MGK Gets Extra Personal On “Hotel Diablo: Floor 13 Edition”

MGK is at an interesting point in his career. He found success as a rapper, then pivoted to pop punk. Now, he’s attempting to combine these genres into something uniquely him. The standard version of Hotel Diablo was mostly successful in doing this, but the deluxe version, aka Floor 13 Edition, proves that there’s even more to MGK’s stylistic fluidity than originally thought. There are six extra songs on Hotel Diablo: Floor 13 Edition, and they showcase impressive range in terms of tone and topic. The Ronny J beat on “El Pistolero” is going to make it an obvious standout for rap fans. It’s one of the best songs on the whole album.

Things get woozier and more reflective as the Floor 13 Edition wears on. “Bullets with Names” carries over the horns from “El Pistolero,” but have a more wistful feel to them. MGK also manages to secure a solid Young Thug feature. “FLOOR 13” is a live performance of the titular song, and it showcases MGK’s abilities as a rhymer and rocker simultaneously. The fans who like Tickets to My Downfall MGK will adore the last couple songs on the album. They are remixes of pre-existing Hotel Diablo songs, but the “sad version.” There’s acoustic guitars and dramatic strings added to “I Think I’m OKAY” and “Glass House.” The former is more successful, thanks to the YUNGBLUD feature, but all the “sad versions” are solid in their own right. Overall, an improvement on the original album.

YTB Fatt Stays Hot With 19-Song Tape “On Zai”

10k Projects signee and Arkansas rapper YTB Fatt has been on an extremely prolific run as of late. In fact, there might not be anyone from the area that is hot as him right now. GloRilla is right there with him too, so it close. But with Fatt being more of an up-and-coming name, we might give him the nod slightly. He made his way onto the Southern rap scene just last year and with every release he manages to increase his following. This weekend, YTB Fatt is sure to gain more fans after dropping another new album, On Zai.

After leaving off Foxes Only in December, the 23-year-old is making sure he keeps his name on fans’ minds. What is so incredible about On Zai is that YTB Fatt put out so many singles ahead of it. However, only two of them, “Get Up On It” and “Score” made the cut. Although, he did put out six more within the two days before the tape’s release today. It is clear that he is sitting of piles of heat, as any one of the tracks that did not land on the album could have. Artists like Lil Baby, Rylo Rodriguez, GloRilla, Blac Youngsta, and NoCap are on the YTB train and so should you.

42 Dugg Unleashes Eagerly Anticipated Debut Studio Album “4eva Us Neva Them”

42 Dugg has come a long way since diving into the Detroit rap scene in 2019, and now, he’s finally unleashed his eagerly anticipated debut album. He returned home last year after spending nearly two years behind bars and wasted no time getting back to work. Today, he delivered 4eva Us Never Them, a 21-track project jam-packed with high-profile features. Sexyy Red, Jeezy, EST Gee, Lil Baby, and more make appearances.

He starts the album off strong, delving into his legal woes, his comeback, and more on the intro before moving onto high-octane cuts like “Win Wit Us” and “4×4.” The rapper slows it down on “Fresh From The Feds,” reflecting on his return from prison. He proceeds to take things up a notch on “Case Closed” alongside Rylo Rodriguez. Collabs with Sexyy Red, Jeezy, Lil Baby, and more give the project some sonic diversity, proving that he can blend his style seamlessly with nearly anyone.

Overall, 42 Dugg strikes a solid balance of deep, introspective tracks and light-hearted bangers on the LP, showing off his versatility and making for an impressive solo debut. 4eva Us Never Them follows his last full-length project with EST Gee, 2022’s Last One Left, as well as various singles. Lil Wayne Knows Nothing About A Hot Boys Reunion: “You Just Told Me!”

Rumors of a potential Hot Boys reunion album have been circulating for some time now, but according to Lil Wayne, he knows nothing about it. During a recent appearance on the Not Just Football podcast, the rapper was asked about it, prompting him to call some of Juvenile’s previous claims into question. In May of this year, Juvenile took to Instagram Live to announce that the group’s first album in over two decades was in the works.

“The Hot Boys Is back together, man,” he declared at the time, stating that he and other members planned to hit the studio in the coming weeks. “Any other f*cking questions?” For obvious reasons, his announcement had fans eager to hear what was to come, but it looks like the wait could be longer than they may have hoped.

Lil Wayne Discusses Hot Boys Reunion Album

It’s certainly possible that Juvenile linked up with some of the other Hot Boys, but Lil Wayne insists that he himself hasn’t done any work on the project. “That’s what he [said]? I ain’t been to the kitchen yet. I would not lie to you, I have not been in that kitchen yet,” he said, “I have no problem with going to that kitchen, but I ain’t smell it, it ain’t come through the window yet. I ain’t smell the food […] They ain’t told me nothing yet.”

