Pries Returns With “Ghetto Rich” To Preview Upcoming Album

Pries has returned to the music scene with a new single titled, “Ghetto Rich.” It arrives ahead of his upcoming album, Heartbreaks and Headaches, which is expected to drop sometime in the fall. On the new song, the Denver artist brags about getting women, being slept on, and his wealth with an infectiously smooth flow. Before “Ghetto Rich,” Pries previously made waves with the release of his 2023 song, “Stoop Kid.” In 2021, he released the album, Beautifully Depressed, which encompasses a total of 20 tracks. It’s one of over a dozen projects he has released over the course of his career.

In other music news, it’s been a busy week for hip-hop. In addition to Pries, Childish Gambino, Denzel Curry, Rich The Kid, and more artists all released new music on Friday. For Gambino, he dropped what he’s billing to be his final album, Bando Stone And The New World. Its release predates a film of the same name that he’s working on. Denzel Curry, on the other hand, paid homage to his Southern roots by dropping off King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2.

It’s already been a busy few months for Flee Lord, and luckily for fans, the Queens rapper doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Earlier this year, he teamed up with Crisis to unleash their joint project Full Court Press, complete with features from Conway The Machine, Trizz, and more. Now, only a few months later, he’s gearing up for his upcoming solo album Raised In The Sand.

Flee Lord puts his signature gritty flow on full display, spitting hard-hitting bars about his come-up, fake friends, and more. It serves as a solid lead single and has listeners more eager than ever to hear what else Flee Lord has up his sleeve.

“Raised In The Sand (Intro)” also follows Flee Lord’s appearance on Conway The Machine’s album Slant Face Killah, collabs with Jameel Na’im X and Roc Marciano, and more. Summrs Is Living In The Lap Of Luxury On “Marble Floors”

The pluggnb sensation hailing from Louisiana, Summrs, is back with “Marble Floors”, another single from his upcoming album. Viewed as a pioneer of this trap/R&B sounding subgenre, the Lafayette native has fans ready for what is in store for the near future. To tide fans over before the full-length, Summrs put out the pre-cursor EP, B4DARAVEN, back in April. This is an extension of his 2022 project FALLEN RAVEN, and pretty soon, the third entry will be here to complete the trilogy. TALE OF DA RAVEN is the name of it, and currently, there is a loose expectation that listeners will get a hold of the LP by the end of July.

However, the information, provided by Genius, is unreviewed at the moment. That adds up because even though Summrs continues to tease the album on social media, he keeps saying soon. Who knows when TALE OF DA RAVEN will land. But in the meantime, he is here to continue to hold fans over with “Marble Floors”. This extravagant-sounding track, thanks to the elegant piano melodies on the first and second halves, is a fun change of pace. While the lyrical content is nothing too new, his braggadocious bars do fit the energy of “Marble Floors”.

I snaked you but you snaked me first, why it gotta be reptilian
I sip on the purp’, not the green, that’s yo boyfriend, he chameleon

Maxo Kream Sees Through The BS On Evilgiane-Assisted “Eye Know”

With a plethora of superstar rappers out of Texas, Maxo Kream continues to be one the states secret treasures. He might not feel that way and his fans may not as well, but there are times when you just simply forget. It is no slight to the veteran because we also feel he is one of the most consistent voices from Houston. That point is backed up from the fact that his output this year has been quite outstanding. Since the beginning of 2024, all he has done is release banger after banger. Him and on-the-rise producer evilgiane started their in-studio chemistry with the raunchy “Bang The Bus”. However, Maxo Kream did a complete style switch-up on “No Then You A H*e”.

A tribute to his recent late father, it is one of the most touching yet hard-hitting songs of his career in our opinion. Then you have the Southern hip-hop homage cut “Talkin In Screw” with That Mexican OT. We can also not forget about his contribution to Denzel Curry’s brand-new album on “SET IT”. All of these incredible tracks lead us to this Maxo Kream’s “Eye Know”. It is only 1:50, but his flows, witty one-liners about seeing through the competition’s fake persona, and light-hearted beat from evilgiane once again all help this song’s memorability factor. At this point, we just need Maxo Kream to end this three-year album drought.

