Kevin Abstract Hops Over To Indie Rock On “Blanket” LP

For the past month or so, Kevin Abstract has been on a torrent run dropping singles left and right. When this happens, you know a new album is in the works. Those assumptions were correct in this case as well, with the BROCKHAMPTON leader making a full return to his solo career. The news broke the day he released the lead single, “Blanket.”

In fact, that also was the title track. Blanket is Kevin’s first album since 2019’s ARIZONA BABY. He was still a part of the alternative hip-hop group during that time. However, when they announced their disbandment in 2022, that sort of opened the floodgates for the leader to focus on his own material. Hence we have this LP before us today.

Listen To Blanket From Kevin Abstract

If you heard the title track, you know that Kevin decided to make a total 180 genre-wise. This 13-track tape is an exploration across the indie rock space. If you want to get a more detailed idea of where he wanted to go with this album, check out the Apple Music link above. But, here is a little precursor for you. “His [album] covers many of the same themes [as his previous records], though from the vantage point of someone wiser, more worn, and less susceptible to the whirlwinds of love and love lost.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new album from Kevin Abstract, “Blanket?” Do you think it was the right move for him to ditch rap and go to an entirely different genre? Which songs are you enjoying the most so far? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Fetty Wap Announces New Album “King Zoo”

Earlier this year, Fetty Wap was handed a six-year prison sentence for various drug-trafficking charges. He’s currently serving his time in New York City. For this reason, fans expected not to hear any new music from the rapper for a while. Fortunately for them, however, he recently announced that he has a new full-length album on the way, and it’s scheduled to arrive in only a few weeks.

Fetty Wap’s new LP, King Zoo, is slated for release on November 24 of this year. The album will follow Fetty Wap’s last full-length release, The Butterfly Effect, which he dropped in 2021. Listeners just got a taste of what’s to come on the new project with his single alongside Coi Leray. The duo delivered the new track, “1738,” to fans yesterday.

King Zoo Arrives On November 24

So far, listeners are impressed with the new collab, and can’t wait to hear what else the performer has in store for them. It’s no doubt that the two east coasters make a great team, and fans were glad to hear Coi flexing her vocal abilities. While he’s only a few months into his lengthy sentence, it’s clear that Fetty Wap doesn’t plan on letting his incarceration slow him down. Earlier this month, some new photos of the New Jersey native in prison surfaced online, appearing to show him faring well behind bars.

Though Fetty Wap’s got upwards of five years left until he’s finally released, his legal consequences won’t end there. He’ll undergo a five-year supervised release term once he’s out, and follow some pretty strict conditions. He’s to submit financial records, a DNA sample, seek permission to open any new bank accounts, and more. Are you looking forward to Fetty Wap’s upcoming album King Zoo? How are you liking his new track alongside Coi Leray? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Majid Jordan Delivers Nine-Track Project “Good People”

Majid Jordan is an r&b group that has been at it for a while at this point. Overall, they have a ton of great songs and albums. They became largely known for their work with Drake and OVO as a whole. However, they have been able to carve out their very own lane for themselves. It has been a joy to watch the group grow, and fans would say the same thing. That said, sometimes, they can take a long time between projects, which has left some fans waiting in the lurch.

Luckily, over the last month or so, the group has been dropping a plethora of singles. Their most recent single is a track called “Violet” which had a run time of over 7 minutes. So far, the three singles have created a nice base for a project. Today, that project was released and it is called Good People. As you can see below, the album is only nine tracks long, which makes it fairly bite-sized. However, the songs do have meat to them, which extends the runtime to about 42 minutes.

Joyner Lucas Scraps His New Album For Being “A Little Too Left Field”

Fans of Joyner Lucas have been waiting a while for his sophomore album. His debut ADHD dropped back in 2020 and while it was met with a lot of eye rolls from critics, the album still has a dedicated fan base. Lucas hasn’t been quiet since then releasing quite a few singles and a number of high-profile collaborations. But after hearing fan responses from those tracks, he’s changing direction.

In a new Instagram post, he announced that he’s deciding to scrap the album he’s been working on. “Here’s the truth. I started the album over 2 years ago. I finished it about 5 months ago. Wanted to create something different than the typical joyner so I started experimenting. I dropped a few records and a lot of the feedback I was getting wasnt too good,” he began the post. “I realized that over 70% of the music on there was a little too left field. After hearing some of your feedback on a few joints I decided to scrap the album and restart over again and that’s what I been doing,” he continues. Check out the full post below

Later in the post he goes on to explain that the process is very fluid and there are some collaborations he did that he still wants to release. “I had a lot of features from artists i feel you wouldn’t have wanted to hear me collaborate with. So now I am creating the album in real time and I’m constantly adding to it. I’m listening to your opinions on what you don’t like and what you like and im scrapping things and replacing it with other things that I know you will love.”

He concludes the message by apologizing for the long wait fans have gone through for a new album. What do you think of Joyner Lucas choosing to scrap his album after fans didn’t vibe with some of the singles? Let us know in the comment section below.

