C-Murder Co-Signs NBA YoungBoy, Calls Him His “Soulja Slim Of The New Generation”

Thanks to modern technology, C-Murder has been able to keep up with at least some of the hip-hop headlines over the past decade while he’s been in prison. His name has been in the headlines this month as Kim Kardashian does her part to help free the 52-year-old, however, not everyone (especially not his alleged victim’s family) wants to see Murder – born Corey Miller – back on the streets. Regardless of what’s happening with his legal affairs, the New Orleans native is still using his platform to speak out about issues that are important to him, particularly the relationship between the new and old generations of hip-hop.

On Sunday (August 20), Murder’s Instagram page lit up with a new post sending out a message to others from his generation. “I want to ask the older cats to stop hating on our new generation that rap. These dudes really eating and it’s all legal,” he captioned a photo of NBA YoungBoy. Apparently, the 23-year-old has been “keeping it realer with [Murder] than any ni**a [he] knows.”

C-Murder Gives NBA YoungBoy His Flowers

“However it go, I’m rolling with him in war or peace. He’s my Soulja Slim of the new generation. 4EVERTRU,” the “Where I’m From” artist further complimented YoungBoy. This certainly isn’t the first time we’ve seen Murder showing support for his fellow Southern superstar. While the Richest Opp hitmaker was awaiting his gun trial in 2022, his incarcerated mentor shared a song and letter dedicated to NBA for all of his fans to see.

As it turns out, C-Murder isn’t the only old head in the industry going hard for NBA YoungBoy right now. Just last week, his fellow Louisana-born artist Birdman begged the young lyricist to save hip-hop. ILoveMakonnen Called Out Post Malone, Swae Lee, And Metro Boomin’ For Ghosting Him For Years

Nine years ago, rapper ILoveMakonnen dropped his breakthrough single, “Tuesday.” The song proved to be a viral hit for Makonnen, especially on platforms like the six-second video-sharing network, Vine, and resulted in him signing to Drake’s OVO imprint. But Makonnen was eventually dropped from OVO when he couldn’t recreate the success of “Tuesday.”

Last week, Makonnen and rapper Youngboy Never Broke Again dropped “Parasites,” a collab that’s already proving buzzy. So much so, that Metro Boomin’ — who co-produced “Tuesday” with Sonny Digital — reached out to him via Instagram DM. Swae Lee and Post Malone also reached out, however, it appears Makonnen wasn’t really thrilled about them hopping on the bandwagon.

Makonnen shared a carousel on Instagram, which featured screenshots of conversations he had previously had with the three. In the conversations, it appears Makonnen had reached out to the artists over the years, only to be ignored.

“I’m HIM and I Been HERE!,” said Makonnen. “I ain’t do sh*t to yall! Y’all turned y’all back on me and held hands together, unfollowed me and everything, now y’all see me with YB…and start hitting me up like it’s all good. Damn, That sh*t painful to see, especially after we came up together in Atlanta in 2014.”

At the time of writing, only Swae has responded to the post. He took to the comments to express disappointment in the fact that Makonnen chose to address the situation publically.

“We can chop it up anytime you see me though,” said Swae. “I don’t do the public drama sh*t, stay up.”

Makonnen then insisted that there is no beef, and that he still maintains admiration for Swae, Post, and Metro.

“well chop it up, it’s love it’s just a conversation,” said Makonnen, “dont be mad that the only way I get support is if some drama going on, u know the music fire, and u know everybody been tryna deny it. It ain’t no beef. U stay up too.”

Youngboy Never Broke Again is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas has made waves once again with the release of his latest single, “Cut U Off (feat YoungBoy Never Broke Again),” marking the fourth track from his highly anticipated album, Not Now, I’m Busy.

In “Cut U Off,” Joyner Lucas delivers hard-hitting bars that revolve around the theme of removing fake friends and streamlining his inner circle to protect his peace. With his signature lyrical prowess, the New England rapper spits lines like, “Rather not associate with suckers, we don’t need no ties, sick of n****s acting like they motherf****n sneaker size.”

The collaboration with NBA Youngboy is a testament to Joyner’s ability to work seamlessly with established artists and rising stars in the rap scene. Each release from his upcoming album presents a different sound, ranging from melodic vibes to menacing beats. Joyner Lucas showcases his dominant proficiency in every track regardless of the producer or collaborator.

“Cut U Off” follows the success of Joyner’s previous releases from the album, including “What’s That?,” “Blackout (feat. Future),” and “Devil’s Work Part 2.” Fans eagerly await the full album, which is expected to drop later this year.

