Redman is definitely an “instrumental killa,” which he deservedly labels himself on his “SHIZNIT” freestyle. If that title rings a bell, it’s because he’s looking to make Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s “Tha Shiznit” his own. Honestly, he comes really close thanks to his unmistakable delivery and personality on the mic. He may be looking to “jaque” the track at this time, as Snoop and Dre are preparing to drop their first collab tape since Doggystyle with Missionary. That will arrive on December 13. But this piece is about Redman, so let’s get back to it. This “SHIZNIT” release is part of a long-running YouTube series known as “[J@q Boi Be@tz Freestyle].” He selects all sorts of beats to body from Drake to G-Eazy, or he’ll even tackle a ringtone.

All of these off-the-dome releases just further cement how creative and forward-thinking Redman always has been. While he isn’t really dropping new albums or singles that much anymore, the freestyles definitely do the trick. However, the last time we got an LP from the Funk Doctor was in 2015 with Mudface. Fans are praising this freestyle all over social media, especially on Instagram. “Spit that s*** Redman!”, comedian and actor Anthony Anderson writes back. Big Boy adds, “A-1 since Day 1.” Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony also got in the comments section, “” On “SHIZNIT,” Redman reminds everyone how he’s still got it, never sold his soul, and isn’t going away anytime soon. Ab-Soul Slices And Dices His “On The Radar” Freestyle Ahead Of “Soul Burger”

Ab-Soul is just two full days away from releasing his sixth LP titled Soul Burger. The project will carry 15 songs and will arrive on November 8 to be exact. The feature list is one to behold as well with Vince Staples, fellow TDE signee Doechii, Ty Dolla $ign, JID, and Lupe Fiasco, leading the way. Those are just a few of them though, so prepare yourself for sure. The 2013 XXL Freshman will be following up his comeback album HERBERT from 2022, which came after a six-year drought. Overall, TDE has been having an unbelievable year with the aforementioned Doechii, ScHoolboy Q, Zacari, and SiR also delivering some memorable releases.

It’s going to difficult for Ab-Soul due to the sheer artistry of those projects. But he’s definitely got more than enough talent in the tank to compete with his counterparts. The singles have been highly desirable with “Crazier” probably being our favorite out of the bunch. They are all a great refresher of what Soul brings to the table, so we are incredibly pumped for what’s possibly in store. Speaking of staying ready, the veteran MC has been popping up on a couple of freestyles lately.

Ab-Soul Has Fans Amped For His Next Album

One of his most recent came in the form of his respective verse on second-ever XXL‘s Cypher Lab. Him, A$AP Ferg, and Sauce Walka all brought their A game and also talked about the lack of respect for lyricism in hip-hop. The latter is something that Ab-Soul has in great supply, and he displayed that on his first “On The Radar” freestyle. He makes light work of JAY-Z’s “Squeeze 1st,” which he perhaps selected on purpose. He raps over an interpolation of that instrumental on the lead single for Soul Burger, “Squeeze 1St 2.” The lyrics are much different on this off-the-dome performance as he namedrops the album, Doechii’s new mixtape, and labels himself as “Marshall Mathers with melanin.” Check out the fire appearance above.

JID Proves Once Again Why He’s A Freestyle Legend With “31”

It seems like everyone is waiting on JID to drop either Forever & A Day (his next studio album) or his unnamed collab tape with Metro Boomin. It’s for good reason though because the Atlanta native has developed into one of the hottest MCs in the game over the last couple of years. The Forever Story has played a big role in his ascension, and it might be the best of the 2020’s decade when it’s all said and done. For now, it’s pretty much the best of 2022. But when it comes to the Dreamville signee, he’s going to take his time. Right now, JID seems content with dropping some spot features (excellent ones at that) and loosies like “31 (FREESTYLE)”.

Believe it or not, this is his second numbered freestyle of the year, as he opened up 2024 with “30 (Freestyle)”. On that joint, he skated over some funky instrumentation from Conductor Williams and Christo. Prior to this one, JID dropped “29 (Freestyle)” in 2022 with the latter and it seems that’s the first one in this series. Since it’s an off-the-dome cut, there really isn’t a consistent theme with it. However, what is consistent is how damn good JID is with this sort of format. The slipperiness he possesses when e spits is pretty much second to none, as he hits with clever bar after clever bar. The track is out on YouTube now and it’s produced by another close collaborator, Hollywood Cole.

Redveil Shines Once Again On “WHEW LAWD (Freestyle)”

You are not going to find many other dual threats like redveil in today’s game. Still just 20 years old, the Maryland rapper and producer still has so much untapped potential. However, when you listen to him, it might not sound like it. He really got a lot of people’s attention back in 2022 with his sophomore record, learn 2 swim. It was a terrific blend of jazz, soul and hip-hop and featured the songs like “diving board” and “pg baby”, among other fine deep cuts.

He also dropped a shorter project last year called playing w/ fire, but we think we can speak for most fans when we say we want to hear a new album. While we impatiently wait for that, redveil has been holding folks over with some dope freestyles. One of them that we enjoyed quite a bit was “DRAMA”, which released later last year to YouTube and Soundcloud. But the man returned just last night with “WHEW LAWD”, which showcases his spectacular producing and rapping chops again.