Fortunately, it seems as though Lil Wayne is willing to take part in a reunion album, despite not knowing much about it at this point. Hopefully, he’ll touch base with Juvenile and the rest of the members soon to work out the details. What do you think of Lil Wayne revealing that he knows nothing about the previously announced Hot Boys reunion album? Do you hope he gets in the studio soon? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Cardo Claims That He’s Finishing Up Work On Playboi Carti’s Album

Playboi Carti is the most mysterious man in hip-hop. Yes, Kendrick Lamar is extremely secretive about his release schedule, but Parti like to keep fans waiting for years. He’s been teasing the release of his third album, tentatively titled MUSIC, since 2021. If we’re to take producer Cardo at his word, however, the wait for new Carti is almost over. Cardo recently talked about the recording process for the album, and claimed that it was nearing an end.

Cardo recorded himself talking about his upcoming plans on July 3. The producer revealed that he was going to Atlanta to “finish up” Playboi Carti’s anticipated album. The other person in the room asks how the recording process has been going, and Cardo admits that it hasn’t been easy. “I don’t know, man,” he explains. “It’s been going crazy. That’s all I know… In a good way. It’s been crazy fun.” He noted that he’s unaware of what Carti will do at a given time. He could drop a song that Cardo produced at random, or it will never see the light of day.

Cardo Has Been Working On The Album For Four Years

The real kicker came when Cardo was asked how long he’d been working on the album. “For like four years,” he revealed. “Me and him have been working on this album for a good four years.” The timeline adds up with regards to the album’s announcement. It’s also humorous to know that people in Playboi Carti’s inner-circle are just as unsure of what he will do as the fans. Cardo has known Carti for almost a decade, and their collaborations have been consistently strong. The producer spoke on their unique chemistry during a Billboard interview in April.

Cardo hesitated to get too specific about their process, but he did say that him and Carti are musically aligned most of the time. “That’s my little brother, man,” the producer gushed. “Just being around him, the young one, you know, and gaining some kind of different kind of energy and inspiration from what he’s doing. Seeing what levels he’s going on. It kind of gives me an idea of what levels I should just keep going. That’s how we’re creating all these fun records.” We hope, for Cardo’s sake and the fan’s, that the album drops soon.

NAV And Metro Boomin Tease Collaborative Album Coming Soon

NAV and Metro Boomin are workhorses. They are constantly touring, recording, or planning their next album. It’s obviously benefited them. Both artists have risen in popularity over the last decade. Metro, in particular, has become the most sought-out producer in hip-hop. NAV and Metro Boomin recently talked about their tireless recording process. In the midst of talking shop, these two hinted at the possibility of another collaborative album.

The whole thing came about due to a NAV question. He asked Metro Boomin whether he was going to take a break after recording two consecutive albums with Future. The producer said that the opposite was true. “Nah, [I’m ready to keep] going,” he explained. “I’m a producer and it’s not the same as an artist who might burnt out with a specific style or their voice.” The money quote then arrived. Metro compared working with Future to working with NAV on an album. An album, seemingly, that fans have not yet heard. “I could do an album with Future,” Metro asserted. “And it’s not going to sound like my album with NAV.”

NAV And Metro Boomin Dropped A Collab Tape In 2017

The cherry on top was Metro Boomin claiming that he always has something that he’s working on. The fact that Metro and NAV alluded to an album, and are even interviewing each other, suggests that there is something in the works. There’s also the fact that the producer and rapper have worked together in the past. They collaborated on the 2017 mixtape Perfect Timing. Both artists were still on the rise when the tape dropped, and it boosted their respective profiles.

There’s also the Drake-shaped elephant in the room. Metro Boomin and NAV were pitted against Drake during the recent hip-hop civil war. Metro spearheaded the war with “Like That,” and NAV caught a stray shot in the Drake diss “Family Matters.” Both artists are bonded by their dislike for the 6 God, and have made a point of working with artists who feel the same way. Metro Boomin linked up with Kendrick Lamar and NAV was photographed in the studio with Pharrell Williams. Maybe there are more subliminals aimed at Drake on this hypothetical album.

Channel Tres Delivers His Familiar Style In A Longer Format With “Head Rush”

Channel Tres has been developing one of the most unique approaches to hip-hop the genre has seen in quite a while. The Los Angeles, California native melds dance, electronic, R&B, funk, house, and hip-hop all in one. Throughout his career, which spans about six years, he has impressed on features and smaller projects. However, there has been one thing missing from the cool, calm, and collected MC’s discography. That would be a debut album, and well, it is finally here. Channel Tres named this project Head Rush, and that is quite an accurate description of what listeners will experience.

