Earlier this month, Anitta announced her tour, billed as Baile Funk Experience, including her first-ever North American leg. The tour is due to begin in Mexico City, Mexico on May 18, which is soon. Anitta’s new album is arriving even sooner.

On Wednesday, April 17, Anitta, Spotify Brasil, and Spotify Mexico collaboratively shared an Instagram post revealing Anitta’s Funk Generation cover art. Anitta had already confirmed the album’s release date as April 26 when she released “Double Team” featuring Brray and Bad Gyal on March 21.

Funk Generation is an album where I celebrate my roots,” Anitta said in a statement upon releasing “Double Team” in late March. “It’s where I express the power of Rio’s funk in every track, its unique, danceable, and sensual beats. It’s a rhythm born in the favelas, where I grew up, and it exudes resistance and art in every community. I’m proud to work on a project about a genre that has been unfairly stigmatized in Brazil but is slowly gaining recognition worldwide. In the album, I bring in important collaborations that helped me tell this story. I’ve been involved in every step of the production and visual direction, and I’ve achieved the result I’ve been aiming for.”

Anitta also previously released “Mil Veces” last October.

Funk Generation is out 4/26 via Floresta Records Inc./Republic Records. Find more information here.

It has been some months since rumors first began to circulate about a potential pregnancy for the recently reunited Ashanti and Nelly. The millennial radio mainstays were first linked again in 2022 after revisiting the past‘ with a sultry performance in Las Vegas.

Today, Ashanti confirmed the pregnancy rumors and announced her engagement to Nelly in an exclusive report in Essence, as well as an Instagram post with a LOT of production value.

“This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” she told Essence. Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”

The two performers had originally dated from early 2003 after meeting at a Grammy Awards press conference and were together for about 10 years, splitting in 2015 after Ashanti intimated that she’d been “betrayed” by the “Country Grammar” rapper, although they did not reveal a specific reason for the breakup. Their reunion was greeted warmly by fans, with Nelly saying, “I think it surprised both of us though. It wasn’t anything that was like planned. I think we both were pretty much doing what we do, but sometimes being separate, you understand one another more. See maybe what they see.”

Now it seems what the couple sees — or hears, rather — is wedding bells.

Quavo’s ‘Huncho Day’ Returns To Atlanta With A Focus On Gun Violence Prevention

Atlanta’s vibrant culture is about to witness the seventh edition of Quavo’s annual “Huncho Day.” Huncho Day is a celebration deeply rooted in community engagement and empowerment. This year, however, the event takes on a profound significance as it amplifies efforts towards combating gun violence. It’s set to take place April 28 this year. The city is now preparing to host an event that goes beyond entertainment and advocates for social change. The tragic loss of Quavo’s nephew and Migos member Takeoff, to gun violence in 2022 shook everyone in the hip-hop community. Moreover, it sparked a dedication within Quavo to advocate against the use of gun violence. Furthermore, ‘Quavo Cares Social Impact Hub’ is a platform dedicated to figuring out solutions to Atlanta’s gun violence issue.

While Huncho Day has always been a celebration of Atlanta’s culture and talent, this year introduces a significant expansion of its programming. Alongside the traditional football and basketball youth clinics and combines, attendees can now engage in the excitement of Team Huncho Basketball and Team Huncho Elite 7v7 football games. This expansion adds to the event’s growth. In addition, it also serves as a testament to Quavo’s commitment to using sports as a vehicle for positive change.

However, what truly sets this year’s Huncho Day apart is its focus on supporting gun violence prevention initiatives. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit “Rocket Camp,” a 10-week summer violence intervention program. Led by the Offender Alumni Association, Rocket Camp aims to empower high-risk youth aged 13-17 by providing them with opportunities for economic, social, and civic growth. It’s a proactive approach that acknowledges the nature of gun violence. Moreover, the Quavo Cares Social Impact Hub stands as a vision for community transformation. Last year, J.I.D., Jalen Ramsey, and others popped out to support the event.

Despite the event being sold out, there’s an opportunity to join the waitlist. It’s a testament to Atlanta’s collective resolve to confront gun violence head-on and create a future where every individual can thrive without fear. As Huncho Day returns to its roots in Atlanta, it does as a celebration of culture. Moreover, it’s a rallying cry for change. Will you be attending this year’s Huncho Day? Let us know in the comments on HNHH!

