Did Drake Diss Kendrick Lamar On “The Shoe Fits?”

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been embroiled in perhaps the largest rap beef of all time. Overall, it escalated extremely fast. For 10 years, it has been bubbling, however, fans were only subjected to subliminal bars that were up to interpretation. That all changed when Kendrick dropped his verse on “Like That” which subsequently led to the release of “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle.” Lamar did not take kindly to these and ramped things up with “Euphoria” and “6:16 In LA.”

Eventually, “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” “Not Like Us,” and “The Heart Part 6” were released in a 48-hour timespan. In the end, Kendrick was declared the winner by most, especially with “Not Like Us” going number one. Now, Drake fans are going back into his catalog to see if he may have dissed Kendrick elsewhere. Well, fans have discovered some interesting bars on the song “The Shoe Fits” which comes off of Drizzy’s Scary Hours 3 EP which acted as a deluxe to For All The Dogs.

Drake With Some Interesting Bars

In the song, Drake raps “All your fuckin’ captions lately talkin’ bout happy and glowin’/all of that snappin’ and posin.’” For some, these are allusions to Whitney Alford, although it could be about anyone. Subsequently, in the track, Drake talks about the woman being slapped around by her partner. Of course, Drake accuses Kendrick of domestic violence on “Family Matters.” Because of these connections, fans believe Drake was talking about Lamar on this song. However, there is no confirmation that this is true. Once again, he could be talking about anyone. Regardless, fans are going to craft their theories, and “The Shoe Fits” is proving to be a prophetic song within the Drake fanbase.

DJ Akademiks Threatens To Take Down The Music Industry As Rape Lawsuit Goes Public

DJ Akademiks was recently accused of rape, sexual assault, and defamation in a new lawsuit filed by ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe. Overall, these allegations are quite disturbing, as Abashe accuses Akademiks and his two friends of taking advantage of her. In the lawsuit, Abashe claims that she even did a rape kit that proves she had sex with Akademiks at the time of the alleged incident. Furthermore, she allegedly did a wired phone call in which he admitted to their encounter.

During a live stream at the end of 2023, Akademiks addressed the allegations when they were brought up initially. At the time, he noted that he never slept with Abashe, and he even accused her of cheating on him with his two friends. This is contradictory to Abashe’s alleged story, although Ak maintains his innocence. In fact, during a live stream on Tuesday, Akademiks responded to the lawsuit, noting that this was some sort of shakedown. He continues to proclaim innocence, and he even threatened to bring down the music industry over all of this.

DJ Akademiks Speaks

“Let me tell you this about everyone in the industry: if Ak ever goes down, y’all going down with me. ‘Cause I hold no secrets for nobody,” Akademiks said. As we reported yesterday, Akademiks also insinuated that Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez could be involved in all of this. Moreover, he even took shots at Tyrone Blackburn who is the lawyer in this case. Blackburn is involved in lawsuits against Diddy, and Ak has been very critical of him. Of course, allegations of a conspiracy remain unfounded until further notice. Only time will tell whether or not Akademiks truly reveals industry secrets as this lawsuit moves forward.

Kanye West Yeezy Chief Of Staff Milo Yiannopoulos Resigns Amid Mass Exodus At The Company

Kanye West has been criticized for a while now due to the fact that he had Milo Yiannopoulos as his chief of staff over at Yeezy. Overall, this was a problem for people due to Milo’s questionable beliefs. He rose to prominence during the lead-up to the first Donald Trump Presidency. He fancied himself as a “provocateur” who constantly spewed racist, misogynistic, and downright white nationalist beliefs. Eventually, Milo was shunned from the Conservative movement after some poorly thought-out comments about child abuse on the Joe Rogan Podcast.

It feels like no coincidence that Milo was hired by Ye at the same time that the artist was going through his Nazi phase. However, after two years, Milo is walking away from the company. According to TMZ, Milo sent in a resignation letter as he simply cannot be a part of a company that is getting into the porn business. Milo claims Yeezy Porn has the potential to be “an imminent danger to my life as a recovering addict and an unacceptable risk to my spiritual and physical health as a former homosexual.”

