appeared at a SiriusXM + Pandora Playback event in Atlanta recently where he debuted a few new tracks including a new record titled, “Smurk Carter.” From the beat selection to the flows, it’s clear that Durk is trying to stand as a great rapper in his own right, one that would be mentioned alongside the best of them. The influence of Jay-Z and Lil Wayne during their reign in the 2000s seeps out of the snippet. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long for its release as the rapper shared the cover art for the project on his Instagram page with the caption reading, “Song for the trenches ( smurk carter ) nov10th.” The cover art for the single also shows Lil Durk paying homage to Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter II era with photoshopped face tatts and the iconic Bape hoodie.

Even after releasing his album, Lil Durk continued to dish out new music, specifically features. His most recent guest appearance landed on City Girls’s new album, RAW. However, he continues to expand his sound outside of hip-hop with a few of his latest releases. The rapper appeared alongside Afrobeats artist Ayra Starr on David Guetta’s “BIG FU.” Additionally, he tapped in with K-Pop group Stray Kids and Burna Boy for the remix of “All My Life.”

We’re excited to hear what Lil Durk has up his sleeve on his forthcoming single, “Smurk Carter.” It definitely sounds like a promising record that will show further growth in Durk’s artistry. Pressa Won’t Go Back To “Minimum Wage” On Hard-Hitting New Single: Stream

Toronto rapper Pressa is making sure that you won’t forget about his place in the game as we near the end of 2023. Moreover, he just came through with a new song and music video, “Minimum Wage,” and it chronicles his desire to never work for that again. Of course, this MC of Filipino and Jamaican heritage goes through the usual suspects: getting his money up in his career, being good with the ladies, but still remembering the harsh realities he came up in. Much like previous material, such as his May single “Unfollow Me,” this new track displays his penchant for effortless flows and a dangerously infections vocal tone.

Furthermore, “Minimum Wage” is quite the dramatic and picture-painting cut, whether that’s instrumentally or lyrically. With deep piano chords, atmospheric synth pads, a catchy little whistle melody, and busy percussion, the beat is dynamic enough to engage, but not stacked enough to distract. Pressa’s lyrics aren’t always introspective or deep, but the “Blame Me” artist still comes through with vivid descriptions. “You don’t know how it feel to be locked in the cage and run out of numbers to dial,” he raps at one point. Either way you slice it, the 27-year-old definitely knows how to put a lot of weight behind his material.

Meanwhile, we’re sure that Pressa will continue to excel and impress, such as through potent guest verses on projects like Top5’s Pedro Activated and Tony Yayo’s The Loyal from this year. All we can hope for is that 2024 is an even bigger year for him. If you haven’t heard “Minimum Wage” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and check out the music video above. NBA YoungBoy Drops Surprise New Single & Music Video, “Slime Examination”: Stream

NBA YoungBoy is hand-down one of the most prolific rappers working right now, and to no one’s surprise, he’s still down to keep that work ethic up. Moreover, he just dropped a surprise new single and music video, “Slime Examination,” and it’s a doozy to say the least. The likely divisive track might be a single to the Baton Rouge MC’s upcoming fourth album of 2023, Decided 2, which will be a sequel to his previous 2018 project. Even if it’s not, the music video shows a good indication of where he’s at in his life right now: cars, some female friends, family, luxury within a closed circle. It’s exactly the kind of aspirational but also at-arms-length presentation that YB embodies.

However, you may be wondering why we predict that this will be a divisive track. That’s because YoungBoy’s vocals around the choruses and bridges is very shrill, perhaps the most strained that his voice has ever been up against a melody. Still, for all his online haters, you can’t deny that it isn’t at least a passionate performance from him. Lyrically, the 24-year-old talks about trying to find a balance between the streets, grief, his family, and his career. If you know his personal history and how he’s requesting a change in his house arrest due to his mental health, you know how hard the intersection of these topics hits.

NBA YoungBoy’s “Slime Examination”: Watch The Music Video

Meanwhile, the instrumental here is pretty basic for the “Heard Of Me” artist: sad guitar licks, dry trap rhythms, and an overall minimal atmosphere. It might not be the best beat ever, but for hardcore fans, his vocal performance might be enough to carry it over the edge and increase hype for Decided 2, which drops next week (November 10). On that note, if you haven’t heard “Slime Examination” yet, find it on YouTube, as it isn’t on traditional streaming services as of writing this article. Let us know what you think about it in the comments and peep some standout bars below. As always, log back into HNHH for more on YoungBoy and the latest great hip-hop each week.