Drake Doesn’t Have “Any Resentment” For The Weeknd Not Signing To OVO In Resurfaced Clip, Fans Totally Disagree

Drake and The Weeknd are widely considered as two of Canada’s biggest musical superstars and for good reason. Both have proven over and over again that they know how to make impactful pieces of art. Early on their careers, most know that they were close and helping each other make it in the industry. However, when it came down to Drake looking to eventually sign The Weeknd to OVO, it did not work out for Drizzy. Abel made it clear back then that he felt he could still become a force and sure enough that decision paid dividends tenfold.

Following that, there has always been speculation that they had some sort of beef because of that indifference. Lately, those suspicions have turned out to be true, as The Weeknd made it clear on “All to Myself.” The WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU cut off Metro Boomin and Future’s most recent album, heard him say how happy he was for that decision. “I thank God that I never signed my life away… They shooters makin’ TikToks / Got us laughin’ in the Lambo (Yeah).” Drake recently responded to that diss on his fiery, 20 versus 1 response “Push Ups (Drop & Give Me Fifty).”

With all of that in mind, some people’s minds might be persuaded to think that Drake may be the good guy here. A clip from Drake’s viral interview with Rap Radar about four years ago resurfaced in which he addressed not being able to sign The Weeknd. In it, The Boy says that he personally never had any ill will toward the R&B icon, but that some others on the OVO label did. He also expressed that he was always “super happy” and “excited” for him. However, most fans were not drinking the Kool-Aid. “U could tell he was mad with his lyin ahhh,” one person wrote. “I’d be mad too if I didn’t sign the biggest artist in the world,” another added.

What are your thoughts on Drake and his comments about being “super happy” for The Weeknd? Do you think there is some underlying thoughts of “what could have been,” why or why not? How do you think his career would have looked if he signed with OVO? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Rick Ross Says He’d “Love” To Be Neighbors With Drake

It’s no secret that tensions between Rick Ross and Drake have been high in recent days. Evidently, Rozay only continues to add fuel to the fire. The debacle began last week when Drake unveiled his eagerly-anticipated response to those dissing him lately, “Push Ups.” On the song, he throws jabs at Metro Boomin, Future, and of course, Kendrick Lamar. He also took a few shots at Ross, threatening to steal his girl, poking fun at his age, and claiming that “every song that made it on the chart he got from Drizzy.”

As expected, Rick Ross didn’t waste any time responding, promptly unleashing his own diss track, “Champagne Moments.” In his diss, he accuses Drake of getting a nose job, hitting French Montana with a cease and desist, and more. Drake’s since shut down the nose jobs rumors, and the two of them continue to throw mostly subliminal shade online.

Lot Next To Rick Ross’ Star Island Mansion Is “Only” $37M

Most recently, Rick Ross hopped online to show off the progress that’s been made on his Star Island mansion. According to him, he tore the entire thing down just to rebuild it exactly how he wanted it, as money’s no object to him. He even says that there’s an empty lot for sale right next door, and thinks Drizzy should consider investing. “They’re only asking $37M for the flat lot,” he says in the clip. “You know who I’d love to be my neighbor. So, my rich friends, it’s available and I know you’ve got somebody who would love to stay here right next to Ricky Rozay. Another famous celeb next to me.”

What do you think of Rick Ross and Drake’s feud? What about Rozay telling Drizzy he should buy the lot next to his Star Island mansion? Do you agree? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Who Is Method Man’s Daughter Cheyenne Smith Aka ‘Chey?’

There’s a new freestyle going viral on social media and it’s got a lot of people talking. That’s because of the identity of the rapper spitting punchlines over the instrumental to Redman’s 1999 Doc’s Da Name 2000 standout “Da Goodness.” Chey (pronounced “Shy”) is a relatively unknown rapper with a VERY well-known familial connection. Chey’s full name is Cheyenne Smith and her dad is Clifford Smith — better known to hip-hop fans as Wu-Tang Clan member and 1990s hitmaker Method Man.

According to HipHopDX, Chey kicked off her rap career in earnest earlier this year, releasing her solo debut single “Hair And Nails” in January. In February, she followed it with “Boujee And Ghetto,” her second solo single. The first taps into the ever popular New York drill wave, while the second is a thumping, organ-driven anthem anthem. However, it’s her freestyle over her famous father’s frequent collaborator’s instrumental that is currently garnering all the attention, likely as a result of her wordplay-riddled verse over a nostalgic beat resonating with listeners who grew up on Red & Meth.