“WHEW LAWD” sees him incorporate a soul sample beautifully into the energetic and stank face-inducing beat. To give himself a pat on the back for this fire freestyle, he likens himself to Kanye West in a hilarious but apt way. You can tell that he is inspired by the Georgia legend, as early Ye was always chopping up the soul samples. However, redveil also loves him some Denzel Curry, as the inflection in his voice sounds nearly identical on this cut. It is a small nitpick as to why he is still has some ways to go as an artist, but we would be foolish to not give the track its flowers.

FERG Continues His Solo Run Of Singles With “More Than U Know Freestyle”

A$AP Ferg had the whole internet talking about his sudden return. About three weeks ago, the Harlem, New York rapper put out a YouTube-only single called “MDMX”, but his full stage name was not attached to it. Instead, it was chopped down to just FERG. This then led to an onslaught of theories and speculations that he was not a core member of the A$AP Mob. There have been a lot of reports online that he indeed was not a part of it and that he still remains with them. However, the real truth is that FERG is his solo stage name when he is not releasing anything affiliated with Rocky and the crew.

FERG announced it through Roc Nation back in 2021, saying, “Ferg is very much still part of the Mob, and is A$AP Ferg within A$AP Mob. Ferg as an individual artist and with his solo career is Ferg”. So, with all of that cleared up let us jump into this new single, “More Than U Know Freestyle”. This is the third YouTube exclusive track and a follow-up to “Roemello” just five days ago.

One of the biggest rap songs in the early going of 2024 has to be “Yeah Glo!” by GloRilla. The Memphis femcee was losing some steam after dropping tracks like “F.N.F.” and “Tomorrow 2”. At least, that was the narrative amongst most fans, but she really shut up a lot of skeptics with that February single. It has become one of the genre’s anthems of the year, as it preaches self-worth and being confident in your abilities. Because of its message and lively performance, the track has been widely praised by many, including other rappers. One of them is Young Dro, who has recently decided to rap over the instrumental and retitle it “Yeah Dro Freestyle”.

Young Dro is a veteran wordsmith and has been an unheralded name in the Atlanta scene for well over a decade and a half. The “Shoulder Lean” MC is not as eager to drop much anymore it seems, as it evidenced by his last project dropping in 2022. That would be Da Real Atlanta & HyDROponic (Deluxe Edition). Furthermore, his last singles came back in 2023. But, after almost five full months, Young Dro is back with the “Yeah Dro Freestyle”.

DaBaby unveiled the track today alongside a fun accompanying music video, which sees him cruising around with the windows down, dancing in his bathroom, and more. Once again, listeners are impressed, and sounding off in his Instagram comments section about his quick bars. Some even think he might have Kendrick beat, though that’s still up for debate.

DaBaby Pops Out With Yet Another Freestyle

DaBaby also urged fans to leave some suggestions for his next freestyle in his comments section, prompting demands for him to rap over more tracks from Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s feud. “Family Matters” is a top pick, while others think he should give Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” beat a go. He already offered fans his take on the song that caused the beef to take off, “Like That,” in April.

Central Cee Slips & Slides On Thrilling “CC FREESTYLE”

Central Cee and Dave have been the two faces of the United Kingdom rap scene for the last couple of years. They have been bringing in a lot of listeners, especially from the country across the pond, and it has been great to see. Of course, you still have names like Skepta and Giggs doing their thing as well. But the young cats’ growth will be important going forward. Both do not drop all that often, but when they do the tracks are rarely duds. That is true when it comes to the latest single from Central Cee, “CC FREESTYLE.”

According to Genius, this off-the-dome exercise is a rumored single for Cee’s supposed upcoming debut album. The tentative title, CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS, does not have any release date information out, so this could very well be speculation. Earlier this week, the Cleveland-born MC stopped by Power 106, where he rapped over Metro Boomin and Future’s new viral track alongside Kendrick Lamar, “Like That.” He also paid tribute to Sexyy Red, rhyming over her latest solo single, “Get It Sexyy.”

DaBaby is receiving a ton of praise online for his effortless bars, with countless commenters leaving their own requests for other freestyles they want to see him take on next. “Everybody wants to hate on DaBaby, but he can actually rap,” one fan writes. Another says, “One thing we can’t argue is that boy can spit.”

This isn’t the only time the worlds of DaBaby and Sexyy Red have collided, however. They even joined forces to perform the track at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards after it was released. While listeners can agree that he delivered on his “Get It Sexyy” freestyle, not all of his work has gone over so well. Pusha T Unleashes F1-Inspired Red Bull Spiral Freestyle With Yvngxchris & Khi Infinite

Earlier this week, Pusha T teamed up with Khi Infinite and yvngxchris for a new F1 edition Red Bull Spiral Freestyle. The trio effortlessly delivered top-tier bars inspired by the upcoming debut Red Bull Showrun in Washington D.C. The event aims to bring F1 fans together for “adrenaline-packed fun” with David Coulthard and the team behind Oracle Red Bull Racing. It’ll take place on April 20 of this year.

Pusha T’s freestyle features various references to the event and even a nod to the 20th anniversary of Oracle Red Bull Racing. He boasts some of the team’s accomplishments, as well as a few of his own, before passing the mic to Khi Infinite.

The jab followed weeks of fans hoping to hear a response from the hitmaker after Kendrick Lamar went after Drake and J. Cole on his track with Future and Metro Boomin, “Like That,” which went viral in the days following the release of We Don’t Trust You.
