Cardi B Recalls Harsh Criticism Making Her Cry: “It’s Very Hurtful”

It goes without saying that hearing unfiltered feedback on one’s work is enough to ruin anyone’s day. According to Cardi B, she’s no exception. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the femcee opened up about the negative impact harsh criticism has had on her, particularly as it pertains to the release of her upcoming sophomore album. The “Enough” performer revealed that a recent TikTok even made her emotional, as she was accused of not taking her career seriously. She says that this is a serious mischaracterization. Cardi claims that the real reason she hesitates to put new material out is that she cares too much.

“Like yesterday, I was scrolling through TikTok and a b*tch made me cry,” she told the outlet. “She was just like, ‘She has got to give it up. She’s better off being an influencer. You was cosplaying being a rapper. Because you don’t take it seriously. That’s why you don’t put out your music.’”

Cardi B Takes Her Work “So F*cking Seriously”

“It’s like, I take my music so f*cking seriously that that’s why I don’t put it out,” she explained. “Because if it’s not perfect to my ear, if every f*cking word doesn’t sound like it’s pronounced right, if the beat is overpowering the words or the words is overpowering the beat, I don’t want to put it out.”

“When you give so much and somebody just drags it down, like you’re just playing with your p*ssy all day, just watching Netflix all f*cking day long, it’s very hurtful,” she also added. Cardi went on to shut down claims that she’s only pursuing music for money, arguing that she wouldn’t turn down shows if that was the case. What do you think of Cardi B revealing how harsh criticism ahead of her new album has impacted her? Are you surprised? Cardi B Contradicted By Her Own Record Label After Saying Her Album Isn’t Dropping This Year

It’s been a back-and-forth week of news for Cardi B fans. After teasing her new album repeatedly last year, she eventually had to level with fans and confirm that it wasn’t dropping in 2023. The teasing continued into 2024 and even elevated to dropping new singles. Cardi has shared both “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami)” so far this year. While the former was met with mostly underwhelmed shrugs the latter has performed far better both with fans and on the charts.

But as fans felt the momentum towards a new album building, Cardi shared some surprising news in a tweet a few days ago. While responding to a fan claiming she’s earned a break from social media, Cardi seemed to imply that she’s earned a break from everything. She claimed in the now-deleted tweet that her album was no longer dropping in 2024 so she could relax instead. But in the wake of a her newly revealed Rolling Stone Cover Story, her label tweeted something different. “Cardi B’s upcoming album is one of the most anticipated this year. We can’t wait put it out, even if we have to sneak into her studio and take it!” Atlantic Records said in a recent tweet. The claim that it will be one of the best albums of “this year” seems to contradict what Cardi claimed. Check out Atlantic’s newest post about Cardi’s album below.

Andre 3000 Delivers Sobering Update On Potential Outkast Reunion Album

In his new conversation with legendary poet Hanif Abdurraqib for The Bitter Southerner, Andre 3000 once again shared his thoughts on an age-old (well, at least since 2006) question: will Outkast come through with another album? 3 Stacks and Big Boi have arguably the most decorated catalog in hip-hop history, and while they are still great friends, it’s been a long time since they’ve put out music together. In Andre’s case, he’s even yet to drop a hip-hop-oriented solo album. Through his most recent remarks on the subject, he expressed that while he doesn’t think that the reunion is impossible, it would also be a bit of a backtrack considering how his relationship with Sir Lucious Left Foot has evolved over the years, from friends to musicians and beyond.

“People ask, ‘So, will there be another Outkast album?’” Andre 3000 shared. “I really can’t say, man. I do realize that our chemistries have changed. We’re different people. We’re totally different people. Not to say that we won’t be able to make any kind of music, but I think, yeah, people have to realize, like, even in relationships, man… chemistry should change after a while. And I think people think there’s this one thing that has to stay a way, but we are ever-changing, man.

Andre 3000 & Big Boi Performing As Outkast At One MusicFest 2016

Andre 3000 New Outkast Album Interview Hip Hop News
ATLANTA, GA – SEPTEMBER 10: Big Boi and Andre 3000 of Outkast perform at One MusicFest at Lakewood Amphitheatre on September 10, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Prince Williams/WireImage/Getty Images)

“You know, people always ask about me and Big Boi,” Andre 3000 continued. “We cool, man. That’s my homie forever. We were friends before doing music.” If anyone doubted the bond between the ATLiens creatives, remarks on Big Boi’s reaction to New Blue Sun quickly dispelled them. They have crossed paths a lot over the years, whether it’s for get-togethers, reunions, or other events. Outkast is alive and well, not just in their catalog of music’s enduring influence and acclaim, but in terms of that Dungeon Family spirit that both MCs continue to embody in unique ways.

Meanwhile, speaking of the Dungeon Family, that whole collective is still mourning the loss of Rico Wade, the great bridge of not just Southern rap, but rap in general. Perhaps this grief and the 20-year anniversary of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik will provide some other form of reflection, celebration, or tribute… just not a new Outkast album. It seems like Andre 3000 and Big Boi won’t meet up again in the booth, or at least, in the exact same capacity as their previous work. While we accepted that reality a long time ago, that wouldn’t make it any less hype if they change their minds one day.

