DDG Is “Going To The Top” On His Latest Single

DDG for some reason just does not hit the sweet spot for us when it comes to crafting memorable tracks. The multi-hyphenate from Michigan does not have to be a wordsmith by any means. Creating easy-going tracks that are catchy is not a bad thing to make a career off of. However, DDG just does not have that special sauce even on his latest single “Going To The Top.”

This follows up his “She Don’t Play” offering from late December. It was more a of club/party track about a woman who could get whatever she wanted. There are a lot of artists who make similar music to DDG. But, what helps them stand out is the way they deliver their lyrics and the production choices they make.

For the past YouTuber, it seems that he selects basic flows and instrumentals that you will hear all over the current hip-hop landscape. “Going To The Top” is about grinding and flexing how far you have come and how no one is better. It is a common rap topic and has given us plenty of memorable tracks. Yet again though, DDG does nothing to show us why it should be worth going back to this. Still, if you want to support, click the link to check out the song above.

Russ Is Looking To Bury His Inner Demons On “In The Dirt”

Russ is the definition of a grinder. The Secaucus, New Jersey born rapper and singer is someone we talk about quite often here on the HNHH site because of his all gas and no brakes mentality. You can almost always count on him to drop a single at least once a month, sometimes twice, and a project of some sort every year. Russ could not go the entirety of February without giving us something, so he is here with “In The Dirt.”

His last effort “Drives” was about a relationship that was all sorts of complicated and messy. While it shows how versatile Russ is topically, it just did not work for us. However, “In The Dirt” is more or less a return to form for the Georgia resident. He gets back into his speedier rapping back and the message feels more profound here.

Listen To “In The Dirt” By Russ

Russ is dealing with some mental stability while having a hard time controlling his life. In the opening lines he explains, “But uh, I had to get my head right, man, for real, for real / Take back control (Yeah) / I don’t think a lot of us realize the negative patterns that we get ourselves into, and uh / We’re the only ones that can pull ourselves out, you feel me?” That theme carries out the rest of the way and it leads to some simple yet effective writing.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “In The Dirt,” by Russ? Is this the stronger of the two recent songs, why or why not? Is this the best song he has put out in 2024, why or why not? Should he drop a new album this year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Everybody’s brainwashed, we ain’t on the same time but look up at the same clock

Everyone confused, we don’t know how we ended up where we at
But we refuse to take accountability for the mindset that we choose
We forgot to lock the door, the devil’s takin’ off his shoes

Playboi Carti Confronted By Fan Pleading For New Music

It’s no secret that Playboi Carti’s fans are starving for new music. The rapper hasn’t officially dropped anything in more than 3 years since he surprise unleashed Whole Lotte Red on fans in 2020. Starting last year and leading into January Carti dropped a series of tracks onto YouTube with accompanying DIY music videos. The tracks never made their way to streaming and it’s been more than a month since a new one dropped. The silence has led fans who were expecting an album to think the tracks may have just been throwaways after all.

One of those fans who is craving new material got the chance to express themselves to Carti directly. In a bizarre new video shared to social media Carti is surprisingly comfortable letting a fan get up close and personal with him. The fan in question is leaning their forehead up against Carti’s pleading with him to release new music soon. Fans in the comments were surprised by the rapper’s willingness to be yelled at. Some even jumped to the conclusion that it was because he was out of his right mind during the interaction. “I know people claim that these rappers don’t do the drugs that they rappers, but he’s living proof that he’s snorting the lines” one of the top comments on the post reads. Check out the strange video below.

One of the few places Carti has popped up as a featured artist in the past few years was alongside The Weeknd and Madonna on the track “Popular.” The song landed on the soundtrack for The Weeknd’s HBO show The Idol and also managed to spend a few months on the Hot 100. Earlier this week the song finally got an official music video featuring all three artists portraying their own brands of glitz and glamour.

Quavo Labels Himself As “Himothy” On Latest Single

While the Migos are not really together anymore, Quavo and Offset and trying to carry the torch by going solo. Last year, both dropped their sophomore LPs with Quavo going first with his tribute to Takeoff, Rocket Power. Then, a month later, Offset would follow that offering up with SET IT OFF. Both did well amongst the fans and now Quavo is looking to have another solid year in 2024 with “Himothy.”

While he was taken off Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “FUK SUMN” to the fans dismay, he did still land on VULTURES 1 with “PAPERWORK.” After that Quavo and Travis Scott were getting the fans amped after they teased a new collaboration together at a Super Bowl bonanza. Hopefully, this is a sign of Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho‘s sequel. In the meantime, Quavo is here with a new solo release “Himothy.”

Listen To “Himothy” By Quavo

“Himothy” is a popular term with the Generation Alpha kids. It de when you feel like you are really good at something. That is how Quavo is feeling when it comes to how successful he is in the rap game. He does bring a lot of energy to the track. However, there is a message in the lyrics to take note of. It appears that he presumably wants the media and others in general, to drop anything surrounding Takeoff. Unfortunately for Quavo, that might not ever happen, especially with social media. But for what it is worth, HNHH continues to send our best wishes to the Migos and their closest family and friends.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Himothy,” by Quavo? Is this his best solo single in the last year or so, why or why not? Does he need to drop another solo album this year? French Montana Ripped To Shreds Online For Dropping 126-Track Version Of “Mac & Cheese 5”

French Montana is an artist who has received quite a bit of criticism over the years. However, this criticism hasn’t always been warranted. For some reason, he has become a punching bag for some rap fans. Overall, his fans certainly love him and they will listen to anything he puts out. Moreover, he has been able to secure features from some of the biggest artists in rap. He is extremely talented when it comes to curation and its clear that he is one of the best networkers in the entire game.