As TMZ reports, Ye has been cleaning house over at Yeezy, and is bringing in a whole new team. Milo isn’t so sure this is a good idea. Although he did say that he would be willing to go back to Yeezy. But only if Ye were to get out of the porn business. Recently, it was suspected that Ye changed his mind on the porn idea. However, it appears as though he is moving forward, as originally planned.

Let us know what you think about all of this, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this is a good thing for Kanye West going further? What do you make of his decision to get into the porn industry? Will this ultimately backfire for him? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Madlib Teases New Collab Album With Freddie Gibbs: “Montana Next Up”

Madlib has one of the varied careers in all of hip-hop. He’s so versatile, in fact, that much of his music doesn’t even fit within the genre’s constraints. The thing that makes him a hall of fame producer, though, is his ability to bring the best out of rappers. Madvillainy is considered by many to be the high water mark for MF Doom, and the same goes for Pinata and Freddie Gibbs. Madlib knows how to make them sound immaculate, which is why fans are so excited for his reunion with the latter.

Madlib’s eccentric production and Freddie Gibbs’ gruff delivery has made magic twice over. Pinata and Bandana are as critically acclaimed as hip-hop albums can be. Pinata, in particular, is so celebrated that the duo recently put on shows to commemorate its tenth anniversary. Madlib and Gibbs (aka MadGibbs) were at New York City’s Rooftop on May 11, and they took the opportunity to drop a bombshell on those who were attending. The short and long of it is that MadGibbs has another album in the works. The title will follow the single word ending in “A” template of the first two.

Madlib Confirmed “Montana” Will Drop In 2024

Madlib was the one who made the official announcement. At first it seemed like he was just hyping up the crowd, but he was actually hyping up Montana. “Y’all ready for Freddie Gibbs?,” he asked the crowd. ‘[I’m] about to drop this live sh*t on y’all. Montana up next.” The producer didn’t offer a release date, but given how quickly him and Gibbs work, fans won’t have to wait long. It’s been five years since the release of Bandana, and in that time, both artists have dropped multiple albums.

The confirmation of Montana is great news for Gibbs fans, in particular. The rapper has spoken at length about the impact that Madlib has had on his music. He told GQ that he was initially reluctant to spit over such wild production, but it’s made him better. “It definitely made me a better lyricist because I didn’t really want to rap on those kinds of beats,” he noted. “I was like, alright, this is about to be the basis of all of this sh*t. Because it sounded like some Wu-Tang sh*t.” We hope the new album is more of the same.

Three Men Shot During The Production Of A Lil Baby Music Video

The production of a Lil Baby music video came to a screeching halt on May 14. According to Fox 5, a shooting broke out at the Atlanta location where the video was being filmed. Three men were shot and injured as a result. Police claim that the men were not directly involved in the music video, but may have been involved in an extracurricular capacity. “There may have been individuals involved in the totality of the production,” noted Major Ralph Woolfolk.

The shooting took place near a commercial strip on Verbena Street. It’s estimated that shots rang out at 4:50 PM on Tuesday evening, at which point two victims were visibly struck. The first was a 24-year-old man who was shot in the arm, and the second was a 27-year-old man who was shot in the back. Police later discovered a third victim, a 23-year-old-man, who was shot in the neck. They did not immediately see him on the scene because the man drove himself to the hospital first. All three victims are currently listed as “alert, conscious, and breathing.”

Lil Baby Was Not Harmed In The Shooting

Police were initially hesitant to confirm the identity of the rapper who was shooting the music video, but it was quickly determined that it was indeed Lil Baby. The rapper was spotted near the set shortly before the shooting broke out. He was also captured on the Instagram Story of a local woman. The Shade Room confirmed that Lil Baby was unharmed. A spokesperson for the “Yes Indeed” hitmaker stated that neither Lil Baby nor his production team were involved in the shooting. More details to come.

This is not the first time Lil Baby has been indirectly tied to a shooting. A man named Kevin Young was arrested for firing a gun during the rapper’s 2023 concert in Memphis. The incident led to the concert being cut short, and Lil Baby was rushed off stage by his security team. Only one person was wounded as a result of Young’s actions, but he was subsequently treated at a nearby hospital.