TI Drops Dizzying G-Funk Freestyle While Fans Wait For New Album

T.I. is a monster on the mic. There’s a reason he’s been able to call himself the King of the South for almost three decades. He’s a trap pioneer, so much so that his breakout album is literally called Trap Muzik. That being said, TI is not limited to Southern fried instrumentals. The rapper recently went on Power 106.1 and dropped a head-spinning freestyle over production that is antithetical to what we expect. TIP showed fans that he could pivot towards G-Funk without missing a beat.

Adorned in a hoodie and sunglasses, TIP skated over the classic instrumental to “Dre Day” by Dr. Dre. “F*ck a player hater, I’m a mayor maker,” he spits. “Out in L.A. laid up like I’m Ghost on Takers, know I’m staying with it.” In the span of a couple lines, TI makes it clear that he’s still the King. He also tips (no pun intended) his cap to the West Coast and references the 2010 film in which he starred, Takers. The rest of the freestyle follows this dense rhyming pattern. The instrumental changes halfway through TI’s verse but he doesn’t slow down.

TI Spit Bars Over A Classic Dr. Dre Instrumental

If anything, he picks up steam. “Old dime a dozen a*s n**ga you are not rare,” he raps. “21 years in this motherf*cker, top tier. We are not peers, when we cheer it is not beer.” He also incorporates the 21 from the previous line into a shoutout to 21 Savage, whom he affectionally dubs his “grandson.” It’s impressive to see TI adapt his flow and style so seamlessly, but it makes sense given what the rapper has in store for his next album.

He talked about the album on the Baller Alert Show back in 2023, and revealed a plan to experiment with different sounds. “I been making some music, and the music I’m making is… how can I say,” he explained to the hosts. “It’s expanding beyond just the concept that I have. I’ve been making somewhat, I guess, more melodic, you know, more R&B vibes, Afrobeat-R&B vibe, party music.”

TI hasn’t provided updates on the album this year, but he has maintained that it will be his last. Kill the King, as it’s been titled, will be a double album and a sendoff to the rapper’s reign. “It’s time to evolve beyond a career as a rapper,” he stated to We In Miami podcast. If he’s rapping like he is on this latest freestyle, fans are in for a classic.

Gunna Reveals Whether He Considered Pushing Back “One Of Wun” Amid Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s viral feud has mostly fizzled out by now, but nonetheless, its lasting impact on hip-hop continues to be a hot topic of debate. Amid the debacle, Gunna unveiled his fifth studio album, One Of Wun. Despite arriving at a time when fans were largely distracted by Drake and Kendrick’s beef, it’s been fairly well received. It’s projected to move 60-65k album-equivalent units in its first week. This would be a slight drop-off from his last effort, A Gift & a Curse.

During a recent airport chat with TMZ, the hitmaker revealed whether or not he ever considered pushing the release back to avoid being overshadowed by all of the drama. He says that it never crossed his mind. According to Gunna, he’s laser-focused on his own endeavors, so much so that he oftentimes overlooks whatever else is going on in the space.

Gunna Says He Didn’t Consider Delaying His Release

“I’m in my own just… You know how that be. Like, I don’t even really see other sh*t that’s going on,” he explained. “It’s hard to see.” Fans certainly can’t blame Gunna for being distracted. Aside from releasing a new full-length project, he’s also just kicked off his “Bittersweet” tour, which is another massive undertaking in itself. He also just announced the launch of his new clothing line, P By Gunna, which is scheduled for June 5 of this year.

Unfortunately, however, that announcement wasn’t as well received as his other projects have been. As a photo of his P By Gunna billboard in NYC made its rounds online last week, an up-and-coming artist took to TikTok to accuse the rapper of stealing his logo. According to the artist, he’s been building his brand for several years. Gunna’s yet to address the accusations. What do you think of Gunna’s new album, One Of Wun? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Lauryn Hill Claims Her Anticipated Second Album Is Coming “Soon”

Lauryn Hill dropped a classic and then dipped out. The dazzlingly talented singer and rapper won five Grammy Awards for her 1998 debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, effectively turning her into a solo superstar. The anticipation for what she would do next was feverish, and yet, “next” never came. Hill has spent the 21st century touring and making the occasional guest appearance on other albums. The follow up to Miseducation became a mythic concept on par with Dr. Dre’s Detox. According to Hill, however, the wait is almost over.

The singer has been making waves as of late. She commemorated the 25th anniversary of Miseducation with a string of sold out concerts, and she recently performed a medley alongside her son YG Marley on The Tonight Show. Hill and Marley were approached by TMZ after the taping of The Tonight Show, and asked about the possibility of the former dropping a second album. Marley took a long pause before he responded, but when he did, he smiled. “Music is on the way,” he revealed. “For real this time.” He then teased the possibility of appearing on the album alongside his mother.