Today, French dropped off Mac & Cheese 5. This 21-track album had quite a bit of hype around it thanks to the fact that there are two features from Kanye West. However, some fans noticed that the album has an extended version with a whopping 126 tracks. Unfortunately for French, this rollout plan has a lot of people making fun of the artist. As you can see below, this version of the album has numerous acapella, sped up, slowed down, and even instrumental versions.

French Montana Catches Strays

On social media, fans were quick to rip French Montana to shreds over the decision. Overall, numerous artists have been doing this kind of thing as of late, however, they do it for singles and not whole albums. For many, 126 tracks is simple unnecessary streaming bait. Some even likened it to a desperate ploy for more streams and increased revenues. Needless to say, this new release strategy is pleasing no one. Although as one fan pointed out, you can always just listen to the OG version.

Chance The Rapper Plays New Music In Chicago Ahead Of “Star Line Gallery” Album

Chance The Rapper’s upcoming album Star Line Gallery is one of the year’s most anticipated releases, of which we’re getting brief but promising hints. While it’s been a long time since his last project, which disappointed many fans, it feels exciting to see this second wind connect with a lot of people. In fact, the Chicago native recently got to play some presumed material from the LP to his hometown. Folks obviously aren’t 100% sure that these will appear on the tracklist, but it’s definitely a likely outcome. The most important thing is that these new cuts are sounding like really well-crafted, thoughtful, and tender lyrical cuts.

Furthermore, let’s set the stage: the “I Will Be Your” MC hosted the Ramova Theatre’s inaugural concert in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (February 16). He explained that it would be a B-sides and C-sides (“Seasides”) show going through underrated fan favorites and unreleased material debuting with a live audience, per The Chicago Sun Times. On Instagram, Chance The Rapper shared clips from the shows, plus quotes from this publication about the performance. “[More popular cuts like “No Problem” and “Cocoa Butter Kisses”] don’t hold a candle to the level of artistry found in ‘The Negro Problem,’ the as-of-now suggested title Chance shared for the new tune with its series of lyrics that harken to James Baldwin,” they wrote of a snippet.

In addition, The Chicago Sun Times remarked how Star Line Gallery was developed around the time of his Black Star Line Festival in Ghana in January of 2023, hosted alongside fellow Chicago artist Vic Mensa. “I’m in a place in my life of just liking what I like,” Chance The Rapper remarked during the set. Players who also performed for this “B-sides and Seasides” concert comprised of longtime collaborators. Nico Segal joined him on the trumpet, Peter CottonTale played keyboard, Stix handled the drums, and many backup vocalists were there to add their special touch.

How do you like these new teases as a part of the Star Line Gallery rollout? Are you liking this new sound and the writing exercises that preluded it? Wiz Khalifa Tries Something Different With “Bobbi Kush”

Wiz Khalifa is easily one of the most beloved artists from the mixtape era. Overall, his mixtape run is legendary, and he has some massive songs to back it all up. His fanbase has remained loyal and although his recent albums haven’t made massive impacts, he remains a pop culture fixture. When you have a song like “See You Again” with Charlie Puth, you’re going to remain relevant for a very long time. That said, Wiz continues to put out music, and he does as he pleases, regardless of what people say.

For instance, he has dropped a few freestyles as of late that hasn’t exactly gotten the reception he probably would have been hoping for. However, he is still doing his thing right now, and that is certainly admirable. For instance, he just dropped off a new song called “Bobbi Kush.” Wiz will drop new music out of nowhere, and that was certainly the case with this new track. Below, you can listen to the song, as well as consume the new visual that is going along with it.

Metro Boomin is one of the biggest and best producers in hip-hop right now. Overall, he has worked with some of the biggest artists in the entire industry. Furthermore, he is someone who has collaborative albums with a lot of massive artists. He works with the best, and he is has received co-signs from the most legendary artists in the world. For instance, it was recently revealed that Metro and J. Cole are working together. Cole is coming through with an album soon, and Metro is reportedly going to have some production credits.

With Cole dropping a new song last night, there is no doubt that the hype for a J. Cole project is through the roof. Moreover, with Metro seemingly apart of it all, there is even more excitement to be had. Unfortunately, Metro got exposed a bit last night as someone on Twitter pulled up his old tweets about J. Cole. The tweets are actually pretty funny and not all that malicious. In fact, they are mostly about Cole’s fans than Cole himself. For instance, in one tweet, he writes how Cole fans have not had good sex yet.

Metro Boomin Wasn’t Always The Biggest Cole Fan

Considering the fact that these tweets are from 13-14 years ago, we’re sure Metro is going to be just fine. Cole has a pretty good sense of humor and has even sat down with people who have said much worse. Once could just look at his conversation with Lil Pump to see exactly what we mean here. In the grand scheme of things, we doubt this will actually affect the two’s working relationship. Perhaps now, Metro might want to go through those old tweets and spam the delete button.