G Herbo & Skilla Baby Get Active On “Shoot”

G Herbo is back once again with a new 2024 release called “Shoot”, featuring the likes of Detroit star, Skilla Baby. Over the last several months, the Chicago, Illinois native has been putting on for his hometown, dropping singles and features left and right. This year, we have seen the “PTSD” artist team up with Hotblock Jmoe, Chief Keef, 21 Lil Harold, Aarne, Kerch Dolla, and more. On the solo front, Herbo has put out “Subject”, a freestyle over BossMan Dlow’s “Get In With Me”, and now “Shoot”. With this prolific release pattern, the hope is that G Herbo delivers a new album/mixtape for 2024.

But while we wait for that, what does this Skilla Baby collaboration have to offer up? Well, to be frank, it’s sadly formulaic. The chorus from the rising talent is pretty forgettable and extremely repetitive. With a title like “Shoot” and previous knowledge of these two’s discographies, you might have a good guess as to what the song is about. While there is nothing wrong with rapping about street violence and stakeouts, the execution feels too one-note. It is cool to see Skilla Baby and Herbo work alongside each other, but the final product is just too lackluster for their standards. Still, give the song a try with the music video link below.

Pull up, fah-fah-fah, whip bangin’ “Who Want Smoke?”
How you ‘posed to beef with me and you a ho? Huh?

Khalid Is Thankful For His Musical Journey On “Ground”

Khalid still remains to be one of the biggest R&B/pop stars of this generation. Even though it feels like you don’t hear his name as much as you might have in the late 2010’s, he hasn’t gone anywhere. He still pulls elite numbers on streaming services and radio play even without a new album since 2021. However, the El Paso, Texas native will be following up Scenic Drive (The Tape) very soon. In fact, the LP drought will end on August 2 when he comes through with Sincere, his third studio tape. So far, the “Young Dumb & Broke” singer has put out two singles for it, “Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me” and “Adore U”. But Khalid is coming back for thirds with “Ground”.

Overall, this track finds the veteran hitmaker at his most introspective, as he details a past psychedelic trip. According to Uproxx, Khalid shared an announcement of “Ground”, as well as the story behind it. “Years ago, through moments of uncertainty, I really began to question what my purpose was as an artist”, he began. “I started my own personal journey through psychedelics in 2021 and I’ll never forget the moment this song came to my mind. Just like the random mountain I climbed in Arizona, life is an uphill battle. As beautiful as the top may seem, I’m so happy to embrace the ground that I walk on”.

When you read the lyrics on the surface, it sounds like another relationship cut. But with this explanation in mind, you start to pick up on how clever the writing actually is. He is singing about himself to himself across the track’s 3:07 runtime. Overall, it is a beautiful song from Khalid and it really evokes a sense of self-belief and never giving up on the road to prosperity. With song’s like this, Sincere looks to be a top-flight record for him.

Logic & T Man The Wizard Are In Command Of Their Own Destinies On “Mission Control”

Logic has spit over plenty of flips of classic hip-hop instrumentals over the years. You don’t even have to go back that far to hear the last time he did this. It was just last September on his free Bandcamp mixtape Inglorious Basterd where took iconic beats from Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, and more and gave them his own twist. Well, Logic is doing more of the same on “Mission Control”, the fourth single from the forthcoming Ultra 85. Here, him and his close friend and producer 6ix flip Gucci Mane’s “Lemonade” and it’s straight heat. The track kicks off just like the original did back in 2009.

However, around the 13 second mark is where things totally change for Logic. The instantly recognizable piano keys are slowed down, whereas on Gucci’s version the tempo of them remains the same past the intro. Kick drums are also introduced into the mix giving it real head-nodding quality to it. The instrumental goes from trap to East Coast boom bap in the most seamless way possible. On top of that Logic’s in-your-face flows and bars about being on a mission to make it big are the perfect complementary pieces. T Man the Wizard is also in the mix, adding a chorus that matches up with the theme presented. Ultra 85 is still sadly a few weeks away, as it’s due August 9.

