Reba McEntire, Post Malone, And Andra Day To Perform Super Bowl Pregame Songs

Reba McEntire will perform “The Star Spangled Banner”, Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful”, and Andra Day will close out with “Lift Every Voice And Sing” at next month’s Super Bowl. These performances will precede the first half of a game that will also include a Roc Nation-produced halftime show performed by Usher. The Super Bowl is scheduled to be held on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Last year’s game featured performances from Chris Stapleton, Babyface, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Usher’s halftime show will look to outdo an electric (and pregnant) performance from Rihanna.

McEntire is a country legend, with three Grammy wins and 25 Billboard No. 1 singles. Malone is a 10-time Grammy nominee whose albums are 14 times platinum certified. Meanwhile, Day is a Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated, Grammy-winning singer and actress. The trio should provide an electric start to the proceedings. The teams for the Super Bowl are yet to be decided, with the divisional round of the playoffs this weekend.

Usher Drops First Super Bowl Teaser

Meanwhile, Usher recently dropped the first trailer for his aforementioned halftime show at the Super Bowl. Titled “One performance, 30 years in the Making”, the minute-long trailer highlights Usher’s legacy, with a collection of fans and celebrities performing the singer’s 2004 classic, “Yeah”. Usher was announced as the Super Bowl headliner back in September 2024, with the NFL debuting a skit involving Kim Kardashian.

Furthermore, Usher also announced that Super Bowl Sunday (February 11) will also mark the release of his new album. Coming Home will be Usher’s ninth studio and his first since Hard II Love in 2016. In the last seven years, Usher’s only extended project was 2018’s A, a collaborative album with Zaytoven. Furthermore, he will be hoping that Coming Home will be a return to form for his work. Hard II Love was his first album since his 1994 debut to neither peak at #1 nor receive an RIAA certification.

Ne-Yo’s NBA In-Season Tournament Final Look Gets Absolutely Roasted

Ne-Yo debuted a surprising new hairless look when he took to the court in Las Vegas to perform the national anthem for the NBA In-Season Tournament final. Viewers were shocked when the rapper stepped out with a perfectly bald head. While a beautiful rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner”, fans simply couldn’t get over the fact that Ne-Yo was bald now. “Bold move!” Kevin Hart said during his guest spot on SportsCenter. Hart went on to call the look, due to the green leather trenchcoat, “very Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!”

As for the game itself, LeBron and Anthony Davis absolutely popped off, powering the Lakers to a 123-109 win over the Pacers. Anthony Davis had a 41-20 game to lead the Lakers by example. Meanwhile, LeBron put up 24 and 11 in his own impressive performance. The high-scoring Pacers simply weren’t able to keep up in the shootout. Tyrese Haliburton had 20 points and 11 rebounds. Furthermore, Benedict Mathurin had a huge 20-point game off the bench for Indiana.

Ne-Yo Gets Roasted

It’s not the first time that Ne-Yo has come under fire in recent months. However, back in August, it was what comments he made and not how he looked. “I have no issue with the [LGBTQIA+] community, I have no problem with nobody. Love who you love. Do what you do. I just personally come from an era where a man was a man, and a woman was a woman, and there wasn’t but two genders, and that’s just how it rocked. Now, you could identify as a goldfish if you feel like. I don’t care. That ain’t my business. It becomes my business when you try to make me to play the game with you. I’m not going to call you a goldfish. You want to be a goldfish? Go be a goldfish. We live in a weird time, man,” the rapper told DJ Vlad after catching heat for comments about medical transitioning.

However, Ne-Yo went on to double down on his comments. “1st and foremost, I CONDEMN NO ONE. Who am I to condemn anybody? Your life, your kids, your choice. I was asked a question and I answered it. My opinion is mine. I’m not asking anybody to agree with me nor am I telling you what you can and cannot do with your children. I stated my opinion on a matter and that’s that.
Why should I care if my opinion upsets you when you don’t care if yours upsets anyone? Opinions aren’t special. We all have one. People voice them regularly whether they’re asked or not. I was actually asked mine. Agreeing to disagree is not a declaration of war. Y’all do whatever the hell y’all want to. But my feelings on the matter are mine. Same way yours are yours. Meanwhile, I love everybody. Don’t agree with some of y’all’s ideals….but love you no less,” Ne-Yo wrote in the comments of a Hollywood Unlocked post.