As per usual, he is bringing that unmistakable that he is known for, perhaps in a more refined manner. While there have been complaints by some die-hard fans for it being a little underwhelming, bloated, and not as ambitious, Head Rush still offers a lot. Making an album in comparison to an EP or a mixtape is a much different process, so having some missteps is not necessarily out of the ordinary. However, in that same breath, we can see some of the criticisms, as at times Channel can sound a little repetitive at times. Overall, though, the veteran does provide a lot of groovy, funky, and slightly left field bangers and it is still worth a true listen.

Rihanna DM’s GloRilla To Ask When Her New Album Is Dropping

Rihanna loves GloRilla. The latter dropped off her new single, “TGIF,” in June, and Rihanna posted a video of herself dancing to it on Instagram. Evidently, the pop superstar wants more than a song, though. She slid into GloRilla’s DMs on July 2 and attempted to find out when the rapper would be dropping her full album. The irony, of course, being that Rihanna has kept fans waiting for new music since 2016. If there is any artist who should know about waiting, it’s her (and maybe Frank Ocean).

Rihanna’s DM made the rounds on social media, with many fans being humored by the singer’s fandom. She knows exactly what it’s like to wait for new music, without having any idea when it’ll come out. “You got all summer sis,” Rihanna wrote to GloRilla. “I know dis wild hypocritical, but when the album drop?” It’s absolutely wild to compare the release dates for Rihanna’s and GloRilla’s last projects. Rih dropped Anti in 2016, like we previously stated. GloRilla, meanwhile, dropped a mixtape in April of this year! She put out Ehhthang Ehhthang on streaming, which included the hit single “Wanna Be.”

Rihanna Joked About Being A Hypocrite

Every piece of music GloRilla has put out, actually, has come after the release of Rihanna’s last album. That being said, the rapper has discussed her rapidly evolving style. She told iHeartRadio that she has aimed to maintain her musical roots with Ehhthang Ehhthang, despite getting more popular. “The songs are just so raw,” she noted. “I was going back to my roots. I rebranded on it because last year I was just trying to go so big when I was in album mode.”

The upcoming GloRilla album, however, is going to be a little different. Since she already fed her mixtape audience, she will try to go bigger and broader. “[I wanted to] give em some raw gangsta music before I put my album out,” she explained. “Because I feel like I waited too long to drop last year so I went a whole year without a project.” GloRilla’s latest single, the one Rihanna has been bumping, definitely suggest an attempt at a radio smash. Hopefully fans (and RiRi) get to hear the new album soon.

Lil Gotit Releases His First Album Independently With “Shut The Door, Nobody Listening”

Lil Gotit is showing his love to Young Thug and his affiliates on his new album, Shut The Door, Nobody Listening. This is actually the Atlanta, Georgia native’s sixth studio project and a follow-up to the 2022 LP, The Cheater. The latter would go on to be Lil Gotit’s last release with Alamo Records, making Shut The Door an independent offering. Furthermore, it is his first-ever time doing such a thing, so this will almost assuredly hold a special place in the rapper’s heart. The six-year veteran actually began the rollout for this body of work back in late September 2022.

“360 Boy” the devilish opener to this 17-song tracklist, is now longer than the original from almost two years ago. It includes a skit that starts the track off, instead of just the instrumental building up to the chorus. Fans would hear more from Shut The Door in March of last year with “DRIPPIN in Spider”. Finally, in November 2023, Lil Gotit would release “BOW”, the closer, and then “Twisting Our Fingers” in early June of 2024. As we mentioned at the beginning, the “She Know It” rapper is working with YSL members/relatives this time through. Only Young Thug, his late brother Lil Keed, and Thugger’s girlfriend and R&B star Mariah the Scientist make appearances. Be sure to give Gotit’s Shut The Door a spin with the links down below.

KXNG Crooked & Joell Ortiz End Six-Project Run On A High Note With “Tapestry”

Earlier this month, KXNG Crooked took to social media to announce that his new album Tapestry with Joell Ortiz would be their last. Of course, this left fans disappointed, but all the more eager to hear what the duo had to offer on their final project. “It’s the final project for me and Joell as a duo but it’s never over for our friendship and business partnerships!” he wrote. “I hope you enjoy and thank you for joining us on this 6 project journey over the past 4 years!!”

It’s now arrived, and despite the unfortunate news, fans are impressed. The project leads with an intro that sets the tone for the rest of the 14-track album with candid rhymes. They then dive into “Born,” which features a balance of boastful bars and harsh realities, much like the rest of the album. The project sees the duo lean into themes of reflecting on and growing from one’s past. They even rhyme about passing the lessons they’ve learned along the way down to their children on “Parental Advisory.”

Overall, it’s a solid effort packed with insightful bars that tell an honest story, marking a successful ending to their six-project run. What do you think of KXNG Crooked and Joell Ortiz’s sixth and final project, Tapestry? Which tracks will you be adding to your playlist? Are you disappointed that this is their last release as a duo?