Lil Yachty Goes For The Jugular On “Lets Get On Dey A**”

Lil Yachty aptly named his new single “Lets Get On Dey A**”. While the subject matter mostly pertains to the grind to stealing somebody’s girl, the hidden meaning behind it why this title is so perfect. The polarizing Georgia rapper and singer has been on an absolute tear over the last year and a half. From Let’s Start Here. to songs like “Strike (Holster)” and “A Cold Sunday”, to his recent James Blake collab tape, Bad Cameo, he has been on the competition’s “A**” for sure. Produced by Cardo and Kyuro, it features a synth, kick drum, and bass heavy intro with Yachty’s warbly vocals looming in the background.

Overall, the single sounds like a mixture of Playboi Carti and ian of all artists. The latter is known for being influenced by Yeat. But with Yachty being seen working with him as of late, he might have borrowed some ideas from Valedictorian. Overall, the track is extremely well-produced, however this one of Yachty’s more inconsistent tracks as whole, sadly, His rapping performance is sort of all over the place and it feels like he has hard time finding a pocket. However, we still encourage you to check it out for yourself and see what you think. You can do so by watching the “Lets Get On Dey A**” music video, which features his fellow Concrete Boys members.

Rob49 & Cardi B Are Unhinged On “On Dat Money”

Rob49 and Cardi B are both known to drop some very high-octane tracks, so them collaborating for “On Dat Money” is a perfect marriage. Ever since the Louisiana rapper grabbed a short but zany guest verse on Travis Scott’s “TOPIA TWINS” almost a year ago, his profile has grown immensely. He has been teaming up with some of the biggest stars and fast risers such as Lil Wayne, Skilla Baby, BossMan Dlow, and more. Speaking of Weezy, “On Dat Money” is follow-up to his collab with Rob on “Wassam Baby”. It also comes after “Off Dat Drank”, both of which are possible future album placements.

While we do not have word on that front yet, we do know that this first-time team effort was teased about a week ago on the lead’s IG. Rob49 and Cardi B got fans excited by promising a fire track and it certainly does deliver. Both are saying anything and everything on this record, such as, “I ride d**k on my feet, I be hoppin’ like a bunny (Uh)“. If the goal of “On Dat Money” was to be uber-horny, then it definitely succeeds in that department. Take a listen to the song and check out the music video with the link below.

Trizz & MIKE SUMMERS Tide Fans Over With Blu-Assisted “Cream”

Trizz, an underground Los Angeles, California MC, and Kansas City, Missouri producer MIKE SUMMERS (Tech N9ne) are back with “Cream”. This is the third single from the tandem’s forthcoming sophomore album, Cavi En Cursive. The highly anticipated project was originally going to be out on July 12, but they wanted to make some adjustments. Trizz hilariously let his fans know of this after a confusing time. “I’m on y’all necks! “CREAM” Ft. Blu out tonight!!! Oh yea, my album pushed till next Friday. 😂😂😂”. There is a good chance streaming users will not have access to it, as Trizz has stated on his X account that it was going to be available in physical copies only before its initial drop date. “My album will not be on Apple Music or Spotify. You have to buy it directly from me. Again, I understand if you don’t want to, that’s fine but I’m not giving my hard work out for free anymore. Please respect it. Love”.

Just based off of how Trizz carries himself in these posts, you can tell he really values the craft. That is something that will always be appreciated in what can be a popcorn market. As for “Cream”, though, him and MIKE SUMMERS are connected stably. The song pays a loving homage to the Wu-Tang Clan classic of the same, and the rapping performances from Trizz and Blu would make the members of the iconic posse proud. All of the elements –horns, synths, piano leads, and luxurious drums– all mix beautifully instrumentally speaking, too. That is no surprise, given the gems that SUMMERS dropped for his running mate on the previous singles “Alpine” and “Baseline”.