Kamaiyah Reveals Release Date For New Album “Figuring Out My Emotions”

Kamaiyah isn’t here to be complacent. The Oakland rapper drops multiple times a year because she wants to hone her craft and ensure that fans are up to date with her life. It’s worked wonders. She’s amassed a loyal fanbase over the last decade, and her last album, Another Summer Night, earned positive reviews from critics. Kamaiyah looks to keep the winning streak going strong with her new album, Figuring Out My Emotions.

Figuring Out My Emotions is a more intimate collection of songs than its predecessor, as the title might suggest. The album is executive produced by Kamaiyah, and the lead single, “No Pressure,” delves into more serious subject matter while maintaining a slick, Bay Area sound. The rapper confirmed the rest of the album will drop on Friday, May 17. She also dropped off the artwork and tracklist. The former is right in line with the chilled-out vibe of the aforementioned single. Kamaiyah lays down on a dock near a body of water. No text or logos. Just an artist and the ocean.

Kamaiyah’s New Album Drops On May 17

The tracklist is impressively brief. Another Summer Night was a sprawling album with 17 songs, but Figuring Out My Emotions comes in at a tight eight. There are no listed features on the album. That being said, rap artists like to hide their features until the fans get a chance to listen. Kamaiyah usually reserves a spot for West Coast peers like 03 Greedo or Jay Worthy (both of whom appeared on Another Summer Night).

Kamaiyah explained her approach to dropping during a recent interview with KQED. “It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a f*cking year anymore,” she asserted. “People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more sh*t in their face. It’s got to be organic.”

Figuring Out My Emotions tracklist:

  1. Be Mine
  2. Can’t Lose
  3. DND
  4. Link Wit Me
  5. One & Only
  6. No Pressure
  7. Success
  8. Winter Blues

Madlib Teased His And Freddie Gibbs’ New Collaboration Album, ‘Montana,’ Revealing That It’s ‘Next Up’

Producer Madlib celebrated a big milestone this past weekend. On Saturday (May 11) at a 10th anniversary celebration of his album Piñata, which featured raps by Freddie Gibbs. The celebration took place at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City.

During the celebration, Madlib spun some tunes and dropped some beats. Freddie Gibbs was set to come to the stage. But before he performed, Madlib teased some new music with his frequent collaborator.

“Y’all ready for Freddie Gibbs?,” Madlib asked the crowd, who responded with cheers. Madlib continued, promising the crowd “[I’m] About to drop this live sh*t on y’all. Montana up next.”

Though neither Madlib nor Gibbs indicated an official release date for Montana, fans are waiting with bated breath.

Montana will mark Madlib and Gibbs’ third full-length album together, their first being 2014’s Piñata and their second being 2019’s Bandana. The duo releases music under the stage name, MadGibbs.

In addition to these two — soon to be three — albums, Madlib and Gibbs have also released five EPs together — 2011’s Thuggin’, 2012’s Shame, 2013’s Deeper, 2014’s Knicks (Remix), and 2020’s The Diamond Mine Sessions, with El Michels Affair.

Snoop Dogg Reveals Tragedy That Inspired New Dogg Pound Album

Tha Dogg Pound was a legendary part of Death Row Records. While they lacked the crossover success of 2Pac or Dr. Dre, the duo anchored the label’s catalog with hits like “Let’s Play House” and “New York, New York.” The latter was a diss song with a Snoop Dogg chorus. The collab led to the formation of the DPGC, or Dogg Pound Gangsta Clicc, which has dropped multiple albums over the last three decades. Snoop Dogg thought DPGC was done a few years back, but personal events led to a reunion that he’s subsequently been grateful for.

Snoop Dogg talked about the Dogg Pound reunion during a recent appearance on Home Grown Radio. The rapper admitted that he’d been on the outs with Dogg Pound co-founder Daz Dillinger, and therefore reluctant to work with him. It’s worth noting that Snoop and Daz are cousins, so the rift went beyond the studio. It was ultimately the death of Snoop’s brother, Bing Worthington, that led to the two men setting their issues aside. “My little brother had passed away,” the rapper said. “And one thing about my little brother is he loved the f*ck outta Daz. He loved us together.”