Lauryn Hill Hasn’t Released New Music Since 2002

The real bombshell came when TMZ approached Lauryn Hill. The outlet asked the icon whether she has any plans to release a sophomore effort, and she nodded her head. When asked when, Hill simply smiled and said “soon.” This isn’t the first time Hill has been asked about a second album, but it is the first time she’s been so definitive about it coming out. Assuring fans that new music is coming “soon” is a far cry from the bitter stance that Hill took during a 2021 interview with Rolling Stone. She claimed the success of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill made it difficult for her to make an authentic follow-up.

Hill claimed that she was never actually asked whether she wanted to make another album. “No one from my label ever called me and asked how can we help you make another album ever,” she recalled. “People had included me in their own narratives of their successes, I was considered an enemy.” Hill did put out a live album in 2002, MTV Unplugged No. 2.0. It was derided by fans and critics, yet has come to be seen as a cult classic. It’s possible that Hill could delay the release of her official sophomore album again, but this assurance has been the most exciting development for fans in well over a decade.

Yhapojj Delivers His Anticipated Album “P.S. F*** You”

Yhapojj became a massive target for us to cover just a few short weeks ago when he dropped a new track called “SSwerve Geeked.” It was our first time reviewing any of his music and we can see why he has been garnering some buzz. For those who are not familiar with him, he is only 19 and calls Hunstville, Alabama home. His career saw a start during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it seems as if that time in our country spawned a lot of hip-hop artists. When he dropped that single, we got word that Yhapojj would be dropping a new album P.S. F*** You.

Well, that time has come and like his previous albums, it is almost exclusively Yhapojj and no one else. The only feature, Lil Tony Official, lands on the project’s lead single. A lot of people have been thoroughly enjoying this since its release. What we can say about it is that it is unique due to Yhapo’s flows, deliveries, and instrumental choices.

“Omega Music Vol. 1” Shows That UnoTheActivist Has Star Potential

UnoTheActivist is displaying that he can really flourish in the trap scene with his newest offering Omega Music Vol. 1. This marks the second album for the Atlanta, Georgia in 2024, following up a release from April called Music B4 Music. Leading up to the release of Omega Music Vol. 1, UnoTheActivist put out a trio of promotional cuts which began to rollout in February. Those include the ghoulish banger “Lil X,” “M’s (MMM MMM),” and the tape’s eventual closer “2Chainz.” The reason we well that Uno, or The Act, can really stand out amongst his bigger contemporaries is his approach.

On this project in particular, the prolific 28-year-old has a great ear for beats for starters. Across OMV1, he selects a lot of ear-grabbing instrumentals that are extremely woozy, moody, and detailed. Some of the best examples of this include “M’s,” “Futuristic Swaver,” and “ChieffKeffSossaa.” He is also able to flow really well, with “Uh Huh” and “Lil X” being our favorite tracks in that regard.

Listen To Omega Music Vol. 1 By The Act & UnoTheActivist

Perhaps the one drawback of this album is that Uno is clearly influenced by Lil Uzi Vert and Chief Keef to some extent. In fact, he does a pretty solid job at recreating the latter’s cadence and rap style on “ChieffKeffSossaa.” But, if he wants to truly separate himself, having a more distinctive voice. Other than that, this a solid project with plenty of heat on it.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Omega Music Vol.1 by UnoThe Activist? What tracks have you been gravitating toward? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest UnoTheActivist’s discography? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. JT Flaunts Her Curves In A Neon Bikini, Teases Upcoming Album “City Cinderella”

JT is still hot off of the success of her latest single “Okay,” and luckily for listeners, she has even more on the way. Yesterday, the City Girl turned solo star took to Instagram to tease her upcoming mixtape, City Cinderella. She first announced the project in March. JT shared a series of flirty photos, posing in a neon pink and green bikini top. She paired the sultry swimwear with denim shorts and a pair of light-up pleasers.

In a few other photos, JT is also seen performing onstage in New Orleans as part of her first-ever solo headlining tour. As for the album, she’s yet to confirm an official release date, though it’s expected to arrive sometime this year. Aside from her latest track, the Miami-born rapper has already given fans a taste of what’s to come with her singles “No Bars” and “Sideways.”

City Cinderella Is “Coming Soon”

Last week, JT even unveiled a new extended edition of “Okay,” unleashing several fierce new bars directed at her fellow femcees. While she didn’t call out anyone by name, she recently engaged in a heated Twitter feud with Sukihana. They went at it over the OG version of the song, which some thought included a jab at the Baddies star. JT denies this, though their unhinged back and forth made it clear they’re not on good terms by any means. “To be clear h*e, this for you, you and you (p**sy),” JT rhymes. “You ain’t a threat or a f*cking goon. City Cinderella coming soon.”

Some fans have even speculated some tension between her and the other half of City Girls, Yung Miami. This was only compounded this week when the Caresha Please host left a suspicious comment on a post about JT and Sukihana’s feud. What do you think of JT’s flirty new photos?