Playboi Carti Claims He’s Been Recording His New Album In A Cave

Playboi Carti fans have been waiting for a new album for a very long time. The rapper last released a new project late in 2020 when he surprise-dropped Whole Lotta Red. Since then he’s dropped almost no new material, simply appearing as a feature on other artists’ songs. Most notably, he joined The Weeknd and Madonna on the hit song Popular earlier this year. The song landed on the soundtrack for The Weeknd’s HBO show The Idol.

Now in a new interview, Carti is shedding light on his next album. He sat down with German culture magazine Numero Berlin to share some details on what he’s been up to with fans. He described trying to stay off of his phone and out of his own head to get in the zone for recording music. “I’m in my surroundings. I’ve been recording in Paris. I love Paris. I was recording in a cave for like three months and all the music that came out of that is just chaotic and crazy,” Carti explains. The revelation has to have fans excited, though skeptical if the material will ever actually see the light of day. Check out more from the interview below.

Playboi Carti Recorded Songs For New Album In A Cave

Despite Playboi Carti’s absence from releasing much new music, his influence is still very much felt. The most direct way is through his Opium label where artists like Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely carry on the rage style that Carti pioneered. He’s also influential in other ways. Earlier this week he served as the inspiration for Jaden Smith’s viral Halloween costume.

Carti did have a new song recently debuted on OVO radio. The episode was celebrating the release of Drake’s new album For All The Dogs. Included in the broadcast was the official debut of a Carti song that first leaked a few months ago called “Killers.” What do you think of Playboi Carti recording parts of his new album in a cave in Paris? NBA Youngboy Requests House Arrest Change, Cites His Mental Health

For more than two years now, NBA Youngboy has been under house arrest in Utah. His situation spawns from a 2020 arrest for firearm and narcotics possession. After a further arrest in Los Angeles where he was found with another firearm, the courts came down hard. From his bail proceedings to his eventual sentencing to house arrest, he hasn’t been afforded much leniency. Consequently, as his sentence is being increasingly discussed publicly by fans, he’s looking for a way to loosen the terms.

According to All Hip Hop in a new statement made by his lawyers, Youngboy explains why he’d like his house arrest terms altered. “Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight and sleep. [NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation,” the lawyer’s statement reads. It’s unclear if it will work as government prosecutors have expressed skepticism in what counts as “employment obligations.” A judge is expected to eventually rule on the request. Check out the full story below.

NBA Youngboy Dealing With Deteriorating Mental Health

Youngboy has had fans worried about his mental health on multiple occasions this year. Just last week he posted a somewhat unhinged rant aimed at YouTube for allegedly blackballing him. Subsequently as the video made the rounds online fans expressed concern for the rapper’s wellbeing.

Youngboy has been using his time under house arrest to release a lot of new music. Last week he announced his 4th new album of 2023. The project is a sequel to his 2018 album Decided which is fittingly called Decided 2. What do you think of NBA Youngboy citing his mental health as a reason for his house arrest to be loosened? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Album Event Postponed

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign have postponed their multi-stadium album listening event. Originally set for November 3rd, the highly-anticipated event will now go down at a later date. Ty Dolla Sign first teased the plans back on October 23 with an ominous Instagram post containing a yen “Y” symbol, a dollar sign, and the words “multi stadium listening event November 3rd.”. The listening party is likely to resemble the iconic Donda listening events Ye hosted in 2021.

Neither Ty Dolla Sign nor Kanye West has announced their upcoming album officially, but Billboard first reported that it’s in the works early last month. At the time, the outlet claimed the two were in the process of shopping the effort to distributors.

Kanye West At the MTV Video Music Awards

While the two haven’t confirmed details for the event, Billboard estimates that costs would easily run over $5 million. Further complicating matters, Ye is currently without a major agent after CAA dropped him last year amid a series of antisemitic statements and other controversial behavior. In October of last year, Ari Emanuel, CEO of WME-parent company Endeavor, called on those in the industry to boycott working with West. “If West would like to be educated about the history and consequences of anti-Semitism and the conspiracy theories he’s parroting,” Emmanuel wrote in a statement at the time, “If he wants to reach out to religious leaders — including rabbis, Muslim leaders, Christian leaders — I’d be happy to help.”

Billboard says they’ve spoken with numerous former associates of West who have said they’d be willing to work with the disgraced rapper again if he shows remorse for his actions. “He’s an incredible artist,” one “well-known” agent told the outlet, “but unless you know for a fact that he’s lucid and in a good place mentally, it’s not worth the toxicity to take him on.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s listening event on HotNewHipHop.

50 Cent Has A New Album On The Way

During a recent interview with Evropa 2, 50 Cent confirmed that he plans to drop another record once he’s wrapped up his Final Lap tour. The hitmaker’s been making his way around the world since July of this year, and is currently on the European leg of the tour. For now, he says he’s focused on making his shows the best they can be. Fif notes, however, that fans can look forward to new music from him sometime in the near future.

50 Cent told the outlet that when he’s not traveling around the world for tour, he’s in the studio cooking up new material for fans. He went on to compare his life after tour to Eminem’s, noting how the rapper doesn’t perform very often, though he still drops music. “When I’m not moving around and I’m not touring and doing things, it’s going to permit me to focus on creating music,” he explained. “You’ll get a little more of what you get from Dr. Dre and Eminem from me at that point.”
