Bktherula Goes To The Next Level On New Single & Music Video “THE WAY”: Stream

Bktherula is gearing up for her new album LVL5 P2 next week after its first installment last year, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most creative and vibrant albums of 2024 so far. Moreover, she already dropped the colorful banger “CRAYON” as a single, and now she’s back with perhaps the most overt and extreme display of her range yet. The Atlanta multi-hyphenate just dropped the single and music video “THE WAY,” which follows two women in love on a sunset-adorned coastline, dancing in their home, and eating ice cream by some palm trees. It’s a very sweet visual with a lot of creative animation towards the end and a simple, effective, and gorgeously shot and colored approach.

As for “THE WAY” itself, this is one of Bktherula’s most tender, acoustic, mellow, and structurally unique records in her entire discography. It might remind listeners of previous cuts like “SUMMER” or some material on the LOVE BLACK project, but with some added flair. For one, she mostly delivers refrains here about “the way” and “the light of the room,” with a brief verse longing to stay grounded to humanity and mortality with a special someone despite the sins of themselves, the world, and the forces like drugs that aim to replicate that feeling. Also, the “IT WASN’T ME” rapper’s vocal performance is very warm, and beautifully muted guitar strums, atmospheric synth pads, and what sounds like subtle conga percussion towards the end really makes this an excitingly lush taste of LVL5 P2.

We say “excitingly” because this is the same ferocious MC who brought us “CRAZY GIRL P2” with NBA YoungBoy. Peep the music video above and some notable lyrics below, and make sure to stick around for LVL5 P2, dropping on Friday, March 15. Let’s not light up, ’cause we already higher,
We already high, in our life, living our life full of sin, and I know it ain’t right,

MIKE & Tony Seltzer Pay Homage To UGK On New Single “Underground Kingz”: Stream

MIKE and Tony Seltzer had an incredibly prolific 2023, but it seems like they had no plans of slowing down this year. Moreover, they just dropped another collaborative single exclusively on YouTube paying homage to UGK with the new music video for “Underground Kingz.” They dropped the track “R&B” a couple of weeks ago, and this new visual’s description on the social media platform indicates that there’s more coming. The New Jersey native included the following message: “MIKE & Tony Seltzer – Pinball 3/06.” As such, it seems like we’re getting a full collab album from this duo in just a couple of days on Wednesday (March 6), which is very exciting.

Furthermore, this track definitely adds to that hype with a vibrant, sample-led, and fun beat that speeds up and slows down for a completely different instrumental. In fact, each part of “Underground Kingz” evokes a Bay Area or Detroit bounce to some fast-paced or slower degree, and is also reminiscent of UGK’s Southern roots and artistry. We’re not sure if MIKE and Tony Seltzer actually sampled them for this song, but either way, their tribute came through both sonically and lyrically. Speaking of which, the “Mayors A Cop” lyricist comes through with some really sharp bars here displaying his consistently and mindfully talented pen. On the other hand, the beatsmith cooks up an amazing and cohesive atmosphere for him to ride on.

Meanwhile, the links between these two collaborators are quite curious. MIKE, Wiki, and The Alchemist dropped the project Faith Is A Rock last year, and Tony Seltzer teamed up with Wiki for their 14K Figaro album, also from 2023. As if that wasn’t enough, MIKE dropped his 2023 album Burning Desire, and they’re all excellent listens. If you haven’t heard “Underground Kingz” yet, check it out above exclusively on YouTube with its accompanying music video. Also, peep some standout lines from the track below and let us know what you think about the record and whether you’re excited for Pinball down in the comments section. Meek Mill & Fivio Foreign Team Up For “Whatever I Want” Music Video

Meek Mill tapped Fivio Foreign to appear in the music video for their collaborative effort, “Whatever I Want,” off of his new EP, Heathenism. Kid Art handled the direction for the upbeat video. In the comments of the YouTube post for the piece, Meek wrote: “We shot this vid to 7am it was just a fun day recorded by the scientist kid art!”

Fivio previously came to Meek’s defense, last week, amid rumors that the Philadelphia rapper slept with Diddy. “The streets ah never a weird industry n***a take out a n***a like meek..,” Foreign tweeted. “He do too much for the trenches. We gon hold each other down from now on it’s 2024.. It’s Blue World Order.”

In another post, he added: “Don’t tell me stop responding do something!” Check out Meek and Fivio’s video below.