Ciara And Chris Brown Tap Lil Wayne For Remix Of “How We Roll (Remix)”

Fort Hood, Texas R&B veteran Ciara has given us plenty of underrated hits over the years and she is still pumping them out. Back at the beginning of August, she released the lead single to her forthcoming EP, CiCi. She grabbed another infamous name in the genre, Chris Brown for “How We Roll.” Some people were a little upset with one person saying, “Ewww, why is Ciara platforming Chr*s Br*wn knowing he’s an abuser?”

Regardless of the backlash, the song still performed fairly well. On Spotify, it sits at nearly 16.5 million streams. It is also Ciara’s second-most popular song on the platform. Now, the song might do even better with a remix out now.

Listen To “How We Roll (Remix)” From Ciara, Chris Brown, And Lil Wayne

He does a solid job fitting into the vibe and theme of it all. He might just be the best rap artist to grab for a feature in 2023.

OMB Peezy Takes A Hard Look At His Past On New Single “The Streets”

OMB Peezy dropped off a new track at the end of last week, “The Streets.” The melancholy single also arrived alongside an emotional music video, which sees the performer’s bars come to life. The Alabama-born creative rhymes about how being reckless has a tendency to do more harm than good, and why he himself has chosen to go down a different path.

The track follows a handful of singles OMB Peezy has released this year, as well as a joint album he put out with Lil Joc at the end of last month. The Atlanta-born performer isn’t the only artist OMB Peezy’s teamed up with as of late, however. He also joined forces with Shaz earlier this month for his song “Too Deep,” and with Oj Dachillichaser in August for “Stained.”

Candid, introspective bars meet soulful production on “The Streets.” The track sees OMB Peezy reflecting on his time behind bars, and reliving how it impacted his loved ones. “I was ready to kill someone for you / When I needed your help n**** where was you at,” he wonders. The Mobile, AL native takes a hard and honest look at his past, and offers a fresh perspective on what could be his future.

Stunna Girl Lives Her Best Life “Courtesy Of A Rich Ni**a”: Stream New Single

We’re about to embark on the final two months of 2023. All year long, the women of hip-hop have been seriously holding it down. Reality star Stunna Girl is among those who’ve been contributing to the genre’s growth, kicking things off with “Pretty Face Shotta” back in May and only getting hotter from there. “Sweat,” Like Dat,” “Pretty Privilege,” and “Real Rap” are among solo efforts she’s delivered throughout the spring and fall so far. As for collaborations, we’ve heard Stunna working with names like French Montana, RichMula500, and JT of City Girls, proving that her star is only rising higher in the industry.

This New Music Friday (October 27), the 25-year-old shared a new single and visual, “Courtesy Of A Rich Ni**a,” that proves just how spoiled she is by her other half. “This song was inspired by my husband and how he spoils me,” Stunna told Lyrical Lemonade. “But also myself and how I’ma boss on my own. The record is real player. It’s for people who grind like myself and have a companion who matches their fly.”

Trippie Redd Remixes Kanii’s New Single, “sins (let me in)”

Trippie Redd is certainly one of the most versatile and idiosyncratic artists from the SoundCloud rap era, and it’s a skill that he keeps showing off. Following his recent EKKSTACY collab “Problems,” this new track featuring him is an even more creative, genre-fusing, and fresh-sounding offering: his remix of “sins (let me in)” by Kanii. While he’s a relatively unknown artist in the mainstream, don’t let that fool you; he hit upon a very interesting blend of slowed-down Jersey club, electronic ambiance, melodic R&B-style performances, and an overall woozy atmosphere. As such, this is an environment in which the Ohio artist feels right at home, and could’ve landed on his recently released A Love Letter To You 5.

In fact, it’s hard to think of someone who would’ve fit this song’s particular vibe more than Trippie Redd. After all, his strained but ear-grabbing cadence makes dreamy or psychedelic soundscapes reveal their true nature, as he fits them almost perfectly every time. However, from a lyrical and structural standpoint, “sins (let me in)” is nothing too remarkable, at least when compared to the innovation on display in the production. It’s a lustful song about longing and about finally giving into these desires, despite the consequences they may hold. As such, these two artist clearly focus more on crafting a mood and an emotion more than a narrative, and either approach has something unique that the other can’t replicate.

As such, Kanii and Trippie Redd figured out that there’s more than one way to strike gold, and their adherence to their strengths ended up paying off. For someone who wants less division in the game, these genre blends are par the course for the “Taking A Walk” hitmaker, and we can’t wait to see where Kanii goes from here.