The Death Of Snoop Dogg’s Brother Inspired The Reunion

Snoop Dogg decided that he wanted to honor Bing by putting out new music as a family. “I started calling family members,” he noted. “I reached out them, I was like ‘Y’all get Daz’. Me and him get on the line, we communicate, and I’m like ‘Come over and see me.’” Snoop and Daz reconciled, and then called Dogg Pound’s other co-founder, Kurupt. One thing led to another, and suddenly, the group was making music again. The concept of reconciliation informed the title of the new album, W.A.W.G., which stands for We All We Got.

The lead single for the album addressed the issues that Dogg Pound’s members have been going through. It also set the record straight on their future plans. Namely, that they aren’t going anywhere. “Smoke Up” sees Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt come together as a unified force. “F*ck what you heard,” Snoop raps. “Somebody said the Dogg Pound broke up/ Shut yo b*tch a*s up, n**ga, now smoke up.” W.A.W.G. is due out May 31.

Kamaiyah has been cooking. Today (May 14), the Oakland rapper she is dropping a new album, Figuring Out My Emotions, later this week.

Figuring Out My Emotions appears to be a fairly short album, with only eight tracks — including “No Pressure,” which dropped earlier this month. The album was executive produced by Kamaiyah herself, along with producer Quakebeatz.

Kamaiyah has many projects to her credit, her most recent being 2023’s Another Summer Night. Figuring Out My Emotions arrives just six months after Another Summer Night, but maintaining a consistent output has always been part of her plan.

“I don’t want to ever get complacent … because the way the industry is thriving right now is volume,” said Kamaiyah. “It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a fucking year anymore. People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more shit in their face. It’s got to be organic.”

The Game Appears To Troll Meek Mill Amidst Rick Ross Battle

Is Meek Mill the biggest punching bag in hip-hop? Drake has been through the ringer in 2024, and had to single-handedly battle half the industry, but at least the Toronto rapper commands respect. People think Drake is a serious artist, even if the consensus is that he lost to Kendrick Lamar. Meek Mill, on the other hand, is afforded no such respect. The Philly rapper has become low-hanging fruit for fans and rappers alike. It’s easy to see why. He posts bizarre videos of himself, and has questionable affiliations with the likes of Diddy. Now, he has to deal with smoke from The Game.

Meek Mill posted a photo of himself on Instagram May 14, and fans clowned it. Nothing new there. The unexpected wrinkle was a comment from The Game. He simply typed “life is good” under the post, but fans know that the Compton rapper does everything with an ulterior motive. He’s “harmlessly” trolling a rapper on social media, then the next thing we know, he’s dropping an aggressive diss track against him. Those looking for proof can literally refer to a week ago, when The Game went at Meek Mill’s MMG boss Rick Ross.

The Game Poked Fun At Meek Mill On Instagram

Game has been dying to battle somebody in 2024. Few rappers want smoke more than the Compton hitmaker, and Rick Ross apparently drew the short straw. (It’s probably because he put out a Drake diss, but we’ll likely never know for sure.) He poked fun at Rozay’s weight on Instagram, then he dropped the diss track “Freeway’s Revenge.” Ross has responded to the diss on social media, but he more or less laughed it off. He claimed The Game was “starving” and hasn’t bothered recording a response.

To further support the theory that Game is targeting Meek Mill, the rappers have had beef before. The Game called Meek a “snitch” during his “92 Bars” diss, and Meek responded with a verse on the remix to “OOOUUU.” The Game went as far as to challenge Meek to a fistfight during a 2015 concert in Miami. It all came to a screeching halt when Meek was locked up the following year.

The two men reportedly put an end to their beef, and have been on solid terms ever since. If Game is looking to clout chase, though, Meek is a prime option for a low-level, low-risk beef. Time will tell if Game’s comment lead somewhere.