Fivio isn’t the only rapper Meek teamed up with for the project either. He also worked with Future, although Meek’s promotion of that collaboration prompted more questions about his sexuality online. Sharing Future’s verse, he wrote: “When @1future sent his verse back to me on this I said what you tryna do to meeeeee Pluto lol.” Fans were quick to troll him for the wording of the shout-out. Sexyy Red & Summer Walker Tap Lil Scrappy For New “I Might” Music Video: Watch

Sexyy Red isn’t slowing down in 2024, it seems, as not even childbirth could keep her down for a music video shoot. Moreover, her (and her baby bump) star alongside Lil Scrappy, Summer Walker, and more in the new visual for “I Might,” featuring the latter as a guest artist. For those unaware, this rap/R&B fusion appeared on the deluxe version of the St. Louis rapper’s breakout album Hood Hottest Princess. It’s a romantic tale about lust that still deals with the fallout of another relationship, and this new short film parallels that story quite well and invokes a lot of colorful settings, tropes, and narrative moments that make it a pretty engaging throwback vibe.

Of course, this is not Sexyy Red’s first music video of the year, with that fact attributed to “Rich Baby Daddy” with Drake and SZA. That cut ended up on the Canadian superstar’s 2023 album For All The Dogs, and was definitely among the most fun songs to release last year in the hip-hop mainstream. Fittingly, its visual treatment is also pretty cheeky, as it portrays the “Pound Town” hitmaker and the 6ix God as a couple with some comical interactions. However, this definitely doesn’t answer the question of whether we’ll get more long-form new music from her this year, but that’s a pretty easy code to crack.

Sexyy Red’s “I Might” With Summer Walker: Watch The Music Video

After all, Sexyy Red recently teased some new material on social media, and if you’re not already a fan, it won’t convert you. But it doesn’t have to, because it’s clear that she’s building her following and artistry based on some pretty simple but salient core ideas. Say what you will about the content matter within, but it’s a wild double standard to pretend like it’s much raunchier than most other mainstream rap right now. Maybe one day, we’ll get the genre diversion that some fans think is warranted, and we’ll see for sure whether it was the right call.

Meanwhile, what do you think about this new music video for “I Might” from the “Somethin’” spitter and Summer Walker? Are you looking forward to new music from them coming soon? However you may feel, drop your thoughts in the comments section down below. Also, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Sexyy Red.

Cardi B Finally Returns With Highly-Anticipated “Like What (Freestyle)”

Back on February 20, on-again, off-again partner of Cardi B, Offset, was encouraging his boo to drop her next LP. “Stop being scary and drop the album s**t goes crazy.” While there was not any audio, he was giving his best stank-face for whatever he was teasing in the video. That anticipation deepened after her die-hard supporters were begging for her to return after a series of memes and a #WhereIsCardi poster.

Well, we can finally say that Cardi B is at least slowly rebuilding as she finally dropped “Like What (Freestyle).” This marks The Bronx rapper’s first single since last September with the highly-maligned “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion.” Additionally, an album rollout could be underway as well. If you watch to the end of the music video, directed by Offset, you will see a message that says, “Just beginning… stay tuned.”

Listen To “Like What (Freestyle)” By Cardi B

A fan account shared a snippet of the “Like What (Freestyle)” on Instagram about four days ago. Now, the full version is here. The beat flips Missy Elliott’s classic hit “She’s a B****.” Lyrically, Cardi is delivering some solid rhymes and lines, even presumably sending some strays toward JT of the City Girls. Be sure to check out the return of Cardi B above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Like What (Freestyle),” by Cardi B? For her fans, is this track a satisfying return for her, why or why not? What was your favorite element of the song and why? How long do you think we will have to wait for her sophomore album? Did Offset do well with directing? Steelo Brim & VIC MENSA Pair Up Again For “N**** Dreams”

The Chicago streets are on fire! No, thankfully not a real one. But it is because VIC MENSA and Steelo Brim are back together for a new single. These two underrated lyricists are here with “N**** Dreams” a motivational and hype track about going after your goals and becoming proud of who you are. For Steelo this is his first piece of solo material since last July’s “Margiela.”

Hopefully, this is also the start of a new album rollout for him. It has been about two years since the release of Steelo’s debut Eldorado Excursions. That project featured Buddy, Arin Ray, VIC, Dej Loaf, Leon Thomas, PRICE, Chuck English, and more. As we said, these two are no strangers to each other and they both speak very highly of each other.