Joyner Lucas gained widespread recognition with his previous album, ADHD, which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. The album also achieved RIAA gold certification and sparked crucial conversations about mental health. NBA YoungBoy’s Mom Says He Was One Of Her “Best Children”

Recently, NBA YoungBoy dropped his third project of the year. It was the subject of quite a bit of drama. At the time, the rapper took over Twitter conversations and trends. However, he eventually stepped away from the platform after expressing his thoughts. The Baton Rouge rapper released his mixtape, titled Richest Opp, earlier this month. Throughout this period, he garnered significant attention online for his Twitter outbursts, insults, and outrageous statements directed at the music industry. However, he concluded his online activity with the tweet, “Enough said!!!!!! Twitter deactivated.” This really did signal the end, and the rapper kept his word by deactivating.

One of the notable incidents involved his diss track “F**k The Industry Pt. 2.” On it, he targeted big names like Drake, Lil Durk, J. Cole, and Lil Yachty. YoungBoy even shared the song’s lyrics before its official release. Some of the more notable excerpts include extremely direct disses. YoungBoy mentions that he spoke to Drake on FaceTime, but the rapper didn’t like him. Apparently, Drake also told him he supports Lil Durk. The two famously have had ongoing beef and were set to release their projects on the same day. However, despite the drama, NBA YoungBoy’s mom says he was a great kid.

YoungBoy Sounds Like He Was A Perfect Kid

In a new interview with NBA YoungBoy’s mom, she reveals what he was really like growing up. Surprisingly, it sounds like he was a picture-perfect child. A clip of the interview was posted on the No Jumper Instagram, which you can see above. In the video, the interviewer asks the rapper’s mother if he was a bad kid. “No, he’s really one of my best children,” the woman replies. She was then asked to define what made YoungBoy a good child. The rapper’s mother had a very good answer for that.

“Because he cares about other people. Ever since he been little, he do stuff for his sisters and brothers. When he first got his little money – his sister was 16, he was like 14 – he bought her a car… bought her a little Chrysler… but it was about $3000 or $4000,” she revealed. “He always took care of his sister and his little brother. He always do for his friends. If he go to the store, he gon’ bring them back something, like candy. He help the neighbors…. Like all the older people. To this day, all the older people, they remember him.” Regardless of whatever beef YoungBoy is currently involved in, it sounds like he was raised well. What do think you of the interview? Let us know in the comments!

Lil Durk’s “All My Life” Streams Better Than All of “Richest Opp”

There have been some major drops in recent weeks. First, there was NBA YoungBoy’s Richest Opp, a mixtape that he was hoping would become his 15th top 10 release. Then came Lil Durk’s “All My Life ft. J. Cole”, a single release that pre-empted the release of Durk’s upcoming album, Almost Healed.

Now, in this day and age, streaming numbers are just as important as physical sales. Spotify, the global streaming service, is one of the major sources of these streaming numbers, and some good news for Lil Durk has been revealed in recent days.

“All My Life” Dominates “Richest Opp”

Both Richest Opp and “All My Life” were released on May 12. The joint release sparked some fierce words, and a diss track, from YoungBoy. “Bitch-ass n***a, you pushed back, you bet not ever try it again,” YoungBoy said in response to news that Durk had pushed back the release of Almost Healed. Richest Opp also included a track that dissed Drake for associating with Durk. “Bitch, I send them hitters to hit at you, boy, don’t say shit to me. Talk to Drake, cross FaceTime, he wasn’t feelin’ me. Told me that he fuck with Durk, damn, that shit was gettin’ to me. Told me that he like the shit I’m doin’, but can’t do shit with me. So when we cross our ways, fuck what you say, bitch, you my enemy,” YoungBoy rapped on “Fuck The Industry Part 2”.

However, it appears that Durk has seen more success from his May 12 release than YoungBoy. According to Spotify’s streaming data at the time of writing, Richest Opp‘s 17 tracks have a combined 15 million streams. Furthermore, just four of the songs on the mixtapes have broken 1 million streams. Currently, the most popular song on the mixtape is “Bitch Let’s Do It” at 1,786,342 streams. By comparison, “All My Life” alone has 21 million streams. Both projects are yet to make their chart debut. Additionally, “All My Life” is projected to debut at #2 on the Billboard 100. Meanwhile, Richest Opp is expected to battle with The Jonas Brothers’ The Album for a top 5 spot on the Billboard 200.