Technically, though, Chey made her debut in 2021 as a feature on the “Tag I’m Litt” remix from 2nd Generation Wu — a group made up of her brother and her “cousins,” who are all children of original Wu-Tang members. The group consists of Method Man’s son PXWER; Ghostface Killah’s son, Sun God; U-God’s son GFTD – iNTeLL; and Young Dirty Bastard (whose parentage should be obvious from his name alone). And while Chey declined any favors from Method Man in a recent interview, there’s just no getting around the advantage her pedigree might be able to give her as she works her way into the business.

DaBaby Affirms His Stature In Hip-Hop With Fiery “Like That” Freestyle

If there is someone who we think has had a frustrating career in hip-hop, it is DaBaby. We have seen the Cleveland, Ohio rapper flash his technical abilities. He can write, flow, all while having a commanding mic presence. However, we feel – as well as a good amount of the community feels – that it has been an inconsistent ride in terms of quality. His last couple of projects, namely, Baby On Baby 2, BETTER THAN YOU, and BLAME IT ON BABY, have come and gone. Conversely, DaBaby has shone on freestyles, especially his recent performance over “Like That.”

The Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar track has created a civil war of words in rap and it has been incredibly fun to follow. For the time being, it has brought back the competitiveness, as Drake has been the one in everyone’s line of sight lately. But what is cool about it is that it has created this ripple effect. Rappers not even involved in the beef have been feeling more ready than ever lately to prove they feel they deserve to be in the “big three” conversations. DaBaby is one of those rappers, based on his hungry performance on the diss track.

Listen To DaBaby “Like That” Freestyle On Power 106

Fans also seem to be in agreeance on this freestyle showing on X, according to AllHipHop. One person writes, “No cap I’d be here for a DaBaby come back only if he rapping like THAT tho. Yall forgive worse ppl.” Another adds, “Dababy has never been a bad rapper he just made dumb a** decisions because he thought he was bigger than he actually was.”

What are your thoughts on DaBaby for his “Like That” freestyle? Who else should give their best attempt at rapping over this instrumental? Which freestyle was better, this one, or “Get It Sexyy?” We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Young Thug’s YSL Trial: Judge & Prosecutor Get Into Heated Argument In Court

Fulton County Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville called out District Attorney Adriane Love in court during Young Thug’s ongoing YSL RICO trial on Wednesday. He was unhappy with the late-minute submission of a 105-page PowerPoint presentation, which led to a shouting match between himself and the state’s attorney.

“That’s too late,” he remarked, before wagging his finger. “The evidence is excluded. I’m gonna exclude because I told you that this was gonna happen. We’re excluding that and I’m gonna exclude the PowerPoint that you all submitted. You’re not gonna wholesale introduce it.” From there, the prosecutor approaches the podium and argues that they attempted to reach out to the defense on multiple occasions.

Young Thug’s Attorney Arrives In Court

Brian Steel, attorney for rapper Young Thug, arrives at the Fulton County Courthouse on November 27, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. Opening statements are set to begin in the case against 31-year-old US rapper Young Thug and 28 others, who are facing a racketeering indictment accusing the defendants of a number of offenses that support an overarching conspiracy charge, including murder, assault, carjacking, drug dealing, and theft. (Photo by Christian Monterrosa / AFP) (Photo by CHRISTIAN MONTERROSA/AFP via Getty Images)

The judge fires back: “But you all should not be identifying this stuff the moment of trial while the jury’s sitting in a box. I am not gonna tolerate this any further.” Over the next two minutes, tensions only escalate. Eventually, the jury returns and the judge demands the prosector sit back down. Check out the heated interaction in the video below.

The YSL Rico Trial Gets Heated

The latest drama comes after Chance The Rapper made headlines the day before for labeling the case a “circus of a trial.” “For my birthday I just wish my brother was home with his family,” he wrote on Instagram. “This circus of a trial has had him in custody for over a year and with all the legal errors, jury misconduct, and conflicts of interest by the state he deserves to at the very least fight this from home.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Young Thug on HotNewHipHop.