Flavor Flav Rakes In National Anthem Offers Following Outstanding Performance

Flavor Flav found himself going viral over the weekend. On Sunday night, he got to perform the National Anthem at the Milwaukee Bucks game. Overall, it was a spirited performance. While some didn’t like what he pulled off, others found it to be refreshing. He tried to hit some hard notes, and he got there. Although there are detractors, there are way more people who have a positive outlook on all of it. After all, it is not like he pulled a Roseanne Barr or something. He was respectful and sang his heart out.

Following the performance, Flavor Flav was interviewed by TMZ about his rendition. As he explains, he did it for his family members who served in the armed forces. “When I sang that national anthem, I was singing it for them because they’re not here to sing it for themselves,” he revealed. “I did that in honor of my family and also for a lot of other people’s families, too, that fought for this country.” Needless to say, his intentions were very pure, and it is very much appreciated.

Flavor Flav Sang The National Anthem At A Bucks Game And His Passionate Performance Drew A Mixed Reaction

Flavor Flav is a rap legend thanks to his work in Public Enemy. He’s also a reality TV icon thanks to his multiple shows, including Flavor Of Love. One thing Flav isn’t necessarily known for is his singing abilities, but he put them center stage this weekend to sing the National Anthem at a Milwaukee Bucks game yesterday (October 29).

The NBA team shared a video of the performance on X (formerly Twitter) and it has proven popular, racking up 3.8 million views in the 13 hours since it was uploaded. Not long after he left the court, Flav seemingly anticipated some negative feedback coming his way, as he tweeted, “The anthem was a long time bucket list item,,, that was fun! I can’t live my life worried about what people might say about me. I won’t let that stop me from trying new things and doing things I wanna do. Some people might not like that. But a sure failure is if you stop trying.”

Feedback was mixed: Some took exception to Flav’s vocal performance, while others were happy to see him putting his heart into the performance. One user called on fellow Public Enemy member Chuck D, tweeting, “I bet @MrChuckD is laughing his ass off.” Chuck responded, “Well I’ll put it to you this way .. Flav moved his opinion with The Obamas and VP Harris. I think a bit different on it. My father was a hardcore US Marine. When he passed in 2016 they came out played taps & folded the flag. The context must always be presented upon the action you see. I wrote each of MY songs with deep detailed meaning so you cannot listen to PE with a cavalier EAR and mindset.”

Chuck also recently posted about how Flav has been doing lately, writing, “Some social talk out there on @FlavorFlav about his management. Truth is They cleaned his life up. These past 5 years Period. If thats what it takes to get him away from the bulsht elements so be it. Bulsht street sht that has us RIP at stupid funerals for 50 and unders many times a year now. I don’t GAF if he moves In Taylor Swifts house.. HES 64 many are crumbling younger. He is doing well and best I’ve ever seen him.”

Queen Latifah Captivates Fans With Her Grand National Anthem Performance

The Dallas Cowboys absolutely decimated the New York Giants at Metlife Stadium last night on September 10. To be specific the final score was 40-0 as the Cowboys’ defense made Daniel Jones and the offense look totally abysmal all night long. However, the despondent Giants’ fans at least got to witness a spectacle before the massacre began. On one of the biggest stages, Queen Latifah put on a dazzling performance of the national anthem.

A true great in the hip-hop and R&B space, Latifah got some help from the nation’s toughest individuals. The armed forces added to the amazing show with their gorgeous and in-sync background vocals. Pairing that with Latifah’s deep and soulful voice was a match made in heaven. It was the perfect way to reintroduce Sunday Night Football back to America. During the broadcast, they showed some of the players and coaches, including the Giants’ star running back Saquon Barkley. It seemed like he was in the process of tearing up during Latifah’s rendition and we do not blame him.

This performance and background are melancholy and heartfelt as the nation marks 2023 9/11 anniversary.” People across the world are enjoying it, but, for you, how high does this version rank?

SOURCE SPORTS: Brittney Griner’s Agent Reveals Plans for Star to Stand During National Anthem

Brittney Griner Hits Mercury Practice Court After Signing New Deal for Upcoming Season

Brittney Griner made her return to the WNBA court on Friday night. Ahead of her battle with the Los Angeles Sparks, Griner’s agent, Kagawa Colas, revealed the basketball star’s decision to stand for The National Anthem.