In the press release, VIC MENSA could not help but give Steelo Brim his flowers. “Beyond being a friend, Steelo has an amazing ear for production, a unique perspective and has been a covert architect of culture for over a decade now. One of the first young art collectors I knew, [Steelo] brings that taste level to his creativity and that’s something I always connect with.” This was a release that the lead artist “felt appropriate for Black History Month.” Brim says, “The title is also ‘sarcastic’ in the sense of we can wish and dream of more, and yet, we are still just ‘N****s,’ lol.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “N**** Dreams,” by Steelo Brim and VIC MENSA? Is this their best song together, why or why not? Midwxst Is Moving On From A Toxic Lover On “Mistakes” With 9lives

Midwxst is a rapper that sort of flew under the radar for us, but over time, the South Carolinian really blew us way late last year. He specializes in what is referred to as hyperpop which is a combination of genres that he used to near perfection on his debut album. E3 had plenty of impressive cuts like “pretty girls,” “lost,” “heartache blues,” “hate how much,” and more. Now, midwxst is back to revive that momentum with “mistakes.”

This is his first true solo release since the “warning” single for the aforementioned debut. For “mistakes,” midwxst is teaming up with a producer he some rapport with, 9lives. The beat on this one has that familiar sound from the debut and it would definitely fit snuggly into that tracklist. It has a bit of a lo-fi start before the melodic drums in. This is a sound that midwxst can really making a living off of because he sounds great it on it once again.

He is rapping about an ex-girlfriend that was really dragging him down. She even went as far as to say that he would never get better. But, midwxst finds some resolve and breaks things off. In doing so, he finds that he can get through any issue he comes face to face with. It is a nice low-key song to play when you are feeling down, building yourself back up, or when you are headed out on a night drive.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “mistakes,” by midwxst and 9lives? Is this one of his best breakup/love songs ever, why or why not? Is E3 still in your rotation and if so what songs? Are you excited to see what direction he goes in going forward? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. DDG Is “Going To The Top” On His Latest Single

DDG for some reason just does not hit the sweet spot for us when it comes to crafting memorable tracks. The multi-hyphenate from Michigan does not have to be a wordsmith by any means. Creating easy-going tracks that are catchy is not a bad thing to make a career off of. However, DDG just does not have that special sauce even on his latest single “Going To The Top.”

This follows up his “She Don’t Play” offering from late December. It was more a of club/party track about a woman who could get whatever she wanted. There are a lot of artists who make similar music to DDG. But, what helps them stand out is the way they deliver their lyrics and the production choices they make.

Listen To “Going To The Top” By DDG

For the past YouTuber, it seems that he selects basic flows and instrumentals that you will hear all over the current hip-hop landscape. “Going To The Top” is about grinding and flexing how far you have come and how no one is better. It is a common rap topic and has given us plenty of memorable tracks. Yet again though, DDG does nothing to show us why it should be worth going back to this. Still, if you want to support, click the link to check out the song above.

MIKE & Tony Seltzer Provide Their Take On Early 2000’s “R&B”

MIKE is someone we always love discussing here on HNHH. The New York rapper and singer just knows how to do things differently, without turning people away. At just the ripe age of 25, MIKE has delivered some fantastic projects since he got his start in 2017. 2023 was arguably his strongest year yet. The underground scene was more dominant over the mainstream in terms of quality releases. MIKE was a key part in two of the best albums from that year. Himself, The Alchemist, and Wiki, all came together for Faith Is A Rock.

Then, just about a month later he returned for his solo effort Burning Desire. That had features from Larry June, Earl Sweatshirt, and more. Since that point though, MIKE has remained dormant. That has recently just changed as he has just dropped his first piece of music in 2024. “R&B” is a collaborative single with producer Tony Seltzer.

Listen To “R&B” By MIKE & Tony Seltzer

Seltzer was worked with a host of rappers such as Ski Mask the Slump God, Rich The Kid, Jay Critch, and more. MIKE is very familiar with him, as they have been in the studio as well. According to Stereogum, they first collaborated their talents on MIKE’s debut record May God Bless Your Hustle. “R&B” has a soulful feel with the music video being a quite funny callback to early 2000s visuals. The fading to black briefly in between shots, as well as the grainy quality all add up.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “R&B,” by MIKE and Tony Seltzer? Should he and Tony drop a collaboration album this year, why or why not? Does this sound work for MIKE and should he do a full project with it? Is this one of his best songs in the past year, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to tell us in the comments below. Additionally, keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding MIKE and Tony Seltzer.