“Having been put in a literal cage, too small for her frame, stripped of her essential American freedoms, and deprived of even her most basic rights during a sham trial and unjust sentencing, Brittney, supported by many other players, will make a statement this WNBA season by standing tall for those uniquely American freedoms.”

Jordin Sparks Gets Clowned By Social Media For National Anthem Performance

Twitter’s just never going to be a very nice place, is it? Jordin Sparks recently got clowned on social media for her performance of the national anthem at the Big 12 Championship game. Moreover, many people compared it to Fergie’s infamous national anthem performance during an NBA All-Star Game. However, many also said that Sparks’ rendition wasn’t that bad, as Fergie’s spread like legitimate wildfire online. Still, whether you have an opinion on that, it’s always a bit sad to see so much hate thrown on social media sites for performances like these.

Still, people are entitled to their take, and it probably says something significant if a lot of people did not like your performance. With all that said, it’s not like Sparks is constantly in the public limelight, so hopefully she’s not getting an absurd amount of haters down her throat. In fact, her most recent big story before this performance was that Chris Brown’s abuse of Rihanna caused their collab “No Air” to get snubbed at the Grammys. Given how Brown’s career’s progressed since then, maybe it was best for Sparks to get a little distance.

Jordin Sparks Clowned For National Anthem

“Honestly, I think that shouldn’t even be a conversation anymore,” she remarked, defending his history of violence. “It’s about his talent, and they just shouldn’t have canceled the performance. That’s how I feel about it. People deserve to be able to grow and learn. Be able to live their life without things hanging over them. Everybody deserves that.” While her comments obviously didn’t land with people in the most positive way, she does make a point about growth. It’s all about how people move forward from those things, or how they stick by old ways.

Regardless of all that, people still laughed off her rendition of the national anthem. While the singer keeps dropping music on a relatively low-key level, perhaps people remember this instance a little more. Hopefully, the 33-year-old’s fans remind the haters of some of her classics. Still, check out reactions above and stay logged into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Jordin Sparks.

Watch Mickey Guyton Absolutely Belt The National Anthem At Super Bowl LVI

For those of us country fans who are passionate about expanding diversity within the genre — word to Jason Isbell — the recent success of Mickey Guyton has been a boon. This rising country star isn’t afraid to speak on the subjects that are closest to her heart, releasing the song “Black Like Me” last year, following up on themes addressed in the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. But her debut full-length, Remember Her Name was also an incredible addition to country music last year, and it earned Guyton three Grammy nominations in this year’s ceremony.

So for anyone who has been paying attention, the NFL’s decision to tap Guyton for the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl made perfect sense. And she was in fine form for her moment in the spotlight today, absolutely belting out the anthem to kick off one of the most important sporting events of the year. Another great addition to her setlist would’ve been Mickey’s own early hit, “Rosé,” but hey, we can’t have everything. Check out her performance up above, and if you want to get a headstart before she likely wins a few awards at this year’s Grammys, stream her 2021 album, Remember Her Name right here.

Mickey Guyton Will Sing The National Anthem At Super Bowl LVI

Even if you don’t follow country music super closely, odds are you’ve already heard of Mickey Guyton. The rising country star is part of a movement within the genre that is demanding the whitewashing in country must stop — and that artists like Morgan Wallen, who was caught on tape saying the “N word” and still saw a surge in sales and popularity — not be the only ones representing their genre.

Guyton’s debut album, Remember Her Name, was released in September last year, and she’s already preceded that with a couple of EPs and impactful singles that made waves, like “Black Like Me,” one of her earliest breakout hits “Better Than You Left Me,” and my personal favorite, “Rosé.” With the release of “Black Like Me,” Guyton became the first Black woman to ever be nominated by the Grammys for the Best Country Solo Performance category, and has been making waves in so many ways since.

One honor that Guyton is kicking off 2022 with is the opportunity to sing the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl. The Bengals will be facing off against the Rams, and Guyton will be there to help open up the biggest game of the year. “Look at God. I am shook, I am grateful, I am praise dancing…” she wrote on Twitter with the news. “So excited to be singing the national anthem at #SBLVI on February 13th!” Tune in to get a taste of her stunning vocals this Sunday at Super Bowl LVI.
